4-0 out of 5 stars Matt LeBlanc before Friends in this one!
Three more screen-steaming vignettes from erotica auteur Zalman King: "Runway," "Kidnap" and "Burning Up."

Stars

1-0 out of 5 stars You know what you're getting with Zalman King.
Number 7 in the "Red Shoe Diaries" series features the following three segments:

"Runway" - This is the only segment which is even mildly interesting (which isn't saying much). A model is feeling sorry for herself because she is unhappy with her profession. She only does it for the money and considers herself a "whore". A taxi driver drives the model home and carries her bags up for her. She offers him a wad of cash to partially dress up like a woman. She takes pictures of him and then they make love. Odd.

"Kidnap" - Two brothers, (one of them Matt LeBlanc), rob a bank in the city. They then try to make their getaway on horseback(!). However, one of the brothers stops to talk to a beautiful woman and the police eventually arrive. The robbers take her hostage and whisk her away to the countryside. The woman and one of the brothers end up getting married. Another odd one...but this segment is silly and boring.

"Burning Up" - A woman becomes obsessed with firemen. Her actions become more and more questionable until she does something quite strange toward the end. That's about it.

I have never seen a "Red Shoe Diaries" series that I truly enjoyed. This one continues in that tradition.

2-0 out of 5 stars Yawn
Hardly erotic, no character development, and pretty timid sex. Not what I would call an erotic masterpiece, or even good entertainment.

4-0 out of 5 stars Most of it was very Hot
All three stories were very erotic, the best one being the third one with aphrodities from the hercules series.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Luscious Erotic Escapade in the Grand Red Shoes Tradition
This is my favorite of the Red Shoe Diaries series. The stunning cinematography and intense exploration of erotic desire that has made this series popular is very evident in this video. "Runway" is the story of a disillusioned model that finds fulfillment and excitement from an exotically handsome taxi driver that acts as her model in an impromptu photo shoot. The realistic portrayal of the viscous and hollow world of fashion is an added treat here. "Kidnap" is the tale of a sexy urbanite that gets plucked out of her daily existence by a rugged thief who awakens her desires. "Burning Up" is my favorite of the three episodes--it's about a lonely woman who is infatuated with a mysterious and gorgeous fireman. The fire theme is carried throughout the episode with exquisite skillfulness. Her desire for him is very much like fire, and many of us can identify with her burning, relentless desire. The beautiful cast, sumptuous cinematography and soundtrack, and intense, unbridled sensuality make this video a must-see for those who are not afraid to explore their most intimate desires. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece it is NOT
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, starring Andrew Dice Clay. Raw, raucous, and totally unconventional. Unbelievable. Un-f@*!ing-believable. I don't need to recap the film as most of the other reviewers have summed up the story succinctly. Ya gotta love the cameos, Sheila E, Morris Day (remember The Time?), David Bowie, and the cast has Lauren Holly (the sexy redhead cop in Picket Fences...mmmm..wanted her so badly....mhmmm...but she had to kiss Dice...yuuuuuuk!), Ed O'Neill, Gilbert Gottfried (in a role that puts Howard Stern to shame!)

I originally bought this movie on VHS because I am a long-time Yello fan and I discovered that Yello scored the movie. I bought it on VHS years ago, watched it once and was disgusted that Yello had put their name on such trash. I could see why Yello never scored another film. Well, I just watched it again, with fresh eyes, and despite the fact that there is not much Yello, other than some clips from their 1990 album Baby (I now understand why Baby was such an uneven album, many of the songs were written for this film and they just don't flow properly in an album format. That or they are too closely tied to the same storyline as the film.) Yes, despite the fact that there was less fresh Yello in the film than I wanted, the film is actually well crafted. I planned on watching just a bit of the beginning to check out again how much Yello is in the film, and I simply couldn't stop watching. Two hours later and I discover there is a DVD version. While it is not my standard fare in humor and style, I am going to have to get the DVD to see what it looks like in widescreen format.

My first watching years ago was on a small television, so perhaps that had something to do with my first impression of "::shrug::" Watching the VHS version on my projector the other night was a completely different story. You really need to consider how easy it is to get bored by a film when it is on a tiny TV screen. Watching it in a larger format or in the theatres gives a whole new twist and perspective to the viewing. Definitely worth the trouble here.

While I am not fond of the humor, I give the movie a solid three stars, maybe 3-1/2 or 3-3/4. Sorry Dice, I just can't bring myself to give you four stars...no dice.... Definitely worth the time and effort to buy in DVD and view on a large screen, and enjoy the soundtrack on something better than crappy old worn-out VHS.

4-0 out of 5 stars An entertaining trashy comedy.
An crime fighting Rock & Roll Detective (Andrew Dice Clay in a vulgar comic performance) has been hired by his best friend (Gilbert Gottfried) & an mystery woman (Priscilla Presley) to find an missing young groupie (Maddie Corman), who could be linked to the mystery death of Bobby Black (Vince Neil of Moltey Crue) is murdered on Stage. Soon the hippest detective is having problems with his secertary/girlfriend (Lauren Holly) and an Cop (Ed O`Neill) but the worse he gets involved with an sleazy ruthless record executive (Wayne Newton) and a merciless hit man (Robert Englund).

The film is a gulity pleasure, directed by Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4:The Dream Master, Driven). Andrew Dice Play`s Performance keeps the film entertaining. This was a Box Office disapointment for Harlin. Harlin did get Fans from this film, years later after this film`s release. DVD has an sharp anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) transfer (also in Pan & Scan) and an good-Dolby Stereo 2.0 Surround Sound. DVD has a Interesting Commentary Track by the Director, Music Video, a Featurette and the Theatrical Trailer. This is an very underrated comic film, which is not for all comic tastes. Panavision. Grade:A-.

5-0 out of 5 stars So many as*ho*es, so few bullets
Finally, one of the best movies comes to DVD. After having checked the availability for the past ten years I finally discovered this gem at a local Wal-Mart in the worthless bin. This has to be the best thing I have ever purchased for $5. Anyway, THANK GOD!

5-0 out of 5 stars "No Thanks! I've got me own!"
All I have to say is....IT'S ABOUT F****N' TIME!!!!!!!!! A cult classic that made the term, "cult classic", mean something. Now if we can just get "The Soldier" starring Ken Wahl, and "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" starring Cary Elwes, then we'll ALL be happy little DVDites!!!!!!Go to Amazon.com and tell them what you want to see on DVD. MAKE THEM RELEASE IT!!!!!! Later people.........

5-0 out of 5 stars finally!!!! the dvd i've been waiting for.
Andrew Dice Clay as Ford Fairlane is one of the most underated movie characters of all time. The movie comes off a little dated after all these years , but is still great fun. Cameos from Robert Englund , Ed O'Neal and Kari Whuer. The dvd is awesome. The commentary is good , a very short making of and the trailer.
Maybe one day a sequel? ... Read more

You keep waiting for what should be a wild comedy to really take off, but this film sputters along without truly achieving liftoff. John Candy plays a writer for a TV soap opera whose life is as lovelorn as his show is packed with passion. A bump on the head, however, and it's Wizard of Oz time--except that Candy is now trapped in the world of his soap, with the advantage of knowing everyone's secrets, as well as what's going to happen next. Better yet, he's able to strike romantic sparks with characters whose actors (in real life) won't give him the time of day. But cuddly Candy isn't much of a romantic lead and the writing is too flat to let him really shine, even among a cast that includes Raymond Burr, David Rasche, and Emma Samms. --Marshall Fine ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My Favourite Movie
This is the most hilarious movie, with John CAndy stuck inside a terrible soap opera!!HE can control events and turn himself into a hero by using his magic typewriter. It is sooooo funny, the characters are idiots, like the doctor who keeps yelling,"I..am a...medical..DOCTOR!!!',and the man whos being poisoned and his hair comes out and then he wipes his finger over his eyebrow and it comes off in his hand and then his teeth fall into the sink and then he tries to shoot his sister, who is poisoning him, only it isn't really his sister because she was swapped at birth so he accidentally shoots his real sister, and he cant talk properly anymore and so he says,"Ah,shthit." LOLOL.My mum is grossed out by the man who is losing his bits so she taped over the movie once.I love it!!!Its soooo funny!

its easy to state facts when you talk about the quality of a power tool or a tv. but when it comes to things like movies and music, its all a mater of opinion. my idea of a great movie might be your idea of the worst movie ever made. so its not a good idea to buy or not buy a movie based on someones opinion of it. i liked this movie in fact i just watched this movie 5 min before writing this. if you are not sure if its your cup of tea rent it before buying it. i seen it 10 times over the years and i still like it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Cute Comedy.
John Candy was one of the true greats of modern comedy. Unfortunately, he spent most of his career performing in poorly written movies which did not allow him to display his comic genius. DELIRIOUS doesn't fit that bill, however, neither does it achieve the heights that it could have.

In DELIRIOUS, Candy plays a soap opera writer/producer of the hottest show on televsion. He finds himself constantly battling the other producers who always want to revamp the show and quite frankly would like to get rid of him. While driving in the country for a weekend vacation, Candy is in a car accident and awakens to find himself in a real version of the fictional town he helped create on his soap.

The movie is a lot of fun and toys with an interesting idea. However, much more could have been done with the "life in a soap opera" concept to have capitalized upon Candy's talent. The movie has an impressive cast including Mariel Hemingway, Robert Wagner, and Raymond Burr.

Overall a charming little movie that's a lot of fun. Great for an evening of escapist delight.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent John Candy Flick!
This is a truly great movie! I am a very critical person and one who believes that nothing is perfect, but I loved nearly everything about this movie! It's a well-written and enjoyable film from the late, great John Candy and it also features a great cast of Mariel Hemingway, Emma Samms, Raymond Burr and Charles Rocket. It is a very well cast movie. The one thing I wasn't so thrilled about in this movie was the ending. It was a bit of an obvious ending for any film, although a heart-warming one at that...

4-0 out of 5 stars Candiavellian Romp
I have to admit that good writing or not this is one of my favorite escape movies and I wish it would come out in DVD. My liking it has something to do with John's use of the typewriter and his ability to change the direction of the characters through the machine. Once he damages the typewriter he needs to make a technical sevice call to get it going again. You can't beat that. We even get to see a perplexed Robert Wagner and the rest of a great cast. ...
