5-0 out of 5 stars The Mystery is Why This Isn't on DVD Yet!
I remember watching this movie when it was first shown on TV and I think it originally had a longer title, like The Mystery of Caroline or Who is Caroline? or something like that and I think it was later shortened to Caroline? Stephanie Zimbalist has always been one of my favorite actresses and I think she was terrific in this intriguing mystery and supsense movie about a woman who may or not be Caroline, a young woman who disappeared and thought to have died. She claims she is Caroline but is she or isn't she is the question. I highly recommend this movie and I wish this and her other movies would be transferred to DVD and I hope they put her TV show Remington Steele on DVD in complete season sets!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Story
Wonderful story, set in the 1950's, of a woman who comes home to her wealthy family who thought she had died in a plane crash many years ago. Or is she an imposter? She must convince everyone that she is really Caroline, and find out if she is welcome in her family and community after letting everyone believe she was dead for so many years. As she gets to know her family again, she attempts to make positive changes in the lives of her skeptical young half brother and disabled half sister.

I'm surprised this movie is not yet on DVD. We have a couple of VHS copies at my library and they have been checked out nearly 400 times. This movie is almost never on the shelf.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Movie and it Should be on DVD!
I remember watching this movie when it first aired on TV and I believe it originally had a longer title but has been shortened to Caroline. this was a wonderful and exciting movie. It was inspiring and somewhat humerous at times. It was also very informative on just how far people will go to accomplish their greed and selfishness. It plays upon the family image of loving parents to their children.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Caroline?"
This is a wonderful movie. It doesn't matter what genre you usually like or are most comfortable watching. This film is well crafted and cast, with remarkable and memorable performances. Best of all is Stefanie Zimbalist, who is as memorable in every performance, each different, as is her wonderful father, Efrem Zimbalist jr. Enjoy the movie! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Egyptian Identity Crisis
Egyptologist Charlton Heston has had a string of bad luck, ever since unearthing evil old Egyptian sorceress queen Tara. His wife died in childbirth, and numerous colleagues associated with the find suffered dreadful accidents. Still, the find made him famous.

Eighteen years later, his daughter Stephanie Zimbalist (in her first film role) is coming into her own, and wanting to travel with dad to Egypt and get to know him better - she's often been away, while Heston was making time with his new wife and former assistant, Susannah York, and conducting his lecture tours. Stephanie's a sweet kid, even if she is suddenly developing problems. Seems she doesn't always know where she's been at night - or what she was doing. In fact, she isn't even sure who she is, anymore, half the time.

Heston is equally afraid he is losing his own appreciable mind. He's coming to recognize that he is the fulfillment of Queen Tara's prophecy for her own resurrection in a later age. As before, those near and dear to him are dying, paving his way to become Tara's new prophet, and Heston is beginning to think the ancient Egyptian magic has more going for it than any of his own modern science. The problem is, it appears his daughter may have to die to fulfill the prophecy...

This movie was one whole star better, before the releasing studio completely reshot its ending. What was a clever conclusion became instead more heavy-handed and far less satisfying, and even somewhat comical. It also occasionally suffers from a bit of heavy-handedness in direction, inadvertently turning some melodramatic moments into humorous ones.

However, the production itself is superior. Maurice Binder did the stylish opening credit sequence. Robert H. Solo produced, almost contemporaneously with his excellent version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The excellent Claude Bolling score is eerie and romantic, and sometimes reminiscent of The Omen, as is the manner in which the numerous ugly accidental deaths occur. The performances are generally quite good, especially Zimbalist, who is fresh and charming. The cinematography and location shooting are breathtakingly beautiful.

This second filming of Bram Stoker's The Jewel of the Seven Stars is overall more commendable than not, especially for fans of horror films - The Omen especially, which the movie in many ways resembles - or of Egyptian settings and trappings.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesom Mummy Movie.
The Awakening is A awesom movie with pleanty of chills and thrills and it holds your intreast from start to finish. Charlton Heston does a wonderful job playing Egyptologist Matthew Corbeck And Stephanie Zimbalist is great as his Daughter. Stephanie is a great actress her great acting skills go great with her Gorgeous good looks. If you want a good Mummy movie or if your just looking for a good horror movie this is the movie for you buy it you won't regret it the ending of this movie is awesom.

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Drive-in Movie Thriller!
The Awakening is a fantastic movie! A real gem of a horror movie. It is definately one of Charlton Heston's best films! It is far better than "The Mummy" or "The Mummy Returns" that were in theaters recently. Go buy or rent this one...you won't regret it!

1-0 out of 5 stars I bet Heston wishes he never stared in this movie.
Recylced story of an ancient Curse wrecked on by those who open up one tomb too many in Egypt. You want a better movie, try THE MUMMY (1998).

5-0 out of 5 stars Awake and Watching
The spirit of a dead, evil Egyptian queen reincarnates as the daughter of an archeologist. "The Awakening" is a tantilizing thrill ride complete with incest, betrayal, and murder. A young Stephanie Zimbalist gives an eerie performance as the young innocent daughter who tries to combat the demon within her. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars heartwarming movie!
This is a must-view every Christmas! Jessica Tandy is superb as usual and reminds us of what is truly important in life.

5-0 out of 5 stars This movie is true classic.
Jessica Tandy does a beautiful job portraying Grace, a kind old lady that finds happiness by sharing her gift of story telling.

This is a perfect film for the entire family.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful movie!
This movie is an artful combination of humor, moral instruction, and a reminder of what is really important in life. It is beautifully written and the acting is fantastic.

4-0 out of 5 stars NOT ANOTHER FAIRY TALE
Grace McQueen is a senior citizen looking for an opportunity to be of service. She's turned down by agency after agency until she decides to do what she loves;story telling. She manages to get a spot on a public tv station and becomes a hit. Then the fun begins. She is "discovered" by some ad executives who see a gold mine in exploiting her talents.

A whirlwind of network ratings, make overs and new name (Granny Goodheart) overwhelms Grace. How she navigates through this mess is a delightful commentary about how we treat our elders, our own children and ourselves in a doggy eat dog world of our own making.

Jessica Tandy is wonderful as Grace, the grandmotherly figure unwilling to let the studio bosses remake her image. Stephanie Zimbalist stars as the ad executive who is so caught up in her work to the point of neglecting what matters most, her daughter. In this film we re-aquaint ourselves with the taste of what it means to be a family and affirmed in one's old age.

Now sit back and enjoy the Story Lady as she reads you a tale where "they live happily ever after. The End."

5-0 out of 5 stars Another good film with nothing missing from it.
All the characters and story this film needs. This film is pretty much what I thought it would be, a film about a sweet old lady who tells a lot of fairy tales. There wasn't a story she told that I hadn't already heard. It also shows the importance of parents spending time their kids like in "Casper: A Spirited Beginning" and "Jack Frost" and "A Goofy Movie". The dollhouse that Alex gets is a lot like the one I also got for Christmas. ... Read more

The is such a fantastic movie, that I've always remembered it even though I haven't seen it in about 20 years. I am now getting this movie for my two daughters.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Magic Of Lassie
This movie was one of the best Lassie movies my daughters and I ever watched. They are now 28 and 24 years of age and still tear-up when we talk about it. My favorite actor in the movie was James Stewart. He is one of the All-Time great men of the screen. When he begins his prayer at the conclusion of the movie, I want to be there with him. 5-0 out of 5 stars A THOUGHT-PROVOKING TV MOVIE FROM THE EARLY 1980s
Stephanie Zimbalist and William Atherton give fine performances as Kay and Jim Spence, a couple who may become parents...but not in the usual way. "Tomorrow's Child" is a child that does not grow in its mother's womb, but in a specially designed incubator.

Doctors, including Jim, believe this method of child birth could prevent genetic defects, miscarriages, birth injuries, and offer hope to women who cannot have children. Kay, on the other hand, is skeptical and struggles with the idea of a fetus developing in a laboratory.

First broadcast in 1982, "Tomorrow's Child" gave viewers a fascinating look at what could possibly become an alternative way to bring a child into the world. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Dennis Hopper suspense/action thriller with an original plot
The Prophet's Game has a unique plot with lots of action. The ending however could have been better. The game itself involves a game master (the killer) giving out obscure clues to all of the players. The players attempt to find out what dead celebrity the clues are referring so they can stay in the game. Eventually it is discovered by one of the players that some of the dead celebrities were not dead when the clue was given to them.

The method of operation turns out be a copycat of a serial killer in Seattle, who now-retired police detective Swan (Dennis Hopper) supposedly solved by killing the culprit. The killer lures Swan back into the mix with postacards and phone calls. Swan decides to help the LA police who definately do not want his help.

The movie spirals into a personal conflict between Swan and the Killer and several celebrities die along the way. The confrontation scene in the end is OK. The identity of the killer will suprise you, but the killer's final masterpiece has been done is several movies.

Overall I gave the movie 3 stars for originality and good performances by Dennis Hopper and Joe Penny (yes, from Jake and the Fatman) as Walter Motter (the person in charge of the police investigation). The other performances are pretty bland and cinematography is obviously low-budget. I would suggest renting the movie first unless you're a big Hopper fan. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Pretty Good Disease Pic
"Jericho Fever", which first aired on the USA network in December 1993, stars Stephanie Zimbalist in one of her last best TV-movie roles as a CDC doctor dispatched to New Mexico to thwart a new strain of hemmoraghic fever. The plot (at least so far as it concerns Zimbalist) is plausible, sensible, and without frills. In many ways it resembles Elia Kazan's 1950 film "Panic In The Streets" -- there are no suspenseful mass evacuations of the public or gory death scenes, just a doctor and a detective with little time to find the one individual who is immune to the disease (a criminal, of course).

Zimbalist fans will enjoy the cool, self confident performance the actress gives -- most are so inaccessible these days. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Love needs an escape from the world, and yet...
This TV film is interesting in many aspects. It shows how a woman lawyer can fall in love with her client, an inmate who has killed two people in selfdefense. She helps him escape and she escapes with him. They get on the run and this adventure shows how they are betrayed, by close friends on his side, and by her sister on her side. The question that arises in this film is how she accepts to run again and away when they are betrayed by his friends (for money), but at the end of their rope, she calls for help from her sister, knowing that her sister will betray them. Then she is the witness of the arrival of the cops but they have no car, so she pacifies him with loving gestures and words instead of telling him the real situation, so that they are captured without any violence or bloodshed. She saves him, or his life, in a way. This is probably the most important proof of her love for him : to save his life because life, even in prison, can lead to some development that will not be entirely negative. The film closes on the meeting of the two when brought to court for the trial after this escape. Their eyes tell us more about love as a redeeming element in life than any long commentary on the subject.

Dr Jacques COULARDEAU, University of Perpignan

5-0 out of 5 stars love on the run
Stephanie Zimbalist plays Diane Rockland, a young attorney whose life consists of caring for her invalid dad, jogging, and working all the time. She presents as very controlled, but also bored and lonely. Diane gets assigned to defend an inmate, Sean(a VERY young Alec Baldwin). Alec is handsome, intelligent, and charming, and like all good sociopaths, can read people. He senses her vulnerability and plays her perfectly. Diane falls in love and breaks him out of jail. Zimbalist and Baldwin give excellent performances and generate real chemistry. SEE IT!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Love on the Run
Stephanie Zimbalist (daughter of Efrem Zimbalist, 77 Sunset Strip and FBI) gives a touching performance as an idealistic, lonely young single attorney living with her invalid father (Howard Duff), and constantly criticized by her older, well-married, establishment sister (Joyce VanPatten). When she finds herself defending an extremely attractive client (Alec Baldwin), she becomes romantically involved without fully realizing the impact her actions will have on her career as well as her life and the lives of her family. I really enjoyed this film and have been a Stephanie Zimbalist fan even before she appeared as Laura Holt in Remington Steel. It's also fun to see how young actors blossom and mature as Alec Baldwin has during his career. Other movies with similar plots are The Getaway (also with Alec Baldwin); Thompson's Last Run (Robert Mitchum). ... Read more
