A SAD BUT GOOD ROMANCE FLICK!
I was recently flipping the channels when I first saw this and I came on the scene where Brooke Shields is walking up the stairs to meet up with Martin Hewitt at a party. I was so fascinated by the movie, that I continued to watch it many times after that. Even though it's not out for release right now, it's still good (if you have cable or satellite dish) to look for it on The Love Stories Channel, which frequently shows it. I love this movie and the song. I don't understand why some critics have said it was a bad movie, because it's the best love story I've ever seen. I'm reading the book right now, and they're quite different, but both give a lot of depth and show David's endless love for Jade.

If your are late 20's or early 30's you remember!
I have read the newer reviews, & kids these days just do not appreciate the good "older movies". I can remember watching this
movie OVER & OVER & OVER again years ago. It is one of the best
"younger age" movies of it's time. Movies now have changed (for the worse in my opinion), & in it's day, this movie was extraordinary. Endless Love is & will always be part of my video collection...A classic in it's time...I can only hope I'll get it on DVD one of these days (please release it!!!!).It's worth every penny in my book!

Sometimes you gotta dig a little deeper...
to understand a much misunderstood movie! Endless Love is one such movie. So what brought me to this conclusion? Viewing it three times in a row and finally "getting it." You see, when I read reviews depicting this movie as a world-class disaster I was surprised, seeing as how Franco Zeferelli directed it. It couldn't possibly be that bad, I thought to myself...so I rented it. To be honest, the first time I watched it I was a little disappointed. Although the cinematography was excellent, I noticed far too much "choppiness" and little editing errors here and there. I was also a bit uncomfortable with the way the storyline was headed, partly because I had my own preconceived notions and felt "set up" for something different than what I was seeing. As one reviewer put it, "Endless Obsession" would have been a more suitable title, or so I thought at the time. When the movie ended I felt a little uneasy, like I had just missed something big. So what did I do? I rewound the thing and began to watch again, this time trying to ignore the inconsistancies and kept an open mind. As I sat there immersed in Jade and David's world, I finally began to understand. Franco Zeferelli knew exactly what he was doing, he was telling us this story through the eyes of these kids, not as the more knowledgable interpreter. To suggest that this movie would have been better if Jade and David's love had been more "mature" is ridiculous. That would have killed the whole point. Were Jade and David truly in love? Yes, I believe they were...however, they weren't ready to handle the intense emotions they were experiencing maturity wise, and this is presicely why everything span out of control when Jade's parents allowed them to have adult relations, especially in their own house! For many people, sex can be a powerful force, and it's extremely difficult to break the emotional and physical bond it creates. Most teens are simply too naive and irresponsible to handle the baggage that comes with a sexual relationship. Like the saying goes "fire is beautiful in a fireplace, but it's destructive anywhere else." I believe Jade's mother permitted this to go on because of her own longing for her youth, when her kind wholeheartedly believed in "free love" and the paradoxal delusion of a "more innocent time" ran rampant. Her own twisted nostalgia prevented her from being the older and wiser mother she should have been. When push came to shove and David was banished (Of course he didn't see that one coming), it's no wonder he lost his mind. They had led him on into thinking that he had already became part of the family, then suddenly BOOM, see ya. So what if it was only a month-long banishment? A month feels like eternity to a teenager who is in love. As far as David was concerned, They may as well have told him never to come back again. By that time him and Jade had already spun their cocoon, and come hell or high water testosterone driven David was going to protect what they had created. Simply put, bad news and raging hormones don't mix. I don't believe that David had "metal issues." He was terribly misguided and in his own mind was almost grieving a death. His idea of being the hero who rescues his beloved Jade is extremely stupid in retrospect, however I couldn't help but feel deep pity for him. He needed someone to shake some sense into him and remind him that a month isn't forever, that he still would have seen Jade at school. When I saw David as being the kid he was portraying, my attitude toward his suffering changed. David is a classic example of Freud's theory of "Return of the Repressed," by denying yourself you create what you fear. David and Jade were the victims of a self-fulfilling prophecy, perpetuated by the ignorance and indifference of their parents. In it's own way, Endless Love is a masterpiece, because it doesn't automatically assume that what Jade and David are experiencing is "puppy love," but rather reluctantly allows the idea of them being in love and poses the question "what if?" What if they really are in love, how would it work given the circumstances they are in? Given their lack of maturity, wisdom, positive family influences, life experiences, etc., how exactly would their love flourish? The answer is sad but very realistic. A love at that stage in life has a nil chance of surviving, and even if it does work out, it won't be the likes of a storybook fairy tale. Chances are that the road will be full of impossible hurdles, road blocks and many tears. Problems are inevitable, however love is a precious thing and the movie does its best to emphasize it in the end. Was this movie perfect? NO, I wouldn't go that far. I think that for its time, it does stick out among all the other teen flicks that were made during that decade. Next to Risky Business, Endless Love is one of the better movies that actually have depth if you look for it. Just my humble opinion!

Silly Soap Operaish Teen Exploitation Movie!!
I was about 16 years old when this movie was in the movie theaters and being a fan of Brooke Shields I watched Endless Love and though it started off as a pretty decent movie and had potential it soon dissolved into a silly soap opera. It's really nothing more then a silly teen exploitation movie!

Endless torture
I have no idea why this film is practically out of print & why it's so expensive when it's so indescribably awful. I also have no idea why so many people love this film. I purchased a copy of it recently to see what the hype was all about (e.g. the rumor floating around that it had a lot of sex in it & my parents forbidding my older sisters to see it in the '80's. This was surprising since my parents were pretty lenient in letting us watch almost every movie we wanted to when my sisters & I were growing up). To my dismay, the sex scenes really didn't show that much. The only decent things I can say is that the cinematography is good (e.g. the orange lighting in the scenes where Jade (Brooke Shields) & David (Martin Hewitt) are making love. Martin Hewitt is great eye-candy for the female viewers in this film.

The film's not even so bad it's good. I did recently watch "I Love the '80's Strikes Back 1981" on VH-1 & was amused by how awful the stars on the show said it was & the jokes they made about it. The acting is awful by everybody & no one is really likable in the film. Jade's parents are morons. The father tries to be cool & smoke grass & drink alcohol with the kids. He usually ends up making a fool out of himself, dancing around idiotically. Basically, he's only nice when he's under the influence. Jade's mom struggles to sputter out easy sentences & sayings, souding like a child learning Hooked on Phonics & is so sex-starved that she tries to pull an a la Graduate & make it with David. Jade's older brother (James Spader) is not happy with David dating Jade even though he introduced the two!

Brooke Shields disturbs me in this film. I always got the feeling that she was exploited in this film (as she was in many others when she was young e.g. Pretty Baby as a 12-year-old prostitute, The Blue Lagoon in which she's way too young to be wearing barely nothing & having sex) as some unstable, young nymphomaniac who acts much younger than 15. This is especially evident in the rape scene that was so nauseating I had to fast forward past it. It's long after David has intentionally set fire to Jade & her family's house & they meet up again a couple of years later & he rapes her, making her demand over & over again to proclaim his love to her & she's crying. Afterwards, she's still on his bed, acting flirty & nonchalant as if nothing happened. What a f@#%*# up scene!

After the scene I just mentioned, I kept on fast forwarding through the film to stop the madness & because I really didn't care what would happen. I just wanted it to end. Does it have a point? Maybe it does - that arson will not win back the heart of the girl you love? Or maybe that obsessive love will, most likely & almost always, lead to tragic consequences? But who really cares any way? I suggest you save your money & rent better films about obsessive love like the uncensored version of 9 1/2 Weeks & the 1st version of Romeo & Juliet. ... Read more

As intelligent as a garden slug.
This movie was written by the same mastermind responsible for such classics as "Body Chemistry 4", "The Skateboard Kid 2" and "Poison Ivy: The New Seduction". As you can imagine, this one stinks to high heaven.

Ian Ziering is Darrin, a sought after hot shot in the field of computer games. The company CTC throws a bunch of money at him and he and his wife Deb (Katherine Kelly Lang) move to the Las Vegas area so that he can go to work on a new game CTC is developing.

There's a twist to the story and it's beyond belief. CTC is releasing millions of copies of a game called Amazing Mouse Race for free. Why? Because it contains a subliminal message telling everyone to buy their next game, Radical Rat Trap, no matter how much it costs. Evidently, they think that even in this modern age of technology nobody would ever notice the messages. They also must've thought that nobody in the world would think it was odd if millions of people started acting like zombies in front of their computers and then went out and spent hundreds of dollars on a new computer game. DUH!

There are so many holes in this story that I couldn't even possibly take the time out of my life to go into them all. The acting is as over the top as the plot. Poor Ian Ziering...his one shot at becoming a movie star and it had to be a piece of dreck like this. ... Read more

A Most Wonderful Movie I Have Ever Seen

Mighty Ducks fan,please don't miss it!

Flawed, but was showing promise.
This movie was made up of the first three episodes of the "Mighty Ducks" TV show, when it was probably at its best. The basic premise of this show tended to be weak, but their were moments when it showed a spark of inspiration, such as the Duck's initial distaste for humans and the conflict at first when Dragonas threatened Earth. Why should we help this alien civilization? Once they became standard-issue superheroes, the show lost much of its interesting parts. It became just another Saturday-morning cookie-cutter action cartoon. The only interesting part was the subplot of trying to get back to Puckworld, and with the cancellation of show, that was left unresolved. This show only needed a little tweaking to put near "Gargoyles" in strength of narrative.

A Must See for any Ducks fan
I love this movie! Technically, yes, one could argue that it's just the combination of three episodes: The First Face-Off Parts one and two and Duck Hard, but the seamless middle animation makes it seem like one film. It's the only way you're ever going to get a tape of the Mighty Ducks: The Animated Series unless you have Toon Disney, and it's really worth it. It just tells the story of how the Mighty Ducks came to earth with awesome animation, rich humor (no thanks to Duke), and lots of action. Definitely a must-see! ... Read more

90210 Dvd Debut!
So many petitions on the web have been crying out for 90210 to be released on DVD. Well its finally happened but not to the large scale everyone was hoping. Still one dvd release is better than nothing.

If enough people buy this DVD, then companies will take notice and begin to develop the Seasons everyone so dearly craves, converting them onto DVD for enjoyment.

This DVD is brilliant featuring the original pilot in its best form yet. The picture and sound have never been so finely tuned for a 90210 episode from season 1 which were always medicore in quality... UNTIL NOW!!!

You have the FULL cast featuring in this 90 minute pilot with the only exception being Luke Perry who plays Dylan. He is introduced in the second episode which follows the pilot. I can only hope that Season 1 will be released soon so we can all witness his big introduction into the show.

It's taken ages for this show to be released, dont follow the companies example and hesitate into whether you really want to purchase 90210 on DVD. JUST DO IT!

90210 FANS COME TOGETHER!~
First of all, it is NOT action packed, full of extra's and contains original music, like we'd all like. BUT THE POINT IS....... THEY HAVE PUT A 90210 product on DVD!!!! The more that are purchased may enhance our chances of ever seeing the entire series on DVD. I know a huge reason they havem't made the series on dvd yet is because all the music in all the episodes, and that would cause liscensing problems. If you are a TRUE 90210 fan, you will buy this simply to support any chance of them releasing the series in our lifetime. And I'm sure when they do, those box sets will include extras and fun stuff, but this is JUST the pilot episode, so you already know what you're gonna get, (if you've already seen the pilot.) One more note, on the cover of my now most favorite dvd, did anyone else notice they super-imposed Doug Emerson's head over top Luke Perry's body? Simply because "Dylan" isn't in the pilot, and "Scott" is. Sigh..... (Luke was HOOOOTTTTT!~ )Anyways, buy the dvd if you want to start your 90210 dvd collection, because I have faith in the powers that be that they WILL evetally put the series out. And when they do I'll buy every single season. WORD.

90210 on DVD!
One day in the near future...COULD WE PLEASE get 90210....all 10 seasons on DVD. I know a ton that would purchase them. They are a collectors. I grew up with this show. I could watch it everyday and never get bored.. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, I beg of you. PUT 90210 on DVD - You will make millions happy....and me!!! Good start with the pilot...but, lets keep going....lets get Season 1 out...!!!!

Follow Russell Crowe, the Yakuza, the Mafia, and the FBI....
This Russell Crowe film is one of his least known works. One should realize it is not in the same caliber as his other great films, but one that should be appreciated as strictly an action hero performance instead. "No Way Out" was not a theaterical release, instead it debuted on cable televison. It has the typical elements of a made for t.v. movie fare; weak script and storyline, minimal character development, and strictly action-driven. However, Russell Crowe turns this film around from your typical action genre movie to a well-paced and well-acted film on his part. This is the first role of Crowe's where he plays a father and a widower. It is ashame there was not enough of an established relationship between father and son. However, it was so adorable to see the character of Zack Grant talk to his son as if an adult and have his son call him by his first name. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised by this different kind of film, character, and performance by Russell Crowe in his fourth U.S. film. You will notice how far he has come in his present film career!

Crowe acting like himself or is he REALLY acting?
I like this movie simply because it was entertaining. There's no deep drama, brainiac prose or intense emotional scenes here. It's just a story about your average cop with a major attitude problem who has a somewhat strained relationship with his 7(?) year old son. The reasons as to why there's a seeminly lack of affection from this single father to his son is explained through poignant flashbacks. The movie is LA Confidential meets Rush Hour. I found Crowe's character humorous, simply because he's so grumpy and prickly, one wonders if it's possible for anyone to be that rude! The ending is uncharacteristically endearing for a movie of this genre. Definitely a must see for Crowe fans.

If collecting the lot...
While I am a huge fan of Crowe's... this was NOT one of his better performances.

There is plenty of action, more than average suspense but the dialogue is lacking greatly.

Phrases and sentences that just don't make a lot of sense permeate the entire script. More specifically, I found myself saying "would they REALLY say that in this situation???".

Russell drops in and out of his "American" accent, which is a painful reminder of the fact that this is one of the earlier films in his now stalwartly coral of films.

STILL, that all being said... if you are collecting the lot of them... it is worth the purchase if not for anything other than to be able to see just how far he has come.

There is "No Way Back"... unless you return it
From the typical action movie title that slips out of your memory within days to the typical overused clichés, I felt like I had seen this one before. Surely Crowe is a good actor, but he isn't exerting himself in this blah flick, and he definitely can't save it from the suspense B-list (at best). There is really no reason to buy this DVD, even with the one talented actor in the cast.

HUGE Russell Crowe fan but hated this movie
I have almost all of Russell Crowe's movies, but unfortuneatly this may be his worst. Everything about it goes against what Russell prides himself in making a movie. His charactar's dialogue is contrived and unrealistic. He is famous for battling directors when it comes to the integrity of his charactar, but he didn't win this battle. Follow Russell Crowe, the Yakuza, the Mafia, and the FBI....
This Russell Crowe film is one of his least known works. One should realize it is not in the same caliber as his other great films, but one that should be appreciated as strictly an action hero performance instead. "No Way Out" was not a theaterical release, instead it debuted on cable televison. It has the typical elements of a made for t.v. movie fare; weak script and storyline, minimal character development, and strictly action-driven. However, Russell Crowe turns this film around from your typical action genre movie to a well-paced and well-acted film on his part. This is the first role of Crowe's where he plays a father and a widower. It is ashame there was not enough of an established relationship between father and son. However, it was so adorable to see the character of Zack Grant talk to his son as if an adult and have his son call him by his first name. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised by this different kind of film, character, and performance by Russell Crowe in his fourth U.S. film. You will notice how far he has come in his present film career!

Crowe acting like himself or is he REALLY acting?
I like this movie simply because it was entertaining. There's no deep drama, brainiac prose or intense emotional scenes here. It's just a story about your average cop with a major attitude problem who has a somewhat strained relationship with his 7(?) year old son. The reasons as to why there's a seeminly lack of affection from this single father to his son is explained through poignant flashbacks. The movie is LA Confidential meets Rush Hour. I found Crowe's character humorous, simply because he's so grumpy and prickly, one wonders if it's possible for anyone to be that rude! The ending is uncharacteristically endearing for a movie of this genre. Definitely a must see for Crowe fans.

If collecting the lot...
While I am a huge fan of Crowe's... this was NOT one of his better performances.

There is plenty of action, more than average suspense but the dialogue is lacking greatly.

Phrases and sentences that just don't make a lot of sense permeate the entire script. More specifically, I found myself saying "would they REALLY say that in this situation???".

Russell drops in and out of his "American" accent, which is a painful reminder of the fact that this is one of the earlier films in his now stalwartly coral of films.

STILL, that all being said... if you are collecting the lot of them... it is worth the purchase if not for anything other than to be able to see just how far he has come.

There is "No Way Back"... unless you return it
From the typical action movie title that slips out of your memory within days to the typical overused clichés, I felt like I had seen this one before. Surely Crowe is a good actor, but he isn't exerting himself in this blah flick, and he definitely can't save it from the suspense B-list (at best). There is really no reason to buy this DVD, even with the one talented actor in the cast.

HUGE Russell Crowe fan but hated this movie
I have almost all of Russell Crowe's movies, but unfortuneatly this may be his worst. Everything about it goes against what Russell prides himself in making a movie. His charactar's dialogue is contrived and unrealistic. He is famous for battling directors when it comes to the integrity of his charactar, but he didn't win this battle. Jaded
Endless Love was an everyday love story about teenage love. Yet it was here that both lead actors got their big break. Well, we all know what happened to Brooke Shields. She now stars in her own sitcom, Suddenly Susan. As for David, who went on to pursue smaller roles, such as portraying a reverend-turned-werewolf in Steven King's Silver Bullet, you could say that things did not turn out to be quite as well for him. Overall, although both actors intended to shoot for the stars, their performance can best be described as, well,...jaded. ... Read more

Stick with the special edition of this series
Three episodes from the recently cancelled "Spider-Man" series aired on MTV during the summer of 2003 are presented here by Columbia/Tri-Star Home Video.

All thirteen episodes have already been made availible on the recent special edition set that included a host of extras for fans of the show. This particular reviewer found the animated series to be something of a disappointment due to the forced attempts to "hip up" the character of Peter Parker and a number of absolutely terrible villains. The animation is also a mixed bag as well -- many of the computer generated sequences of Spider-Man web-swinging over New York City are terrific, while scenes with the character (and his college friends) out of costume are far less convincing.

Don't let the new release or the cover art fool you -- these are simply episodes already offered in the special edition from earlier this year (and still availible on Amazon).

The episodes include "Spider-Man Dis-Sabled" which pits the webslinger against an assassin known as Silver Sable, as well as the two-part story that ended the series, "Mind Games, Part One" and "Mind Games, Part Two." There is some alternately entertaining sequences and terribly flawed animation to spare. Neil Patrick Harris is particularly good as the costumed hero, although the trademark "instant changes" from Peter Parker into Spider-Man might be more than a bit annoying to some (he runs down an alley in "Mind Games, Part Two" and magically changes in a burst of light from his street clothes to his red and blue costume? He jumps off a roof in "Spider-Man Dis-Sabled" as Peter Parker and, within a milisecond, swings away as Spider-Man?) The finale of the "Mind Games" two-parter was obviously a set up for season two, but the cancellation of the series will prevent that.

Fans of the series should stick to the special edition and stay away from this bare bones release.

WARNING! DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION!
If you want all three animated dvds plus more.. just buy the entire season on the 2 disc set. These episodes are all on there plus the re-maining episodes that complete the season. Please don't be fooled by this greedy, market-mentality. I LOVE spider-man.. but, I don't want others to be taken advatage of. Otherwise, the material is A+++ which is why I still gave it 5 stars.. I don't want it to poorly affect quality Spider-Man product. :) ... Read more

Streamlined release of a disappointing "Spider-Man" series

This particular set contains the single best episode of the entire series:"Law of the Jungle" with Spider-Man going up against one of his best-known adversaries, The Lizard. Although the characterization of Doctor Connors (a.k.a. the Lizard) is a misfire, the episode still contains a few excellent rooftop fights, an entertaining "stalking" of Harry Osborn, and a particularly imaginative "strobe light" split second change from Peter Parker into Spider-Man within a police department interrogation room.

However, unless you're looking to save money and pick up this release strictly for the kids, the special edition DVD is the one to purchase.

Not Worth the Money
This was the Spider-Man cartoon that came on MTV, not the classic one from Fox Kids. Its kind of a waste of money since these episodes are already on DVD with the 13 Episode set released earlier. Fans should pick up the special edition instead

This particular DVD release features the introduction of a revamped Electro (voiced by Ethan Embry) in the first episode aired on MTV entitled, "The Party." Spider-Man faces Electro again in another weaker entry, "When Sparks Fly," before tangling with a perfectly dreadful adversary, Talon (with a horrible voice by pop star, Eve) in "Keeping Secrets."

Fans of the series should skip this bare bones release and buy the special edition instead.

Sold Seperate
This was the Spider-Man cartoon that came on MTV, not the hit one that was from Fox Kids.Its kind of a waste of money. You can these episodes along with the 13 episodes that were released earlier. But if you only liked some of the episodes, then you might like to have this one. ... Read more

W O W...
I really don't know what to say... I have never, ever, in my life, seen a worse movie than this. Seriously, I'm watching it now... It's almost over, and my mouth is just hanging open due to the utter crappiness of this movie. It's beyond description. Think of the worse movie you've ever seen. Now imagine that movie was the greatest movie ever written and will ever be written. Even then, you'd have no conception of how horrible this movie is.

The acting is wooden. My imitations of bad acting are better than this acting. Every scene is stale. I've seen them all before and laughed at them in the past. As was said, this movie makes Van Dam movies seem Oscar worthy. The absolute horrific acting and laughable plot are only amplified by the cheesey and overly dramatic soundtrack.

That being said... everyone should have to watch this movie. Just to give you a view of the bottom of film making. This will replace your "*insert insanely better film (any film)* was the worse movie I've ever seen."

Keep Your Expectations Low!
This flick is the perfect example of a movie that's so bad...it's actually good!

The writing, directing, & the acting are just awful, awful, awful!!! One reviewer said that he's seen high-school drama skits that had better acting...and he's right!

The thing is, it's very obvious that the stars in this thing were very aware of the script's shortcomings. Marc Singer ("V", "The Beastmaster") actually seems to be enjoying himself in his grunting cave-man-like role of the Austrian General Ziegfield Von Trotta. (What a name!) The other actors, Brolin, Ziering, Palance, & Gibb, actors who have proven that they actually can act (in other shows, that is) seem to be having fun on this grade-z straight-to-video release. The only one who doesn't seem to be enjoying herself is Ashley Laurence, the love interest. She had guest-starred on an episode of "Cheers" a decade-and-a-half ago & so I suspect that she may be a "serious" actress. Well, that's the last thing we need in a movie like this!

The premise of the story, in the hands of more competent & serious writers, directors, & producers, would have produced an excellent martial-arts/western fusion film. The story follows the adventures of a former French officer (played by Olivier Gruner, from "Nemesis" & "Angel Town") who leaves Mexico at the end of the war against Maximillian (which coincided with our own Civil War) in search of an Austrian officer (Singer) who murdered his best friend. Along the way, he defends a small ranch from a ruthless railroad man. (Shades of "Shane.") He is also adept at la savate, the French martial-art of kick-boxing. This is a good plot with an unusual, but true to historical-fact premise.

Unfortunately, every cliche' from both westerns (especially "Spaghetti Westerns") & martial-arts films (the "Enter The Dragon" dangerous tournament-types) is what makes up this mess! The murder of Gruner's friend by Singer was taken directly from "Once Upon A Time In The West" & even the soundtrack sounds like a Sergio Leone directed epic. I have no problem with the martial-arts (after all, savate was standard training for French officers at this time), but the "tournament" (a bare-knuckle boxing match) has all sorts of fighters from all over the world competing. Not only do we have boxers & wrestlers, but a kung-fu man (okay, there were lots of Chinese working the railroads & the gold-fields of the West at this time) & a capoerista from Brazil! (Now, how did HE get there?) This all takes place in a VERY SMALL TOWN. Why on Earth would anyone hold a tournament like this in a little, tiny town like that? They should've set it in San Francisco or Denver. At least those cities in the West were actually big enough to sponsor these "champions" to come over.

To make matters worse, this movie is very, very FUNNY. (Or sad, depending on your outlook. I liked Marc Singer in "V", a thought-provoking anti-fascist science-fiction thriller on tv. But here, he just grunts & growls through the role. But then again, that's how the part of "the general" was written.)

So why give it 5 stars instead of 1? As the old show-biz adage goes, "You can make your audiences mad, you can make them sad, you can make them laugh. Just don't bore them!"

This movie is NOT boring. It's just VERY stupid!

Nemesis vs the Beastmaster
Okay, so Ian Zierig doesn't give this movie a whole lot ofrespectability, but where else can you see the Nemesis (OlivierGruner) battle it out with the Beastmaster (Marc Singer)? That says it all right there.

The plot's cheesy and has been used before, the acting does not approach Shakespearian, but the fight sequences with Gruner are a joy to watch, and it'll hold your interest. I'd watch it again.

Hahahaha...makes Van Damme¿s ¿stuff¿ look oscar worthy!
It's going to be difficult keeping a straight face while I write this, but I'll give it a shot (chuckle). Don't ask me why I sought out this film, I haven't much of a clue. Maybe it was because I liked the old tv series "Kung Fu" and thought this might have an interesting spin (ROTFL). After all, I recognized many of the names here (Brolin, Singer, and Lee). Obviously not from the best talent pool in Hollywood, but Lee was very convincing as the drill sargeant in Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket", and has done fairly good work in other movies. Mark Singer wasn't too awful in some of his flicks either. Brolin? Uh, well, he's James Brolin (luckily, he has very few scenes).

Ahhhh, but on to this movie (ha). It is, without doubt, the most untentionally funny movie I've seen in many a year. I can't wait to give it to my son. He will be laughing for days! (I'm sure he will pass it around to all of his friends...it'll leave 'em in stitches!...and hopeful, they won't return it;-). I knew I was in for a "treat" the very first moment this film...oops...movie (film indicates quality) came on. I dare anyone not to double over watching our 'hero' ride (try to ride) his horse as the opening credits scroll on the screen. Every scene thereafter (yes, EVERY scene), presented the viewer with very old cliches, one after another after another. There was never a scene that hasn't been done a hundred times before and a million times better.... Correction! There were a few scenes that nobody in their right mind would EVER do!

What makes this flick so funny is the atrocious acting (I've seen grade school skits that had better acting) along with the horrible screenplay (I've heard better dialogue in silent movies!). Folks, you just won't believe the lines these act...uh...'people' spoke...and in front of God and everyone. And as bad as the 'stars' were, the beautiful dark-haired girl in the flimsy top (don't all western women wear these things?), deserved an award for using the same non-descript look whether she was happy, sad, fearful, or excited. (I don't think the director could believe it either, as he kept panning back to her expression, I think to see if it had changed--it didn't). At least she didn't make any pretenses, she looked lost all the way through this flick. And what is with the evil gunslinger? If anything can produce laughing fits, it's this guy's "evil eye". Unless you see it, you won't believe it. Hell, I've seen it, and I still don't believe it!

Oh my, how do I rate such a movie? Well, if I thought for one moment that they did this tongue-in-cheek mess on purpose, I'd rate it much higher. After all, it WAS pretty funny in most places, and down right gut-busting in others. However, I can find no evidence of such intelligence, not with the actors, the producers, and ESPECIALLY not the director (other than old 8mm home movies, I suspect that this is his first attempt to direct). Between 1 and 10, "The Fighter" gets a marginal 1. I honestly thought that as expensive as movies are to film, I would never see the likes of this one ever again. I also thought that I would never see a worse movie than "Christopher Columbus -- The Discovery". But I now know that I was wrong.

Strange western movie but great fights!
