5-0 out of 5 stars The best horror film of it's kind.
New York city is being terrorized by a series of murders and the public breaks into panic when the killer is a cop. Yes indeed, this is a film with a story that has not bee used befor, something new, and director William Lustig (MANIAC) and writter Larry Cohen (IT'S ALIVE) make this a good B-movie if youare looking for action, a few scares, and good acting. MANIAC COP 2 and 3 are good (but not as good as this) movies if you can find them.

1987. TWE. 92 MINS.

Rated R for Language and Some Strong Horror/Action Violence.

5-0 out of 5 stars You have the right to remain silent, FOREVER
I found Maniac Cop to be a great action/horror film. Director William Lustig continues his crusade to make good flicks(like Relentless,Uncle Sam,and the classic Maniac). This film is among his best. Robert Z'Dar(a truely underrated actor)plays the psycho cop who stalks the streets of NY. Tom Atkins(Halloween III)is on his trail. Maniac Cop's sequels were not on par with the original, but all three films are worth a look, especially the well done original.

5-0 out of 5 stars out of print?
This is a great cult flick! I can't believe it's out of print! What the heck is wrong with these people? Don't they like to make money? Re-master this puppy and get it on the shelves!

3-0 out of 5 stars At least Bruce Campbell's in it...
And believe me, that's about all this movie has going for it. It's your typical low-budget freak/monster B-movie. There is little to nothing in the way of originality in this film and should be avoided by anyone who doesn't love B-movies. It lacks the humor and imagination of many other movies of this genre.

Having said that, though, it does star Bruce Campbell (star of the Evil Dead trilogy) as the hero and just about any movie starring BC is worth watching at least once. There's nothing terribly exciting about his performance here, but... it's Bruce Campbell.

It should also be said that this DVD comes with some excellent extras, considering that it's such a low-budget, relatively unknown, cult film. With many DVDs of this genre, you're lucky if you have any special features at all. Deleted scenes, trailers, commentary, etc. A very nice surprise.

5-0 out of 5 stars DVD review
If you loved EVIL DEAD you will like this movie.
The DVD has a better quality than the old VHS, but it still could have been better.
The film is shown widescreen (1.85:1) and is not enhanced for 16x9. The quality is ok, but for Elite standards. A lot of the colors seem faded but this could be due to the age and budget of the film. A lot of the night scenes are too way too dark and grain can be spotted in several scenes. The laser had a much better brighter transfer. The sound is Dolby Digital Surround and sounds nice, but it seems to be Stereo and not Surround. The spoken word and music score is crystal clear with no pops but your speakers don't get much work.
You get the films original theatrical trailer, which is shown widescreen. The picture quality on the trailer hasn't been cleaned up. There is a lot of grain and most of the picture is very dark. You also get two television spots, which are shown full frame and both look like the trailer. Each is dark with grain running through them. You also get a trailer from France that is spoken in French with no subtitles. The picture looks a looks a lot worse than the previous trailer. There is also a Spanish radio spot, which is spoken is Spanish with no subtitles. There are also six extra scenes that were filmed for Japan television. These scenes are nice but don't add anything special to the film. Finally, there is an audio commentary with director Lustig, producer Cohen, Bruce Campbell and Jay Chattaway. The commentary is one of the best out there. Everyone is constantly talking and a lot of great stories are told about the making of the film.

Overall A fun movie if you don't expect too much out of it. The video is somewhat disappointing but the audio is nice. The extras are definitely the best thing about this DVD. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars a travesty
This is perhaps the worst film ever made. It boggles the mind to ponder the fact that money, time and effort went into producing this utter monstrosity. It is worth seeing if only to help one understand the true meaning of the word "horrific." It also features the most tasteless chase scene in cinematic history. See it, abhor it, and cherish the fact that you will never again experience any film quite so abyssmal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Anthony Michael Hall and a Gnome..
This film is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen. I remember seeing this years ago just loving Anthony Michael Hall's performance. If you love him now in the Sci-Fi Drama TV series The Dead Zone, or you loved him in his role as Whitey Ford in 61*, or you were blown away by his performance in Exit in Red..NOW is the time for you to see a true dramatic talent like AMH be completely GOOFY!
This man has mastered comedy just as much as drama. If you loved his jazz club scene in Weird Science ( you remember the one.."Hey Fats, man..let me tell you my story, man" ), or the scene from Sixteen Candles where he had the prom queen drunk in the backseat of the car, then you will LOVE this movie. Michael Hall just keeps getting better with age. His performance in this film is delightful! The gnome is so adorable and believe it or not the two make great costars!
Sure this movie isn't a classic like Science, the Club and Candles, but it's a great film to see Anthony Michael Hall as he makes that transition from child actor to leading man. This is that in between film where he is evolving as an actor and really coming into his craft.
Plus you can't help but love ridiculous goofy comedies like this!

" I'm sitting here handcuffed in a patty wagon about to be charged with first degree murder, Gnorm, because you had to go doom an entire race for an elf chick named Rena?! "

This movie didn't win any awards, but as corny as it may sound it will win your heart! Corny, cheesy thing to be said, I know.. but I love this film! And Gnorm is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen...next to AMH that is.. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Anthony Michael Hall
In true A.M. Hall fashion he keeps you glued to the screen in all of his antics. (Gnorm steals the screen though.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible Acting by Lorne Berfield (Jimmy)!
This video is a must have. Anyone who doesn't own this is a poo-poo head. Buy it cause my brother is great in it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Very stupid movie
bad acting, directing, producing, just about anything you can think of about this movie is just plain bad. I guess it's just for kids; but only the stupid kids are going to enjoy it the most.

2-0 out of 5 stars POORLY made film
If you want a good movie with actors who can act along with a great plot- don't get this one. It was poorly choreographed and the actors/actresses, well, cannot act. It was made out to be a kid/karate movie but was horrible. I don't recommend this to anyone over the age of about 9 or 10. The only reason the kids will probably like it is how the two kids do weird things to beat up the crooks (ex. the boy and girl escape on bad guy by sticking his face in a toilet and handcuffing his hands to the pipe, along with pulling his pants down to reveal boxers). I highly suggest you do not get this movie. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
I first saw this movie when I was 11 (18 now) and it is my favorite movie of all time. It's everything I ever dreamed of -- I was a lot like that girl, and to meet with an indian spirit in the body of a wolf? Myth and reality blend into an amazing adventure; have I mentioned the beautiful scenery? Especially when you hear the scream of an eagle...anyway, there's also a ton of humor that cracks me up every time. I think I've rented this movie a dozen times. All of the characters work well together; especially the girl's father and sisters. If you like nature and Indian myth, you'll love this.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Film!
If you have children they need to see this film! Even though I am older I love this movie. It will make a great gift or stocking stuffer. So, go out and purchase or rent this movie...it is cute, funny, adventurous and wonderful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids Out-Smart the Bad Guys
No wonder my four kids love this film! The three children manage to outsmart, humiliate, and ultimately capture two very dangerous bank robbers who are hunting them down in the wilderness. There are many fun moments, and just the right dash of suspense to keep it moving. Put this tape on for your kids if you and your spouse would enjoy 90-minutes alone... it's a guaranteed kids-sitter!

5-0 out of 5 stars It was a great movie!
My mom helped me write this letter because I am only 7 years old. I think that THE LEDGEND OF WOLF MOUNTAIN is the best movie that I have ever seen. I especially like Mickey Rooney in the movie and wish that I could be in a movie like this some day. I recommend this movie for all children my age!

4-0 out of 5 stars For Kids

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the worst movies i've ever seen--i love it!
if i had more money, i'd buy the unMSTed version of this movie. i think it's one of my favorite movies that MST3K ever did, but of my least favorite episodes. mike and the bots are not in top form on this one. the movie is great though. travis brooks stewart is awesome. the whole prostitute-turned-nun subplot was great. the music is really cool too. gratuitous voice-overs, plastic dinosaurs, what more do you want?

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Sci-fi movie of it's decade... Absolutely beautiful.
This fantastic movie stars the incredible Daniel Bernhardt and a bunch of other top-notch actors. The 'hero' is a run-away slave, fleeing the Master Race of Cyborgs that have enslaved humankind in space! Fed up with slavery and abuse, Bernhardt jumps on a shuttle and heads to Earth, winding up in California. His former masters, however, have other plans! They've come after him, unwilling to lose even one of their precious servents... For the truth is, as advanced and powerful as the cyborgs are, they have one ultimate weakness- They lack opposable thumbs. Bernhardt, obviously equipped with very unique thumbs, must battle for his freedom against relentless cyborgs and their terrible dinosaur trackers! Also worth noting is the splendid use of cardboard boxes in this film. Quite frankly, I think they spent their entire budget on boxes. But you really have to see this to really believe it, and understand it's greatness.

2-0 out of 5 stars Come for the dinosaurs, stay for the laughs!
This film was featured in an episode of "Mystery Science Theater 3000," and one viewing will show you why. The plot is simple: a runaway slave (Bernhardt) escapes from a spaceship to Earth, pursued by his cyborg masters and their dinosaur trackers. On the way he (literally) runs into a novice nun who is a former prostitute and drug addict. She helps him hide from the hunters, and he helps her sort out a crisis of faith. Along the way there are bad special effects, cheesy forced-perspective dinosaur puppets (held close to the camera, they seem massive), and diabolical acting.

In spite of it all, this movie manages to transcind itself and become funny. The fight sequences are a riot, and the special effects are as good for laughs as anything "Dark Shadows" or the original "Star Trek" ever produced. And all in all, the storyline isn't any worse than that of "Jurassic Park" or "Star Wars"; the biggest failing is the low budget and too much reliance on fight scenes to carry the action. If you're looking for a film to pass the time or entertain friends, this one will do the trick ... especially for fans of the "Soap Opera Game" or Mystery Science Theater watchers who want to see the original movie uncut.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 starz for the MST3K episode!
In March 2001, I became a loyal fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000. (The first episode I saw was "Puma Man") Well, the first time I saw this horrible film on MST3K, I nearly died laughing! It is probably the most hilarious episode of MST3K in their final season. (Great commentary by Mike and the 'bots) The main synopsis of this putrid filth on film is that these dinos with exploding collers are sent to the future to kill humans and something else involving cyborgs. A Jeane-Claude Van Damme look-alike named Runaway is sent back in time to present day LA and meets up with a prostitute/druggie turned nun who lives in the house of the obese. Runaway then ends up in a crate factory where he confronts this cyborg who actually looks like an insane version of Alan Jackson (Tom Servo makes a point of this) They kickbox each other in a badly choreographed fight, which they end up doing again at the end where Runaway's shirt falls off of him (This scene was the stinger for the MST3K episode) The dinosaurs obviously look plasic, the story goes no where fast, the acting is some of the worst I have ever seen, the pathetic attempt at suspence and drama just falls flat on its face and the cyborg dude is a dumb.... On the big plus side, the stupidy of this film offered tons of hilarious dialogue for Mike and the 'bots and now is one of my favorite episodes. If you have to see this movie, you have to see the MST3K version! I promise you, you won't regret it. (However, for all you MSTies out there, you'll have to catch it on the Sci-Fi channel and tape it because so far it is not available on video or DVD)

1-0 out of 5 stars Crummy - Reprehensible - Abhorrent - Purile
As you can tell from the other interviews this movie is just about the worst film ever made. Let me see how many different words I can use to describe it:

Boring - Unbearable - Laughable - Lousy

Stupid - Horrible - Insipid - Terrible

I could go on with such descriptions but you probably get the point.

Daniel Bernhardt is a horrible actor and has no individual characteristics that make him stand out. I see that he is going to be in both MATRIX sequels. While I loved the MATRIX I now have serious doubts as to the quality of the sequel.

I wouldn't watch this film voluntarily but I may make my kids watch it the next time I need to punish them. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time
This movie was allegedly made in 1998, looks as if 1988. Shannon Whirly is hot but only nude in the last 3 minutes of the film. Other than that the entire movie is really dull.

2-0 out of 5 stars Shannon Whirry is awesome but movie not very good
This movie doesn't make it as a wild action film or as a mystery. The comedy mostly falls flat, the male lead is dreadful and the plot seems to have been written on a cocktail napkin. None of the characters is particularly believable. So why did I give the movie 2 stars? Shannon Whirry. That's it. She is the ONLY reason to watch this one. She looks fabulous and has a great but too short shower scene. The love scene is good but this movie needs lots more Shannon and lots less of everything else. (And although I think Shannon Whirry looks great here I also think they should have fired the dialect coach: I never once believed she was English.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Movie with Malcolm McDowell not Roddy McDowall

Another action flick from an unlikely source (wildly inconsistent Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky), buddy movie Tango & Cash teams Sly Stallone and Kurt Russell as bullet-dodging cops who get on each others' nerves while uniting against a slimy French drug kingpin (Jack Palance). Violent, profane, and packed with implausibilities, this is one of those big-budget, stunt-laden affairs that gets by on the charisma of its stars, and they almost pull it off. Tango & Cash was Stallone's first attempt to share the spotlight with another hero, and he's casually laid-back in his change-of-pace role (well, OK, it's not that change-of-pace), while Russell is equally enjoyable as Sly's well-coifed sidekick. Ridiculous all the way, this one is entertaining if only as a virtual catalog of action-movie clichés.--Jeff Shannon ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Best Worst Movie Ever!
This movie is so bad, so stupid, that it's great. Where to start? Well, to begin with the acting. No one ever expects a movie headlined by Stallone and Russell to be a groundbreaking film. Nevertheless, their over the top cheesiness (especially Russell's) lends the film a sort of idiotic charm. Stallone's inane delivery of his lines will keep you captivated. Jack Palance even seems to up the cheese factor in his performance. Teri Hatcher is a highlight of the movie, playing Stallone's spunky sister. She plays the part of damsel in distress, but is also very clever and strong willed. (Who knew there would be a role-model for feminists in a film like this? I kid, I kid) The story is pretty cookie-cutter for an '80s action buddy film. You could almost transplant Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte into this film and it would just about have the same effect.

So, with a mediocre script and subpar acting, Tango & Cash could very well be a train wreck of a film (like any Seagal or Van Damme flick). It avoids this though, by being so tongue-in-cheek. Whether or not this is intentional can be debated. I only know that I can't help but watch this film every time it comes on!

So if you're looking for big, dumb fun, this is the flick for you!

4-0 out of 5 stars I miss the 80's
I bought this dvd for christmas and watched it for the first time in a while. Kurt Russell steals the show from his partner and if this movie starred anybody else, then it would have came out a lot worse than it did. Russeell is Gabe Cash and Stallone is Ray Tango, the two toughest and hardest cops in the city. They have done so much damage to the crime syndicate's income that Yves Perret(a brilliant Jack Palance)has to take matters into his own hand and get the duo off the streets. They get set up and end up in a maximum security prison only to discover that if they don't escape, their is no hope for survival. This movie really owes a debt of gratitude to Harold Faltermeyer, who uses all kinds of COOL beats in his score throughout the film and keeps the viewer interested. This movie could have been longer, but I won't complain considering the action films that are being made these days are really stupid!

5-0 out of 5 stars Stallone & Rusell - an explosive combination
I must say I'm a big fan of detective movies, and '80 were great time for that kind of films (action comedies, adventures...). We already had LETHAL WEAPON in that time, but this film really pushed the limits. Critics often say that this is a B-movie, but that is what they think. For me, this is one of the best Stallone's movies and he and Rusell are really good together as two heavy cops alway aguing and having a lot of troubles with Jack Palance, leader of some terrorist organization who send them to prison where they will meet their doom. Of course, they will win and the rest is to you to be seen. Don't listen the others who didn't like it - give your own oppinion (possitive, I hope).

4-0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun!
I have to agree with the majority of reviews posted so far regarding this flick. I saw it when it came out in theatres (with my dad; I was just a little kid) but this movie is so cheesy that it's laughable (in a good way) and a lot of fun to watch at the same time. Very adrenaline rushing, action pact destruction and pyrotechnics best define this movie as Stallone and Russle play two cops from the East and West side who cost the local drug lord big bucks by busting all of his drug deals, so he has them framed and sent to prison. They escape of course in order to clear their names and seek retribution. You could probobly find it on VHS for a few bucks at the local pawn shop.....just don't expect Shakespeare. Appriciate it for what it is.

5-0 out of 5 stars Plenty of Action!!
Lots of action for gals (like me!), watchin Sly and Kurt's cute buns and hot bods running through this movie- also Terri Hatcher is great for the guys to see, she can act but not dance ha ha- lots of one-liner wisecracks and great second performances- Jack Palance as a hilarious chief villain, Geoffrey Lewis (who, incidentally, didn't get listed in the credits!)Clint Howard and more! As fine of a plot as one expects for an action flick, come on, its a MOVIE!! and a mighty FUN one, at that! Two L.A. cops, rivalling for headlines & high total of drug busts, and the bad guys that try to take them out! Not to mention lots of zany characters along the way- WHY can't hollywood make a Clive Cussler Novel like this? Funny, witty, lots of action, just like its written! as the Aussie villain puts it, "Balls to plan A!!" as a "B" movie, this one gets MY vote!! Hope you have fun watching it!:) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LOW-BUDGET, BUT WORTH A LOOK!
Among lower-budget "action" films, this is certainly several steps above most. The story itself, of course, is simple and lightweight.

Giant corporations wage huge sums of money on televised to-the-death battles between professional gladiators. The silent, brooding Cowboy Warrior "Falchion" (Paul Coufos) decides he is tired of killing for the sake of other people, and tries to leave the War Zone. Howling, laughing Medieval Warrior "Lochaber" (Robert Z'Dar) baits Falchion back into the fight by killing every innocent person who crosses his path--with his battle-ax!

Set in the beautiful Arizona desert, it is obvious extra dollars were spent on this film. The photography is clear and artful. The sound is crisp and the soundtrack music is "big screen" quality.

The actors, most of whom are familiar, are all good enough. Fawna MacLaren is mesmerizing as a "Dark Servant" with a stunning figure. And Robert Z'Dar, often racing up sundrenched hills in chain mail, is as we love to see him--cunning, fit and strong! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The best in the trilogy!
Maniac Cop 2 is the best in the whole trilogy! It has some really awesome action scenes and some funny one-liners from the murderer that Matt Cordell becomes friends with. The car chase mid-way through the movie was awesome and well thought out. Robert Z'dar gives an awesome and well played performance in his second go 'round as the Maniac Cop. If you're into action movies with a little bit of horror, then be sure to give this one a look!

4-0 out of 5 stars Maniac Cop is back! But this time he has a playmate...
Matt Cordell rises from his watery grave and seeks revenge on those who killed him in the previous entry. He also causes trouble by killing cops and helping the criminals. And when he teams up with a homicidal serial killer, it's up to though cop Sean Mc Kinney and his partner Susan Riley to stop this murderous duo before it's to late.

A very entertaining and well acted movie. Better than you'd expect and well directed by William Lustig (Maniac, Uncle Sam)One of the film most memorable scenes is where Matt Cordell causes a massacre at a police station.
The Maniac Cop movies are very underated slashers in my opninion. So, if you like other slasher movie series such as Friday The 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Child's Play and Halloween, you should add Maniac Cop 1-3 to your collection as well.

1-0 out of 5 stars Deadly dull and silly stuff.
Zombie cop is on the loose again. Yes, this sequel's "bigger" but man it's boring and silly. Some action, but hardly enough.

4-0 out of 5 stars An entertaining sequel.
The Cop (Robert D`Zar) was left for dead and missing from the river is back for more. This time, he has find the people has wrong him and having his revenge people has thought has killed him.

This horror/thriller is well made & better acted than the first film. Directed by William Lustig (Maniac, Relentless, Vigiilante) and Written by Larry Cohen (Guilty as Sin, Phone Booth, Q:The Winged Serpent) from the Original flick. Grade:B+.

3-0 out of 5 stars Manaic Cop Is Back On Patrol!
Maniac Cop 2 is the entertaining follow up to the 1988 B-Movie Classic, Maniac Cop. Maniac Cop 2 takes place nine months after the original movie saw the infamous Officer Matt Cordell drown in the East River. After the original movie's heros' Officers Forrest and Mallory are killed violently, Detective Sean Mckinney (Robert Davi) begins the search for their killer. Mckinney is also battling another series of killings in the city, while also battling his own demons. Matt Cordell (played once again by Robert D'Zar) keeps the body count lower in his second film, but a higher budget and better made film makes the movie just as entrtaining as the first. The movie makers go back to the first in some sense by having another longer and more grusome police station massacre and a police chase scene leads up to the climax scene. Matt Cordell returns to Sing-Sing Prison to confront the men who killed him. The sequel provides the answer to questions left in the first film, such as is Cordell still human or in sense an living dead killer. Maniac Cop 2 will not leave any of this series fans upset. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Maniac's Ignominious Swansong
Don't let the supremely entertaining Cop 2 build your expectations. The original producer/director team of Larry Cohen and William Lustig were bumped mid-production and replaced by hack extraordinaire Joel Soisson. Consequently, the film suffers from anemic visuals, highly diffused lighting, claustrophobic set pieces, a bright and sunny Los Angeles futily masquerading for gritty NYC, and a synth score that pales in comparison to original composer Jay Chattaway's moody, orchestral music cues (which by eliminating Maniac Cop's signature bittersweet "whistle theme" has committed a cinematic faux pas comparable to changing the Halloween score). The film is not all bad; Cohen's off-beat script still shines through in several places. However, it's an ugly stepchild to the wildly inventive action horror of Maniac Cop 2, the quintissential B movie.
The basic story is a simple, creative coda to the resolution of the second film: after being vindicated by Detective Sean McKinney (Robert Davi), Maniac Cop Matt Cordell (Robert Z'Dar) is ressurected by voodoo magic to help exhonerate comatose cop "Maniac Kate" (Gretchen Becker), who is similarly framed and ostracized when two greedy freelance tabloid reporters (Bobby DiCiccio; and Frank Pesce who gets killed for the second time in the series)doctor a tape of her shooting a drug store clerk. The films lower budget doesn't allow for Cop 2's jaw-dropping stunt work, authentic NYC location shooting, or talented and quirky supporting cast (Cop 2 featered a veritable "who's who" of character performers). Still, Cop 3 is a cut above your average late night cable fare; and Laserlight's low resolution disc is comparable to above average vhs.
Ironically, the Maniac Cop franchise resembles a far loftier trilogy: The Godfather. The series started strong with a raw film that revealed more potential than pay-off (Cop 1), graduated to a grander, more textured sequel that delivered on the promises of the previous installment (Cop 2), but ultimately faltered with a denoument that was rushed and plagued with production problems (Cop 3). And much like Godfather 3, Maniac Cop 3 is better than your average potboiler, yet suffers in comparison to its predecessor. Now, if only someone would give Cohen and Lustig the money Coppolla had...............

3-0 out of 5 stars This more of an Slasher film than an thriller but Still Fun.
Most thought the murderer cop (Robert D`Zar) is dead but he has been brought back to life by a voodoo man. Now the cop only wants one thing, an woman is his life.

This silly premise works because of Larry Cohen (Phone Booth) Script. Directed by the same director:William Lustig (Maniac Cop 1 & 2, Uncle Sam). The Last in the Series. Watch for actors:Robert Forster (Jackie Brown) & Paul Gleason (The Breakfest Club). Grade:B-.

3-0 out of 5 stars not as good as Maniac Cop 2
I saw this at my local blockbuster and decided to rent it. I thought if Maniac Cop 1 and 2 were that good maybe this will be the same. I was wrong. Maybe it was the lack of a good cast as in the first films despite Robert Davi and Robert Z'Dar. The story was interesting but dull. William Lusting did not directed some of this film and it can tell some of the acting isn't that good. Spiro Razatos did a great job on the stunts and the last 30 minutes was really good. Most of the ways Cordell kills is very stupid. I have seen some good movies like "The Green Mile" and "Night of the Living Dead" but this is not in that catagorie. I recommend this for people who have Maniac Cop 1 and 2 so you can complete the series, but if you didn't like 1 or 2 don't buy it.

3-0 out of 5 stars You can't keep a good corpse down.
This starts off where Maniac Cop 2 left off. Cordell has return to help Katie clear her name and also to marry her. Touching but the system that sent him to jail and if you watch MC1 and MC2 you know what happen. Robert Davi plays Sean McKinney also tries to clear her name. The last 30 minutes are very entertaining. I think it a good movie and for people who liked Maniac Cop 1 & 2 should get it.

4-0 out of 5 stars You can't keep a good corpse down
Considering the fact that William Lustig (director) and Larry Cohen (writer/producer), creators of the two predecessors, were also responsible for this follow-up, it's not surprising that also Maniac Cop 3 turns out to be pretty good - even though Lustig stopped filming after 24 days and was replaced by another director. The cast, including Robert Davi (No Contest) and Robert Forster (Scanner Cop 2), is decent, and you can spot Ted Raimi (Skinner) in a cameo. There are quite some new and interesting ideas, and the whole movie's pace should satisfy any undemanding horror buff, although the end is closer to an action than to a genre flick. Lustig is currently trying to raise money for another sequel - and if it is as good as this one, why not? If you look at Lustig's (in)famous Maniac, it is obvious his style is getting better and better. If directed by some other b-movie filmmaker, this might have turned out to be just another cheap trash movie. Of course, MC3 is not a masterpiece, it's just good thrills for horror fans. And if that's what you looking for, check it out. There is also an Unrated Version available on VHS, try to get that one! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Losing my "Cherry 2000"
It's not fair sometimes that movies as cool as "Cherry 2000" are unavailable for periods of time! This movie should be a main staple! It's got an exciting plot and it's so cheesy and fun, I can't tell you how many times I've come home after a bad day and turned to this movie! Another cool aspect of the film is the cinematography and the Basil Poledouris music score! They are so over the top and enthralling! It's an undiscovered classic that I'm glad to have found!

4-0 out of 5 stars Cherry Comes Home To DVD!
Movie Summary: Sam Treadwell's perfect robot wife, model Cherry 2000, breaks down. He wants to get her fixed because he thinks he loves her. But in post apocalyptic LA, there aren't any parts. He hears a rumor of a giant warehouse of Cherrys out in the wasteland. The problem is getting there, and getting back alive. To improve his odds he hires a tracker named E. Johnson (played by Griffith) who turns out to be a very unique and real woman, something that Sam has never encountered before. As E and Sam fight their way across the wasteland and into the warehouse, Sam learns a little something about real women and real love.

My Opinion: This movie is a ton of fun. At first glance it may not seem like much, but when you watch it, it pulls you in and takes over. Sure it's a bit silly at times, but it has more depth than other movies of this type. There is a full blown plot and a moral to the story. The action is good, and Griffith is great. It's one of those guilty pleasures movies that you are embarrassed to admit that you like. It's very easy and fun to watch making it one that you will watch more than once.

DVD Quality: Widescreen anamorphic, trailer, and making of documentary make this a nice little DVD

What You Should Do: Buy it. If you are a SciFi fan you need this one. The price couldn't be better!

5-0 out of 5 stars I flew one of these things in the border wars.
This is one of my all time favorite movies. It's not just the corny story line that I love it's the concept the America in the future. From dating to robot chicks to anarchy, to the border wars this movie has it all.
But I must say the DVD cover is atrocious. What were they thinking? E. Johnson never wore leather and her hair was never as fluffy. The cover makes this classic look like an X rated movie. I also wish that there were more features on the DVD but there was not really a demand for it.

3-0 out of 5 stars There's a lot more to love than hot wiring.
In terms of post apocalyptic sci-fi action type movies, this one isn't too bad. A little goofy for my tastes, but the humor was subtle and the action okay.

David Andrews (Graveyard Shift, Hannibal, Apollo 13) stars as Sam Treadwell, as somewhat well to do individual in the post apocalyptic near future. He prefers the company of a highly sophisticated pleasure bot, a model called Cherry 2000, to that of the messy entanglements of a relationship with a woman. Only problem is, during a romantic interlude, his Cherry 2000 get water in her system and suffers a complete internal meltdown. Removing the personality chip which contains voice patterns, mannerisms, etc., he sets out to find a replacement, which is easier said than done, as that model is nearly impossible to come by, and highly coveted. He gets a tip that there is a whole warehouse of the Cherry 2000 model in a warehouse, problem is the warehouse is located in wastelands, a highly restrictive and dangerous area.

Sam decides to hire a tracker to go and retrieve him a new unit, and meets with Edith E. Johnson, played by Melanie Griffith. So Sam and Edith set off in her souped up Ford Mustang, into the wastelands. After a skirmish or two, they encounter one of the more feared groups of the wastelands, led by Lester, played by Tim Thomerson (Trancers, Who's Harry Crumb, Air America). Lester and his gang live what I would call a little suburb of the desert called Sky Ranch, and detest trackers. Why they hate trackers, I don't know, as it's never explained, but they do, so I went with it.

Avoiding capture and also avoiding getting blown up, Sam and Edith eventually meet up with Six Fingered Jake, played by Ben Johnson, veteran actor of more western movies than I care to mention, and winner of an academy award for his role in The Last Picture Show (1971). He's a semi-retired tracker who provides a safe haven for Sam and Edith.

After a short rest, the two start out again, but get waylaid by Lester and his gang, and Sam ends up getting kidnapped. Sam escapes from Lester, causing much damage to Sky Ranch, and Lester and his cronies pursue. Sam and Edith finally come to where the Cherry 2000 units are, with Lester and Co. in hot pursuit. Oh yeah, there's a sort of love interest between Sam and Edith that develops and is kind of important around the end of the movie.

A decent movie, but a couple glaring inconsistencies in the continuity. The biggest one I can remember is when Lester and his gang are chasing Sam and Edith through the desert, following in a Jeep and a small truck. They stop at some point, open the back of the truck, and four ATVs pull out of the truck. In the next scene, we see the jeep and about 10 to 15 ATVs. Unless that was some kind of magical truck with a transdimensional wormhole in the back, I have no idea where all the other ATVs came from. And the scene with the car hanging from the giant magnet attached to the crane...if one of Lesters men was operating the crane, why did he keep moving the crane? Lesters men were trying to shoot at the car hanging from the crane, but were unable to get a bead on it due to it kept moving...just made no sense.
I found it interesting that Melanie Griffith made this movie well into her career, and after her much better movie, Something Wild. This type of movie just seems like one that an actor would be in before they became famous, like Jennifer Aniston in Leprechan.

As for extra features, there is a 'Making of...' documentary (cough, cough) if you can call it that. It's like six minutes long, 2 minutes of which is the trailer, and looks like a bad high school production. There is also a trailer for the movie. Watching the trailer, I noticed a few scenes not in the movie. One scene is where Lester shoots a woman in the head, and her body goes flying backwards into a pool of water. In the actual movie, we see Lester fire his gun in the direction of the woman who is off screen, and that's it. Also, in the trailer there is a scene where Edith is changing in another room, and comes out with her shirt unbuttoned, allowing us to see part of her chest (not all) in a view where she's facing the camera. In the movie, we get more of a side view and a much more limited view. Since this movie is rated PG-13, I am assuming that these two scenes probably got nixed from the movie to avoid an R rating, but nice to see they were put into the trailer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Movie. Fast and Brainless. What's wrong with that?
I love this movie. Was a favorite ever since I first saw it in the theater. Cool locations and sets. Good cast and funny circumstances. The bar scene in the beginning cracks me up and Lester the bad guy is awesome. Not Raiders of the Lost Ark, but well worth your time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Man, I was blown away!
Bob Wyatt is one of the finest talents in the industry, and this is proof of it. He strikes again with his latest scintillating effort "Stormy Nights." Although it didn't live up to his masterpiece "Legal Briefs" keep at it Bob! You're doing good work!

4-0 out of 5 stars Who watches a Shannon Tweed Film for the Plot?
The real star of this film is Traci Spaulding, who also appears in Erotic Confessions: Ecstacy. Tracy sizzles all through this movie. The plot was forgettable, but Tracy Spaulding is etched in my mind! I only wish there was an unrated version...

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing film, a waste of talent.
What could have been quite an entertaining film is the marred by a confusing plot and wastes the talents of Shannon Tweed and even Robert Z'Dar.

1-0 out of 5 stars This film SUCKED!!!

Grade:B+.
