2-0 out of 5 stars "Bondage Scene" NOT COMPLETE!
I just got my copy of the DVD R-Rated version and yes the best parts of the bondage scene are missing. Why those edit happy bozos would remove the lower body scenes showing the actresses powerful legs around her captor and leave the breasts showing is beyond me. Since this scene is most appealing in the way the Original version first displayed it in 85, to take it out in my opinion degrades the movie entirely. I was completely dissapointed in this version of the movie. If anyone saw the unrated 1985 Vhs version you would know what I mean. Lana was the movie. Why remove it????? I have [not a] clue!!! Unsatisfied customer.

3-0 out of 5 stars For those looking to upgrade their VHS copy
There are two forms of the movie on VHS. The R rated one and the Unrated one. The DVD is of the R rated version. The only difference is in the Lana Clarkson bondage scene (which, if you ask me, is the best scene in the movie). Something is missing in the R rated version. Benefits to getting the DVD? Immediately go to your favorite scene. On top of that, the picture clarity is much MUCH better than your old beat-up tape.

About the movie? Well, I'm about as big a cinema snob as you can get without being a professional film critic. I love the classic film-makers. Kurosawa, Kubrick, Keaton, Ford, Wilder, Hitchcock, etc. But I really like this movie. It is one of the best B movies out there. What's so great about a B movie? I think it's intent. B movies are obvious. They know exactly what they are and what they can do. They are there for a little action, a little adventure, some blood and guts, some T and A. They don't try to be anything more than that. That's why they are my guilty little pleasure.

You want a good B movie? Get this one, if you can. But if you have the unrated VHS, you might want to have second thoughts about this purchase. But then again, it's 10 bucks. Why not?

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful BAD Movie
I would say that this movie is ... good. This is definitely going to keep u watching from beginning to end as u count the number of times the actresses are [exploited].

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Deathstalker but very good
I like the barbarian queen movies as much as I like the mid deathstalker sequels not touching the first or 4th one but as good is about 2 & 3 of deathstalker I wish they would take it easy on the rape scenes .....a little t&a but god all in all not bad

3-0 out of 5 stars B Movie...what could you expect?
Well, let's put it bluntly: it's a B Movie. Meaning? for a B Movie to be such, there would usually be 3 main caracteristics: 1- low budget, 2- There will always be a naked (or half naked) woman scene, 3- It's just made to watch that woman scene. So, that pretty much sums up what the movie is mostly about, thus, if it fits your needs, go for it. As far as the story line goes, it's too stupid to even mention. One only thing I can say about it that lifts the mood of the observer: Lana Clarkson. The main character of the movie, an Amazonian looking women who likes to wield a sword and kill rapists. Unfortunately, not strong enough to take on an army, she's captured and taken to a "torture" room. In which, we happen to see the then-23-year-old blonde babe with her boobs in the air, strapped in a wooden table, being "tortured" by a small, ludicrous looking guy with equaly ridiculus glasses. Now, I must add, from any other b-movie, this one is probably the one that has the longest bondage scene, and, had the producers been a little more flirtatious, the closest to a 2x movie. So that single part is probably the whole reason to watch the movie, no more, no less. Advantages of the DVD version? just put the disk in, go to the chapter you need to see, enjoy, and then get out of it. No need to rewind or fast forward the tape for hours when you just need to see 5 minutes of the movie, right? Well, that pretty much ends my need to talk here. Having said all this, the purchase I leave to you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 1980's movies are awesome
.This movie might be a low budget film from the 80's, but it is one of the coolest. It is just like American Pie and all those teen heart throb movies they have now a days. When was the last time you saw "battle of the bands" featured in a movie? I cannot believe the sexual sense of humor they actually got away with back then, but it rocks! Not only will guys enjoy it, but all you gals will too. It might also remind you of your high school days, because the plot is about two rival schools. And yes they do get even with each other! So watch it, if you can find it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved Lovelines
I liked Lovelines because it had a lot of funny stories all wrapped up into one movie. You had a love/hate plot, an ambush plot and finally the chase scenes. It was kind of like a Romeo and Juliet story and West Side Stroy in one film. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars So Bad, It's Good: Part 2
Shao Tu (Ti Lung) is a young swordsman who, though no saint himself, loves to be a thorn in the side of anyone who oppresses or bullies someone weaker than themselves. Shao Tu particularly enjoys continually thwarting the blackhearted Mao. Swearing revenge, Mao convinces his sister to manipulate Shao Tu by pretending to fall in love with him. What Mao doesn't count on, however, is that his sister really does fall for Shao Tu. Shao Tu gives up his sword and the two live happily together, and soon Mao's sister becomes pregnant. Mao is furious, and still intending to carry out his original plan, he reveals to Shao Tu that his wife is really Mao's sister. Crazed by this perceived betrayal, Shao Tu walks right into Mao's trap and is killed by Mao and his men. Mao then wants to kill his sister, but she escapes. Mao and all his fighters each take a few of Shao Tu's bones as a souvenier of their victory.Eighteen years later, Shao Tu's son, Shao Shu (also played by Ti Lung), promises his mother on his deathbed that he will collect his father's bones and bury them beside her. He embarks on a journey and soon finds he must kill all of the fighters responsible for his father's death so he can collect the bones, and eventually all that is left is the skull which of course, Mao possesses. (also of note here- Dorian Tan plays the son Mao adopted upon murdering his parents). In summary, this movie sounds like it is a tremendous epic. In reality, however, this movie is the poor man's Chang Cheh film. The director of this film not only tried (and failed) to emulate the tragic, heroic swordsman films that Chang Cheh produced effortlessly over and over throughout his career, but the movie even features an actor who today is synonomous with Chang Cheh, namely, Ti Lung. While the companies that release these films are notorious for stinting on the English dubbing budgets, they must have really been low on funds when producing this movie, because almost all of the females have the same voice. In addition, the utter ridiculousness of this film really detracts from the enjoyment of it- I mean, not even the illustrious and charismatic Ti Lung can revive a scene where he is fighting with a roast chicken impaled on his sword. While the fight sequences are exciting to watch, I have to admit, they're a bit clumsy, and Ti Lung's capacity for high-octane fighting was not exactly maximized here. Having said all of that, I'm not quite sure why I love this film, but I truly do. It's just one of those films that's so bad, it's good, and will always have a prime spot in my collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Classic Kung-Fu/Swordplay Movie
I'll try to keep this short. The Revenger is an older, "classic" kung-fu flick. A very, very brief and approximate synopsis: A free-lance fighter resists the "unionization", if you will, of the fighters in his province. The evil leader and his fighters ambush the good guy to do away with him. 18 years later, his son goes on a quest to gather all of his fathers bones, which apparently rest with each of the fighters that ambushed him.

What's unusual about this film is that most of the combat is done with various weapons. If you have a favorite martial arts weapon, it's probably in this movie (although I was disappointed that the fan fight was so short). The sets in this movie look great, as do the costumes, creating a very colorful film that is pleasing to the eye.

The quality of the DVD is ok. The transfer is full-frame. While the film is not re-mastered, most of the film is quite vibrantly colered.

In summery: great martial arts film, good dvd, excellent addition to your collection.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ti Lung stars in dual role in minor kung fu epic
This Hong Kong kung fu film from 1979 offers a more complicated cross-generational plot than usual as a group of children seen in a prologue and flashbacks reunite, all grown up, to get revenge for crimes committed against their parents. Star Ti Lung plays both a father and his grown son in separate scenes. Although the English dubbing is terrible, there is a very nice score of original Chinese music. The photography and set design are above average, although the plot does get confusing. It all culminates in a big, gimmicky battle in a palace as the grown children take on evil master Wang Ching (a perennial villain in these films). Other kung fu greats in the cast include female star Hsu Feng and high-kicker Tan Tao Liang.

2-0 out of 5 stars Vosloo fan reviews the Revenger
I bought this movie from Amazon because it had Arnold Vosloo in it. It's about a man who meets up with a friend(Vosloo)and it changes his life. Unknown to the main character his long lost friend is up to his neck in trouble with a crooked man. He spend most of the movie trying to get his life back. Not a bad movie, but Arnold is only in it for about the first 15 minutes. A must have for die-hard Vosloo fans. It's one of his first movies-89.

2-0 out of 5 stars Arnold Vosloo fan reviews The Revenger
I bought this movie through Amazon because Arnold Vosloo was in it. For any Vosloo fan you should at least rent it. It's nice to see Arnold in any movie, but he is only in it for about 15 min-the story line isn't bad. A sax player meets up with an old friend(Arnold)and unknowingly gets into his troubles and tries to get his life back. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Man and the perfect killing machine
This bubblegum action thriller directed by John Eyres is clearly inspired by films like Die Hard, where a building is held hostage by terrorists. The twist here is that the head terrorist is a cyborg, a "perfect synthetic warrior" produced by the American's ATR, Advanced Technical Research unit (whose project explains the title). What this kind of genre pic needs is a simple narrative but the screenplay by Stephen Lister juggles too many plot elements - the President's daughter as the main hostage, the staff hostages of the hospital location, the cyborg, the FBI's defence, the ATR, and the lone intruder played by Martin Kove - and Eyres gives them all an equal lack of weight, with things not helped by the one note copy of Danny Elfman's Batman theme as music score from Gary Pinder. We get mercilessly bogged down with the antagonism between FBI Paul Koslo and ATR Joss Ackland, when we just want to get back to the building, and Koslo in particular is all bad haircut and swearing machismo. It helps that Kove has a self-deprecating humour and although they aren't given the material, he and Meg Foster as the President's daughter have a funny rapport. Lister provides two laugh lines - 1 being the cyborg's expression of threatened "raining hostages", and Kove re the cyborg "His stairs don't reach the attic". The cyborg is played by Frank Zagarino as a perfect gay icon - no body hair, peroxided, suntan, and gladiator chest - which kind of deflates the idea of him having a girlfriend or the attempt at romantic tension between he and Foster, though ironically Foster's unique eyes are creepier than his robotic ones. To create tension Eyres cross-cuts madly, uses crowd panic for the initial invasion, sets up that one hostage is killed who later reappears with the others, includes some bad rear projection, and doesn't forget the cliches of slow motion for climactic confrontations. Lister provides a redemptive sci fi payoff for the conclusion. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Just Shoot Me!
The title indicates a genre populated by movies such as "Armageddon" (seriously funny Bruce Willis) or "Deep Impact" (straight to the end of the World - almost). Well, only the title could indicate quality. The characters are cast in a grey, two-dimensional plot which offers nothing but repeated yawns. I actually didn't manage to view through in one night. As for technical quality on DVD: Forget it!

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT RECCOMENDED
DO NOT CONFUSE THIS MOVIE WITH ONE BY THE SAME NAME ABOUT THE END TIMES. IT IS NOT THE SAME MOVIE. NOT A GOOD MOVIE, NO POINT TO IT.

1-0 out of 5 stars You Have Got To Be Kidding!
Mindless, numbing garbage -- plain and simple. Don't get ripped off by wasting money on this completely ridiculous FLIM!

1-0 out of 5 stars Possibly the Worst Sci-Fi Movie Ever Made!
A worthless plot combine with truly awful acting in the dazzling rendition of mindlessness. If I had anything to do with this ridiculous waste of celluloid I would shoot myself. 3-0 out of 5 stars Moments Of Clarity
There are scenes within this film that individually stand out and could compete with Hollywood's best. Unfortunately, there are other moments that make little or no sense, seem out of context and at times contradictory. Were there two directors? Was there even one? Someone in Hollywood must be asking themselves "What Happened?" on this wayward sci-fi adventure. Oh yeah, there's also very little sci-fi, or adventure. But for moments of clarity, and moments of New Mexico beauty, this is a decent film. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sci-fi action adventure at it's best Aliens meet Terminator
This has got to be the best and the most funniest action adventure sci fi I had ever seen. I'd seen it over 5 times and I still love every moment of it. It's scary, funny, and it has alot of pulse pounding action. The Bad guy robot was very scary It has all the elements like action and suspense that makes it all worth the watch.
It's definitely like Alien meets Terminator.
Very good movie.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dreadful
I recently saw this film on one of the Cinemax channels a while ago,and I must say, that this film is very, very bad. It's so bad in fact,I don't think it should get any stars.First off, what the hell is up with the acting? It's some of the worst I've EVER seen! It's so bad,it makes Madonna's acting look like it should win an academy award. The acting is absolutely terrible.Second, the photography SUCKS.I don't know what kind of camera the film makers used. The lighting is awful too.And third, the script is seriously padded, along with the storyline and plot, which did not make ANY sense whatsoever.Flat and extremely unimaginative. Now, the film DOES have it's good points, the special FX and gore galore being the best features, but all in all, there really isn't much to recommend here. I never saw Project-Shadowchaser 1-2,but they can't be any worse than this.Avoid,avoid,avoid.Rated R-contains gory sci-fi violence and strong language. ... Read more
