3-0 out of 5 stars Overall, pretty fun movie
During college, my roommate and I probably watched this movie twice a month, for two years. Something about it was so cheesy, that it was fun. Even though there are some very bizarre scenes (like the girls locker room breaking into song), the story does send a good message about being yourself. If you don't know the story, it involves a nerdy girl who discovers that on her 16th birthday, she will come into her powers as a witch. Of course the first thing she does, is make herself the most popular girl in school. This also gets her the cutest boy. In the end, the girl realizes that she needs to be liked for herself, and that her real friends will always be there. As for the boy.......you'll have to see what happens at the ever-present school dance (if you'll notice, everyone, but the main players, wear the same clothes at every dance). All in all, it is a fun movie. For anyone who is looking for a copy, I don't know if this will help, but Disney channel plays "Teen Witch" quite often. You may be able to check listings, and catch it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gotta love Teen Witch!
I love Teen Witch! I saw it on the Disney channel many years back and ever since then I could not get the movie out of my head. I didn't know the title so I searched every movie database on the internet looking for a movie about a teenage girl who goes to a gypsy and becomes the most popular girl in school. I love every part of the movie (okay, except the cheesy locker room scene where the cheerleaders sing and dance "I like boys"). This past summer I saw the title "Teen Witch" when I was flipping through movie channels and automatically thought that could be the movie I was looking for all this time. Then I got the VHS for Christmas. I highly recommend the film for its moral of self-confidence, for the cute love story (the guy is sooo hot, even in 80's clothes), and the fashion Louise struts after she becomes popular. I think its every girl's dream to be popular in high school and get the most popular, handsome guy in school. I have watched this movie so many times and never get sick of it! It may be a tad cheesy, but keep an open mind.

5-0 out of 5 stars When is Teen Witch going to be on DVD?
I love this movie! i really want to get it on dvd. so if you could let me know when it is on dvd that wouild be GREAT! Thanks!

4-0 out of 5 stars great for the imagination!

5-0 out of 5 stars GHOULIES AND CRITTERS
I WILL BE 14 ON THE 9TH. I HAVE THIS MOVIE ON VIDEO AND I KNOW WHERE TO GET PART 2 BUT I JUST HOPE THAT THEY STILL HAVE IT CAUSE THEY DID HAVE 3 COPIES OF IT. I REALLY LIKE THE GHOULIES SERIES I HAVEN'T SEEN PART 4 BUT PART 3 IS MY FAVORITE. ITS FUNNY THE GHOULIES EFFECTS ARE REALLY GOOD I MEAN I DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE PUPPETS OR WHAT BUT IF THEY ARE I PAYED CLOSE ATTENTION TO HOW THEY WALK AND MOVE AND I DID NOT SEE ONE FLAW LIKE TWO OF THE CHUCKY MOVIES IN WHICH I LIKE THOSE TOO BUT ANYWAY THIS SERIES AND THE CRITTER SERIES ARE VERY SIMMILAR. I MEAN THEY BOTH EQUAL UP TO PART 4'S AND THEY ARE CHEAP FUNNY COOL SCI FI'S I OWN CRITTERS 2 ON VIDEO. I LIKE THIS MOVIE YOU REALLY NEED TO SEE IT. ITS REFRESHING.

3-0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER KICK TO THE GHOULIES!
If you are wanting a horror movie that will give chills then look elsewhere. This film is not meant to be serious, its purpose is to entertain rather than scare. I actually use the term 'horror' very loosely when applying it to this movie, really it is just a camp, college movie with a horror element. The main plot doesn't really revolve around the funny little creatures, rather it focuses on the attempts of two rival gangs (the Gammas and the Betas) to out 'prank' each other and claim the much coveted pranking crown. The Ghoulies do however provide some comical moments and some of the effects are entertaining.

It is hard to believe that this film was made in the nineties. It has a very dated mid-eighties feel to it, due to the use of directing and scripting styles that were popular during that era, as well as the use of gratuitous nudity, which has become expected of films within this category. These are not complaints, they actually make the movie watchable. After all, the eighties was the decade which invented this genre and to present it in any other format just wouldn't fit. The acting is probably also slightly better than one would normally expect fom such a movie, but then again, the script provides no particular challenges.

There are similarities to movies such as Critters and Gremlins, but Ghoulies never comes close to achieving the same standards. That's not to say that it isn't worth watching, just don't expect too much, and if you enjoy silly films, such as Troma's offerings then you will undoubtedly enjoy this. If you can get it cheap, then this is overall, a fun movie to have in your collection.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap wannabe slasher flick
Ghoulies III is a cheap excuse for a Ghoulies film. Stupid NEW story line, NO gore, NO horror, and very little horror. The story, a cheap slapped-together piece of filth, about a comic that brings talking Ghoulies to life. And, just for kicks, there is some nudity thrown in. Don't waste your time with this "horror-comedy".

5-0 out of 5 stars Ghoulies Forever
As the title implies, in Ghoulies III, the gang goes to college. I'm not sure if they were actually enrolled or not or if they went to any classes. But let's be honest. Is that the real purpose of college? Everyone knows that the american college student's raison de etre is to drink mass quantities of beer, sneak into the all-girls dormitory, and, above all, PARTY! And this is exactly what the Ghoulies do (in addition to disembowling a few nerds along the way). Why would a bunch of terrorizing little demons be any different? In fact the Ghoulies make a seemless transition into the college environment. No one finds it strange that, among the regular crowd of humans, there are a bunch of grotesque knee-high demons scurrying around. This is a testament to the validity of America as the great and noble melting pot. The spirt of America truely knows no boundries. It doesn't discriminate against race, colour, sex, handicap, or even species. When the college students see the Gholouies, they don't see them as disgusting bloodthirsty little creatures; they see them as equals, and treat them as such. As it turned out, they could have even learned a thing or two from the Ghoulies. In one scene that is permantely etched upon my brain, the Ghoulies, about three or four of them if I remember correctly, are sitting beside a giant steel fridge stacked with cans and cans of beer. There is a huge wall of beer in front of them--no less I imagine than four-hundered cans. And the ghoulies, like model college students, polish every can off, with relish I might add. Then, when they're finished the beer, they lie back on the floor, their stomaches swelled out like watermelons. After this, the Ghoulies sneak into the all-girls dormitory. And there is a hilariously steamy shower scene which follows that is truly one of the best moments in cinema. This movie proves that the Ghoulies are one of the most adaptable species on earth. Perhaps this has something to do with their origins in the netherworld. Whatever the case you can be rest assured that these lovable and vicious critters will continue to be featured in movies. At present there are four Ghoulies movies. And there is no end in sight. At least there shouldn't be. After all, the possibilities are literally endless: Ghoulies in Space. Ghoulies on Vacation. Ghoulies go to Vegas. Ad infinitum. Long live the Ghoulies!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but to close to a cheap college porno flick
This movie was really goofy and laughable almost all the time. The only problem is that it is just a cheap porno type flick. The movie has no resemblence to the first film and even runs on a totally diffrent story line. The only original thing are three of the origanal ghoulies. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Comedy Werewolf Movies- Never Go Wrong
Well I have to say that this was a typical 80's movie. And that doesn't make it bad, that makes it very good. The acting could've been better but it was pretty good for a non all star cast. If you like a comedic twist on horror, then this movie is for you.

3-0 out of 5 stars Poor neglected housewife Susan Blakely becomes a werewolf
"My Mom's a Werewolf" is one of those films where you think somebody came up with the title and they were into production before there was actually a script. The 1989 film is not an offensive horror comedy, but it is not especially good. Susan Blakely, thirteen years after she was the female lead on "Rich Man, Poor Man," plays Leslie Shaber, a typical suburban houseful who is pretty much ignored by her less than loving family. Then one day she goes out to buy a new collar for the family dog but ends up in bed with Harry Thropen (John Saxon), a weird guy (I mentioned John Saxon played him, right?) who owns a pet shop. During their little romp Harry bits Leslie on the toe...

Now, stop for a moment and try to anticipate where this story is going. If you are thinking anything along the lines of "Teen Wolf," or a comparable horror comedy where being a monster turns out to be a good thing, this is not what writer Mark Pirro and director Michael Fischa come up with for their little film. Leslie's daughter Jennifer (Katrina Caspary), finds out mom's little secret when the hair, the fangs, and the craving for raw meat becomes rather obvious. But it turns out the transformation is not yet complete and Jennifer tries to save her mom from having to go live happily ever after with good old Harry (Harry, get it? The werewolf's name is "Harry").

At least "My Mom's a Werewolf" acknowledges that it is going for the yucks. All of the characters are overblown stereotypes and at one point it dawned on me that if this film had been made a decade later it might have been a direct to MST3K film. In addition to Blakely the cast as John Schuck ("MacMillan and Wife") as the husband, Ruth Buzzi ("Laugh-In") as Madame Gypsy, and Marcia Wallace ("The Bob Newhart Show") as Peggy, all of whom are other former familiar faces from television who have to be wondering what happened to their careers. Actually, Blakely's performance is the best of the bunch and there is something rather sad that this particular injury is added to the insult of her home life.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Werewolf Movie That Will Have You Laughing!
This is one of those werewolf films that's more comedy than anything else. Leslie, (Susan Blakley) gets bitten by pet store owner Harry (John Saxon) who is in need of a wife to keep the werewolf legacy alive. Leslie's daughter Jennifer (Katrina Caspary) follows her mother to the pet store (thinking she's having an affair with another man) and watches thru a backdoor window as Harry seduces and bites her mother. Jennifer then turns to her best friend Stacey (who's a monster comic fanatic) and Madame Gypsy (Ruth Buzzi)to help rid her mother of this curse. Leslie begins to grow fangs and sees more hair than usual on her arms and legs and things get pretty "hairy" after awhile. Jennifer's Halloween party is a riot with Leslie covered in long hair, fangs, etc. while all along the party goers think she's made up for Halloween. Finally, seeing as though holy water, crosses and garlic don't work on the werewolf, a knife made of silver does the trick in an all out fight between daughter, mother and werewolf in the bedroom. Saxon is stabbed by the silver knife and Leslie is rid of the curse. Again, this is a funny movie and even kids will enjoy it.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Columbo fan must dissent
I loved the Columbo series. This was one of the smartest running shows on television and I had only wished they would have made more. The deductive and inductive reasoning in almost all episodes is a perfect way to teach social science methodology, which I do. However, this episode is a bit disappointing. I know that saying so is somewhat sacrilege because it was the first of the NBC episodes and directed by Speilberg. However, there is substantially less Columbo in this Columbo than almost any other episode. Jack Cassidy is the real focus. And Columbo's victory over Cassidy's character is not arrived at in the usual deductive method. There is much more induction and luck here. After this episode, the writers allowed for more step-by-step logic, thereby giving Falk's acting skills a chance to shine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rare Barbara Colby Performance
Though many remember and enjoy Columbo (and rightly so), few may remember Barbara Colby who skillfully plays blackmailer/murder victim Lily LaSanka in this episode. Ms. Colby was a gifted actor, with an earthy sexiness, who made a name for herself on the stage. In the early seventies she brought herself and her talent to broader audiences through her work on television. Twice she played a hooker named Sherry on the "Mary Tyler Moore Show", with hysterical results. So well liked was she by the MTM team, that she was cast as Julie Erskine on the hit spin-off series "Phyllis". The comic chemistry between Cloris Leachman and Colby was magical. Together with Richard Schaal they had a unique and wonderful energy that showed great promise. But tragedy struck...shortly after the third episode of "Phyllis" was in the can, Barbara Colby was murdered in a drive-by shooting incident that remains unsolved to this day. This Columbo vhs offers you the rare chance to view this remarkable woman at work...she is perfect as Lily, all false modesty and big Cheshire Cat grins. Short of that there is the wonderful Jack Cassidy (who had an untimely death himself); and the magnificent Peter Falk as Columbo. P.S. Many people believe that Falk's portrayal of Columbo to be based on Lt.Kinderman, as portrayed by Lee J. Cobb in "The Exorcist"; the author of the novel, William Peter Blatty, certainly thinks so! I must say, I agree that there is a definate simialarity! Check it out! And if you can, check out the first three episodes of "Phyllis"; the series was erratic in quality, but the first three shows are classic television at it's best..it would have been a very different show had Colby survived.

5-0 out of 5 stars There's just one thing that I'm not clear about...
This is arguably the best of the Columbo TV mysteries. Columbo takes on veteran bad guy Jack Cassidy in their subtlest game of cat and mouse. Columbo piles on mind game after mind game as Cassidy slowly succumbs to the inevitable. In addition to being one of the earliest Columbo films, this one is directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Steven Bochco. The price alone here makes it worth your while.

5-0 out of 5 stars Two Thumbs Up for Columbo's First NBC Murder Mystery
After two successful TV movies, Peter Falk moved his rumpled detective to a regular slot on the "NBC Murder Mystery," which alternated "Columbo" each week with "McCloud," "MacMillan and Wife" and others. Appropriately, the Columbo's first NBC Murder Mystery stars Jack Cassady, one of the series most prolific murderers. This time around, Cassady plays the second half of a writing team, who murders his partner after the latter decides it's time for the team to break up. It's classic Columbo, introducing some of the detective's most famous and ever-present props, including his rumpled raincoat and his unforgettable 1956 Puegot jalopy. Oh . . . and there's just one more thing . . . This is a must for Columbo fans. If you don't buy it for yourself, pick up a copy for the Mrs. ... Read more

I normally hate horror spoofs, but this movie made me laugh. The suspence is great and the plot does not get off the subject like most spoofs. This movie can be viewed by the whole family (YES, EVEN THE KIDS CAN SEE IT), because there is no nudity or bad language. Buy it today! ... Read more
