Great Adaptation
A wonderful up to date retelling of Jane Austen's, 'Emma'. Cher (Silverstone) has a privileged life, she goes to a great school and is popular along with her good friend Dionne (Dash).

She lives with her widowed father (Hedaya) and the only pebble under her perfectly manicured feet is her ex step-brother Josh (Rudd).

Cher loves to play matchmaker and can't resist the challenge when she meets the new girl in school, Ty, who isn't exactly 'popular' material at first glance. Having taken her under her wing and given her a complete makeover, Cher then tries to match her up with various boys.

This is alright until Ty takes a fancy to Josh and then Cher suddenly realises that she has feelings for him herself - but who will get the man?

Silverstone is absolutely fantastic in this film. She handles the difficult role SO well and you can't help but really like Cher and want her to get the man of her dreams for all her obvious flaws.

Add a brilliant combination of comedy, both oneliners and visual, and the fact that it's literally such a colourful movie and you've got yourself a film that will leave you smiling for ages afterwards.

Wonderfully directed and casted,"Clueless" features some memorable performance by Julie Brown (as Ms. Stoger, the physical education instructor), Donald Faison (as Dionne's boyfriend Murray) and Justin Walker, as Christian Stovitz. Walker who plays his role with comedic sensibility is great and witty as the boy Cher has the hots for, although she has little knowledge about his background.

"Clueless" is one of the best films released in the 1990's due to his smart use of popular lexicon, icons, and attitudes that can be attributed to most American teenagers. This is Silverstone's greatest performance to date, seeing that most of her later works did not go well with critics or filmgoers. Although a television series based on the film was launched in 1997, it couldn't capture the charm, wit, and performances of this film. What can I say about this movie? It's like any other teenage movie, about teenagers in high school trying to meet cute guys and stuff. Same old thing! I used to not like it at the beginning, but now I sorta like it, it's alright. I got it as a present for my 8th grade birthday party, I didn't even know that movie until I got it. So anyways, I think you should buy this movie even if you dont like teenager movies, youll like this one!

I love this movie so much that its not even worth talking about, because no words will express what a brilliantly put together,acted, written and presented film this is.And talk about feel-good, and FUN.Also, Clueless is living proof that there are teen comedies out there that aren't dumb, over the top shallow.Yes, Clueless is a light, and fluffy film, but since that is what it sets out to do(be light and fluffy and entertaining),thats just fine.And it accomplishes that goal perfectly-Clueless is a film second to none in its genre.

What sets it apart from other dumb tripe out there and makes it enjoyable for even the most weary of grown-ups is its great cast, unbelievably witty writing, and irresistable storylines that you can't help but get caught up in. Men in Underwear

Mario Lopez does a great job in this movie. It was a good movie. I would recommend you watch it. Nice looking guys in this one.

Macho, well-scrubbed hunks.
A previous rewiewer has said it well: The plot is silly. The only reason to see this movie is the striking young men who jock around being cadets in their underwear or less. If you like this, go for it. It was enough to make me buy the movie and see it twice. As I think about it, I believe I'll go home and see it again. Maybe with the sound off; it won't make that much difference.

Sometimes one wants a plot with one's hunks, and a good choice for this is "Moon Base 44" with Michael Pare. The hunks are older than in "Absolution" and not so well scrubbed, in spite of the shower scene, but the plot is downright interesting.

Of course, the best science fiction/hunk movie at present is "12 Monkeys," in which Brad Pitt and a surprisingly well-built Bruce Willis bare all for their art. This would be engrossing even without the nudity.

Silly Plot & Predictable Dialogue but Interesting Scenery
This movie will probably excite only two groups of people: fans of latin hunk Mario Lopez and individuals who like to see scantily clad, well-built young men.

The movie purports to be sci-fi but the plot is confusing and unrealistic even for sci-fi standards. The dialogue is predictable and the actors try to make it serious but you can't do much with "you don't wanna ask questions" and other frequently used dialogue lines.

Mario Lopez stars and tries to act but the script forces him to behave and talk like his Slater character on "Saved by the Bell." Even his lead-up dialogue to his love scene with Jamie Pressley is predictable. The scene leaves you watching them talk and then all of a sudden they kiss and are in bed together. Lopez's physique is seen frequently, along with numerous other handsome men, so if you like hunky men, it's not bad. But, having seen his ability to do more than just mouth lines in "Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story", fans of Lopez will be disappointed that he's in another Slateresque tough guy, I can kick your butt role.

Richard Grieco and Jamie Pressley are also wasted in this film, although Grieco is humorous at times. However, you can tell he's trying to "act" dramatic and the effect ruins the lines.

If you're looking for an interesting story, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for dramatic sci-fi action, you'll be disappointed. And fans of Lopez will hope he finds a better script for his next project. ... Read more

A quick Review
Boltneck
Frank Stein uses his father's research to bring a popular jock back form the dead in order to get popular. Good news is that Frank is in the in-crowd with the newly resurrected Karl. Bad news is that Karl was given the brain of a mass murder. Now Frank has to stop Karl before he kills the homecoming queen (Buffy's Bianca Lawson).
This movie was done before on Fox with Daniel Ragsdale of Herman's Head fame. This time we get Matthew Lawrence, along with Kenny Blank (in one of his rare on camera roles), Christine Larkin, Richard Moll, Judge Reinhold and Shelly Duvall. If you need a harmless movie for Halloween, this is the one to show.

something about this and idle hands.
im not into horror movies but i saw this in the horror section. the actor that they bring back to life was in coming soon and so i checked this movie out. its basically a funny, teenagy, frankensteiny type thing. if you liked "idle hands" youll like this too, also the other way around. if you like this check out idle hands too..

Soundtrack information
So far I haven't been able to locate a soundtrack to this kooky, wacky, zany movie, but I am seriously wanting/needing the DVD. (It's on my wish list now).

The Party Rave during the credits is based on the "Mad Monster Party" song by Edith Ennis from the movie of the same name. But, it is a remix performed by Ryeland Allison entitled "Moster Party Song". I have yet to find a recording of my very own, so if anyone else does, please clue me in.

The Jazz tune is entitled "Don't Waste My Time" performed by Extract; written by Kurt Metzler and Marjorie Extract. I hope this information help you all out.

I missed the first half hour or so but I caught on, it wasn't too shabby over all, for a slapstick teen flick. But ah, I liked the soundtrack better too, heh. Ok I've been racking my brain to remember the title and artist of the song that played a few times through the movie.. it was a jazzy/blues little number. Help?

BORN GOOD!
This film impressed me with the tense plot and excellent acting from a relatively unknown cast. Corey Feldman is hysterical. The squemish might want to fast-forward through a disturbing scene where a woman gets her finger chopped in a paper cutter! Overall, I really enjoyed this picture.

ALL GOOD!
I really enjoyed watching this video. The actors were all really strong. I was surprised how good Corey Feldman is, and I haven't liked him since "Stand By Me." This picture deals with teens who rob a bank and essentially every thing that can go wrong does. The paper cutter scene is awesome...worthy of Hitchcock himself. "Born Bad" is "all good."

Darn GOOD!
Corey Feldman is hilarious in this movie. I thought that all the clever plot twists and turns were great. The last half hour is intense. Although I didn't recognize some of the actors, I thought they all did a really good job. Definitely worth seeing!

I think this action-drama was GREAT!
At the end its really tense and I just shaked the last 15 minutes. Even if the end wasnt as good as you would like, it was still wort seeing it.
And I think the actors did a great job, even if they warent famous.

Born Bad is all good
Sure to be a cult classic! This gripping teen crime drama got so intense at one point that my girlfriend squeezed the circulation out of my hand! Corey Feldman is funnier than I have ever seen him. The non-stop tension makes this picture worth buying on DVD. You will thank me later. ... Read more

Remake From The Deep
This is not the original starring Doug McClure, but the remake staring David Carradine and Emma Samms. While not the original, the story is pretty much the same (complete with some footage from the original added in).

A small town is the setting as a fish plant is targeted for dumping chemicals in the local waters. The fish have gotten bigger as a result but something else has gone wrong as well. The chemicals being dumped are needed by a new resident in the waters, a fish man created by the military.

David Carradine is the head of the plant and is trying to stop his employees from dumping. To make matters worse, one of the animal rights activists has a thing for his daughter. Then people start to be killed in the water. A shark is blamed but it does not explain why only male bodies have been found. None of the females have been recovered. Then most of the animal rights people, and Carradine's daughter, are killed or taken one night.

No one seems to know what is going on except for reporter Emma Samms. But then a survivor shows up and the town finds out that there is something fishy going on. Samms is really a doctor who helped create the creatures. She is trying to stop them and exposes the military involvement. But one survivor points to the possibility of others. The military does not care, they will just blow everything up.

Good ending, nice twist and I liked the way the creatures don't occur just from dumping, but were lab created (a slight improvement over the original). Still, it is a nice remake but I found it hard to take David Carradine seriously (I kept seeing flashes of Revenge of the Nerds). Definitely one to see if you like Roger Corman or a good creature flick.

fish men want our women!
Beware all ye expecting the 1980 version of this movie starring Doug McClure! This is a 1996 remake for cable (Showtime), its' real title being Roger Corman Presents 'Humanoids From the Deep'.

This drecky mess stars Emma Samms and David Caradine, along with a number of less noticeable actors who currently reside in the 'where are they now' file. The plot involves a big business/government cover up (gee, how very original), toxic chemicals in the ecosystem, and a small, coastal town under siege by hungry, mutated fish men.

Apparently the government contracted a private company to splice the genetic material of fish with that of convicted felons in an effort to create a race of amphibian soldiers. Sounds like a reasonable idea, right? Anyway, the government isn't happy with the results, so they terminate the project, but some of the fish men escape.

Cut to a small, coastal fishing village. Canco, the major fish catching and canning company in the area, is responsible for dumping a biohazardous growth hormone into the waters to embiggen the fish. Actually, it's one particularly dislikable guy named Bill who is responsible. David Caradine, who plays Wade Parker, also works for the company (seems like he and the evil Bill run the company), finds out what's going on and demands that the dumping stop. Bill agrees, but only to placate Wade as there's good money to be made in those big fish.

Enter a nameless eco-group, whose leader, Matt, is played by Justin Walker. This group knows chemicals are being dumped into the waters, and are protesting Canco. Later they videotape Bill and his cronies at work, pollutin' the waters. No real attempt was made by Bill or his evil lackeys to cover up what they were doing, as they did it in broad daylight, with huge, yellow drums with biohazardous markings clearly visible, so it's no big surprise they got caught on tape. Also, it seems this growth hormone is attracting the mutated fish men, as they need the chemical to survive.

After the death of a little boy, completely ripped off from a much better movie, the fish men start to make their presence known. Their attacks become more brazen, and we soon find out that they are kidnapping, not killing, local females for mating purposes. Yuck....Damn those amorous fish men, stealin' our wimmen!

Man this movie had a lot of problems...worst being the inept direction. The actors, most being fairly capable, seemed totally mismanaged. An extremely poor script and plot certainly didn't help matters any. The thing that really annoyed me was how so many technical aspects were glossed over, like the DNA splicing, effects of toxic chemicals on the environment, the military involvement, etc. No real thought was given to any of these aspects, instead skimming the surface of theses many themes to aid (hinder) the plot along. Mutations, DNA splicing, and conspiracies being the crux of the movie, it's painfully obvious that the writer threw this stuff in the story, without having any real knowledge to support it. And the sets...the interiors were so obviously fake, making parts of the movie seem like a high school production. The characters' motivations are all over the place, causing the actors to appear indifferent to events that should mean more to them than they do. A specific example is when Wade's teenage daughter is taken by the fish men, and presumed dead. Wade doesn't seem all that broken up about it. At some points he does seemed upset, but given that your offspring may have been eaten by a mutated fish man, I'd figured you'd be pretty horrified and suitably despondent, but not so here.

On a positive note, the creatures did look kinda cool, but it was obvious that the suits (no CGI here) allowed for very little mobility, hindering the action in their limited screen time. The suits were fairly detailed, but I think if they were simplified, allowing more mobility, they would have been much more effective. The gore was needless, and the blood looked painfully fake.

In the cheap thrills department, there are a couple of brief nudity shots, if that's your thing, but they were unnecessary, and only served to further exemplified the total lameness of the movie. "Hey, we know this movie stinks, but here's some breasts!" Emma Samms, never got au natural, retaining some of her dignity, but not much.

There are some extras, including a director's commentary (!?) which I was interested in hearing, but was unable to sit through this movie again so soon. Also, there are some trailers for other movies, including one for a movie called Watchers 3. In watching this, I was amazed at how blatantly this feature ripped off the movie Predator. I don't mind producers copping ideas off better movies, but at least try to make it seem not so glaringly obvious. Geez...

Have you seen the original version lately?
Perhaps memories fade, because I just viewed both versions of "Humanoids From The Deep" and found the original to be unwatchable. There is a reason Barbara Peters has not become a successful director, and it's because her film is uneven and flat. If it is the amateurish quality that makes people yearn for the original in order to laugh at it rather than be engrossed in the narrative, then those people should watch the original. For those with the expectation of getting caught up in a scary story, the remake is the only film to watch. It follows a similar story but has better caliber actors and some genuinely funny moments like Clint Howard observing that Justin Walker is the only one who survived a monster attack and asking "Did you know these monsters?" See only the remake.

Hello Emma!
Emma Samms is great in this picture. Robert Carradine also stars in this story of mutated "fish men" that attack a small village. The picture has some great scares and a real good sense of humor. Highly recommended.

A Remake Which Should Never Have Been Made
Purely by accident, I ended up with this movie. I was after the original.
Anyway, the movie shamelessly pulls scenes from the original 1980's version. The original was scary, this one is . . . stupid. It follows the same storyline, but without the grainly graphics and bad lighting, it just doesn't cut it.
