5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Movie
I think that this movie shows that women can do anything men can do.It was the best movie I have ever seen. All of the actors were great. It was the perfect mix of comedy, action, & suspence. It was the perfect movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very well done
This show was well done all around. The acting was great. The storyline was believable and worked well. It kept a good pace and you didn't get lost in too much dialoge or action. I'd recommend it to all my friends.

4-0 out of 5 stars Actions speak more than words
I liked the story, but also liked the facial expressions and caring shown. Mitzi Rapture is a person assigned as a bodyguard who was serious and closed off from feeling. But when she would look at something that touched her like the deaf kids at the school or picture of her friend, you could almost feel what she felt.

5-0 out of 5 stars His Bodyguard
This movie is absolutely great! Though not a box office hit, it still has it's uniqueness and quality. Full of both suspense and love, never have I stayed up late to see a show this great.Watch it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Deaf Man Witnesses Breakin,Former Cop Assigned To Protect
I think that Mitzi Kapture is really good in this movie and it proves women can be strong and protect men instead of a man protecting a women ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A Bridge to Bad Parenting
I saw this film during a course for American Sign Language and procured a copy to study the signing. The actress playing the lead is quite skilled and I enjoyed her portrayal very much. The story was rather generic - but was fairly good. I felt that the film was well done (if rather an unpleasent tale) for most of the movie - but the ending was too quick, too simple. If you seek a good movie to study sign language this is an excellent choice. If you like movies with more finess regarding the topic of deafness I suggest you take a look at 'Beyond Silence'.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bridge to Silence
This is a wonderful story of conflicts between a deaf daughter and a hearing mother. The acting is believable and the story keeps you interested in what is going to happen next. I show it to my ASL students for a look at Deaf Culture. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Instant Classic!!!
I was up late writing a term paper last semester in the computer room in the library, and I was all bummed because my frat brothers were partying with the Pi Phis. So I went into this chatroom, after I finished writing my introduction, and some dude from Australia recommended some movie called "The Clown at Midnight", but I forgot by the time I got to Blockbusters and rented "Clown White" instead.

Apparently, "clown white" is a color that make-up artists use to describe the color of makeup that clowns put on their face (if it is a white clown). And the movie is so awesome!!! Its about a little boy who is all sad cause he's deaf, and he meets this white clown who cant talk or anything, but the clown is funny and nice to the boy, and the boy ends up all happy even though he cant hear.

At first I was watching it by myself, but then R-Dawg (he's the chef at our frat house) came in and watched it with me. Next thing you know, half of my brothers are in there watching it. This has to be one of the most classic movies about clowns!!!

And now its a tradition at our frat house. After every party we throw starts to wind down, everybody crowds into the lounge and we put in "Clown White". The chicks really dig it, and I feel good that I turned my whole frat onto "art films", especially ones with clowns.

1-0 out of 5 stars Snow White with mimes? Not for children!!!
Call me a traditionalist, but I just didn't "get" this movie. It's about Adolphus, a high-fashion, heavily made-up, futuristic robot alien who visits Earth in a mission to reenact Snow White with a troupe of mimes he meets in a deli. For realism, Adlophus uses his shrink ray (which actually looks like a hairy dill pickle) to shrink 7 of the mimes to be the 7 dwarves. Personally, I found the use of real little people -- shirtless and smeared in clown makeup -- extremely tasteless. Of course, Adolphus plays Snow White and is extremely wooden and not believable at all. He definitely needed acting lessons and a shower. At times, the movie was overly artsy: the apple biting scene took 35 minutes (it was just Adolphus biting an apple over and over again!) and the "Mirror on the Wall" was just stock footage of an obese man eating a cheeseburger in a restaurant.

I was very angry because I thought this was a children's movie and I showed it at my son Van's 7th birthday party and the kids all cried and didn't want cake after the movie. I'm just thankful they were too young to pick up on how offensive this movie was to women.

Parents: this is NOT a movie for children. This is a movie for mimes and maybe small clowns. Don't make the same mistake I did. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars NEGOTIATING THRILLS
DEAD SILENCE is based on Jeffery Deavers' excellent "A Maiden's Grave," and as is in most instances, the book is better than the movie. But to screenwriter Donald Stewart's credit, his script maintains much of Deavers' plotting and nuances to be a credible adaptation.
A busload of deaf mute students is held hostage by a notorious bankrobber, played with effective and cold mania by the underrated Kim Coates. The schoolteacher (Marlee Matlin) is heroic in trying to come up with ways to get her kids out of this mess. But FBI negotiator John Potter (played with controlled excellence by the ever dependable James Garner) has his own way of dealing with the hostage situation.
There are some nifty plot twists (a norm for the crafty Deavers) and the cast plays them out well. Director Daniel J. Petrie, Jr., focuses on the characterizations with minimal over-wrought histrionics. Charles Martin Smith plays the swarmy assistant attorney general; Scott Speedman in an early role plays the heroic Stevie; and Lolita Davidovich comes on late as a hostage negotiator who has had her turn with Coates.
A sharp, intelligent thriller.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dead Silence
After escaping from prison and crashing their car, three psychopathic killers hi-jack a bus full of deaf children and their teacher and take them hostage in a slaughter-house. The FBI arrive at the scene and it's up to the tired cheif (James Garner) to negotiate with the criminals over a cell-phone.

Although it begins promisingly, the comunication between Garner and the criminals becomes tedious after some time, and the action doesn't pick up until the lone twist is reveiled. Lack of surprises and action doesn't help either. Garner is good in the role he plays.

If you like this film, I also recommend "The Taking Of Pelem 123".

Overall: 3 stars

Rated R for some graphic violence, language, and explicit sexual dialogue.

5-0 out of 5 stars James Garner is priceless!
James Garner is priceless in this movie! It was hilarious to see some of those 4-letter words coming out of his mouth! My husband & I got the biggest kick out watching him in this role and the movie itself was really good. We enjoyed it and I am waiting for it to come out on DVD.

This unusually taut thriller features James Garner playing againsttype as John Potter, a humorless FBI agent negotiating with an escaped convict, who, alongwith two cronies, has kidnapped a school bus full of deaf students and their teacher (Marlee Matlin). Stashed in an abandoned slaughterhouse, which is asmuch a character as the people in this HBO movie, the convicts and theirprisoners sweat out Potter's refusal to give in to demands, despite the factthat he lost hostages--and the public's faith--his last time around.Garner gives his usual sterling performance, Kim Coates is an evil surprise as the ringleader of the convicts, and Matlin is fine, but underused, in awordless performance. Lolita Davidovich comes in late in the game to tie up the loose ends and give the ending its punch. Director Daniel Petrie Jr.sets up the action during opening credits, an efficiency mirrored throughoutthe movie and capped off by an unexpected, but not out-of-the-blue ending.Donald Stewart (Missing) based his tightly written screenplay on Jeffrey Deaver's novelA Maiden's Grave. --Kimberly Heinrichs ...
