2-0 out of 5 stars ordinary people become murderers
well it is safe to say that I survived this movie but I didnt quite like it all that much. there were things about it that were just too blah. Dina Meyer(Starship Troopers, Johnny Mnemonic) is the hottie in this movie. Todd Field(Eyes Wide Shut, Twister) is the cool guy in this movie. Mackenzie Astin(Sean Astin's brother) is the crazy guy in this movie and Natasha Gregson Wagner(Modern Vampires, Another Day In Paradise) is the annoying one in this movie. Field has written a book called Stranger Than Fiction and he tells the tale to a man at a bar. Astin murders a gay police officer and things go downhill from there. It just spirals into twists that are far too perdictiable but some funny, like the hobo in the back of the car. The old lady had the funniest death of them all. If your a fan of any of the actors you should watch but if your not it's ok if you dont. Also that whole in different colors switch doesnt help at all

5-0 out of 5 stars DARK MYSTERY
At the start of this under appreciated little gem, we meet four typical "yuppie" characters: the lovely Dina Meyer (in one of her best roles yet); the smartly handsome Mackenzie Astin; the straightlaced teacher Todd Field; and the unusually ditzy rich girl, the absolutely fabulous Natasha Gregson Wagner. The first half of the film definitely belongs to the girls, with Wagner just a barrel of laughs. The way these murders occur seems like something out of a three stooges film, but being the schizophrenic film it is, it grows darker and darker, with some interesting plot twists and brutal killings.
The wedding scene is hilarious; Gregson's attempts to murder the nosy old lady neighbor is brilliant; wait till you see how much poison she puts in the woman's cup!
This movie entertained me and made me gasp a couple of times too. Although the sardonic twists are effective, it's a shame to see how these four people are torn apart.
I LOVED IT!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dina Meyer + Interesting Story = Gold
Before I even knew what the film was about, I wanted to see it. i am a huge fan of the beautiful and talented Ms. Meyer and I make it a point to see all of her projects. After discovering what the film was about, I became even more interested in seeing it. I finally saw it, and it far surpassed my expectations. what can I say? I love darkly comedic films such as this, and although the film was obviously inspired by Tarantino and his imitators, it happens to come off as fresh and original. I was thouroughly entertained throughout the entire film and I was surprised by several of the plot twists.

This film also had some great acting. Dina Meyer was, of course, superb. I was pleasantly surprised by both MacKenzie Astin and Todd Field. I had never heard of either of them, and I thought they both turned in fine performances. I was familiar with Natasha Gregson Wagner mainly from Modern Vampires (another great but not well known film) and I thought she was very impressive in ths film.

The DVD itself is nothing to call home about. It is pretty Bare Bones and fullscreen to boot. However, I'm just happy to have this gem preserved on DVD and I will take what I can get.

PS This movie had one of the coolest opening credit sequences I have seen in a while!

5-0 out of 5 stars Strange Is Always Good
I knew absolutely nothing about this movie when I bought it and honestly, wasn't expecting what I got. This film should be more known than what it is because it is an incredible film. Yes, it is far from an original idea (how well do you know your friends?) and it plays with many non-original concepts, but the acting and storyline make up for whatever the movie lacks. Dina Meyer is fantastic in this film and for anyone who hasn't ever heard of her, please watch this and then everything else she's ever done. Todd Field is also remarkable, as is the rest of the cast. It goes to show that a film doesn't need big names to make a film good or an original idea. How the characters interact with each other alone is enough to make this movie great. The dialogue is funny at times and then makes your mouth drop. The only thing wrong with the DVD is that it's not in widescreen. Otherwise, buy this. Buy it now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great comedy-thriller!
This surprisingly funny thriller is nothing but a must-see for all people who like black comedies. The storyline circles around four friends who are getting involved with several more or less dead bodies.

The acting is good but Natasha Gregson Wagner stands out with a wonderful comic/comedy performance. She delivers 99 per cent of the laughs especially in the sequence where they try to get rid of the first body and in the scenes after the old ladies death.

Absolutely worth watching especially if you like Natasha!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A True Terror Classic
When the onslaught of 80's slasher films was in high gear, most ripping off "Halloween", and "Friday The 13th", there were hardly any original frights in the bunch. " A Nightmare On Ellm Street" came along and changed that. This movie, like "Psycho", and "Halloween" before it, and "Scream" after it, changed the world of horror. Good horror films can still happen. A bunch of kids are having nightmares of a ghastly looking killer with knives for fingers. Is he for real?. Will they die if they sleep?. That is such a great, ingenious premise. The movie has several heart pounding scenes that will leave you holding on to your seat. It's that good. Robert Englund, as Freddy Krueger, helped create one of the most memorable and incredible cinema villains of all time. The movie always has that eerie feel and pull of a horrible, sweat soaked nightmare. Wes Craven is truly a master. Heather Langenkamp, as the heroine Nancy, is one of the all time great Scream Queens. This movie is frightening. If you don't like it, you must be an alien. A brilliant, legendary classic. Don't fall asleep!.

5-0 out of 5 stars One, two...Freddy's coming for you....
Horror films usually have the reputation as being mindless slasher movies filled with half-naked (and invariably stupid) bimbos. I mean just how many times can someone trip over nothing just to be slashed to bits by some masked axe/knife-wielding maniac? Is "Nightmare On Elm Street" an exception to this rule? In a word, YES!

Wes Craven's masterful creation known as Freddy Kruger is more than just a disgruntled maniac looking for sex starved teens. He is clever and dark and witty and horrifying and well, creepy as hell. There is actually a story line to this movie. Freddy was once an actual person...a monster in his own right, that was destroyed (burned to death, no less) by the good people on Elm Street. An eye for an eye? Well, Freddy's not finished yet...he re-emerges as a nightmare for Nancy, the daughter of one of the people who burned him years ago. Only Freddy's more than just a bad dream as Nancy (wonderfully played by Heather Langenkamp)and her friends (keep an eye out for a very young Johnny Depp) soon find out. He has gained power through their dreams and has very real consequences in the waking world.

Make no mistakes, this is a horror film, but the thinking person's horror film. You want to unravel the mystery of this creepy nightmarish figure that seemingly can do or become anything. Craven keeps it real, while managing to keep it fascinating...something few horror movies can claim. Freddy himself, is never really revealed or completely seen until the very end. This adds a great deal to the overall darkness of this movie. This film is gory but somehow that is not the focal point. It also explores the characters, especially Nancy, who emerges as the unlikely role-model/heroine.

"Nightmare On Elm Street" is a good flick, period. It is smart, clever, creative, witty, creepy, dark and down-right SCARY. Kudos to Wes Craven and his most-original masterpiece. Freddy is a force to be reckoned with!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good night, Sleep tight, Don't let Freddy Kreuger bite!
I must say that this is by far the most...Incredible thing I have ever seen!!! A lot of people didn't approve of it(when I was 6 I didn't approve of it but more on that later.) Because this movie had a low body count.(Find out wich one did on www.freddyvsjason.com) But even thought the BC was low, the Blood Count was phenomenal. Remember the scene where whatsherface was wrapped in that sheet with blood all around it? what about when that dude got pulled through the bed?(I hate to admit it but to make a long story short I didn't sleep in my bed till the next time I saw it!) But I wont spoil the movie for you 'First Timers'. But If you are a first timer, watch this movie by yourself in the middle of the night, door locked, lights off, (And maybe some rubber pants and a blanket! If you think it's that scary) Good night, Sleep tight, Don't let Freddy Kreuger bite!

5-0 out of 5 stars Freddy Krueger was the Boogeyman...
Wes Craven provided the final truly great film of his directorial career with A Nightmare On Elm St, initiating yet another successful horror franchise that deteriorated quickly but made Freddy Krueger a viable part of North American horror film iconography.
In this film, the teen residents of Elm St. are tormented by recurring nightmares of a razor fingered, fedora wearing maniac horribly scarred beyond recognition. When the teens begin to meet untimely and gruesome deaths, it would seem that their nightmares have become reality. Child molester and murderer Freddy Krueger has returned from the grave to wreak vengeance on the offspring of the vigilantes who burnt him alive many years previous.
The film benefits from a great cast of notable actors such as John Saxon (Black Christmas, Cannibal Apocalypse), Robert Englund (Eaten Alive, Tv's V mini-series) and a pre-stardom Johnny Depp (Donnie Brasco, Pirates of the Carribean). Heather Lagenkamp is also terrific as the main protagonist Nancy, who takes it upon herself to stop Krueger's murder spree. Lagenkamp would return in Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
The film offers a surreal tone that consistently blurs the line between dream and reality making for a unique and terrifying experience, the viewer never knows what to expect, quite a departure from the usual predictable slasher film.
In Krueger, Craven and Englund have fashioned a completely hideous and unforgettable villain. Far removed from the ridiculous caricature that Krueger would later evolve into in the many sequels that followed.
The film will also please gore fans as a plethora of gruesome effects are employed that far surpass those in either Halloween or Friday The 13th. The murders are very imaginatively orchestrated and original.
A Nightmare on Elm St. is a fast paced and very effective horror film that deserves to be seen. Too bad the myriad sequels failed to live up to the promise of this first outing. After this Craven would move on to more mainstream material like the mega-failure Deadly Friend and the hugely successful teen horror parody Scream.

5-0 out of 5 stars Revolutionary Modern Classic
Director Wes Craven was inspired by a series of newspaper articles to create "A Nightmare on Elm Street." Children were suffering terrible dreams and in desperation, told their parents they were frightened of dying. Then, one by one, the kids started inexplicably dropping away.

And what better foundation to create a horror film? Craven decided that his generation's horror films weren't up to snuff, and tended toward the "slasher" genre that was becoming very popular after the release of "Halloween." He upped the ante by attacking vulnerable young people the only place they felt safe: asleep.

This is an effective and unsettling idea, and is executed with masterly precision. Craven knows how to create suspense while building strong, endearing characters the audience will actually care for. The dream sequences are put together very well, and while the special effects seem dated as compared to today's high-budget Hollywood standards, it is perhaps their gritty, slimy quality that enhances the fright factor.

Overall, the acting is fairly decent. Johnny Depp isn't quite the Johnny Depp we know and love yet, so don't get moist in the panties when you see his name. Heather Langenkamp is convincing as the innocent, virginal girl caught in a web of parental lies and secret cover-ups. But it's Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger who steals the show. Later in the "Nightmare" series, Freddy became a comedic character, and all the scariness was lost. Sure, his face became more mangled, and his style of slaughter grew sophisticated and detailed, but the true allure of the Freddy character is portrayed only in this film.

"Nightmare" revolutionized the modern horror film, and brought science fiction and horror one step closer to each other. This allowed writers and directors to take more challenging projects and demand an imagination of their audience. Like all good things, though, Freddy was sucked in by Hollywood and New Line Cinemas and turned into an absolute joke. It wasn't until the final addition to the straight-up Freddy series, "Wes Craven's A New Nightmare" that the fright and creativity was redeemed, as once again Craven took it to the next level of horror and surreality.

Not only is Craven masterful in his directing, the film is an enjoyable hoot. It's a fun and scary journey into the black heart of a ruthless serial killer -- and cultural phenomenon -- you cannot escape. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Guilty Pleasure
UFORIA is one of those movies that begs the question, "Why didn't this film make it?" I hope they track down the principal cast and crew members so they can release a Special Edition DVD of this fine, forgotten film. It's full of colorful performances and vivid local flavor, all wrapped up in a tidy comedic plot. Fred Ward is wonderful as the scruffy redneck Waylon Jennings wannabe and Cindy Williams is actually kind of endearing as his love interest. I recommend UFORIA highly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Uforia
A fine little film, great music(country), wonderful cast, full of surprises, it really works. I have told many folks about this one, don't miss it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Close to "Repo Man" in sheer insane profundity
A notch below "Repo Man," but still a major hoot. It stars Harry Dean Stanton, which automatically puts it in my top 20. Cindy Williams is perfect as the True Believer, and the rest of the cast is uniformly excellent. It has the same quirky, nothing-is-quite-what-it-seems quality as "Repo Man." I saw it at the Little Theater in Rochester, NY, and liked it well enough to spend $70 on the VHS. I've watched it 15 times since and never regretted buying it. It's hard to find, so buy it now! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Dwight and friends make a real western
The more I see this flick, the more I love it. At first viewing this DVD, I thought it started off pretty dull and slow, but then things picked up when I realized the film's characters are supposed to be quirky and odd. I loved the unpretentiousness of the writing and acting. No stupid predictable Hollywood lines or situations in this film. GREAT!

Being Dwight's first Director job (and not knowing anything else about Mr. Yoakam) I think it's a minor masterpiece. I do wish he'd have cast someone else as his character and concentrated on directing only. All the actors were outstanding. Can't say enough about them. Truly a pleasure to watch them in action. I also dug those wild rags!

This movie gave me the western flick bug. I rented other westerns thereafter. Well-known and recent ones, including a God-awful remake of High Noon with Tom Skerritt and Michael Madsen. I love this little gem the most. I intend to buy it. Already own the soundtrack CD.

Can't wait until Dwight's next effort.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Dark Movie That Isn't For Everyone
South of Heaven, West of Hell really didn't get much theatrical exposure, which is surprising considering its stellar cast, including Dwight Yoakam, Billy Bob Thornton , Bridget & Peter Fonda, Vince Vaughn, Paul Reubens and Bud Cort. In addition, South of Heaven, West of Hell is in the strange position of having different cuts of the film being released on VHS and DVD. The VHS of South of Heaven, West of Hell is 30 minutes shorter than the theatrical and DVD version of the film. I have no idea why Trimark would decide to touch South of Heaven, West of Hell, one of the most intriguing and 'real' westerns I've seen in a long time.

Running at about two and a half hours, South of Heaven, West of Hell takes its time telling its story, but surprisingly doesn't really feel slow. Director/Star Dwight Yoakam does a great job of capturing the feeling of life in the West at the turn of the century. There's a scene at dusk where there's nothing really going on, a group of people sit around outside and listen to people play music. It's such a stark contrast to modern life where people close themselves in their homes and flick on the TV. It's little moments like this that create a real and credible world in which the story takes place.

Aside from being one of the more methodical and realistic westerns I've seen, South of Heaven, West of Hell is also by far the darkest, where there really aren't any heros, and the lines between honor and revenge are quite blurry. South of Heaven, West of Hell is a gem of a movie with stellar performances. While I felt Dwight Yoakam did a great job as the lead, I really enjoyed the supporting performances, especially Bud Cort (best know for being Harold in Harold and Maude), Paul Reubens, who is a thrill to watch playing a cowboy, and Billy Bob Thornton in a brief but pivitol role.

After watching South of Heaven, West of Hell I still had a number of questions about the film, but unfortunately the commentary doesn't clear everything up, which at first was a little frustrating, but after a bit of thinking was ok. It's hard to remember a recent film that I thought about as much afterward. South of Heaven, West of Hell isn't a movie for everyone but for those interested in a dark, real western I'd highly recommend it. [Geoffrey Kleinman, DVDTalk.com]

2-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully photographed, that's about it...
I love Dwight Yoakam's music and songwriting, he's surely one of the best singer/ songwriters out there but I think he should leave the screenwriting to professional screenwriters. This film looks beautiful, but the plot leaves a lot to be desired and the dialogue is often very dull. Dwight has some positives in this, as bad as it is. For instance, he looks great on a horse, but he looks uncomfortable in front of the camera here, which is unusual for him, given his other movies. The characters are interesting enough, but not given enough development that we can see. I don't think Dwight should give up directing entirely, but I would not recommend seeing this.

3-0 out of 5 stars South of Coherence, West of Logic
Dwight Yoakam, accomplished country/western singer, loves movies. He has appeared, as an actor, in over a dozen films. On this film, Yoakam functioned as writer, co-producer [with Buck Owens], director, star, and of course, he worked on the musical score as well. This would be quite a feat for the most accomplished of movie stars, which Mr. Yoakam is not. He can be very effective as an actor, when directed properly, as in "Sling Blade" and "Panic Room". He is a better actor than Johnny Cash was, or Merle Haggard; certainly as good as the icon known as Willie Nelson.

This film is so bad, it is almost good. It is so different, so off-center, so oblique, that it challenges the audience. The cinematography, by James Glennon, is lush; images bathed in dust and golden light, drenced in blood-red sunsets and shimmering mirage riders, ghost-like apparitions. I think it is admirable that Yoakam had enought influence, enough money, enough good friends, and enough ego to launch this dark confused tale. But, alas, it does not emerge as eclectic as Jim Jarmusch's mini-classic,"Dead Man". We all love a western, and Yoakam can be applauded for purposefully breaking down many of the cliches of the genre. Next time though, sir, please procure blanks for your handguns that do not sound like cap pistols.

The movie has been called self-indulgent, and it is; tedious, even egregious. Actually, what it is remains closer to a labor of love falling leagues short of coherence. It was poorly written. Without strongly defined characters, clear conflicts, and fully-realized conclusions, we struggle as viewers. At times, the film becomes too esoteric; like Dennis Hopper's "The Last Movie", one suspects the cast had fun doing it, but where's the fun in watching it ? No one wants a film to fail. We search for those tiny nanoseconds that elevate, entertain, and enlighten us.

The movie is populated by bizarre characters portrayed by a bevy of terrific actors. Yoakam, as U.S.Marshall, Val Casey, is at ease in front of the camera; but Val comes off as shallow posturing. Where is the anger, inner strength, and passion ?
Several times in the semblence of a plot it is mentioned that an official government letter exists, and in it is the information that Valentine Casey was deceased; that he had died in Cuba in the Spanish-American war. When confronted with this conundrum, Val just stares wistfully toward the horizon. So, as an undercurrent, we wonder if Val is really an avenging spirit, or if the whole movie represents a nightmarish dream ?

Joe Unger, as the outlaw Nogales, makes a strong impression, finding a real person within the absurdity of the script. Billy Bob Thornton, Peter Fonda, Matt Clark, and Bo Hopkins, sleepwalk through their brief scenes, lending their visage and names to the project. Bridget Fonda, as Adelyne, is credible, considering her character is written incoherently. The Henry Clan are the heavies. They are led by Luke Askew, astride a primitive wheel chair, spouted biblical platitudes, manning a machine gun mounted on his wagon, and finding time to bugger his daughter. Vince Vaughn cuts a wide swath as Taylor Henry, the most lethel of the bunch; killing without remorse, ice-blooded and stone-faced. Comic relief is provided with the bawdy flavor of Shakespeare; down, dirty, and bloody. Bud Cort is dipped in [foul stuff], stripped, humiliated, beaten, and shot. Paul Reubens, as Arvid Henry, seethes like a [unique] gunslinger, bouncing about like a Marx brother; murdering, [abusing], stealing,... Michael Jeter, as the uncle, gets to whine, beg, howl, cajole, and [be abused],... Terry McIlvain, as Val's sidekick, U.S.Christmas, is costumed in a colorful skirt, like a South American gaucho, and he makes the most out of his screen time.

...this one could become a cult classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Western Since Pale Rider
Easily the best western since Pale Rider. As a 26 year old non-country boy, the only other westerns I considered worthwhile were those of Sergio Leone and anything shoot-em-up with Clint Eastwood, pre-Unforgiven days... Dwight Yoakam serves up a fine dish of honky-tonk, gunfighting, and even raunch in a western that plays more like a documentary than fiction. Not in the boring ... documentary fashion, but in a way of life, be it low or otherwise. This movie is original, intelligent, and puts any later western to shame, including Young Guns, its sequel, Unforgiven, or Posse. Those who claim there is no plot are obviously not paying attention to a film they decided to critique. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!! Rory Cochran is AWESOME!!
I just loved this movie. I am a big Rory fan and just thought that he was sexy in this movie. Really hot!!! And Gina was just as good. And a very nice suprise in the end. If you don't want your typical I know who did it in the beginning, then this is your movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Black and White is your standard good cop bad cop tale
The old riddle about a newspaper goes, "What's black and white, and read all over?" Well, the best way to sum up this movie is to say: it's called Black and White and I read right through it. A cop is on a killing spree through the dark streets of Los Angeles, shooting junkies and other no-good-nicks in the left eye. Rookie cop and Chris O'Brien is partnered with the beautiful, veteran female cop, Hugs to solve the case. The evidence starts to pile up against Hugs, and O'Brien must choose to trust his partner or his employer interesting movie good thriller

3-0 out of 5 stars Black & White
Not one of Gina Gershon's best roles. The plot has plenty of twists and turns. You won't know "who dunnit" until the very end of the film. Some interesting nude scenes. If you're a Gina Gershon fan...buy BOUND. Much better.

2-0 out of 5 stars letdown
I have recently watched Thief and Internal Affairs for the third or fourth time and both of these movies are still more engrossing than B & W which I saw for the first time. There are several flaws in this film not least of all casting, directing and script! It starts off with high expectations and quickly fizzles.

5-0 out of 5 stars Black & White: Best Movie of the Year, Gershon is Brilliant
Black & White is the best movie I have seen to date. Gina Gershon is brilliant as an LAPD officer with a new partner and also under suspicion for murders taking place within her police division.

The writing is clever. Gershon delivers with brilliance and humor, pure talent; a real gift to movie fans.

Black & White is captivating and will leave you guessing until the final scene. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars B-MOVIE HEAVEN, HOLD THE BUTTER ON THE CORN
This movie was a great find for a few bucks. I guess scarecrows
are getting a bad rap these days. Pop some corn, shut the lights down and enjoy this for the time of the year (love scarecrows, especially since jeepers creepers2) they give the
harvest, Halloween season a whole new meaning. It has a few jolts but it
is different and filmed well. Yeah cheesy here and there but
all good b movies need to be, its dark and brainless, like the
scarecrow.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Very Good, Underrated Horror Film
...

The movie starts off that some drunk yokells riding farm equipment try to destroy a farmer's corn field,

The acting in this movie is... well bad. It's the main downfall of the film...

There were no wasted scenes and the movie always had you wondering what would happen next. There's a great chase scene in the house where... is chased by the scarecrow from the attic all the way to the farm that had me literally squeezing the life out of my pillow.

This movie has grisly murders, a mediocre cast, and an overall okay plot. I honestly would give this move 3 1/2 stars but I rounded up for the sake that I had fun with this crazy scary film.

Good Movie, Buy it or Rent it.

1-0 out of 5 stars a horrible movie
This movie is ok but most of the movie is stupid.the movie is about a bad spirt that escapes from under a cornfeild because some kids bust open his tomb. The spirt goes inside a scarecrow and comes alive. He kills to find his book of magic spells that will change him to his human form so no one can stop him. This movie is Z rated and the fact the way the scarecrow does most of his killing by turning them into scarecrows(Making sticks, hay,or weeds come out of them.)makes this movie a peice of garbage.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great example of a horrible film...
...and here at Ferncliff Hall we loved every minute of it. Some of the best death of straw incidents we've ever witnessed in a film. Many a cringe was had at the "my seed" parts, and the sewing shut of the mouth caused a good deal of mirth in our tiny dorm room. All and all, not a complete waste of time if not taken seriously.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Must See For Lower Budget Horror Movie Fans
I saw a few people giving this one star, that's not a good thing to give to a movie, that truely is in a class of its own. There's been movies about leprechauns, munchkins, gremlins, etc. But, for them to make this movie with the Scarecrow and do it in a relatively convincing way, then I give it a thumbs up. And although I don't want to reveal what parts, because I truely want you to order this video, there were 2 convincingly scary parts in this film. Now, buy the damn tape! :) ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Odd and depressing
I bought this movie strictly because of Gary Daniels. I find him to be an exceptionally good-looking and appealing guy, so just watching him is good entertainment for me.

This is definitely an odd movie for Gary. Gary is known for his martials arts skills, and therefore is typically in a movie where those skills are showcased. Here, he plays a character that doesn't even know how to fight. This is not a martial arts movie, but rather, a sci-fi movie. Even if you forget about the fact that it's not a typical Daniels movie, and gauge it just as a sci-fi movie, it's still a bit odd. The plot, and the movie's direction, are somewhat offbeat and jarring. (For example, I'm into sci-fi, but can't recall ever seeing in another movie something like the "dark shadow" in Spoiler. It's just weird. And the sudden disappearance of 20 years out of the main character's life is most jarring). It is also very depressing subject matter. This is definitely not a "feel-good" movie and has a very, very dark look and feel all the way through. Star Wars, it ain't. Watch this movie if you're into dark sci-fi. It was too dark for me.

More than any other movie of his to date, Gary gets an opportunity to act and stretch beyond his usual, constraining role of a revenge-seeking martial arts fighter. And he does well. Clearly, he took the part to prove he could do more, and he can.

Despite the relentless pummeling he gets, Gary looks remarkable in several scenes. (How can a guy this beautiful be unappealing to the eye?). There is one scene of him pumping iron shirtless, to showcase his outstanding physique. There's no love interest at all, which is a total waste of this man's looks, but then, given the subject matter, it makes sense to exclude it.

But mostly, you'll want to watch this movie only if you like very dark sci-fi.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spoiler shall have you spoiled!
Rodger Mason (Gary Daniels) is convicted for a crime he did not commit, and sentenced to one year in prison. Determined to return to his daughter's side, he escapes and is recaptured and frozen for 26 years and again each time he is brought out of the freezer and escapes.

It's clear to see that this movie was made on a budget,. but for those of us who like budget films, this one ia true gem. British action hero Gary Daniels is at his best, mixing comedy with some very good acting.

This movie shall have every Gary Daniels fan, well and truly spoiled!

1-0 out of 5 stars Spoiler definently spoiled!
This movie was such a waste. Here you have one of the best martial artists Gary Daniels in your movie but you have him play a regular guy and get beat up in every fight. You might as well have jet li be in a musical! This movie does have above average computer effects but even that didnt save it. Has a lame ending! If you want to see a good Gary Daniels movie see Bloodmoon , Cold Harvest, Fist of the Northstar. I think he took this role to improve on his acting ability, but we only watch his movies for action and martial arts. Hey Daniels get a better Agent! ... Read more
