4-0 out of 5 stars Jane Fonda At Her Best!
Jane Fonda was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in this movie. I do not recall now who else was nominated in 1986, but I cannot imagine that they did better than she does as a fragile alcoholic who wakes up in bed with a dead man and hasn't the foggiest idea how she got there. "I once was an actress," she tells Jeff Bridges who plays an ex-cop who tries to help her. Both Bridges and Raul Julia, Fonda's exhusband and straight hairdresser-- one of the six in captivity-- both give adequate performances; but this movie belongs to Ms. Fonda. (We can only hope that she gets back into acting soon.)

The film of suspense is directed by Sidney Lumet who gave us the great movies "The Pawnbroker" and "Dog Day Afternoon."

4-0 out of 5 stars A Story of Wounded Souls
Maybe the reason that some have negatively reviewed this movie is that it was seen as a thriller. And maybe, in fact, it does fail in that regard. [I'm no expert here; I was actually surprised when the killer was revealed.]

But I viewed this movie as a story of two wounded souls coming together in an unwitting fashion, loving and then wounding one another, and then somehow managing to come back together in the end.

Jane Fonda's performance is perhaps the finest in her career as an actress. She is funny, maddening, heartbreaking, tragic and sexy all at once.

And of course Jeff Bridges gives another subtle and truthful performance. He gives us a man who, were we to actually meet in real life, we might want to distance ourselves from. But there is much more there and Jeff makes you want to stick around to find out what that "more" is. He takes a sterotype and breathes life into him and makes us feel for him.

Please do not let the fact that you may be savy enough to guess "who done it" early on in this film. Stick around for the end. Stick around for the journey these two are on. It's worth the trip.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not first rate but well-lit
This was reportedly the first film Sidney Lumet made in LA after working in New York for years. Cinematographer Andrzej Bartkowiak traded his usual black and brown chiaroscuro lighting for sunlit oranges and pastels. This colouring also applies to Jane Fonda who adopts a bleached blonde look to play an alcoholic has-been actress, who was "being groomed to be the new Vera Miles", suspected of murder. It is a nice touch to have made the victim a photographer of female muscle bodies, considering Fonda's fitness empire. The thriller elements of this film are undermined by an awful overbearing score by Paul Chihara and a clumsily staged climax. It works better as a drama with intimate conversations, in opposition to Lumet's tendency to have his actors yell. (Just think of Network). Both Jeff Bridges and Raul Julia work well off Fonda, Bridges in particular, though his fleshiness here makes him look more like his brother Beau. Fonda is quite brilliant in her 2 drunk scenes and her sober world-weary line readings are funny. She seems almost anorexically thin but gets a remarkeable makeover mid-way. I like the cuts in the love scene showing what makes Fonda's character drink. This is the only time the music works. I also like the line given to a friend of Fonda's when she asks for some conservative clothes - "Honey, I'm a drag queen, not a transvestite".

2-0 out of 5 stars Stupid
The biggest problem with this so-called mystery is that there is no mystery. From the beginning you realize that there is only one possible murderer. Fonda is quite good, however. Her performance does not come across as methodical as in other movies. Still, I wouldn't buy this video. ... Read more

In yet another example of Demi Moore's astonishing narcissism, this appalling adaptation of Nathaniel Hawthorne's Great American Novel becomes a teary, talk-show-worthy story of a woman rediscovering the erotic, of interrupted love, of a brave-but-beleaguered heroine's personal struggle against male stupidity. Never mind that this has little to do with Hawthorne's magnificent, protofeminist book, which is a million times more relevant today than this film could ever be. Director Roland Joffé (The Killing Fields) deserves to be horsewhipped for colluding with Moore's self-fascination, while Gary Oldman should be kicked in the pants for allowing the novel's main character to come off as an inconsequential ninny. Making matters worse, Robert Duvall can be seen ridiculously dancing with a deerskin on his head. If this film were a joke, it would be a very bad joke. But it's not, and that's worse. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars An actress way out of her depth
As a public service to high school students who has been assigned to read The Scarlet Letter and decided to watch this movie to cheat, I have one word of advice: don't. (Unless you are certain that your teacher majored in secondary education instead of a real subject. In that case, go ahead. She or he won't know the difference.) This film has only the most tenuous connection with the Hawthorne novel. The novel was a study in contrasts between the hypocrisy of the Puritan clergy, people as superstitious, arrogant, and self-righteous as Hollywood types with causes, and the nobility and courage of a "fallen woman" willing to undergo public humiliation to protect someone she loves. This is, instead, a romance novel, a bad romance novel, on film. As far as I can tell, the new-and-improved plot exists mostly to give Demi Moore a excuse to get rolled in the hay. Her ability to fake (I assume) an orgasm is impressive, and she cries on command very well. Other than that her performance was embarrassing to watch. She really ought not to attempt period pieces. They often require acting. The only reason I didn't hit the eject button about a third of the way through was the fine supporting cast whose performances only heighten the contrast with Ms Moore. There are actors and actresses, and there are movie stars; Ms Moore is the latter. (Why is it that so many British actresses can do flawless American accents and most Hollywood stars do British accents so badly it is like listening to fingernails on a blackboard?) Unless your erotic recreation requires the juxtaposition of barns, petticoats, and fear of the authorities, skip this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!?!
I read all of the reviews for this film and even amazon trashed it! Here is my question. If you read the book, and you know that whenever they turn a book into a movie it's going to be an obvious abomination, what the hell are you expecting. Cast all preconceived notions aside and just enjoy the flick! The Scarlet Letter was a wonderfully acted and directed spectacle for the eyes. I am not really what you would consider a "Demi Moore fan" but I think she did a remarkable job here. The scene where Matumba is bathing is enriched with metaphorical images that strikes a chord in the imagination department, all the while as the movie's integral scene is taking place between Demi and Gary Oldham, is this not cinematic splendour? Yes I will admit, I never read the book, maybe that is why I enjoyed Scarlet. Overall, this is a descent movie. It takes you back in time and lets you relive the puritan hell days on earth, all over again. A great Thanksgiving movie, wouldn't you say?

We still love you Demi!

4-0 out of 5 stars Oldman does it again!
Not a big fan of Romance movies, but a sucker for anything Oldman stars in, I bought this DVD without ever having read the first thing about it. And once more? I cannot say I was dissappointed.

The story is about Hester Prynne (Demi Moore), a young wife who travels to the new world to prepare for her husband's arrival. She ends up in a conservative community, who are rather shocked with her modern ways of dealing with certain things.

When Hester's husband travels to the new world, he is believed to be murdered by the Indians. She falls in love with the Reverend Dimmsdale (Oldman), whose feelings match hers. Out of their love, a child is conceived. However, since her husband hasn't been proven dead, the child is seen by the community as being born out of wedlock.

The conservative and very religious communion demands Hester to name the father of the child, which she denies. She's locked up in prison and has her baby there, while Dimmsdale is torn over whether to step forward as the baby's father.

Hester then is freed but ordered to walk around town wearing a Scarlet Letter 'A', which is meant to belittle her whereever she goes.

Shortly after the child is born, her husband (Robert Duvall) suddenly reappears, and tries to incite the indians (whom he befriended) to act against the community. Single-handedly, he manages to offset the fragile peace that was between the two peoples.

Moore doesn't do too bad of a job as Hester, Duvall is good as the husband, but Oldman still manages to steal the show. All in all, even though I don't enjoy romances, the movie managed to keep me amused.

3-0 out of 5 stars Scarlet Letter
Although the movie veered off from where the book went, I found that, differently from the book, the movie focused more on the intimacy between Hester and Dimmsdale (which for the hopeless romantics out there like me-- is a perk!) I loved the actor who plays Dimmsdale and Demi Moore comes through with a strong performace as well.

3-0 out of 5 stars Letter "S" for sizzling!
Demi Moore is an early American colonist who loses her husband in a Native American attack. She seeks a new soulmate with the town doctor. She gets pregnant out of wedlock which is deemed sinful by the colony & is branded for her adultery by being forced to wear the scarlet letter "A" everywhere she goes.
And to make matters worse, her husband wasn't killed in the attack & he seeks revenge on the man who got his wife pregnant. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic!
This epic comedy adventure begins with Pee-Wee getting out of bed and playing with his toys like a normal...whatever he is. He fixes himself and his dog Speck breakfast with a fancy breakfast-making contraption and weighs himself. The scale reads 98 lbs. and gives him the ominous daily horoscope "Don't leave the house today."

Of course, our hero ignores this advice so he can go to the store and pick up the horn for his bike. He parks his bicycle, visits the Magic Shop, then to Chuck's Bike-O-Rama. But when he comes back, his treasured bike has been stolen!

To begin his search for his bike, he sees a fortune teller, who tells him it's in the basement of the Alamo. This starts him on his journey, which has him hitching rides with convicts and phantom truck drivers; working in a restaurant; riding bucking broncos; hanging out with bikers; and finally, ending up at Warner Bros. Studios. He knows that his bike is there, but getting it back won't be easy!

Tim Burton's over-dramatic directing gives the movie a feeling more like a cartoon than a live-action movie, and Reubens' acting is great. The plot is simple yet exciting, since there's always a good joke or something interesting happening. Danny Elfman's lively score for the movie is the perfect accent to the adventure.

This is my pick for one of the greatest movies of all time.

...and she said that if you don't get this feature-packed DVD, you'll be missing out on a real treat! We all know the film is funny and inspired: Mr. Reubens and Mr. Burton made magic on a budget. But this picture holds up like Miss Yvonne's hairdo and the generous additions take full advantage of the DVD format. The commentary by the star and the director is quite casual and down-to-earth. No pretense here. It's as much a treat to hear them covet certain props and reveal which they "kept" after the film as it is to learn how Tim Burton got the director's job. There is also an interesting, informative piece that features production sketches set to commentary from the set designer. Extremely cool. Danny Elfman also talks about his memorable score on an isolated track. The salvaged bits in the "Deleted Scenes" section are a bit rough visually but worthwhile nonetheless. Cool DVD interface, too. Your money will be well-spent on this. Paging Mr. Herman, Mr. Pee-wee Herman...

5-0 out of 5 stars A one-of-a-kind classic comedy
It is really such a shame about what happened to actor Paul Reubens and his alter-ego Pee-wee Herman. This is an absolutely delightful, one-of-a-kind classic comedy. The follow-up film, Big Top Pee Wee, while it has it's moments, can't possibly even begin to compare. As one film critic said of this film at the time it was released, just leave your sanity at the door and enjoy it!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Unwatchable
This film made me physically sick. Peewee has a grating personality and the jokes were... well... uninspired at best. Skip it and watch something funnier... like paint drying or the teletubbies.

I must admit, I only got through the first 25 minutes before I had to turn it off. Maybe the last hour transcended the first part, but I wouldn't put a wager on it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Paging Mr. Herman...
This movie is truly one of my all-time favorites. I love it because I've seen it tons of times and each time I laugh again. Every scene I could easily call my favorite scene. This movie is great for fans of the show. I would recommend this movie to anyone with a sense of humor. ... Read more

Marina (Demi Moore), a blonde Southern belle with a clairvoyant streak, sees signs--a shooting star with two tails, a snowglobe that washes up on the beach, a wedding band inside of a fish--telling her that her true love is about to come ashore. And soon enough, a boat lands on the beach in front of her home; only the guy inside is a stout butcher from New York City named Leo (George Dzundza). Still, portents are portents, and the next thing you know she's married and running barefoot around a butcher's shop in Greenwich Village, where she inspires various residents with her predictions. Leo, however, is creeped out by his wife's abilities, and encourages her to see Alex (Jeff Daniels), a psychiatrist who works across the street. To placate him, she does--and soon begins to suspect that she's misread her signs and married the wrong man. The Butcher's Wife could use a little more humor about Marina's powers (her pronouncements are dizzyingly earnest), but the movie is buoyed by a fantastic supporting cast, particularly Margaret Colin as a soap-opera actress, Frances McDormand as a lesbian dress-shop owner, and Mary Steenburgen as a dowdy church choir leader who just wants to sing the blues. Like Marina, you know what's going to happen, but the cast manages to make getting there charming. --Bret Fetzer ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars cute fantasy
This was a cute mix of reality and fantasy, with a moral of no matter what you use to rule your life, fate has a plan for you. Demi Moore plays Marina, a naive southern girl with a gift, who dreams her new husband (sort of) and ends up in New York married to the neighborhood Butcher (George Dzundza)! Jeff Daniels is the non-commital psychiatrist across the street and Mary Steenbergen is a mild-mannered church chior director who wants to sing in a Lounge. Between the four of them, they turn their lives upside-down and all around, affecting the lives of all those around them. It's a chick flick and very good!

4-0 out of 5 stars Feel Good Movie
A fairytale story where mismatched people find their way to their proper mates at the end. A feel good movie that leaves you smiling and there's nothing wrong with that. Excellent performances by everyone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad as three-day-old ground chuck...
Five minutes into The Butcher's Wife, my thought was, "The has got to be a vanity project." It feels like Demi Moore's version of Eddie Murphy's Vampire In Brooklyn, a movie were a megastar is attached, everyone lets them do their own thing, and no one wants to tell them, look, this isn't working. The cast does try hard, but the inept script gives them nothing to work with. The DVD quality is mediocre at best. From the opening seconds of the film, the screen is crawling with grain, not made any better by the low video bitrate. Audio is passable, and the only extra is a laughably bad trailer. Fans of Demi Moore -- if there are any left after The Scarlet Letter or G.I. Jane -- may want to add this to their collection, but the other 6,185,348,023 of you in the world will want to give it a pass.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this movie (except for Jeff Daniels)
If you like Mermaids or Joe vs. the Volcano, you'll like this, too. Charming, moving, and magical from start to finish. The only fault I find is that Daniels is not particularly charismatic as the leading man, but Demi (with fabulous hair), Mary Steenburgen, and the rest of the cast really shine. Check it out!

Former animator Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Batman, Mars Attacks!) made his feature directorial debut with this delightful comedy, coscripted by the late Phil Hartman (who also appears briefly as a reporter). Wisely, they keep the story simple so as to concentrate on the characters: Pee-wee's most prized possession, his shiny new bicycle, is stolen, and he sets off on an obsessive cross-country journey, determined to recover it. Pee-wee's awkward and childish attempts to be cool and mature ("I meant to do that!!") are hysterical, as when he tells his girlfriend (Elizabeth Daly): "There's things about me you don't know, Dottie. Things you wouldn't understand. Things you couldn't understand. Things you shouldn't understand.... I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel." Look for Saturday Night Live vet Jan Hooks in a hilarious bit as a tour guide at the Alamo. And beware of Large Marge! --Jim Emerson ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Video
Well it took me 3 years until i finally liked the lightspeed rescue rangers getting this video helped me actually like this series most people dispised. This video has the first 3 episodes of lightspeed rescue and they're pretty darn good i'll admit it i'm 12 and when i was 9 i hated lightspeed rescue because all i ever liked was mmpr and let me tell you something all the power rangers series are very good exept ninja strom which was by far the worst series ever in my opinion.Get this video you'll watch it over and over again lightspeed rangers rule!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars COOL
Ok, i have watched power rangers since the first series, and i think it was cool, it got even better when it went to zeo, turbo and in space, it kept the storyline, the proper thing, good vs evil, i thought the last eposide of power rangers in space should of been the last one in total, but when they bought out lost galaxy, i thought that Power Rangers woule be no good so i stoped watchin it, then when i saw Power Rangers Lightspeed rescue, it bought a whole new meaning to power rangers, a very good storyline and lots of brand new twists! i think that this series is a very good series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lightspeed...Rescue Ready!
I thought that this video would be pretty cool, since all the other Power Rangers related stuff is, but this is awesome! I would recommend this for any Power Rangers fan, but if you aren't, this might seem a tad complicated. The plot was good, explained everything. Now, onto what it was about.
Captain Mitchell of Lightspeed collects four young adults (not teens) to become the next generation of Power Rangers after demons escape from a tomb they've been in for hundreds of years. Along with his daughter they all become Lightspeed Rangers, the order being Carter Grayson - fireman - Red Ranger; Joel Rawlings - airplane stuntman - Green Ranger; Chad Lee - water acrobat/water animal trainer - Blue Ranger; Kelsey Winslow - extreme athlete - Yellow Ranger; and Dana Mitchell - paramedic/Lightspeed worker - Pink Ranger. They learn lessons about teamwork, using your head during your fight and trusting one another, all during this video. Whatever the future may hold, from demonic queens to evil Rangers, they will stay...Lightspeed Rangers!

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I truthfully thought that this was a pretty good season of Power Rangers. Although it was a bit different in some ways. Eg They're know in an underwater Aqua base and their costumes are a bit different aswell. But it was a really good video and I can't wait to see the next video of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. It was acceptionally good because of the villians. I liked the villians in Lightspeed Rescue. They are very creative. I loved the movie (probably because I am a big fan) and I strongly reccomend it to Power Ranger Fans who liked Power Rangers Lost Galaxy.

4-0 out of 5 stars LIGHT SPEED
THIS TAPE WASN'T BAD. ITS BY FAR THE BEST POWER RANGERS SINCE THE BEGINNING. THIS GROUP OF RANGERS ACTUALLY GROW ON YOU. WISH THEY WERE RETURNING FOR TIME FORCE... ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool comedy thriller
I really liked this movie. Justin Berfield is always great and Robert Carridine was a likeable Dad. My favorite was the humorous villain, Mr X played by the British star Martin Jarvis. I loved him in Titanic and Buster and here he was different again - keen to dominate the world, just like a James Bond bad guy. Great fun - all our family loved it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Justin Berfield
Justin Berfield Defenatly adds Major Pionts, cuz he is soooo Hott! This movie is only good cuz of him!

5-0 out of 5 stars it's okay
The best thing about this movie is that Justin Berfield is extremely good-looking and funny. Otherwise it was sorta corny. Check out "Mom, can I keep her"; Justin is in that one too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Justin is a diamond in the rough
This seemed like a typical young kid vs. bad guys movie. But having Justin Berfield as the star made it a 5 star film. He has such good comic timing. The scene in the middle was classic---where Justin was fixing macaroni & cheese and he was singing and dancing in his uncle's kitchen.

3-0 out of 5 stars Typical kiddie fodder
Were it not for Justin Berfield starring, I probably would have passed on this one. He is one of my favorite young actors though, so I gave it a view. The story was good and there was plenty of action; but the rest of the actors were only so-so. (Especially the girl who played the lifeguard; she seemed bored.) If you're a fan of Justin's work---check out the TV show "Unhappily Ever After". Justin is way funnier than his older brother on the show. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a film for theatre people!!!
In the same way that Waiting for Guffman is truly appreciated by theatre people by the simple fact that we've known and worked with people in our lives like the characters in the movie.

This film also exemplifies how the love that is spurned from creating art with people is strong enough to withstand life's trials. A truly inspiring film. This film is also very similar to "Peter's Friends" starring a cast of amazing British acotrs including Kenneth Branaugh (sp?) and Emma Thompson.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a movie for theatre people!!!
I understand that most people wouldn't understand or like this movie becuase you have to be a true theatre person to be able to relate to this dysfuntional family dynamic. The love that is spurned from creating art together is something that can cause a lot of the dysfuntion explored in this film, but that love is also strong enough to withstand the hardships. I think theatre people relate to this movie the same way they relate and understand Waiting for Guffman.

5-0 out of 5 stars but it is a great movie!
I rarely take the time to sit and write movie or book reviews, but having seen all these negative reviews for "Last Summer in the Hamptons" I feel compelled to speak my piece.

What is so powerful here is not the dysfunctionality of the family portrayed within, but what is at the core of this dysfunctionality: it is the inability of its members to walk away from its greatness, its fame within the highest circles of the artistic world. This movie is, in a way, a modern "Buddenbrooks", but it delves much more deeply into the reasons for the family's implosion. From the teenager who is pathologically rebellious because, as she explains to her cousins, it is the only way she can find to establish her independence from this great theatrical institution which is her family; to the brilliant director who, in order to create, has renounced, monk-like fashion, all sexual contact; to the most deeply studied pair of characters: the brother and sister pair who are so caught up in the web of their family, that their own sexual passions are trapped within the family, self-directed in an incestuous relationship.

This is the saga of a family which is admired, coveted, and idolized from outside, yet whose members are suffocating under the weight and tremendous magnet of its fame. It is a family which is the embodiment of Blake's sick rose.

This is a great movie, or a great play; it is a very powerful piece which will stay with you for a long time.

1-0 out of 5 stars This movie is just plain bad.
Thinking it was an updated Big Chill-type flick with a spectacular cast, I looked hi and low for this movie so my wife & I could enjoy it. All I can say is what a complete waste of time and money - and nothing like the Big Chill! If this movie was one of the year's 10 best (LA Times), a recipient of 4 stars (NY Post, LA Times), brilliant, enchanting & exquisite (60 Second Preview), & finally Two Thumbs Up, than I must have no idea what a good movie is. This was one of most ridiculous films we've ever seen.

I don't live in a big market city and I do realize that some think I lead a sheltered life, but give me a break! What kind of characters are in this flop? Well, there was a gay guy that somehow was able to seduce a guy who wasn't gay. If fact, this confused guy had just slept with the gay guy's sister and she revealed how jealous she was of him because he always winds up taking her boyfriends. HUH? Then come to find out the sister of the gay guy had sexual feelings for him and even acted on those feelings.

There was an actress that had to 'act' as a baby seal at one point and a perform as a leopard to 'deal' with issues in her life.

The only thing the reviewers and I could agree upon is this sentence: 'Perhaps the world's most dysfunctional family.' And how.

If Henry Jaglom is 'the definitive Hollywood filmmaker,' and this film was 'his best yet,' I think we'll heed that advice and never watch another of his films. I'd rather be locked in a room and be subjected to 'Dumb & Dumber' for 108 straight hours than watch this 108 minutes again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Blah!
I like to read movie reviews in the newspaper, in magazines, and on the internet to find out about movies that I otherwise might never find out about. Over the years, this has led to many wonderful films that I otherwise never would have known about. So, when this movie was releaed, I read several reviews from critics, and I noticed that this movie had gotten quite a few very positive reviews. So I went to the theater and I saw it. Boy was I ever disappointed! This movie is nothing more than a bunch of people siting around talking. Now, if the characters and their conversations are interesting, then that can make for a fine movie. For example, I loved the movie "Smoke" with Harvey Keitel. That movie had lots of interesting characters with plenty of interesting things to say. But "Last Summer in the Hamptons" lacks those good things. The characters in this movie are boring, their conversations are boring, and their lives are boring. And what makes it even worse is that the characters are not aware of the fact that they are boring. Instead, they all think that they are just oh so important. Simply put, this movie is the very definiton of the phrase "artsy fartsy." I think that there must be some kind of a clause in movie critics' employment contracts that requires them to give this movie a positive review and a high rating. Or, perhaps the critics are just trying to pretend that they can see something that the ordinary "common man" cannot see. Well, whatever the reason, the critics are wrong about this one. This movie is boring and dull and the characters are pretentious and boring and dull. And the movie is bad and I didn't like it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best PR Saga since Original Series
This show has got to be the best Power Rangers show in a long time. The Titanium Ranger storyline kicks off when the folks at Lightspeed try to infuse the Red Ranger with Titanium Power, but it is too much for Carter to bear so the Titanium Power is locked away. Diabolico finds out about this new power and sends a secret agent to retrieve the Titanium Morpher. When this agent finds and activates the power, the Rangers morph into action to stop him and get the power back. Yet things get complicated when the Rangers find out that the Titanium Ranger is really...uh, uh...you have to watch the video to find out. All around great fun with alot of suprises in store. I recommend to Power Ranger and non Power Ranger fans alike.

5-0 out of 5 stars From a mom's point of view
Of all the power rangers episodes I've seen, the writing of this video is one of the best. The mysterious appearance of an evil ranger turns out to be the long lost brother of the Pink Ranger, and their father runs the Power Ranger operation! Please ignore the fact that although the monsters recently escaped their prison, somehow they got a hold of Ryan (the Titanium Ranger) some 15 years ago. Think to deeply and you'll ruin the fun. These shows remind me of the hokiness of Ultraman(if you're under 30 - don't ask)with the morality of the Brady Bunch. These guys just kick more butt. Definately a keeper.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Titanium Ranger is who?!?!?!?!?
This is a pretty good movie, adding to the chalked up points of the Lightspeed series. The beginning of the movie shows Carter trying out the new Titanium Ranger morpher, but the circuitry is too extreme and powerful for a normal human*. Soon after, Dana and Captain Mitchell celebrate the 20th birthday of their brother and son respectively. That night, the Titanium morpher is stolen by a secret agent of Diabolico's, who seems to feel something for the two Mitchells. The next day, the Rangers are introduced to the evil Titanium Ranger, who kicks their multicoloured butts. Although soon, they beat the evil Ranger with the help of new weapons called V-Lancers. Before they can destroy the Titanium Ranger, Captain Mitchell calls them off, recognising the eyes that are inadvertently shown during the fight. When the Rangers get back to the Aquabase, they demand to know why he called them off. The next part will shock you, so buy the movie!

*How the Ranger could control the power of the morpher is unexplained, so this is only a hypothesis. My guess is that since this person grew up with demons around him, he was either taught magic to control it, or he hung around them long enough to become more like them and not be a 'normal' human.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous
This recent PR reincarnation is superb, in any way I can name it. It practically contains NO (I repeat NO) cheesy plot lines and plot holes, because of the original plotline--Ryan, the new Titanium Ranger (takes off his shirt many times--female viewers will appreciate the eye candy he provides) is cursed with a cobra tattoo which crawls closer to his neck every time he morphs. Once it gets close enough, it will destroy him.

The storyline is predictable, but that hardly matters. What matters is that Haim Saban finally broke the mold and came up with an at least semi-original plot, fine acting by all the cast, and a ending that which you have to see the last PRLR video to figure out the conclusion.

Not rated; contains some violence.

5-0 out of 5 stars Titanium Ranger
This video is great! It has better quality than on the TV and you don't have that annoying FOX KIDS icon in the corner. This contains four Lightspeed Rescue episodes: Ryan's Destiny - Ryan decides that his destiny is to become the titanium ranger, Curse Of The Cobra - Ryan finds he has the cobra curse from Diabolico and it starts to effect him, Strength Of The Sun - Ordered not to fight, Ryan disobeys to help his friends in all new megazord, the cobra is about to strike, The Cobra Strikes - Diabolico launches his final blow against the rangers, but is destroyed by the rangers, with the help of Ryan after he destroys the cobra for good. The city is safe and sound after that . . . or is it?! Watch this video to find out! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay video, doesn't look like it's in 3-D
As being a Power Ranger fan, this Lightspeed/Galaxy Ranger crossover is all right, cut to 45 minutes-without commercials.

It's about when Leo (Red Galaxy Ranger) finds out that Trakeena is journeying to Mariner Bay to drain kids' parents of their life force energy, so that she can mutate to green and destroy the Rangers. However, a little girl named Heather escapes and notifies the Rangers of the pending situation. The plot goes as it should, along with a customary happy ending.

This "movie" gets my approval because there's fairly even acting by all ten leads. The down part is that there's bad acting by the girl that plays Heather as a weak, defenseless little girl and excessive amounts of dubbed Sentai footage added. But what's screamingly obvious is that it doesn't look like it's in 3-D!

If you love this video or Power Rangers in general, then I encourage you. If you're in for an authentic Americanized version of this popular TV series, don't buy it. If you taped it, don't trade it in for this movie.

Bad cutting and the wrong feel deducts heavily for this video. Buy "The Curse of the Cobra," and the first PRLG video if you want good PRLR videos.

Not rated, does not contain offensive material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Trakeena's Back!
Hey, guess what. TRakeena's back in 2 exciting episodes of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. She comes back to earth to suck the life energy out of a selection of people so she can mutate and be green again. It also includes the Lost Galaxy Power Rangers. It is simply awesome! You'll enjoy it too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun
My boys (2 and 6 yrs) love this video. Of all the power ranger incarnations, I like Lightspeed the best. They teach a subtle morality that kids pick up on. Carter's (the red ranger) altruistic nature is so refreshing compared to most shows kids want to watch. This video is just plain fun, especially if kids are familar with both Lightspeed and Lost Galaxy Rangers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Power Rangers Triple Force
When this video was sold at McDonalds, I didn't know about it, but I ended up getting it on eBay. It has Trakeena's Revenge parts 1, and 2 on it. Instead of Amy Miller, Trakeena is played by Jennifer Burns. At about mid-year this year McDonalds is going to sell a Time Force/ Lightspeed Rescue crossover movie. The summary on the back of this video has one wrong peace of info, Trakeena does NOT team up with Olympious, she tries to get enough energy to destroy him, and Queen Banshira. There is some really cool seens when Trakeena becomes Trazilla! People say that Jinxer isn't in this movie, but when Olympious throws the poisened dagger, it shows him standing with Vypra and Loki, when the fact is, Olympious attacked the rangers only with Vypra and Loki, the reason is Saban used Sentai seens. Triskull never does really explode when he dies, he just seems to drop dead. I would have liked it if while the rangers get thier Omega Megazords, Trazilla goes after Olympious, but that didn't happen.

4-0 out of 5 stars Trakeena's Revenge
Trakeena returns to earth with Triskull and his ghouls to get revenge from the Power Rangers for destroying her green insect form. The Lightspeed Rescue rangers can't handle it all, so the Galaxy Rangers travel back to earth to help them. This video was released during the 2000 McDonalds Lightspeed Promotion, though very few got it since very few were produced. It was aired on TV as a two part miniseries, Trakeena's Revenge. This video is good, but has excessive amounts of Sentai footage. Also, Trakeena is portrayed by a different actress and Leo's voice is done by Russell Lawrence since Danny Slavin didn't agree to do voice-overs. But all in all, it's still a must have for any Power Rangers fan ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The baddest Power Rangers finale? Yeah right!
Of all the Power Rangers series "Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue" was the weakest. After a fantastic finale to Power Rangers In Space and Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, I expected the same from this. Not the case. In relation to the whole series, the finale isn't that bad, but it still left me very disappointed. Get it if your a fan of all Power Rangers, but if not, skip it.

4-0 out of 5 stars What a great finale!!
Yes! Like the tagline of video says "The Most Monsters! The Scariest Battles! The Biggest, "Baddest" Finale of Them All!".

In the final four episodes of Lightspeed Rescue, the Rangers must stop the demons and save Mariner Bay from destruction. As Ryan the Titanium Ranger, brother to Dana the Pink Lightspeed Power Ranger and son to Captain Mitchell of the Aqua Base, he must find a way to capture the demons and send them back to their demonic tomb where they were once held before. But he is captured in the process by Queen Bansheera as he attempts to contact the Rangers and his father at the Lightspeed Aqua Base. And then the Rangers test out a new megazord Miss Fairweather creates for them, the Lifeforce Megazord in an attempt to stop Olympius, the Queen's son, and Diabolico, whom Olympius has under his power from destroying the city. But Diabolico tries to help the Rangers but him and Olympius are both destroyed by the newest megazord. And in the two-part series finale "The Fate of Lightspeed Part and Part 2", the Queen's head scientist demon Jinxer throws a Batling card on the megazord's leg and the Aqua Base would be ambushed by a large army of Batlings as Carter runs off to Skull Cavern to save Ryan from the Queen Bansheera. After escaping from Skull Cavern, Carter and Ryan hurry back to the Aqua Base as it is being destroyed by the Batling controlled Lifeforce Megazord, they must stop Queen Bansheera from resurrecting all of the demons the Rangers had once destroyed before and capture them and send them back to the demons' tomb once and for all. It is a battle for survival as you join Carter, Chad, Joel, Kelsey, Dana and Ryan in this spectacular series finale of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, the eighth incarnation of the popular Fox Kid series. ... I first read the book Almost A Woman by Esmeralda Santiago over three years ago and loved it. So when I received a notice from a friend that Lehman College in the Bronx, NY was showing a viewing of the movie I traveled from Philadelphia to New York to see this film. I was not disappointed! Almost a Woman was a wonderful representation of the book. I recommend that all Latinas between the ages of 10 - 45 see this film. It's a wonderful story of coming of age, of transcultural life, of the struggles and ultimate triumph of one girl who in the mist of adolescents goes against tradition to demand access to a better way of life and education.

It is a battle for survival as you join Carter, Chad, Joel, Kelsey, Dana and Ryan in this spectacular series finale of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, the eighth incarnation of the popular Fox Kid series. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Too Bad to Be True
It's hard to imagine how anything this bad gets released. The plot, script and direction are below freshman level. When Sheedy isn't looking bored rolling around in bed she looks downright dowdy in a Kmart wardrobe. In fact she looks terrible and sounds worse.Martinez has the false intensity of a soap opera star. Each of the actors seems to be performing in a separate movie.Only the extras do a professional job.Must have been made in 2 weeks or less. An embarassment to good actors who seem embarassed to be in it.Deserves negative stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars PASSIONATE,SUSPENCEFUL,LOVINGLY ACTED BY A. MARTINEZ GREAT!
This was a picture I happened upon by accident late one night when I was restless. Needless to say that even though I did not see the beganing of the movie what I did see made me yurn to see it again a few more times. All of the actors did a wonderful job. The plot was there, the suspence was there, and the LOVE was there. Talia Shire did a surpurb job. Thank you for the love, we all need it. ...
