5-0 out of 5 stars Wish I lived in a house like this!
SMART HOUSE is a great Disney Channel Original Movie. It is about a thirteen-year-old kid, Ben Cooper (Ryan Merriman) who lives with his single father and younger sister. Ben is sort of a computer brain--he's not a genius, but he goes nuts over computerized stuff. He tries to keep the family well-organized and on track so his father won't start dating other women and make them apart of their family, he thinks they don't need a new mother since their mother died. Anyway, Ben is always entering contests...hoping that someday, he'll win one of the contests and it will help make his family better. Ben enters a contest which the winner receives a brand-new house that is totally computerized--nobody has to do anything, there is a computer that does it all for them. Ben surprisingly wins this contest, and he and his family moves into it. Sarah Barnes (Jessica Steen) is the woman who created this house invention. And when Ben's father starts dating her, Ben gets upset because he thinks that his father will marry Sarah and Ben doesn't want a new mom. Then, when the computerized home, which has a voice called P.A.T. (Katey Sagal), gets out of control, P.A.T. turns into the form of a woman who claims to be the Ben and his sister's mother and tries to take over the house and the family! Ben, his father, his sister, and Sarah Barnes must stop P.A.T. from ruining the house and the Coopers.

This was a very fun movie, and LeVar Burton from "Star Track" fame directs it. Though kind of unrealistic, but who really cares? The acting is great, especially from Ryan Merriman and Katey Sagal. There are lots of great special effects in this movie, and the dialouge is really good. I liked SMART HOUSE a lot and all Disney Channel Original Movies fan should own this one!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Made for TV Movie
Yes, the movie concept is highly unlikely. However, we are talking about Disney, and they are willing to stretch a persons imagination. This movie does just that.

Katie Sagal gives an excellent performance as Smart House...well, the disembodied voice of Smart house. Well, Disembodied until towards the end...Watch the movie to see what I mean.

Also, Ryan Merriman (Ben Cooper), gives an superb performance was a very self-disciplined, angry young man. His mother is dead, and he and his sister and father have done well since her passing. Ryan is the one that keeps the family washed, feed and ready for each day. This young Actor [merriman], is such a sight to watch. For a young man of 17, he is a fantastic site to see on the screen. His acting is top rate. He could be pulling in bigger roles. I hope to see more of him in the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Good made for t.v. movie!
I love Disney Channel Original Movies! They are a gret source of entertainment! This is the story of Ben Cooper Whos mom is dead. So he does all the house hold chores. He wins a "Smart House" that does it all for him so that he can do fun stuff with friends! But when he tries to give the house motherly characteristics, his plan backfires and the house creates a digital image of a woman known as PAT. PAT puts the family under house arrest and it's up to Sarah, the houses creater and Ben's dad's love intrest, to save them! This movie teaches kids to be open to new ideas! I recomend that you rent it today!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Good Movie For The Family!!!!!
I don't really like made for t.v. movies too much. But Disney makes some pretty good ones. This is the story of Ben Cooper. His mom passed away when he was young and his dad works a lot so he gets stuck with some pretty big tasks that 14 year old boys shouldn't have to deal with. Such as cooking dinner, cleaning the house,etc... So when there is a contest to win the worlds first ever "Smart House", a house that does everything for you such as cook, clean, etc..., Ben tries with all his might to win. And he does! But it turns out to be a lot more than he's prepaired for. When Ben tries to give the house human emotions and characteristics of a mother, his plans go hay-wire, causing the house to create a digital image of a woman. When the dad falls in love, the house gets jealous and puts the family under house arrest. Literally! It's a pretty funny movie. I like when the house does Ben's homework and beats up the class bully! Rent it today at your local video store because this price is really high!

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the better made for cable flicks
Even though the plot was a little flimsy, I liked this movie. Ben Cooper enters a contest on the internet to win a house, but before you know it, things start to get wacky. I remember Ryan Merriman (Ben) from Deep End of the Ocean---he has a lot more screen time in this film. ... Read more

Mother Goose is missing from Rhymeland and it's up to Little Bo Peep and Mother Goose's son, Gordon, to find her. What is Rhymeland? It's the land of nursery rhymes created by Mother Goose. Problem is, if Mother Goose isn't around to keep the nursery rhymes alive, Rhymeland and its inhabitants will simply disappear. In this colorful, somewhat demented place, rock stars masquerade as Mother Goose characters and provide a whole new, if somewhat strange, perspective on classic rhymes. Little Bo Beep (Shelley Duvall) is first on the scene, seeking out Mother Goose (Jean Stapleton) to help her find her missing sheep. She and Gordon (Dan Gilroy) initiate a search that takes them on a tour of famous Mother Goose characters. Among others, Ben Vereen plays an amusing and incredibly flexible Itsy Bitsy Spider, Howie Mandel a punning Humpty Dumpty, Bobby Brown a fancy-footed member of the dancing Three Blind Mice, and ZZ Top the silent but ever helpful Three Men in a Tub. The search for Mother Goose follows a crooked road full of dead ends and full circles, eventually leading to the frightening "real world." Don't you wonder who the culprit will turn out to be? In spite of the title, there are only a few real rock performances in this 95-minute video--it's primarily outrageous character skits performed by famous rock stars with some fairly unremarkable rock music in the background. Because of the somewhat twisted, tongue-in-cheek take on classic Mother Goose tales, this video is best suited for adults and children 9 and older. --Tami Horiuchi ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars for goodness sake people! kids ARE NOT absolute idiots!
dear reader, i am 13 years old and when i was a little girl i absolutly LOVED watching 'rock and roll rhyme land' ( i know that's not the name but thats what i used to call it) i'd watch it over and over again! and i totally under stood it, now i wasn't some 'geneous' kid or anything( im not even sure if i spelled geneous right) but i don't think that you grown ups should have the right to say ' oh , look, theres little richard, my kids don't know who he is so they won't understand the movie or oouh there is that women from all in the familly, my kids don't even know who archie bunker is so they won't get this. if you're kids don't know who little richrd is, then you need to have a little more communication time with your child instead of your job! the reason that kids act like we don't know what we're doing is because you treat us like that! lucky for me i was'nt brought up like that but i know people who were, some of my friends. gotta go bye.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST SEE FOR NURSERY RHYME LOVERS!!!
THIS VIDEO IS EXCELLENT AND VERY ENTERTAINING!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL KIDS AND FAMILIES WHO LOVE NURSERY RHYMES. I ENJOYED WATCHING IT ALONG WITH MY SON FOR THE FIRST TIME AS WELL AS OTHER TIMES!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great blend of rock n' roll and mother goose rhymes......
The first time I ever saw this movie was on the Disney channel when I was about 11 or 12 years old and ever since then I have been in love with it and all the endearing even sometimes annoying rhymeland characters. The story is basically simple Mother Goose played so delightfully by Jean Stapleton has suddenly disappeared from rhymeland and it is up to her uptight son played to perfection by Dan Gilroy and Little Bo Peep played Shelly Duvall who was made for the part to find her and bring her back before everyone in rhymeland disappears and mother gooses's rhymes become nothing but a mere illusion. It shows all the hilarious struggles and complications Bo Peep and Gordon have to go through to find her and all the crazy characters they meet on the way. The sets are bright, colorful, and very creative as are the costumes and makeup and while the special effects are not very realisitic and corny the great script and amazing humor make up for it. This movie just about has any star in the movie and music business you can think of including Woody Harrelson as the lamb from Mary had a little lamb, Little Richard as the party loving Old King Cole, Ben Vereen as Itsy Bitsy Spider, and the musical trio ZZ Top as The Three Men in the Tub which was pure genius putting them in that role. This movie is amazing and although it may seem corny and even childish at times it still proves to be funny, endearing and magical and I promise if you watch it, it will make you feel like a kid again. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Below average Bundy (dont listen to the idiot above!)
This particular Bundy episode is not funny. It lacks the depth and array of derrogatory jokes that we are use to in the more classic Bundy episodes. I love Al, guest star Sam Kinison, and the whole cast. But even Kinison cannot save this particular Married with Children from the fire in hell in which it has been summoned to.

4-0 out of 5 stars Everytime A Shoeman Cries, An Angel Gets....
This homage - of -sorts to the Jimmy Stewart classic is already a classic of its' type. With a shock to his system, Al awakens to find an angel - his angel, who has been called to help Al decide if his " loved ones " would be better off without him, if he had never been born. With anger, angst and humor, The Angel ( Sam Kinison ) arrives, not without his own issues and proceeds to give Al a look of how life might have been. Peggy somehow became a Leave It To Beaver style mom, complete with apron and french Twist...Bud, a sweater and tie wearing geek who has become almost courtly and Kelly - a plaid skirt and ponytailed Virgin Barbie. Did Peggy Sue get married ? You bet your Bundy she did, but to a handsome man who lifts them all from drudgery and middleclass living to life in a mansion. The lucky husband later was signed to the show as jefferson D'Arcy - also known as Mr Marcy. Here, he is somewhat of a snob, but loving the family. Obviously, Al comes to a few self - realizations and makes the decision of a lifetime. OK, it ain't Shakespeare, but it is a welcome respite from the usual holiday fare.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bundyfully Outrageous
I grew up watching Married with Children and was very disappointed when the show ended. I was grateful to watch reruns on late night television until recently time slots changed and I am no longer able to watch. Thus I begun my search to find the series to purchase as many other shows such as Friends and Little House on the Prairie have come out with, but found bitter disappointment in the realization that there are no season's available for purchase. Then in my search I stumbled across this classic episode and purchased it on the spot. It is outrageously funny, the only thing I still could want is the entire series!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Waiting...........
Look, I believe this to be in the top 3 of the greatest sitcoms of all time. And Al, is probably in the top 3 of the greatest TV dads of all time. However I am very disappointed that they haven't moved the show to DVD yet. I need MWC season 1 now! Who's with me?

5-0 out of 5 stars ... and all of a sudden, Santa appeared
I find it next to impossible to write an impartial review of this episode, or most any other MWC episode, for that matter. Married With Children has been my favorite show for as long as I can remember - with razor-sharp humor that never dulls.
This episode is definitely one of the most memorable ever. Guest starring Sam Kinison, it features biting, non-PC humor that leaves one in stitches. From Al's unique recitation of "Twas the Night Before Christmas", to his guardian angel's recollections of his ex-wife, this episode features some of the best Bundy humor.
My only hope is that the rest of the episodes will eventually make it onto DVD - there isn't a single pre-season 8 episode of Married With Children that I wouldn't gladly buy. Excellent show, great episode to have. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So Powerful, So Wonderful
I was warned before watching this movie that it would not be one of those 'sit in front of the television with a bowl of popcorn' movies. For half of the movie, I just sat there, my eyes glued to the screen, watching Diane Keaton in a simply wonderful and dramatic role.

Anna Dunlap (Keaton) is a newly divorced woman with an adorable six year old daughter. They have a wonderful relationship, and it is very evident when you sit down and watch them together. Enter Liam Neeson. He starts out as a person with whom you would not want to get to know, but after a few minutes, he reveals that he's just in a bad mood and he is actually quite nice. When he first meets Molly (the very adorable Asia Vieira), she is very shy towards him, but she learns to like him and you can see that there is a bond between them. When something happens (I don't want to say what), and Molly's father wants full-time custody of her, the movie becomes a full-blown drama. It is, I admit, hard to watch some of the courtroom scenes, but they are so powerful and they draw you into the story. In a way, I saw the end result coming, but not exactly like it did. It definitely showed finality in the family.

Keaton's performace, like I said above, was incredibly powerful and she does a wonderful job portraying Molly's mother. The main reason I bought this movie was because of Diane Keaton, since she is my favorite actress and this movie shows her in her best dramatic role, in my opinion. If only it had received higher reviews when it came out. But I go by what looks good to me, and to me, this looked good, mainly because of the cast and the story.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply a must-see
Being a tremendous fan of Diane Keaton's work, I rented this movie (I'm still... that this movie isn't sold anywhere), and it immediately rated as one of my top-ten favorite Keaton videos. It honestly is an enigma that this movie didn't get enough praise it deserves. Most of the scenes are incredibly sweet, warm, and intimate. That's what makes this movie so great. When Keaton's character, Anna, meets Liam Neeson's character, Leo, there's a unmistakable bond forming. I especially love the scene when Anna goes to Leo's apartment and Leo and Anna becomes one, dancing in front of Leo's sculpture, making shadows on the wall from the light shining on them from behind. This is an esoteric concept of first love. I really thought it was so sweet when Anna confessed to Leo that she thought she wasn't very good at sex, and he gently assures her that they can fix that. There's no judgment in that scene;it's obvious that Leo really loves Anna, and their love is vivid. Another favorite scene is when Anna and her daughter, Molly, are in the bathtub with Leo reading to them. This is truly intimate, and I just love the fact that they were so open-minded about being naked in front of Molly. There's just so much tenderness and love. It was, to me, beautiful. And yet another favorite scene is when Molly has a bad dream and goes into Anna's room while she and Leo are making love, and they comfort her until she falls asleep. There's another display of intimacy, about caring and love. The three of them together was absolutely wonderful. That is why I found it incredibly appalling that Anna's ex-husband, Brian, goes to court for something that happened between Molly and Leo that had absoluely no intention of happening. (I won't ruin the ending for you). But I found the ending truly sad and final. A soon-to-be family are wrenched apart by an innocent mistake. I felt bad, because I knew they could have had a wonderful life together. I also felt bad for Anna and Leo. I could really see their love shown for each other. They were so comfortable together; their feelings for each other were vivid and beautiful. This is a movie of non-judgment and unconditional love, and that's what makes it so special. I honestly don't understand why this movie was considered a failure. Keaton is at her best in this movie, and Neeson is simply wonderful. I consider myself as an efficient movie critic, and I know which movies are bad or good. This movie is a MUST-SEE!!! I acclaim Keaton especially for her wonderful work in this movie. 'The Good Mother' is proof that Keaton is one of the world's most rare and special actresses. If you're not suffering from brain deterioration, immediately rent this movie! You won't regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars tenderness
I saw this movie 2 years ago on TV and I was deeply moved by it. I'm looking everywhere to find this movie on video but I haven't found it yet. I also read the book, before I saw the film and I think it's the first time that I like more the film than the book of a same story. I must confess that since this film I became a fan of Liam Neeson. It's a film that sensitive people must see. The scene before the mirror has remained with me all along.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Good Mother - A GREAT FILM ! Don't miss this one!
Am I glad I bought this video while it was available! I rented it on the strength of the unparalleled Diane Keaton's participation, and found it one of the most moving films I've experienced. It's surprising this movie hasn't received meaningful press, at time of issue or since. Keaton is at her usual gorgeous, inspired best as Anna, a suppressed free-spirit. A divorced anywoman, she is the unquestionably devoted, responsible mother to 6-year old Molly, played to completely natural, adorable perfection by young Asia Vieira. Molly is equally crazy about her mom - their bond is deep and true. Welcome Liam Neeson (I fell in love instantly) as Leo, a charming Irish sculptor, as the first real and passionate love relationship in Anna's life; the two become serious quickly, and life is wonderful. Anna's ex-husband Brian, having moved on in his own life with another woman, reacts the only way he knows how to a controversial "mistake" Leo makes while caring for Molly one day while Anna is at work. Brian sues for custody, and the situation evolves dramatically from there (don't want to give it away).

This is a heart-wrenching, unforgettable story which unleashes a wide range of powerful emotions thanks to totally believable performances by the entire cast under Leonard Nimoy's superb direction: Ralph Bellamy as Anna's grandfather, Teresa Wright as her grandmother, Katey Sagal as friend Ursula, and Jason Robards as her attorney. Leo's mistake and the ensuing results evoke thought-provoking debate. Highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars interesting and moving
this movie was very interesting. the end is kinda sad and you don't expect it, but still is very good. i'd recommend this movie to everyone! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Funny, good for the whole family
One of Harland Williams best films (hard to find a bad film of his). The only bad part of the film is that it isn't out on dvd.
The basic plot is a con man is released from prison and runs into a couple thugs he owes money to. A series of events leads him to hide out as the new Headmistress of an all girls prep school, while he trys to con the schools main benefactor out of half a million dollars.
Shawna Waldron is excellent as Beryl, a neglected teenage girl who thinks her father has forgotten her. The interaction between her and Harland is very well done.
The jokes in the movie are clean and humorous. Definitely a movie worth owning.
