A decent movie
This movie is drasticly overpriced, but if you can find it in a video rental place, rent it. To be honest, I was surprised. I am a big De Young fan, and rented this because of it. I think this to be his second best role. Robert Beltran did well also. ... Read more

Tagarot
This is one of the best movies I've seen on Peru. It is an excellent portrait of Peruvian society of the 1980s. It combines lyrical and epical tension in a way few movies are able to do. The characters are perfectly developed and acted by first rate actors. This is a perfect film to learn about Peru and at the same time to enjoy a beautiful movie.

A.k.a. La Gringa
This film is loosely based on the life of a peruvian criminal and his experiences at an island prison called "El Fronton" -a sort of Peruvian "Alcatraz"-. It also portraits the infamous 1986 Terroist Riot (although the real "Gringa" was not there at the time). Being a low budget film don't expect fancy or sophisticated explosions and special effects.
