4-0 out of 5 stars A Must For King Fans; For The Others, Read On...
At the outset I'd like to say that King's fans are gonna love this one. It's a bit slow, long, but it's spooky, scary, terrifying, nightmarish, and it delivers an unforgettable message at the end. Vintage King.

Now, for the rest...

A weird guy shows up in an island in Maine (King's favorite State), and kills an old lady for no real reason. But he doesn't go away - he waits to get arrested. In this case, however, the real prisoners are the residents, some of whom are murdered in vicious ways by the stranger, with the help of his ominous-looking cane.

Colm Feore is terrific in the role of the evil man, while Tim Daly does a decent job as the town grocer and Constable. The really cool thing about this film is that you never notice the length (close to 4 hours!), as scene after scene captures your imagination and tortures your soul.

Small town mentalities and moralities are exposed for what they are - cheap, narrow, selfish, and deadly. Each character has (or has had) a past (or present) that they'd never like the world to ever know. But the stranger (the Legion) knows EVERYTHING about everyone.

As secrets come out, and as hidden conflicts are brought out into the open, one can see the characters change faces. When the main objective of the stranger is revealed by him during a town meeting during the course of the storm, it's time for soul-searching and morals-testing. None emerges unscathed, except Tim Daly and his wife, though in completely opposite ways.

The ending is definitely not satisfactory, and seems forced to deliver some sort of closure to the viewer.

In summary- Positive things:

1. Good, strong character development.

2. Powerful storyline.

3. Intelligent, relevant screenplay.

4. Good photography.

5. Excellent acting by most.

6. Wonderful music score.

Negative things:

1. Length (some people will definitely groan!)

2. Unsatisfactory ending.

3. Colm Feore is not used very well.

4. Slow beginning, with a few scenes of really bad dialogue delivery and acting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally A King Film You Can Watch ...
...without wanting to smash your tv-set.

This movie had to be good, because Stephen King himself wrote the screenplay - which was an original screenplay and no adaptation from one of his story. King wrote this sinister little tale especially for ABC television and I have to admit, that beside the fact that it is a good story for a cold night, snow piling up outside, it is a very good mvie as well. I loved the actors, the filming and just every minute of the 4-hour mini-series. I even watched the whole thing just listening to Stephen King's commentary (although I skipped the parts director Craig Baxley commented) - the commentary was as good as the movie itself, because it was not some poor strawhat talking about something, but Stephen King doing what he can do best: not commenting, but telling. Stephen King gives very delightful inside-information on the making of the movie and talks about works related to this movie, how he came across the idea for the story (it was partly influenced by a play by Friedrich Dürenmatt King had a part in when being in High School), how he tried to work it out, stuff like that. So this is a very interesting bonus for every Stephen King fan: you get a very good movie and a very fine commentary by Stephen King, with all the information and all the amusing details 'n' extras.

Story's Rough Cut: Small town off the coast of Maine, Little Tall Island, the setting of "Dolores Claiborne" - "life on the island is different from the life on the mainland." Stranger makes the small township aware of his evil presence by murdering an old woman, Martha Clarendon, and therefore arrested - "because I choose," as the stranger, André Linoge, claims. Linoge knows all the dirty little secrets of the clean-shirted islanders and he wants what he inevites, unless he will not go away. What exactly Linoge wants, you have to find out for yourselves, sorry. It is worth finding out, believe me, just this one time! ;-)

Let me finish with a praise for the movie by some newspaper I do not remember, "it is a high-voltage, spine-tingling shocker, which has been called one of the best King films ever!" It sure is.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time
I really like Stephen King, but this has got to be one of his worst works ever. EVER. The plot is intruiging, but the movie is sooooo long. It's like, what, five hours? The movie pulls you in with an interesting begining, and keeps you watching with a so-so middle, but there is really no point. There is so much unneccesary information and there are so many pointless scenes. Yeah, like, seven people or so die, but there isn't really anything all too exciting about it. After a while, this movie becomes quite annoying, and you just want to see what the guy wants, and what he wants is rather idiotic, and is very anti-climactic. So, in my opinion, don't waste your time watching this.

Was that annoying? Now you know how I felt going through this film.

He wants a kid. That's what he wants. He wants a kid. There, I just saved you three hours of agonizing torture.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good movie, loses it at the end
I watched Storm of the Century yesterday, with low expectations. However, it did exceed them. At 4 1/2 hours long, you need to have a lot of patience with it. The movie maintained a good element of mystery, but about two hours in the movie you'll want it to speed up. It has its quick gasps and scares, and the usual King twistedness. The movie also made some good Roanoke references. The most dissapointing part of the movie was the end. The solution to the problem was the one you expected so, it lost the element of mystery towards the end. The movie is not really scary as you watching it, but in the dark, some scenes of it come back to you. I would see it if you have a decent amount of time on your hands and nothing else to do. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I would like to point out Russell Crowe WAS born in NZ
I have seen LA Confidential and thought it was an absolutely brilliant movie. I am only 13 and really shouldn't have seen it but saw it anyway. I would like to strongly point out that Russell Crowe was actually born in NEW ZEALAND not Australia as they like to claim he is an Australian! I am pleased to finally let people from all over the world know that.

Thankyou and enjoy Russell Crowes new movie Gladiator and I reccommmend watching LA Confidential

5-0 out of 5 stars A titanic picture
One of the best movies I have ever seen, and boy I have seen a lot. A masterful performance by the newcomer Crow. A must see.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE MOST ACCURATE DEPICTION OF L.A.
This movie had it all. The screenplay was to perfection, the acting was superb, and the actors were just right for their parts. All in all, this movie (by my opinion) should have won more than it did. The screenplay and best supporting actress was not enough for this movies excellence. END ... Read more

Amazon.com essential video

In a time when it seems that every other movie makes some claim to being a film noir, L.A. Confidential is the real thing--a gritty, sordid tale of sex, scandal, betrayal, and corruption of all sorts (police, political, press--and, of course, very personal) in 1940s Hollywood. The Oscar-winning screenplay is actually based on several titles in James Ellroy's series of chronological thriller novels (including the title volume, The Big Nowhere, and White Jazz)--a compelling blend of L.A. history and pulp fiction that has earned it comparisons to the greatest of all Technicolor noir films, Chinatown. Kim Basinger richly deserved her Supporting Actress Oscar for her portrayal of a conflicted femme fatale; unfortunately, her male costars are so uniformly fine that they may have canceled each other out with the Academy voters: Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kevin Spacey, and James Cromwell play LAPD officers of varying stripes. Pearce's character is a particularly intriguing study in Hollywood amorality and ambition, a strait-laced "hero" (and son of a departmental legend) whose career goals outweigh all other moral, ethical, and legal considerations. If he's a good guy, it's only because he sees it as the quickest route to a promotion. --Jim Emerson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another 5 star Classic
It has long been debated - "Can a film noir be made in color?" Many have tried and failed. This film does not. It has all of the classic elements that one looks for in a good ole gangster flick, as well as in a noir flick. This film is shocking in its talent and its craftsmanship. No complaints from me, from the score to the cinematography, from the direction to the casting, everything hits its mark, and brings you along for the ride.

One of the best DVDs yet released; this slick Warner Bros. disc has it all. There are three behind-the-scenes documentaries, including "The L.A. of L.A. Confidential" (an interactive map tour) and "Off the Record," which offers cast and crew interviews. In addition, the disc has a mood-setting, music-only soundtrack; three TV spots; production notes; theatrical trailers; a 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen picture; and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio tracks in English and French. They really packed it in there.

This is the best film of the nineties. Titanic was just an overblown soap compared to this complex mystery/crime drama. The plot twists are jaw-dropping and require the film to be seen several times. The acting and direction are superb! Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Movie, and Well Worth Owning on DVD
"LA Confidential" takes detective film noir in a different direction-something I didn't think could be done. Director Curtis Hanson stated that he wanted the focus of this period piece to be on the characters and dialogue rather than the locations, clothing, cars, etc. I think he got it right for the most part, but the cinematography is so spectacular that you can't help but notice the backdrops against which the scenes are set.

The acting performances in this picture are for the most part first rate: Guy Pearce plays the ambitious Edmund Exley to perfection, Russell Crowe is superb as tough guy detective Bud White, and Kevin Spacey (one of my favorite actors of all time) turns in a stellar performance as the hip narco detective who also acts as a consultant on a Dragnet-like TV series. Strong performances by James Cromwell, Ron Rifkin, and the ubiquitous David Strathairn round out the picture. Although I liked Kim Basinger, I thought she was cast more for her look than for her acting skills. She played the role of a Veronica-lake lookalike prostitute quite well, but hers didn't look like a performance any other competent actress couldn't have pulled off.

The DVD version of this picture is more full of features than any other title I've owned thus far. It includes a documentary about the making of the film which includes cast interviews and clips of Crowe's and Pearce's screen tests. There's also a location map that tells the viewer about each of the major locations where scenes were shot, cast bios, a promo for the soundtrack (featuring some very good early 50's jazz courtesy of Chet Baker and other artists of the era), and the movie can be played with just the soundtrack running. Be warned-the features that come in the DVD version take more time to watch as the movie. But it's well worth the time! "LA Confidential" sets a high standard in terms of what studios should include in DVD's of their pictures. Are you paying attention, Hollywood?

5-0 out of 5 stars Magnificent
This is magnificent. A top notch cast throughout, Guy Pearce is a revelation, Russell Crowe (not my favourite) is just brilliant, James Cromwell is great. I could go on, so see this for yourself. The attention to detail is second to none, it's atmospheric, pacy, clever and, well, just brilliant.

Buy this today. You will not regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars 'Off The Record, On The QT And Very Hush Hush'.
If not for a film about a ship hitting an iceberg and going down L.A. Confidential would have been a sure-fire Academy Award Best Picture winner. The best parts of the movie are Kim Basinger in an Oscar winning performance for her role as a Veronica Lake lookalike hooker and Russell Crowe as a fearsome cop who finds a surprising capacity for love.

The genius of the film is the three inter-related stories (hookers cut to resemble movie stars, missing heroin and a murder investigation) in LA of the early 1950's. Cops, prostitution, corrupt politicians and gangsters all touch each others lives and in the tabloid press in surprising ways.

The acting is terrific with James Cromwell, Kevin Spacey, Guy Pierce and Danny DeVito all selling their souls for ambition - and the price to be paid; deserved or not. The costumes and set design are first rate. If you like film noir, or just love well-crafted movies you'll have to look hard to find a better film.

5-0 out of 5 stars She is Lana Turner
Curtis Hanson's "L.A.Confidential" was the best movie of the year. It had class, acting, story line and macabre plot that was captivating. Though one might find it close to a comic Godfather and a cop-mafia movie, there is more to it. Right from the beginning when they introduce the city of Los Angeles in the "Hush Hush" magazine with Danny DeVito, it starts beautifully. I bet that they can never put together such a set of actors in one movie - Guy Pierce, Kevin Spacey, Kim Basinger and Russell Crowe, perish the thought.

I could not believe that they gave Titanic the Best Picture over this movie, the academy must have had a case of temporary dementia. I have no words for how bad that movie was in comparison. This movie was a masterpiece. Some people might have had problems with the violence. Guy Pierce was fantastic in the way he changes from the budding junior cop to the ambitious detective. This was Russell Crowe's ideal role, the part where he and Pierce go and challenge the DA is hilarious. Kevin Spacey is his usual witty self - his badge of honor role is outstanding. This had excellent screenplay - I was disappointed that it did not get enough oscars. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars the adrenalin rush of an amateur
Director Larry Elikann is a man of contradiction. He can tear your heart out with Mare Winningham as a homeless mother in God Bless the Child, but he also has an affinity with Armande Assante since he has used him so many times. Assante's macho swagger and don't-mess-with-me attitude may be Elikann's definition of masculinity but unfortunately in this HBO TVM either the director allows or insisted on Assante mangling his lines so that he is mostly unintelligible. I suppose real men like Assante and his ilk don't need to say much but this is definitely an obstacle to motivation, and his performance comes across as manically mannered. The extremity of Assante's act has an odd if not downright offensively homophobic parallel in Elikann's representation of his gay men as predatory prison inmates or black market peddlers. The first can be rationalised by men's need for sexual release, and the second as reckless playfulness, or one can take these portrayals seriously and not be amused. The setup here is that Assante has antagonised The Junkman in prison by refusing to be his "punk" so in retaliation the Junkman has his cohorts on the outside blackmail Assante when he is released by making a hostage of his former girlfriend, Marcia Gay Harden, now attached to Sam Neill. Since it doesn't look like The Junkman is going to be paroled anytime soon, you might wonder how much of an influence he can make from prison, but that given is probably explained by his gang all being pretty boys. Thankfully the kidnapping of Harden is delayed so that we have time to appreciate the casting against type, especially of Neill, as a bedroom stud and man who uncovers his own violent impulses. Harden's unusual look and edginess always makes her an interesting actress and she has been blessed by nature to be able to play sexy as well. Writer Larry Brothers tones up what is basically a triangle with obstacles, with Harden's mixed resistance to Assante's appeal, and I liked Brother's use of "the genie" being the granting of three wishes. Elikann avoids most of the action cliches and even comes up with the occasional memorable images - a cut from Assante's photo of Harden to her first appearance in closeup, a cut from her in profile to a boxed string of pearls, a pan from a wall to a night skyline, someone exiting a swinging door to giving Harden her first view of the returned Assante, and a flock of geese that act as guards to someone's home. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Traumatic transition from print to screen
After reading "The quiet game" and "24 hours", Greg Iles' books became constant on my "List of books to buy". Iles, to me, is like the earlier John Grisham , the good Grisham, who could write thrillers like "A time to kill" and "The firm".

"Trapped" is a movie based on Iles' "24 hours". It deals with a group of kidnappers who have devised the "perfect kidnapping plan", as Joey, the head of the gang, puts it: by separating the father, the mother, and the child, and by placing phone calls every thirty minutes, the kidnappers have total control of the situation. But this time it's not going to be that easy.

The book is gripping, thrilling and very well written in the sense that all characters' reactions are true to real life. When I knew that there was a movie based on "24 hours", featuring the beautiful Charlize Theron, the competent Kevin Bacon and with a screenplay written by the same author, I wanted to watch it right away. Unfortunately, the result is not the one I expected.

"Trapped" is one of those examples where the transition from print to screen is kind of traumatic. While the text makes the reader turn the pages faster, the movie scenes are rushed and make the viewers role their eyes. While the plot on text is believable, the plot on screen lacks elements so that the viewer fully understands what's going on. While reading the book, I could picture anyone I wanted as Joey, but watching the movie I had to put up with Bacon's worst acting in years. Once again, Charlize Theron is competent, and Pruett Taylor Vince is another good surprise.

Even so, with all these problems, "Trapped" is mildly entertaining and fast-paced, even if somewhat predictable. Greg Iles is an above average author, but needs polishment as a screenplay writer.

Grade 6.5/10

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT
With Kevin Bacon being one of my favorite actors and Charlize
Thron being a really talented up and coming actress not to mention how hot she is.Kevin Bacon goes to back to what he does
best and that is play the villan, and he is the villan with that
twisted grin,calm voice,and those killer tatoo's he play's his
best and slimiest villan since Sleepers and River Wild. Now to
the movie this as to be without a doubt the best and most enter-
taining kidnapper movie since Ransom. This movie has it all great
dialogue, character developement, action, and a twist that you really don't see coming.See this movie with in the first 8 -10
minutes of the movie you'll be drawn in to the best movie of it's
genre in recent years.Dont let the credit of the movie(and Kevin
Bacon)fool you he has more screen time in this than Wild Things
were his name is mentioned first in the credits.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow
Based upon a novel by Greg Iles, this movie absolutely Rocks!

Joe (Kevin Bacon) is a child kidnapper. He's done it before and he does it again. This time he choses Karen Jenning's family and in broad daylight he forces himself into her house and gets hold of Abigail, Karen's daughter.
But this time it is different. Abigail is asthmatic and she could die in kidnapper hands!

What'll happen next???
You better watch it yourself! :)

From the time Abigail gets kidnapped until the end of the movie you'll feel that you're sitting on thorns or you'll bite all your nails until "there's none".

Highly Recommended

1-0 out of 5 stars What's wrong with this movie.
Boring and I mean boring. The actors were fine but it is the story that stinks. Why didn't Stuart Townsend's and Charlize Theron's characters who had weapons each took out the bad guys and call the authorities immediately. And the helicopter chase scene didn't make any sense. Why didn't the FBI arrest Courtney Love's character earlier and when Kevin Bacon's character was hit in the face with a tire iron, how did he quickly recovered and was then shot to death.I saw so many flaws in the movie I could list them in a ten minute span.

2-0 out of 5 stars Predictable Kidnapping Drama...
The perfect kidnapping scheme is put into action by Joe Hickey (Kevin Bacon) for the fifth time as he and his companions kidnap Abby from the Jennings family. The plan consists of kidnapping Abby from the Jennings as Joe's brother, Marvin (Pruitt Taylor Vince), watches Abby for 24 hours. During this time Joe dictates to the mother what she should be doing to get the safe return of her daughter. While all of this is going on,, the father is self-contained as he is on a business trip. However, this time something goes wrong as Abby suffers from asthma. The cast performs well in this suspenseful action film, but it does not save the film as there is not much suspense in this predictable kidnapping drama. Trapped fails to convey a message as it jumps from scene to scene which ends up hurting the overall cinematic experience. ... Read more

This had excellent screenplay - I was disappointed that it did not get enough oscars. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment isn't a big enough word
After reading that Jet Li had turned down offers to star in the Matrix' upcoming sequels, I was intruiged at what this film could possibly have to offer that would be on par with that film's effects and (of course) martial arts production.

Sad to say, I was greatly underwhelmed by 'The One'. The concept (while fascinating) is handled in b-movie fashion with an above-average budget, with special emphasis placed on all the wrong things.

One of the reasons that 'Kiss Of The Dragon' was so effective was that they kept the slow-motion camera work to a minimum, leaving us to be entertained by Jet Li's naturally fast reflexes and superb choreography, not to mention a great soundtrack.

In 'The One', it's bad enough that the script is virtually non-existant, the action is far from Li's best, and the comic-book rendering of his fights detract from his greatest strength: real-time combat.

I laughed every time they brought the camera onto the 'tracking device', which they did 3 or 4 times at least. The director must have thought to get the most out of that particular effect by doing so, and the result is comical at best.

Especially bad is the final fight scene, which is overlong, and unimpressive. I can only hope that Jet Li either a) fires his agent, or b) picks a much better vehicle for his next film. It certainly won't get any worse than this.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Movies Rules Over All!
Ok, for all those people out there who said that 'The One" sucks and has no good story and plot and so on, i just hope they realise that any Jet Li movie is only meant to have a simple action plot and be full with kung fu and wire fu and maybe AWESOME special effects, just to give my opinion i think that 'The One's' special effects and kung fu were really cool and the slow motion bullet time stuff was quite amazing. How Jet Li could walk around that group of guards and smash the crap out of them without them even knowing what the hell was happeing coz he was so quick for them was absolutely mind-boggling. From the first fight scene where you see jet roll out of that vent and blow that guy down to the ground in slow motion told you how mad Jet was going to be. The music was a tad bit lame in parts but it still kept the flow for the fights and the last fight was so bloody excellent. I so recommend you see this movie if you like that matrix-kind of stuff and who cares if action movies these days have that matrix stuff, its still cool and makes me happy. Anyway this DVD will be in my hands before its released in Australia becoz my friend lives in singapore and its coming out on the 19 of January. So im totally excited. (...)

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't judge Jet Li by this movie
Even if you hated this movie and didn't like the way Jet Li acted in it, that doesn't mean you don't like Jet Li films. Go watch Twin Warriors, which is possibly the best Jet Li film ever. If you don't like that movie, then you probably won't like any other kung fu movies. Another good one is Jet Li's Fist of Legend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good movie, why all the negatives?
When I first watched this movie I did not know what to expect. I had never even heard of it until it was available to rent. Once I was able to see it, I thought it was a very good movie, but not perfect. The concept of a multiverse makes for good sci-fi and this movie was definately interesting to me. The story goes like this: there are 123 universes that make up the multiverse, and in each universe there is a different version of each person that exists in the other universes. Jet Li plays Gabe Law, a cop in one universe. In another universe he is Yu Law, a man obsessed with power. Power and strength are divided equally among the 123 universes, and each time of of the variants dies, his power is divided among the rest of the men. So Yu Law has been illegally been traveling within the multiverse and has killed all but one of "himself" and himself. Sound complicated yet? It may be to some people but watching it clears a lot up. So two multiverse agents are after Yu Law since he has murdered all of the others, and Gabe Law is drawn in to stop him also. The balance in the multiverse could be destroyed if there is only one left. So that is that in a nutshell. The movie is loaded with great fight scenes and special effects that make for a visual treat. My favorite scene is in the beginning when Yu Law kills the guy while he is in police custody. Now this movie is not perfect, and it does get to a point where it gets a little dull for a while. Just be patient because it does get better, especially with the fight between Gabe and Yu Law. Some people are giving this movie negative reviews because of the unoriginality. Is it unoriginal? Perhaps to a certain extent. Are the special effects a rip-off of movies like the Matrix? Somewhat. But this isnt the first movie to copy elements from that movie and it sure will not be the last. If you are a sci-fi fan you may enjoy this movie. If you just want to see a good action movie with awesome special effects, check this one out. You may or may not like it, it is a matter of taste. But I really enjoyed it, enough so to give it 4 stars.

1-0 out of 5 stars Who cares about the multiverse
Terribly boring. I tried my best to like this as a Jet Li fan, but couldn't. If being bored could make you cry, then I'd have to setup a dam outside of my house. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars OK Comedy/Action Movie!
This is a Martin Lawrence vehicle all the way. It's the first time he has to carry a whole movie and he comes out semi/successful. The plot is passable and the screenplay manages to create some likable characters, mainly Luke Wilson. Also with some nice action sequences. Lawrence brand of comedy may not appeal to some, Martin Lawrence plays it safe doing an impression of Eddie Murphy in 'Beverly Hills Cop' and '48 Hours'. Ultimately successful at being funny and entertaining. From a scale of 1-10 I give this film a 6!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Ensemble Cast,Incredible Disc,Great Sound,Hillarious.
This Movie is Sooooo Good, For One I like it because it has william forsythe, and anyone who's seen the movie gotti, he played sammy gravano, very well, he's an excellent talent, martin lawrence is also an incredible talent,it's a pleasure just to watch him in any film, but this story isn't even half bad, it's actually very good, david chapelle - with martin, they've got this tremendous chemistry together, they just "flow" - worth the price of admission alone, there is a great soundtrack, So Plus, Featuring Ja Rule(Also One of the Features Music Video's In the Extras.) You've Got Tyrese and Heavy D(The Second One.) And You've got the man Of NY Himself, Jigga, Jay-z In Girls Best Friend, These Videos are alone worth the Price, you've got "two" making of documentaries, this disc is loaded, also there is a scene in the movie, where martin "jams" to his music, in the film itself, there is a Joint In it by the hot boys, Juvey,B.G.Lil Wayne, and Young Turk, This is easily one of my favorite films of all time, because when you watch it, you don't get that usual "tired" feeling, it's just so pleasurable, like champagne, and a big fat cuban cigar, ment to be enjoyed, you'll watch this movie, several times over, you'll listen to Ja Rule's Video, hundreds of times over, it's incredible, so push, the features artists to me, they bring to mind En Vogue, They've definately got talent, and the Soundtrack BUMPS, GET THIS DISC! , I'm Out.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mindless Fun
In one of the few movies where Martin Lawrence's humor doesn't become seriously racist and xenophobic he plays Miles Logan, a jewel thief, after a $20 million diamond. But one of his team betrays him (Peter Greene, once again playing a bad guy) and they're plan is thrown all out of whack. After hastily stashing the diamond in a nearby construction site he is soon arrested sent away for 2 years.

Upon release he heads back to the construction site only to find it's turned into a police station. No luck getting back in unless you're a cop then. A series of disguises fail and Logan ends up impersonating a cop in order to get to the diamond. But he's so good at the impersonation that police duty gets in the way and he's partnered with Carlson (Luke Wilson).

Mild plot complications ensue and it becomes increasingly difficult for Logan to get to the diamond. Though the trouble really starts when Deacon (Peter Greene) comes back to get him.

It's all brainless stuff but it makes for enjoyably silly viewing. Lawrence's improv isn't all that funny but the rest of his performance is strangely tolerable. Wilson isn't his usual self in the wimpy cop role but it's weird watching him pronounce 'real OLD SCHOOL' 4 years before said movie was released. And Dave Chappelle is hilarious Tulley, the amateur liquor store robber.

There was supposed to be a sequel but plans for it fell through. It would have been a hundred times better than the awful Bad Boys sequel regardless of script quality.

The DVD is in bright, clean 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen with a lively Dolby 5.1 soundtrack. There are some extras but nothing groundbreaking.

5-0 out of 5 stars A man with a plan
Martin Lawrence, (Miles Logan), plays a jewel theif who is arrested by police and returns to the place where he left his jewel only to find that it is a police station after his release from prision. He becomes a police while trying to find his jewel and actually solves crimes. Martin Lawerence has a good role and a good sense of humor in this film.

All in all, this movie (by my opinion) should have won more than it did. The screenplay and best supporting actress was not enough for this movies excellence. END ... Read more

I would see it if you have a decent amount of time on your hands and nothing else to do. ...

Terribly boring. I tried my best to like this as a Jet Li fan, but couldn't. If being bored could make you cry, then I'd have to setup a dam outside of my house. ... Read more

Trapped fails to convey a message as it jumps from scene to scene which ends up hurting the overall cinematic experience. ...

5-0 out of 5 stars This movie has jokes
funny, both cast and story. Loved it and sure you'll love it too, not just another comedy but this has something rare, comedy and action. ...

Elikann avoids most of the action cliches and even comes up with the occasional memorable images - a cut from Assante's photo of Harden to her first appearance in closeup, a cut from her in profile to a boxed string of pearls, a pan from a wall to a night skyline, someone exiting a swinging door to giving Harden her first view of the returned Assante, and a flock of geese that act as guards to someone's home. ...
