5-0 out of 5 stars one of my favorite movies of all time
The Wraith is awsome!

the movie is about a kid named Jamie Henkins who gets killed by a car gang led by Packard. the rest of the gang includes Oggie, who drives my favorite car, Minty, Clint Howard (forgot his character's name) and my two favorites, Skank and Gutterboy.

a new kid suddenly shows up to town named Jake, who is really Jamie in his new form and comes back to take back his love, Keri Johnson.
from here, the action begins. the car the wraith drives, from what i heard, is a Dodge Turbo Interceptor, custom, and awsome! the best car in the movie.
after racing Oggie and Minty and getting his revenge on them, he then runs head on into their warehouse where they kill the lively duo of Skank and the Gutterboy. these two are hilarous and if for not the cars, then these 2 hooligans will keep you watching this film over and over.

Packard, after denying that Jamie, the wraith has come back for him, Packard is confronted by the wraith in a cemetary where Pack sees his own grave! in one last brilliant race, the Wraith and the Turbo race Pack and his corvette. the ending is brilliant. head on crash, ball of fire, just flat out awsome. this movie is awsome!

movie stars Charlie Sheen, Randy Quaid, Clint Howard, and Sherilyn Fenn. great movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great 80's Hero/Revenge Story with a tough of love
I was 16 or 17 when I saw this movie and I loved it. If you are looking for a deep, serious, modern, adult, tear-jerking drama, you don't want this. Having said that, this is an otherwise very cool movie! It is one of my favorite movies of the 80's (top 20) and an early masterpiece for Charlie Sheen. Hero ghost comes back and gets revenge, scores points with the girl, and sets up his bro with a hot supernatural car... sounds a little cheesey? Hey, it's a 1986 action movie about a ghost coming back for revenge! But, for it's time it is EXCELLENT! I recommend it. The car is incredible and yes, I want one. To this day (I'm 32 now) I look for photos of it on the web. The Dodge Turbo Interceptor. Anyway, the movie is a good action/revenge movie with a hint of comedy and an awesome soundtrack. "Where's the Fire" by Tim Feehan is fantastic and ahead of it's time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Soundtrack, where are you?
I've read through the entire customer reviews and no one seems to have any clue as to where to get the movie soundtrack to this perfect 80's movie. My one favorite song in the movie is "Hold On, Blue Eyes" by LaMarca. But I can't get any info on this group. I don't know if the name "LaMarca" is a band or a solo artist. It's very difficult to get the soundtrack, and I don't see why. So what if it's an old 80's movie. Look at Grease. That movie came out like in the late 70's or something. Ugh! And not to mention Saturday Night Fever, which came out like when Jesus was sipping wine and breaking bread with his disciples. Both the soundtracks are still around, never hard to find, and still selling like flies. Can I get a witness? Grease may be more of a popular movie than The Wraith, but still....I'm still an ANGRY customer. IF THERE'S ANY DIE HARD 'WRAITH' FAN WHO KNOWS WHERE AND HOW I CAN GET THE SOUNDTRACK, EMAIL ME: vahnatfranco@hotmail.com.....apps~

p.s...and to amazon.com staff, this may sound silly, but I'm desperate. If you can assist me at all in finding this movie's soundtrack, please inform me.

I love this movie soo much. Had a major crush on Charlie Sheen because of this movie. But where could I find the movie soundtrack to this fantastic 80's movie? It's an old movie, I know. But inquiring minds want to know where to get this movie's soundtrack.

3-0 out of 5 stars "The Wraith" Review
The ultimate cheesy 80's car race picture has Charlie Sheen as the new kid in town who ends up having problems with a drag-racing gang led by Nick Cassavettes in all of his overacting glory. The gang, who has been terrorizing the local motorists, end up having to deal with another visitor, a supernatural vigilante with a futuristic super car. Throw in Randy Quaid as the angry town sheriff and Clint Howard as the gang's braniac cheerleader and you have good idea of what you're in store for with this underrated B-movie gem. The soundtrack which features music from Ozzy Osbourne, Robert Palmer, and others is the film's bread-n-butter. ... Read more

What looks like a standard 1980s holiday-themed slasher movie turns out to be a much more witty venture. A group of college students head out for a weekend of relaxation and April Fools' pranks at an isolated island cottage, catching the very last ferry until Monday morning. A practical joke goes awry, hostess Muffy starts tromping around in frumpy clothes and acting like she's not quite herself, and the bodies start piling up. Don't you just hate it when you're on a completely remote island and the phone goes out? All of this is done, though, with a fairly low gore content and a sly wink at the usual slasher conventions--rather than whodunit, the trick is to figure out what's in good fun and what's real bloodletting. It ain't Citizen Kane, but it's not a bad evening's enjoyment either.--Ali Davis ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Remember being scared by this one? Hold on to that memory.
...P>APRIL FOOL'S DAY still impresses with relatively high production values and decent performances, especially given the genre and budget. Deborah Foreman especially shines and it's a pity she didn't have much, much more screen time. As it stands, the enigmatic Muffy is tragically absent for most of the film. Director Fred Walton makes the most of the material but never approaches the moments of near-genius he displayed in both WHEN A STRANGER CALLS... films. Like those films, however, APRIL FOOL'S DAY suffers a bit as the storyline rambles and wanders at the exact points when it should be taut and precise and far too much screen time is devoted to inane chatter and excessive crude sexual innuendo, even for a teen slasher.

For all its now-predictable twists and turns, APRIL FOOL'S DAY still fails to thoroughly entertain the veteran horror fan. Gore is almost entirely absent from the film, as is nudity, which could help to qualify it as a fun outing for younger fans of thrillers were it not for the sidebars of consistently lewd dialogue.

APRIL FOOL'S DAY also suffers now that we've entered the post-SCREAM era. In 1986, no other horror film had really toyed with the slasher film conventions. Nowadays, though, it comes off as a tired exercise. And one with no payoff. The "twist" ending is a twist only for the most naive of viewers and the requisite "second surprise ending" is no surprise at all. Even a darker turn on the final scene couldn't have saved APRIL FOOL'S DAY, but it could have perhaps maintained its status as I film I'd like to remember rather than one I'd now like to forget.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST 80's Horror - Cult Classic!
I've seen this movie so many times - it has that classic cheezy 80s feel & a great twist - perfect for get-togethers with friends. It's Scary, Sexy, and FUN! And if you like it, consider checking out "Valley Girl" - another Deborah Foreman classic!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars absolute classic slasher!!! BUT MY DVD HAS HORRID AUDIO!!!
i don't know if its my specific paramount dvd version or if its all of paramount dvd versions??? i have read plenty of reviews on this page & not one person has mentioned the BAD audio & that confuses me!! i mean how can nobody else notice it????? its almost as bad as the anchor bay dvd version of MARIO BAVA'S "twitch of the death nerve"(aka"bay of blood") i am so T'D OFF right now!!!! i just got done watching it & i can't believe how hard it was to sit through it !! at regular volume you get this constant buzz & the sound keeps moving up & down i had to keep turning it up but the higher i went the louder the buzz, pretty much to the point where the buzz over powers the sound!!! this SUCKS because I LOVE THIS CLASSIC & i was so exited when i found it on dvd!!!! 5 stars for this great classic slasher flick!!! but 1 star for the HORRID CRUDDDDDDDDDY audio/sound on my dvd version!?!?!?!? p.s. to any of my fellow horror fans out there if there is anyway you can respond to this PLEASE let me know if its just my version!!! im keeping my fingers crossed that it is because then i can just go find another one!!! later on fellow horror fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!

April Fool's Day [ Horror ]

MY CURRENT RATINGS:
7/10 Movie: April Fool's Day (1986)

An above average horror movie. This was definetly a better horror movie in the 80's.I would reccomend this movie to anyone. The ending is great! If for nothing else go to see the ending. It's really a who-dun-it film that doen't really much on gore which is good for some of you quesy people out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this film.
What can I say? It's not the best film ever made, but it is a lot of fun. It starts out as your basic slasher film; good looking young people on an isolated island get killed one by one. Then you get to the ending, which breaks out of the formula. A delightful movie. I just wish the DVD edition had some extras. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Escape Artist - Almost Gets Away!
The Escape Artist has several things going for it. Teen actor (at the time time in question) Griffin O'Neil gives an excellent performance as the "escape artist", a teenage magician skilled in such nice things as magic tricks and not-so-nice things as lock picking, burgulary, safe cracking, and pickpocketing. Movie legends Desi Arnaz and Raul Julia also have starring roles. Unfortunately, the plot sputters to a standstill midway through the movie and winds up going no place fast.

It is based on the book of the same name and follows the plot of the book very closely which leads to its fatal flaw - not enough time being spent on the screenplay adaptation. The secret in creating a movie from a book is realizing that the audience will be seeing a movie, and knowing which parts of the book to include and which ones not to. The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Harry Potter movies and Silence of the Lambs are excellent examples of proper book to movie adaptation.

The Escape Artist, regretfully, is not. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GHOULIES AND CRITTERS
I WILL BE 14 ON THE 9TH. I HAVE THIS MOVIE ON VIDEO AND I KNOW WHERE TO GET PART 2 BUT I JUST HOPE THAT THEY STILL HAVE IT CAUSE THEY DID HAVE 3 COPIES OF IT. I REALLY LIKE THE GHOULIES SERIES I HAVEN'T SEEN PART 4 BUT PART 3 IS MY FAVORITE. ITS FUNNY THE GHOULIES EFFECTS ARE REALLY GOOD I MEAN I DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE PUPPETS OR WHAT BUT IF THEY ARE I PAYED CLOSE ATTENTION TO HOW THEY WALK AND MOVE AND I DID NOT SEE ONE FLAW LIKE TWO OF THE CHUCKY MOVIES IN WHICH I LIKE THOSE TOO BUT ANYWAY THIS SERIES AND THE CRITTER SERIES ARE VERY SIMMILAR. I MEAN THEY BOTH EQUAL UP TO PART 4'S AND THEY ARE CHEAP FUNNY COOL SCI FI'S I OWN CRITTERS 2 ON VIDEO. I LIKE THIS MOVIE YOU REALLY NEED TO SEE IT. ITS REFRESHING.

3-0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER KICK TO THE GHOULIES!
If you are wanting a horror movie that will give chills then look elsewhere. This film is not meant to be serious, its purpose is to entertain rather than scare. I actually use the term 'horror' very loosely when applying it to this movie, really it is just a camp, college movie with a horror element. The main plot doesn't really revolve around the funny little creatures, rather it focuses on the attempts of two rival gangs (the Gammas and the Betas) to out 'prank' each other and claim the much coveted pranking crown. The Ghoulies do however provide some comical moments and some of the effects are entertaining.

It is hard to believe that this film was made in the nineties. It has a very dated mid-eighties feel to it, due to the use of directing and scripting styles that were popular during that era, as well as the use of gratuitous nudity, which has become expected of films within this category. These are not complaints, they actually make the movie watchable. After all, the eighties was the decade which invented this genre and to present it in any other format just wouldn't fit. The acting is probably also slightly better than one would normally expect fom such a movie, but then again, the script provides no particular challenges.

There are similarities to movies such as Critters and Gremlins, but Ghoulies never comes close to achieving the same standards. That's not to say that it isn't worth watching, just don't expect too much, and if you enjoy silly films, such as Troma's offerings then you will undoubtedly enjoy this. If you can get it cheap, then this is overall, a fun movie to have in your collection.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap wannabe slasher flick
Ghoulies III is a cheap excuse for a Ghoulies film. Stupid NEW story line, NO gore, NO horror, and very little horror. The story, a cheap slapped-together piece of filth, about a comic that brings talking Ghoulies to life. And, just for kicks, there is some nudity thrown in. Don't waste your time with this "horror-comedy".

5-0 out of 5 stars Ghoulies Forever
As the title implies, in Ghoulies III, the gang goes to college. I'm not sure if they were actually enrolled or not or if they went to any classes. But let's be honest. Is that the real purpose of college? Everyone knows that the american college student's raison de etre is to drink mass quantities of beer, sneak into the all-girls dormitory, and, above all, PARTY! And this is exactly what the Ghoulies do (in addition to disembowling a few nerds along the way). Why would a bunch of terrorizing little demons be any different? In fact the Ghoulies make a seemless transition into the college environment. No one finds it strange that, among the regular crowd of humans, there are a bunch of grotesque knee-high demons scurrying around. This is a testament to the validity of America as the great and noble melting pot. The spirt of America truely knows no boundries. It doesn't discriminate against race, colour, sex, handicap, or even species. When the college students see the Gholouies, they don't see them as disgusting bloodthirsty little creatures; they see them as equals, and treat them as such. As it turned out, they could have even learned a thing or two from the Ghoulies. In one scene that is permantely etched upon my brain, the Ghoulies, about three or four of them if I remember correctly, are sitting beside a giant steel fridge stacked with cans and cans of beer. There is a huge wall of beer in front of them--no less I imagine than four-hundered cans. And the ghoulies, like model college students, polish every can off, with relish I might add. Then, when they're finished the beer, they lie back on the floor, their stomaches swelled out like watermelons. After this, the Ghoulies sneak into the all-girls dormitory. And there is a hilariously steamy shower scene which follows that is truly one of the best moments in cinema. This movie proves that the Ghoulies are one of the most adaptable species on earth. Perhaps this has something to do with their origins in the netherworld. Whatever the case you can be rest assured that these lovable and vicious critters will continue to be featured in movies. At present there are four Ghoulies movies. And there is no end in sight. At least there shouldn't be. After all, the possibilities are literally endless: Ghoulies in Space. Ghoulies on Vacation. Ghoulies go to Vegas. Ad infinitum. Long live the Ghoulies!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but to close to a cheap college porno flick
This movie was really goofy and laughable almost all the time. The only problem is that it is just a cheap porno type flick. The movie has no resemblence to the first film and even runs on a totally diffrent story line. The only original thing are three of the origanal ghoulies. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars A RERELEASE TO BOOT!!!!
There are times EVIL LIVES works as a parody of itself. I mean here we have an aging Tristan Rogers (Days of Our Lives) playing some kind of demon worshiper whose wife died 600 years ago. The only way he can continue to have her is to kill women and have his wife inhabit their bodies for about three or four hours, and then he has to kill more. Farfetched, but original!! However, most of the acting is unusually bad, including Tyrone Power Jr. as hunky cop Scott. Dawn Wells (Mary Ann from GILLIGAN'S ISLAND) has a whopping one minute scene!!!! Julie Strain porn queen supreme is the first corpse....anyway, the movie plods along at a predictable pace and the ending is so out of nowhere, one can only wonder why Griffin O'Neal agreed to be in it!
Not as bad as it could have been, but not all that good either!

2-0 out of 5 stars Re-released, but why?
I seem to attract bad movies. Evil lives was re-released in 1999.. I think it was called Soulmates in its 1992 release. Anyway, this movie is bad, and it knows it. The musical score mocks the bad editing purposely. Because of the movie's self-awareness of how poor it is, this movie actually is almost worth watching. However, you must be in a strange, caffeine-induced, let's-watch-a-bad-movie mood. If you don't like watching bad movies, you won't like this one. I wouldn't be surprised to see this film getting ripped to shreds on Science Mystery Theater. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE STREETS WERE THEIR KINGDOM VIOLENCE THEIR LAW
David Carradine plays a cop on the world's toughest beat, a street in Los Angeles where life is cheaper than a morning paper. The kids who call this street home are as tough as its pavement; living in darkness, slipping through the shadows, they are Night Children. Their leader, Blade, played by Griffin O'Neal, cannot help but destroy what he loves.

Nancy Kwan plays a probation officer trying to save Blade's girlfriend Jenny, and her friend Susie, from the whirlpool of drugs and violence on the street. In the end, it is only her gun that saves anyone. A taut, well-plotted film, Night Children careens with all the energy and naked violence of today's headlines. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Queen of the B movie!
This film is the mother lode of most B films out there. It includes a cast of very well known actors such as Nick Cassavettes, Eddie Deezen (anyone who knows movies knows who he is), Griffin O'Neal, and Jaimie Bozian. Not to forget the main stars of the film Elizabeth Kaitan and Christina Whitaker. Their portrayals of the street smart go go dancers who outsmart the law and just about everyone else is impecable. I believe they put their so called counterparts, Thelma and Louise, to shame. Could Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon pull off the classical art form in a rock and roll format..... in bikini's? I think not! The repoire between these two fine actresses mezmorizes any viewers of the film. Not to mention their way cool Plymouth Fury! The dialouge is superb....well, it is really funny. Perhaps besting the written dialouge is the ad libbed background lines. Although you really have to listen or see the film about 100 times, this part really makes some scenes shine. As a veteran Bimbo watcher, the best aspect of the film is the surfers and their crazy antics. Their car also rules and makes any surfer jealous beyond belief. Tune into their lingo and "pastimes" and feel like you are sitting in the back seat with "Billy-Boy". I could go on and on about this film and recite the entire dialouge, but I will just say....WATCH THIS FILM AND LEARN! So.....COWABUNGA and enjoy!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not bad enough to be funny, just bad
My wife and I love funny-bad bimbo movies. Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death is one of our favorites, and we love anything by Andy Sidaris.

This one just reaks. The dialog is flat and the people don't look like they had fun making it. Rent it, don't buy it. Yech.

4-0 out of 5 stars Totally irreverent --nothing sacred here....
This very tiny sub-genre of film-making is well served in the classic spoof on feminism and cultural stereotyping in general. There's lots to laugh about (and cry about) in our zany cultural makeup, but Bimboism is still a topic much unexplored by social scientists and humanists alike.

Don't expect any revelations or high art experiences, just a funny satire on sexual stereotypes in modern day America. And, once again, we are blessed with the highly entertaining presence of Elizabeth Kaitan...

5-0 out of 5 stars "Oh no! A bimbo with a guhhhhhnnnnnn!!!"
When you start out to make a bad film and it is truly bad, you've actually created high art. So many people set out to make good films that ultimately fail. Why aim so high when you can create a classic like "Killer Bimbos"?

I was actually startled to find this film had been transferred to DVD. It's one of those films that you watch with your friends and end up laughing yourself sick.

The basic premise of the film is about a couple of go-go dancers who are mistakenly fingered for offing their sleazy boss. While on the run from the police, they "rescue" Darlene, a trackstop waitress and attempt to find Mexico. During this ridiculous escapade, one of the girls feels she isn't very pretty and the ringleader decides that the middle of the desert is a great place for a makeover.

There are some amazingly stupid lines that are so funny that you will find yourself quoting them at some point down the road.

Do yourselves a favour and pick up this gem. It's only $9.98 and worth every penny. I was well chuffed to find this one. Now, if they could only get the classic "Nice Girls Don't Explode" with Barbara Harris, Michelle Meyrink and Wallace Shawn onto DVD, my life would be complete!

3-0 out of 5 stars Rear-Ender
This movie is worth watching if you want to see one of the great rear-ends in b-movie history and that belonging to Elizabeth Kaitan. ...

This movie is worth watching if you want to see one of the great rear-ends in b-movie history and that belonging to Elizabeth Kaitan. ...

I wouldn't be surprised to see this film getting ripped to shreds on Science Mystery Theater. ... Read more
