4-0 out of 5 stars Slick neo-noir that delivers the goods
Awash in the sea of neo-noirs that have surfaced since 1980's Body Heat, Delusion manages to stand out by dint of its slick, edgy hipness, both in acting and script. Carl Copaert's direction is a perfect complement to the script co-written by him and Kurt Voss, writer of another overlooked, edgy 90s neo-noir, Genuine Risk.

Jim Metzler is George O'Brien, a corporate guy fed up with his boss' stupidity and greed who, because of that, embezzles from his company a nice stash of cash and hightails it from L.A. luxe to barren desert roads. In so doing he finds Patty and Chevy (Jennifer Rubin and Kyle Secor--he of later Homicide fame), a wacked odd young couple who pretend auto hardship to get a lift from George.

Unfortunately they're not telling the truth. Chevy is, shall we say, unstable. And Patty? Hard to say. Rubin makes her a great, sexy femme fatale. The question is, is she REALLY a femme fatale? Or isn't she? Actually, it's Chevy's instability that drives this baby, just like it drives George to do things which, as a conservative business guy, he normally would not do. But of course he's ALREADY done something off the beaten track, stealing the dough. This is a great noir road movie that updates a buncha earlier flicks.

It's given further oomph when Chevy directs George to his pal Larry, Jerry Ohrbach, who Chevy needs to see about some stuff. This is the capper for Chevy's instability--hey, I'm not gonna give anything away here. Check it out yourself, it's worth it.

Patty and Chevy are not always, let's say, compatible. George and Chevy? Same thing. This is a flick that does what it's supposed to do and does a great job, too. You like noir?

Here's a perfect 90s slice of it, pardner. Grab it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mesmerizing, unforgettable, haunting -- TEN stars, this one!
Delusion is an offbeat, utterly fascinating character study, involving a yuppy-ish computer investor (George O'Brien) who, in the process of taking embezzled cash from L.A. to Reno, picks up a luckless pair of hitchhikers near Death Valley. Against a spectacular landscape that is both serene and strangely eerie, the viewer gets to know the strange couple -- Patty, part-hooker, part-Vegas showgirl, and Chevy, her cruel, psychotic, and curiously dependent boyfriend.

There is more to this movie than just a believable and captivating plot. The dialogue, the acting, soundtrack, props, the interaction between characters -- even the timing and camera work -- are done to complete perfection. The complex personalities of these two misfits, at once threatening and pathetic, unravel on film against a backdrop that gives the film a truly spellbinding atmosphere.

Delusion is a masterpiece that explores the contradictions of human behavior in a way that almost defies comparison. It is full of subtle irony and metaphor, and it builds to a conclusion that is more dramatic than climactic, more satifying than exciting. It is one of a kind, and in my opinion, the greatest film ever made.

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST ART FILMS I HAVE EVEN SEEN
JENNIFER RUBIN AND KYLE SECOR ARE MADE FOR EACH OTHER. EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE THE BAD GUYS, YOU CAN'T HELP BUT LIKE THEM. SECOR PLAYED HIS PART WITH PERFECTION.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enthralling. You will be drawn in, then stay there!
As with many things, simplicity is elegance. Director Carl Colpaert uses the stark, desolate images of the desert to spark your own emotions for the characters and storyline of this film, rather than having the actors over-tell the story through tiresome dialogue. You really FEEL the loneliness and isolation of the players and their un-enviable positions. Yet, at the same time the capitivating, unique (often refreshingly quirky) characters counterbalance the harshness of the plot and setting. Images of Hitchcock, gangsters, and old west gunslingers seem to meet in a Twilight Zone world. Visually stunning! The deserts of Death Valley may be the real star of this show. Watch... be capitivated... and be moved. Enjoy!Of Note: Something MUST be done to make the cost of video more accessible! $80 is unrealistic for a 1991 "art film."

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent, entertaining, riveting, deep movie.
This movie takes you through many aspects of human nature - Love, Lust, Greed, Desperation, and Survival - to name a few. It,s very thought provoking not unlike several original Star Trek television episodes. Although it would be nice to see the price of this movie drop from it's $ 80 price to a more reasonable level being that it's been out for over 7 years. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice soft porn
This title is notable, and buyable, for one reason only: its extended lesbian sex sequence. Both Tamara Landry and Jeanine Antoine make this a DVD that must be added to your collection. Ignore the 'plot', the 'acting', etc. etc., just jump to the this scene and you won't have wasted your [money] :)

3-0 out of 5 stars HOW NOT TO MAKE A DVD
I give it three stars for the actors and the story, but not for the quality of the DVD. The picture quality is about that of a VHS, but there are no, and I mean no, extras on it. No trailers, no cast bio's, not even scene selections. Whoever cranked this out should take some lessons on what is expected of this format.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's not really porn... is it?
This is the kind of erotica you watch when you need to be able to excuse it to yourself. It's got a nice plot, action and suspense, and some quality acting. A nice variety of girls, and the photoshoots provide lots of different locales and types of clothing (or lack thereof).

5-0 out of 5 stars outstanding deserving of an oscar
This movie was excellent. Strike a pose has everything you could ever want from a movie. It provides action suspense and drama that is unparalled by many movies. I would recommend it for the whole family. i saw it 4 times already and feel that i could watch it 4 more times. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Strike "Naughty" From the Title
"Nude" doesn't exactly apply except for a few breif moments. "Naughty" didn't even have a place in the title. If you're into breasts, you'll love this, but if you like more full nudity, spend your money on something else.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dumb As Stumps, But We Loved It
This DVD was viewed as a thank you from the boys at Zeta Tau. My nephew Nigel recently returned to his frat house at the University of Dubuque becoming, as he calls it, "A Red-Shirt Senior" after failing most of his senior semester classes last year. Your's truly, The Dipper (who also took five years and one summer semester to pass his 120 credits at this fine institution), had to drive Nigel to Iowa (due to his lead foot and smart mouth to Johnny Law) so he could continue in his testosterone drenched "education". After 19 hours straight on the interstate (practice he said for Spring Break), we pulled up to Animal House to find the house strangely quiet and seemingly desolate. Following a trail of empty brew cans up the stairs, we found the brothers ogling with glee while watching "Nude & Naughty California Girls" on their new DVD player. Judging by the near full warm keg of Brew Light behind them and the stack of numerous "Girls Gone Wild" DVDs nearby, they had apparently not blinked or been able to pull their eyes from the TV screen for about the last six hours straight! They grunted a Neanderthal greeting as we entered and stayed riveted to the screen. This warmed Ol' Dipper's heart seeing the bonds of Greek brotherhood being welded into place! I was invited to join in and grabbed an empty coffee can full of brew before piling onto the crusty old frat couch for a viewing of "what guys love most"! As expected (and hoped for), there were no traces of substantive plots, wonderfully arranged mise en scènes, or attempts at character development. There were just piles of gamesome ingénues strutting about through completely mindless Acts and Scenes. Yes, this DVD is pure frathouse dreaming at it's best (worst)! If viewed non-stop for a few days, material of this quality could certainly return homo sapiens to it's feral state. Needless to say, we loved every bit of our male childishness. Recommended for the dumb at heart! Hubba hubba!!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This film should be quarantined
Obviously, it is just far too easy for anyone to pick up a camera, shoot some video, and call the thing a movie. Bikini Med School is absolutely pointless, annoying, and insufferable. All of the action takes place at some kind of frat house at a medical school boasting the acronym of Quack. Entertainment comes in the form of three contests: bikini, whipped cream bikini, and lingerie. I could barely tell the difference between each girl, but I may have been blinded by the big hair phenomenon that seemed to infect this entire movie. Bikini Med School screams 1980s and gives no impression of actually having been filmed in the mid-1990s. There is a little bit of dialogue here, of course, but it is made up almost exclusively of medicine-related sexual innuendoes. A number of guys make bets as to their planned conquests of the night, and couples sneak upstairs to the "Tunnel of Love" every so often. Throw in a lot of padded scenes of young people dancing to utterly horrible rock music, and you have the entire movie in a nutshell. I really can't overstate just how bad the music is, especially given the fact that it is blaring constantly throughout the entire movie. Here's the really weird part, though. When the movie started, a subtitle came up on screen; I found this rather strange. Well, 55 minutes in, a new subtitle came up, and the rest of the film dealt with a completely new set of characters (although the contests on stage continued as normal).

Forget about these bikini and lingerie contests; they are actually the most boring part of the whole ordeal. There is one distinguishing aspect to this celluloid monstrosity, for what it's worth (which isn't much): the contestants are introduced as if they are being paged over a hospital intercom and are thanked for their contributions to research and the like when they finish. This is not the way to make a movie. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Shauna's Best Work..Dont Waste Your Money On R-Rated
Normally I wouldnt do this, but when I see a movie that stands out the way this one does I like to come here and tell everybody about it. In 1999 former Penthouse Pet of the Month January 1992 Shauna O'Brien hopped into the cast of Alain Siritzky's 4-part Cinemax treat 'Scandal'. Think of the stereotypical portrayl of sex and politics these days...you got your illicit photographs, your sleezy politicians in positions of power, and your beautiful women who ruin the lives of the honest working, usually married men who fall victim to temptation in the office. 'Scandal-The Big Turn On' and 'Scandal-Fifteen Minuets of Fame' are the only two featuring Shauna, and they're the only two worth buying. The newly posed B-Movie queen Shauna with eyes that could burn through steel and a body to match, plays the role of Holly--a stripper who gives a show to a detective and finds herself caught in scandal when pictures surface and lead to him. Forget about the story..This isnt for the disturbed people out there looking for hard-core movies with women in nurses outfits, camera angles and good editing keep it on a sexually respectfull level..giving light to the beautiful figures these girls have. Shauna O'Brien has three good scenes, I dont really care about the other few scenes with the other girls...but I think Siritzky thought of that and made Shauna the star because of it. Shauna's appeared in over 30 films since 1992. This was the first movie of hers' that I bought and if it made me want to look around for other movies of her's...this is a good DVD. Its also the best one Ive seen her in and I think a great number of shoppers here would agree (why do you think these two titles are always running out of stock everywhere?) If your a fan of B-Movie erotic plays, you cant get any better than this and it doesn't get any better than Shauna O'Brien. If you want a movie of hers on VHS, Id recommend staying away from the edited R-Rated versions and getting the Unrated copies of 'The Escort'-1997, 'Zorrita-Passions Avenger'-1999, 'The Black Widow Escort'-1998, or 'Platinum Blonde'-2000...

3-0 out of 5 stars AN OK FILM
Not a bad entry into the soft core erotica listings. It has a plot and some acting that goes a step or two above the high school level. Shauna O'Brien does a decent job playing a stripper, although to my mind, her breasts have been surgically malformed through implants. Why do these women do this to themselves? It may be that producers force them to; surely the decision can't be voluntary.

3-0 out of 5 stars not bad, check it out
typical Shauna O'Brien movie..little bit of mystery, fair amount of sex, acting wasn't too bad, worthwhile if you are a fan, which is why I bought it ... Read more
