4-0 out of 5 stars Jason lives; what else is new?
"Friday the 13th, Part VI - Jason Lives" is one of the better sequels, it certainly belongs beside Part 2. Shortly after the events in Part 5, Tommy Jarvis and a friend go to dug up Jason's corps and cremate it. But lightning striked the body and gives it life again. So Jason goes on a new murder spree as Tommy tries to convince the local sheriff to help stop Jason. While it's not high art, it really isn't bad either, not even close. There is a subtle bit of humor underlining the movie that kept things light; maybe lighter than they should be in a horror movie. Tom Mcloughlin dose a pretty good job as the tormented man with the Cassandra complex. Jason is now not so much a retarted psychopath anymore as he's more of a zombie this time out. The kills are bloody, but I have a feeling there was a little more that the evil MPAA had cut out. (The MPAA probably did more cutting than Jason did.) So, will you enjoy the movie? If your a slasher fan, then yes. If your an average movie goer, maybe, maybe not.

4-0 out of 5 stars Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
This impressive entry in the popular horror series brings back the relentless killer Jason Voorhees, this time as a supernatural zombie. Tommy Jarvis, now played by Thom Matthews, accidentally resurrects Jason when he impales the killer's corpse with a metal pole during a lightning-storm. Numerous murders follow, beginning with Tommy's friend (Ron Palillo) having his heart torn out of his chest by the zombie killer. Implicated in the crimes by a mean-spirited sheriff (David Kagen), Tommy is freed from jail by the sheriff's daughter, spunky Megan (Jennifer Cooke). The cast converges on Camp Crystal Lake, which has been renamed "Camp Forest Green" by superstitious locals, in time for Tommy to send Jason back to the bottom of the lake, if only temporarily. Harry Manfredini's score is among his best, and the makeup by Martin Becker, Gabe Bartalos, R. Chris Biggs and others is outstanding. Cooke makes an appealing heroine as Megan, although Mathews' Tommy has lost the interesting mental disturbances of previous entries and becomes just another bland hero. Tom McLoughlin's direction is effective, and the film has a memorably funny supporting turn by Bob Larkin as a grumpy drunken caretaker. Alice Cooper sings the title song, "He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask)". Although no classic, this is a solid horror film with a witty script and engaging characters.

3-0 out of 5 stars 'Friday the 13th' enters the self-satire zone...
Uh-oh-- looks like the 'Friday the 13th' franchise decided to take a more comedic turn here, more than likely in response to the darkly humorous mayhem of 'Friday's' greatest rival pop-horror phenomenon, the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' series. From the James Bond tribute in the opening credits to the Frankenstein-like reanimation of our fave slasher to the characters spouting some of the hokiest lines I've ever heard uttered in a 'Friday' flick so far, there was no way I was gonna take this load o' celluloid silliness seriously. Especially after our fave psycho's encounter with a group of paintballers. 'Course, I'd pretty much given up on taking any of 'em seriously after Part 2... but this I really Really REALLY can't take seriously! Ya know?

Adding to the cheese factor were the usual array of Jason-kills, many of which were ridiculously over-the-top and just plain unbelievable, I didn't really find 'em all that scary. Somewhat gruesome at times, but nothing all that frightful. Oh yeah, let's not forget the usual staples of Jason takin' out a buncha teenage camp counselors (including a few who invoke the 'Friday' franchise laws of Sex=Death and Pot=Death), And an ending that suggests that, in spite of his apparent 'death', out beloved psycho goalie ain't quite through yet (surprise, surprise)...

All in all, I found this go-round fairly fun to watch for the silly dialogue and overdone Jason shenanigans. So long as it's not taken seriously, it's a more than passable piece of entertainment.

2-0 out of 5 stars Better than you'd think...(** 1/2 stars...).
I skipped part 5 and went right to this one after hearing good things. "Jason Lives" is actually pretty good for a "Friday the 13th" sequel. It's "bulky", meaning that thier was substance to it, and not just kill, kill, kill from begining to end. The "main girl", traditional to slasher pics, was more interesting than most in other movies of this sort. And we actually get to see kids at the camp this time; If you recall, in parts 1 and 2 we only get to see people preparing for kids to go to the camp. And it didn't seem to fly right by like others in the series did. Reccomended!!

5-0 out of 5 stars "One Good Movie"!
I loved this movie from beginning to end. Marc Singer made this movie so interesting in my opinion. I haven't seen a movie of this genre since "Fatal Attraction" (which was just as awesome).

5-0 out of 5 stars Marc Singer RULES!
This a great movie not only because Marc Singer is in it, but is very well done. Don't be put off by similarities to Fatal Attraction...it is in some ways better. Plus Marc shows his behind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marc Singer vs. Michael Douglas!!
First off everyone should watch this movie for one reason alone! Marc Singer! This guy was the Beastmaster...THE BEASTMASTER!! Not to mention staring in tons of great soft core Cinemax at night style movies. Don't stop with this movie. Watch Street Corner Justice, Cyberzone, Deep Space, etc. The list goes on and on. This movie right here is pure genius. Leonard Maltin refers to it as a Fatal Attraction clone but in reality this movie was filmed prior to Fatal Attraction. It just took longer to get released because it lacked the mega-starpower that Fatal Attraction had. Not to mention this is far superior. Marc Singer is ten times tougher than Michael Douglas. And with lines like "I didn't want anything serious, but you do. You want to get beaten up." it's clear that the scriptwriter was a absolute genious. I cannot say enough of how great this movie really is. Please do yourself a huge favor and pick this screen gem up immediately.

5-0 out of 5 stars HOT, HOT< HOT
Lisa Pescia should be famous. She's made an appearance or 2 on Seinfeld, but she's got the goods. Like Leonard Maltin said, not bad for a low-budget ripoff. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Pure Rocky Road Trash! It doesn't deserve a star!
I can't believe I watched the whole thing! This is a HUGE load of pants! It's so bad it's on my top ten list of worst movies of all time.Joe Lara is a great actor but he was COMPLETELY wasted! Every other actor was just plain awful. They were reduced to such garbage. The script and storyline are seriously PADDED! And Joe looked like a major fag in that white leotard.I must admit that the FX were decent, but the film is sooooooooooo terrible. It's as boring as hell and is so heinous that it's laughable. The makers of this movie should go to a maximum security facility and a million dollar fine! The film is far too gory and the body count is WAY too high. What a pathetic waste! Rated R-contains gruesome, gory violence, strong profanity and a scene of strong sexuality.

1-0 out of 5 stars A waste!
Shame on Joe for wasting his fabulous talent in this movie!Decoda was undeveloped, and not the brightest. As a cop, he should've done his job not beg permission to dispatch Slash from Jamison who was a total idiot.Only after being hologrammed did Decoda get the job done when he could've taken care of him much sooner! The fight scenes and seeing Joe in a beard changing his look made this movie barely palatable. He looked horrid in that white leatard because white is just not his color and it was just too tight in certain places. The only redeeming quality was his destroying Slash which in my opinion took too darn long. How dare Evan Lurie give his character substance and leave the others to suffer. Evan Lurie who wrote this movie should've given himself a ticket! ... Read more
