4-0 out of 5 stars This Show Should have Complete Seasons On DVD!
I was 13 when Mork and Mindy originally came on TV and I thought it was a cute show and funny too. I remember that stores were selling suspenders just like Mork's and a lot of kids were wearing them to school. Robin Williams was hilarious and adorable as alien from outerspace Mork and Pam Dawber was great as Mindy the young woman who finds him and lets him stay in her apartment. I also thought Conrad Janis was great as Mindy's father and so was the actress who played Mindy's grandma. This may not have been the best sitcom of all time and isn't quite as good as classics like I Love Lucy, Taxi or The Mary Tyler Moore Show but Mork and Mindy was a cute show with enjoyable episodes and I want to see it released in complete season DVD boxsets!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mork And Mindy
I'm 13 years old and I wasn't even around when Mork And Mindy came to telvision and as soon as i heard about the show i got a video of vol.1. When I finished watching the video I was so impressed by the acting of Robin Williams, and I was because Robin Williams is my favorite actor. In vol.1 the eposides that are on there are the fist eposide which is "Mork Moves In" and the 7th eposide witch is "Mork Goes Public". In the first eposide on the tape it's about how Mork comes to Earth and meets Mindy lives with her, but Mindy's farther does not want Mork to live with her. Will Mork stay on Earth? In the 2nd eposide a reporter is looking for an alien to put in his magzine, so Mindy tries to hid Mork from him. Will Mork be gone for good?

3-0 out of 5 stars So, So Video Quality
The show "Mork & Mindy" is a pretty good show. Pam Dawber, Robin Williams, and Elizabeth Kerr were great in it.

But the video quality [is quite poor]! It is recorded in SLP/EP mode. Now, this is okay for shows that are released in black and white, but not for shows in color. The image looks like it was recorded off TV, and the episodes were the standard cut versions that were shown on Nick at Nite from 1991-1995, and the now dead FOX Family Channel. They could've either:

A: Included more episodes for our money, or
B: Have Taped it in SP Mode if They Only Wanted Two Episodes On It

I think another company other then Paramount Video should release "Mork & Mindy" and it's sister series, "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley"

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent

4-0 out of 5 stars Should Be on DVD (Widescreen)
I remember my Mom taking me to see this movie, I was about 11 year old and I thought this was such a cute, funny movie and there were several scenes that had everyone in the theater lauging out loud. I know the professional critics gave this movie awful reviews when it was released but there sure seemed to be a lot of people in the theater who were really enjoying watching The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox and I think George Segal was great and so was Goldie Hawn as the ditzy heroine. This is one of the best westerns/comedies I have ever seen and I wish they would put this movie out on DVD (widescreen)

5-0 out of 5 stars a classic goldie moment
I first saw this film when i was around 7 back in the 80s and i fell in love with it then, nearly 15 years later it is still amazing. Funny, fanastic, one of goldie's best! Shame its not on dvd!!!!
This is a must see for any goldie fan or any comedy fan, easy to get humour, both dirty and clever.
A MUST!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars UNFORGETTABLE
Another of Goldie Hawn's classics! It's the story of a conman and a prostitute thrown together by the hand of fate, and their hilarious partnership. The best scene is where Goldie auditions for the job of governess to a religious family, and she must give a demonstration of her musical skills. The only song that is suitable for the circumstances, is a number she used to perform in the brothel: "Please don't touch my plums" and she does a magnificent job of impressing the pater familias and tickling the viewer's funnybone. The Duchess is a pearl in Goldie's crown.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Awsome Classic !!!!
This movie is so funny!!! Any one who likes, or loves Goldie will simply LOVE this movie!!! I collect vhs (soon to be dvd) classic movies and this one has been a real bear to get ahold of. Anyway, I love it and I hope someone will read this and get the movie too. I promis they won't be dissapointed. Also, if anyone has ever seen The First Wives Club, they show a "tiny" pic of Goldie in her saloon outfit, next to her phone, and answering machine as "Brenda" is leaving her a message. That was only for the GREAT Goldie fans to notice.

3-0 out of 5 stars Quality...Tsk, Tsk
First of all, the episodes on this volume were great. It's the quality that upsets me. The first episode ("Mork's First Christmas") was in pretty good condition, but the second episode ("Mork Goes Erk") was in REALLY bad condition! I'd rather get these episodes from someone who taped them off Nick at Nite or from the Canadian Comedy Channel.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST BUY IN AGES!
Williams is a comic genius. He may own an Oscar for Good Will Hunting, but Mork is still by far his best work. Mork and Mindy perfectly captures the raw, unpredictable and exceptional comic talent which is purely Williams' own. The two episodes on this video are two of the best episodes from all four years of this heart-warming, side-splitting and award-winning comedy. I would strongly reccommend this video, and all other three volumes, to anyone who likes to laugh. It's one of the best purchases I have made in a long time! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Problaly the most dramatic episodes in the series
When I was little I was a HUGE fanatic of the series (okay I still am, but that's not the point here) These two episodes showcase some of the best dramatic (and we are talking serious acting) from Williams and Dawber.

In the first one, Mindy discovers she has a major case of represed grief after learning her father is remarrying. Mindy's nightmare flash back scared the living daylights out of me when I was little, and it is still very sobering.

The second episode is more typical except at the end when Mork, lamenting celebrity, rattles off a list of famous people who died too young. Although Williams is a master actor, you can tell he slips out of character for a moment when he ads John Lennon with a crack in his voice. Imediately followed by silence (as opposed to the usual gag-signing off, it too is very sobering. Even those too young to remember John Lennon will know the signifigance of the change in plot.

5-0 out of 5 stars God in the 20th century
I absolutely love this movie! One night when I was bored flipping the channels I found this movie and I am so glad that I did. It was a really creative twist on faith. A little girl thinks that God is telling her to post signs in her school saying "think God" and the whole rest goes from there. It is adorable, very creative and inspirational especially for people of faith; although it would cause some thinking in nonbelievers. The little girl is so cute and reminds me of myself when I was little. It's kind of funny how a little child was able to believe when the adults wouldn't. George Burns makes a great God in this movie. I'm going to make sure I own a copy of this movie. Make sure you watch it. The ending is really sweet. Also check out the first edition "Oh God" and Oh God, you Devil".

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute For Little Kids But Boring For Adults!
I saw the movie Oh, God! Book II when I was a young girl and I loved it, I thought it was a very funny and cute story, I saw the movie again a while ago and though I still think it's a cute little movie I thought it was a bit boring and I had a hard time concentrating on the movie. In the movie God played by George Burns appears to a little girl named Tracey and with her Father being in the ad business she decides to start an ad campaign to spread the word, but all the adults including her parents think she's lost her marbles and she has to prove that she hasn't lost touch with reality. I thought then and still think that the actress named Louanne who played Tracey was adorable. I think it's a movie that children will probably like to watch but adults might be a little bored with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Another Ungodly Sequel
George Burns reprises his role of the Almighty in "Oh God! Book II", a 1980 sequel to the popular "Oh, God". Burns was great as an incarnation of the Deity in "Oh, God!" and with good direction by Carl Reiner, the movie was also good. He's still good in "Book II", yet the movie isn't.

Part of the problem is they didn't come up with a distinct and original story, a departure from what we got in the first film. The cover for the video reads "That's right, I made another movie," yet as far as I can see this is not another movie, but pretty much the same movie. It does (except for Burns) have different characters and therefore different situations, but from beginning to end "Book II" is all too similar to its predecessor.

Like its predecessor, the sequel has God coming back for the same reasons. "They are still not thinking about me," he says. "People have to be reminded I'm still around." This time, he chooses a young girl named Tracy (played by a where-is-she-now actress who just went by "Louanne") and like the late John Denver in the original, she is surprised when she gets a message to meet God. Also like Denver, she thinks it's a practical joke when she hears Burns' voice at the meeting place. But alas, like the first movie, she comes to believe and wants to get his message across.

Tracy's father (David Birney) is in advertising, so she tries to figure out a way to advertise God (as Denver did), finally coming up with the brilliant slogan "Think God". She then organizes a group of her fellow students in the school auditorium (how would be a good question) and proposes her plan to post signs and write "Think God" wherever they can.

Soon some kids can be seen crossing out some graffiti that says "Grass is good for you" to write "Think God". Later, Tracy's mother (Suzanne Pleshette) rationalizes to the school principal that "kids are going to write things on walls anyway, why not 'Think God'?" (What a dumb line. "Think God" is just as much graffiti as "Grass is good for you.")

Anyway, the similarity between the two films goes on right to the very end. I won't tell you the climax, but it's about as close as they could get within the context of the different characters. The denouement is also pretty much the same.

I liked "Oh, God!" but I can't recommend this sequel (reproduction) with its plastic characters and cutesy situations. George Burns is the standout, yet even he is just repeating his original good performance. They even have him spouting the same mistakes-of-nature type jokes. Warner Brothers really took the easy way out. They stayed with something that worked, and they played it safe. Don't fall for it. ... Read more

I can't imagine Chuck Southcott having anything to do with an 'R' rated film. He knows the stars and officialdom of the movie industry so, in this film, you will get to see the person behind the 'voice.' Like Feinstein for music, Chuck is the best there is for narration and radio.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Disaster Film Classic but bad acting
I recently bought the Airport Terminal pack for myself because I always had a passion for disaster films. Before I bought the terminal pack, I wanted to see if I could rent the Airport sequels at the VHS store, they didn't have them, when I finally bought the terminal and when I saw Airport 75, I thought it was a classic for a disaster film, but for acting i though it was a joke, in the entire film, from the beginning and to the end, Karen Black who plays the Head Stewdess on a Boeing 747 that collides with a small private plane during flight looks like she has her eyes crossed, now that was hiliarious! Her acting was just as bad, it became even worse when she had to take instructins for Al Murdock ( Charlston Heston) to fly the plane, that scene was really painful to watch, and one other thing to, the man who was flying the small private who eventually crashed into Flight #409 looked like he was having a heart attack when he lost control, before that happened, if he did have a heart attack then why didn't the movie tell anything about heart problems, I guess that was just to add excitment to the movie. All in All the movie was good, the acting was a joke, esepically Karen Black's acting!

4-0 out of 5 stars Best of the bunch
My personal favourite of all the Airport movies, Airport 1975 is a camp classic. Right from the opening credits I am whisked away to the 70's and the familiar feeling of snuggling up at the drive-in....I can almost smell the thermos coffee. Airport 1975 doesn't take itself too seriously, yet all the characters play it straight. With a cast that reads like a guest list for a post Oscars party this movie seems to be full of cliches, yet it was this movie that started the said cliches, which I suppose debunks that theory. This is the movie that Airplane (aka Flying High) stuck closest too. With the sick child (Linda Blair), singing nun (Helen Reddy) and commitmentphobe pilot (Charlton Heston) all represented in the direct spoof. The movie however belongs to Karen Black, the poor old flight attendant. The plane is rendered pilotless when a midair collision with a small plane collides with the cockpit. Ms Black then has to take control of the 747 with no experience in flying whatsoever. Entertaining and hilarious.
I was disappointed however in the DVD which was very light on features. I would have loved to see a trailer, a commentary or better yet, a feature on all four Airport movies, but alas, it was not to be. I had to settle for a filmography on the top 2 stars only and that was it.
If you want a blast from the past, or are just fond of the disaster flicks churned out in the 1970's I would heartily recommend Airport 1975.

4-0 out of 5 stars Buy this version unless they remaster the Terminal Pack...
I won't comment on the film or the acting; it's hard to take any Airport film seriously after Airplane! skewered the genre.

However, if you appreciate the film for what it is, fun entertainment, this is certainly one of the better in the 70's disaster film genre and the special effects have held up well over the years.

If you're interested in this film, I strongly urge you to buy this copy instead of or in addition to the Airport Terminal Pack; there is a mastering error that does not fully expand the film horizontally in that collection, with the result that objects are somewhat compressed horizontally from their true proportions. Another reviewer's references to "tire ovals" and "stick people" is a bit of an exaggeration, but you'll wonder why the plane is so short and stubby and why the airport's pickup trucks look as if they have 4' beds. :-)

In short, another mastering error on Universal's part and, frankly, a somewhat better transfer on GoodTimes' part make THIS the better transfer of Airport 1975...

2-0 out of 5 stars Superfluous from Beginning to End
I first watched this movie on NBC back in April 1977. Though edited to make it fit its two hour timeslot and allow room for commercials, I later purchased the video from Goodtimes Video to watch the parts not shown by NBC. From the beginning of the movie shot at Dulles Airport in northern Virginia, the cast who star as the crew and passengers aboard Columbia Airlines flight 409, board a Boeing 747-123 (on loan from American Airlines) and it is typical Hollywood overacting, particularly the passengers. Some of the crew, especially Erik Estrada, who plays flight engineer Julio, does quite a bit of womanizing with one of the stewardesses. I've flown a lot during my lifetime, even aboard 747s, and have never heard so much redundancy as depicted in this movie. The sound effects were a little primitive from the Boeing 747 sounding like a Boeing 707 on take-off down to the telephone gongs that are the same ones used on the beginning of the "Rockford Files". This was in the days before George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic came into the vogue. By the way, his film "American Graffiti" was the inflight movie. Some faults are present in the film. The private pilot (Dana Andrews) identifies his plane as "two-three-two-zulu" instead of the correct identitication: N9750Y. Another fault was at the time the stricken 747 lands at Salt Lake City and runs out of runway before Charlton Heston has to turn the nose tiller to make the plane go left at a high rate of speed. Here, we see the passengers get thrown to the left instead of to the right. Another fault we see is that the passengers are catching a glimpse of the daring midair transfer. In reality it would be difficult for anyone to see such an operation. If you were to watch the movie more than once, you could see all these errors.

3-0 out of 5 stars Better transfer than the "Terminal Pack" transfer
As hard as it may be to believe, this being a "Good Times" release, the transfer on this DVD is better than that included in the "Terminal Pack". Yes, the "Terminal Pack" transfer is anamorphic, and this one has SLIGHTLY more grain....but this transfer is in the correct proportion. Tires are round and the actors don't look like stick people.

My recommendation...buy this disk to supplement your "Terminal Pack". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Bizzare
Mork and Mindy was a favirote show of mine in the early 80's. Like Teen Wolf, it acknowlleged that being different was cool (added plus, I was living in Colorado)and desirable. I would be able to end up with a partner despite my differences.

This video showcases Willams different characters and Mork's early attempt at romance. It is quintessentially Robin Williams at his nuttyness and funniest. Combined, the two episodes make a fail-safe pick up on your bluest days.

Although M&M are still in their platonic stages at this point, there is a developing attraction. While the flirting is subtler than many today's sitcoms, it is still detectable. Devoted fans of the show (such as moi) know what will eventually happen, but find the subtext absolutely delicious ... Read more

Rock historians and hard-core Buddy Holly fans can and do take issue with director Steve Rash's 1978 biopic of the Lubbock, Texas, rocker's life: the script liberally juggles details from Holly's brief but blazing career, replacing producer Norman Petty and Holly's original bassist and drummer with fictionalized composite characters. Yet the core of the film, and the reason it's definitely worth a look and listen, is Gary Busey's lusty performance in the title role, triumphing against what might have seemed miscasting.

The burly, lantern-jawed Busey steps into the lankier, narrow-faced Holly's blue suede shoes and dances off with the movie. At a time when live rock albums thought little of overdubbing mistakes in the studio, director Rash honored Busey's nervy gamble in performing these songs live, singing in his own raw voice and rumbling through his own approximations of Holly's guitar work. What's lost in precise verisimilitude is more than compensated by Busey's conviction and a palpable, almost ecstatic terror as he charges through Holly's wonderful songs before indifferent roller-rink audiences.

Other films have nailed the period more accurately through art direction or script, but Busey's authentic energy gives this movie an emotional veracity that's just right for this chapter in rock history. Still, for musical purposes, go straight to the source, Holly's wonderful recordings.--Sam Sutherland ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Welcome to the world of Buddy Holly
The Buddy Holly Story starring Gary Busey should not be taken as a historical document. Nor do I believe it ever set out to be. What has been created is a film which gives the feel and atmosphere of Buddy Holly, his music and the USA of the day. To have been completely factual would have most probably killed the film with legal challenges and suppression. The Crickets leaving Buddy to side with Norman Petty in the split leading to the final tour and the bitter disappointment this must have caused Buddy, the actual split itself with Petty and the resultant financial complications, these happenings are really not the sort of thing to air in a movie to celebrate the life and music of one of the founders of Rock.

Instead Gary Busey has strapped on a Fender and in effect becomes Buddy Holly. The rhythm and beat, the frantic excitement, the sheer enjoyment of the music, it is all there. We actually get to experience a timeslice of a period some of us recall fondly and others would like to share. A wonderful reminder of good music for us oldies or a enjoyable introduction to a legend for others, a Rock'n'Roll legend quoted by The Beatles and a number of other major musical identities as a major influence in their music.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not history, but it is the authentic feel of the music

One of the lesser known items about this film and the making thereof is that Gary Busey actually formed a band and toured up and down the west coast of the USA before the making of it to provide himself with the feel and practice of performing Buddy Holly songs before an audience. He actually played and sang the songs in the film rather than lip-sync Buddy's records to provide some authentic feel to the whole thing - good on yer Gary !

5-0 out of 5 stars Gary Busey brings Buddy Holly to life!
I'm a huge fan of Gary Busey, who may not be a "star" but is nevertheless a great actor. This is by far his best performance, & I feel he deserved the best actor oscar more than Jon Voight (who won for Coming Home). Few people know that Busey was a musician before he was an actor, so in this awesome musical biography of Buddy Holly we get to see just how talented he is. The film is mostly factual, although some screen characters are actually composites of two or more people. The energy in Busey's performance is what makes this a winner. Not only did he sing, he did it while being filmed live! That's what gives this such a realistic look to it & it's why this stands out among the other musical biographies as one of the best. There was also a lot of unscripted dialogue that makes this even more entertaining. The best thing about the dvd is the hilarious & very informative commentary from the director Steve Rash & Gary Busey, which is almost as good as the film itself! This is an excellent tribute to a lengendary rock & roll icon & it won an oscar for best score adaptation. Do yourself a favor, add this great film to your collection!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Must Have Movie!
I think this is a fantastic movie. Gary Busey did an excellent job portraying Buddy Holly. Though I am aware that not every detail of this movie is 100% factual, it still makes the audience love and care about Buddy and his music. This movie is truly a must for any music fan.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not The Real Buddy Holly Story
This movie does not in any way portray the real Buddy Holly. It contains several inaccuracies, and, to me, Gary Busey is miscast as Buddy Holly. I have read several books on Buddy Holly in addition to having the video "The Real Buddy Holly" hosted by former Beatle Paul McCartney and the Biography video of Buddy Holly, and this movie doesn't do justice to the Buddy Holly we all loved and enjoyed. If you're looking for an entertaining movie and not concerned with accuracy then, I supppose, you will enjoy the movie. However, if you want the real Buddy Holly story you'll have to look elsewhere. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Im not sure what I just saw!
This movie was a story about a woman who breaks up with her fiance and finds herself in an American city sleeping with many different men. She deciedes instead of doing it for free she should start charging for her services. She eventually becomes a madame and ends up in jail. This is the basis premise for the movie. There is not much else to this movie. I found it to be funny. It was not meant to be a comedy. I think it was made in the seventies. It has all sorts of cheese ball outfits. It is the perfect stereotype of a bad 1970 era movie. The style reminds me of Shaft. ... Read more

Don't fall for it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars a decent television movie.
Farrah Fawcett and Beau Bridges are teamed up together one a high class call girl, the other an undercover L.A. detective, who realize that in order to catch a crime boss, they will have to work together running an upper class prostitution penthouse on the crime boss' turf. Both characters come from different backgrounds and have a lack of respect for the other. She hates cops, He thinks that she is just a lady of the night. However, as much as they do not want to work together they need to in order to have the necessary means to catch the bad guy. As the movie progresses both Characters start to develop a bond for each other and by the end of the movie they realize that they may just be finding themselves in love. Fawcett is excellent in the role, and displays the right amount of attitude as a high class call girl. Bridges is only adequate as the detective, he does not display a real tough exterior that is needed in the role, and that is why I give it only a 3 star rating. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Hear the best voice on the radio...
I can't imagine Chuck Southcott having anything to do with an 'R' rated film. He knows the stars and officialdom of the movie industry so, in this film, you will get to see the person behind the 'voice.' Like Feinstein for music, Chuck is the best there is for narration and radio.
