Description

It's a big business battle for the top when a Senator's son and the chairman's daughter decide to take on the twisted, back-stabbing world of corporate decision making. Ruthless, merciless - and sometimes clothe-less - it's every man or woman for themselves in the fight to make it all the way up the corporate ladder to the HEAD OFFICE. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Must viewing for corporate America. Funnnnnny!
This movie will hit a funny nerve with any person who is working or has any dealings with corporate America. This satirical look at big business will be veiwed many times.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE true look into the bowels of Corporate America !!!
A movie for the ages! An all-star cast that provides a dry, satirical look into what we all despise and yet tolerate in Corporate America. From lines like "the company giveth, the company taketh away..." to "...do you think I got to the head of this division because I'm a moron? NO! I got to the head of this division because...I...I...I'm NOT a moron". Truly a movie that did not get the ratings it deserved. It definitely rivals the likes of Blazing Saddles, Stripes, Trading Places, Caddy Shack, Spies Like Us, Fletch, etc. A must see if you've ever been employed by a company of 100 employees or more!

5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless Corporate Humor
I watched and bought it 10 years, or so, ago. It's a keeper, but, I lost my copy. Now it is rare, but I found it again! Buy it if you can...I just did. The words below from another reviewer ring so TRUE!

"This movie has so many funny lines and situations. If more people were aware of it, it would surely become a cult classic. So check it out and pass the word."

3-0 out of 5 stars I got Abba. You like Abba?
This movie is truly funny at times. I haven't seen it in a while, but I remember my impression of it being a little bit mixed. A very uneven film, but perhaps this trait befits the coke-addled eighties.
It may also be the case, as some reviewers have suggested, that the movie could withstand and even benefit from repeated viewings. Damn funny movie at times, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars head office
A cult favorite and my personal guilty pleasure. Richard Masur and Don Novello (famous as Father Guido Sarducci on SNL) are but two of the cast of characters that make this movie hilarious. Eddie Albert is fabulous as the CEO of INC who keeps in touch with the people by personally reviewing whose phone service should be disconnected for overdue bills. Don King steals the movie with his speech to the board of the directors. This is one of my all time favorite comedies. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Scary!
This film is definately one of the scariest movies ever made. It is much better than most of the movies in the genre. I would recommend this to anyone who liked Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Exorcist, or The Amityville Horror! Rent or Buy this movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHOA!!!!
This was a whopper of a scary movie. Okay not the greatest acting from the children but hey I'm not complaining. Released at the same time Friday the 13th and The Shining, this one was kind of left out. It's much scarier than Friday the 13th and was actually released before Friday the 13th. See this. This is for fans of The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror, Halloween, and just horror fans in general.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Boogeyman!!!
I thought this film was very scary, and I like other viewers feel that it isn't getting the attention it deserves. It's not "just another slasher" it is one of a kind. It's kindof a mix between The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror, and Halloween. Why it has been neglected so much, beats me. I enjoyed it. Some acting is a little cheesy, but you can get through it. I recommend watching this alone in the dark. Have fun. Get scared.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!!!
This is such a neglected film, it's unbelievable. This was releasesd the smae year as Friday the 13th, The Shining, and Dressed to Kill, and yet it was still neglected. Sure some of the acting is a little hokey, but nothing unbearable. To get scared in this movie, you do have to take it seriously and WATCH IT ALONE IN THE DARK! Hope you enjoy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Frightening!
This movie is very scary in my opinion. It was released the same year as Friday the 13th, Empire Strikes Back, The Shining, and Dressed to Kill. This is better than Friday the 13th, but I think both films are really scary. This is different than most of the movies in the genre. It's like The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror, and Halloween all in one. It is brilliant. I recomend this movie to anyone in need of a great scare. Buy or rent this today! ... Read more

Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis created their popular toque-wearing, beer-swigging "Great White North" hosers Bob and Doug McKenzie on the great TV comedy show SCTV to fulfill a Canadian broadcasting regulation that required Canadian shows to have a certain amount of "Canadian content." Bob and Doug became so popular that they made a hit record (Take Off, with Geddy Lee, nasalist with the Canadian rock band Rush) and this Major Motion Picture--filmed in "Hoserama." Bob and Doug are the Cheech and Chong of beer, so the plot involves the boys's attempt to scam a free case of Elsinore beer from the brewery, which is run by a mad scientist Brewmeister Smith (Max von Sydow), who wants to rule the world, like all mad scientists do. Strange Brew's intoxicating blend of hops and malt--er ... cleverness and silliness--earned it a loyal and well-deserved cult following. --Jim Emerson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beauty movie, eh?
I saw this movie in the theatre when I was a teenager, and I don't think I had ever laughed so hard in my life...the first fifteen minutes of this movie alone is absolutely unsurpassed in comedic cinema history.
>
Having said that, I realize that watching a movie when you're 15 and then watching the same movie when you're 35 can be two totally different experiences (this was REALLY driven home when I saw "Purple Rain" awhile back for the first time since high school...man, what was I THINKING?!). All the same, this movie is still funny as hell, and it still compares favorably with similar movies made these days; if you liked "Dude, Where's My Car?", you'll probably think this movie's a lot better (think of it as "Dude, Where's My Beer?").
>
The DVD presentation isn't as bare bones as I had initially feared (even though a Rick Moranis/Dave Thomas commentary track in character a la The Hanson Brothers on the most recent DVD re-issue of "Slap Shot" would've been a nice touch); the SCTV skit reminds you of why these guys caught on so well and achieved their cult following, and the animated bit is okay (if "Clerks" could go animated, why not the McKenzie Brothers?).
>
This is definitely a comedy "must-have", and I recommend basing a "Canadian Culture Night" party around this movie, with "Slap Shot" following it as a deserving chaser.
>
Cheers, eh?!

4-0 out of 5 stars Welcome to the Great White North, eh?
In 1983, Bob and Doug McKenzie (Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas -- but not the Dave Thomas from Wendy's) introduced the world to the mysterious land of Canada -- a place overflowing with beer and donuts. A place where everyone wears flannel and toques while they're playing hockey. A place where they use words like "hoser" and "eh."

When Bob and Doug try to scam the Elsinore brewery out of a free case of beer, they end up with jobs instead. There, they get stumble upon Brewmeister Smith (Max von Sydow), who's planning to take over the beer-drinking world with his mind-altering chemicals.

At the beginning of Strange Brew, the brothers announce that their movie was filmed in 3-B -- "Three beers and it looks good." I'd say that's pretty accurate. Strange Brew is a fabulously brainless movie -- full of bad jokes, bad acting, and bad effects. It's a must-see for any college student -- preferably after a long night of drinking. But if you're sober, be warned that it takes a special sense of humor to enjoy this one. Those with that special sense of humor, however (you know who you are), will love this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Burps
A magnificent achievement - ranks up there with Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, Lawrence of Arabia, Blues Brothers, and Monty Python's Holy Grail and Life of Brian.

But Strange Brew is better - cos it's about Beer! Right on eh! And if any of you Hosers out there don't like it, TAKE OFF EH!

3-0 out of 5 stars Funny despite holes.
This DVD is a "must have" for those of us who loved SCTV. However, it's definately not for those who aren't. It's not that this isn't a funny and entertaining movie, it is. It's just that it's not a "standout" comedy. The core of the film, ie; characters, production, story are all there, but unfortunately many of the details are done halfa**ed. There are several parts of the story that don't tie together well, and certain scenes that either should have played out more or simply didn't fit.

The DVD production is also a disappointment. I agree with a previous reviewer in that the lack of commentary from Rick and/or Dave is unforgivable. Still, this is certainly a movie worth renting or watching on T.V.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great movie should have great DVD

4-0 out of 5 stars Please release on DVD!
I remember this first series of Ewok cartoons way back when I was in kindergarten in 1985 and I loved them. The series was smart and mythological with some serious themes interwoven throughout to make it worthwhile. Paul Dini, of Batman the animated series fame, even wrote and/or produced almost every episode. The Ewoks' spirit trees, the new characterizations of Wicket and his friends, the witch that always fought master Logray, and the Duloks made the first 13 episodes better than the two live-action Ewok movies at the time. They really delve into the culture of the Ewoks that combines elements of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and The Dark Chrystal. While the first season was slightly dark(but not too dark for kids) the second season was pretty poor in quality and reeeally cartoony to appeal to kids more. Even at the time it felt like it was insulting my intelligence. Anyway, I would love to see this first season released on DVD.

2. The Haunted Village
3. Rampage of the Phlogs
4. To Save Deej
5. The Traveling Jindas

It captures the fun spirit of Star Wars that the new movies lack, and it's great for kids and kids at heart.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for all you Star Wars Fans out Their
Star Wars all together is excellent and this specific cartoon series is a great way to spend family time together. It also is a way for the new generation to experience the vast Star Wars galaxy. I watched it as a kid and it what got me started on my way to become a great fan! The movie is very interesting becuase it shows those furry ewoks George Lucas created not as primitive life forms to be looked at like animals but as small creatures very much like us in the way they feel, think, and live. It expands on much of what Mr. Lucas created and it is a must for any fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for children +
This is a wonderful video for so many reasons. 1st of all, it's the closest fans can get to the magical cartoon of the mid-80's. Unfortunately, the whole series (both EWOK seasons) are not out on DVD...yet. 2nd of all, it's fun for the whole family. One of the more innocent cartoons, it stresses family & friend bonds while exploring the best planet of the STAR WARS series. Wicket & friends get into more escapades in this conglomeration of 4 original Ewok adventures than the 2 live-action films combined. It harkens many native legends as well as emphasizing the conflict for good & evil. It combines STAR WARS & hints of LORD OF THE RINGS. Also, the Duloks (evil cousins of the Ewoks) are some of the best characters ever developed for the immortal saga.
There is nothing not to like about this video, except that it does not use the original music from the series. The music made for it isn't half bad though. Enjoy it with your kids & let it take you back to 1985 & a sweet age of innocence.

5-0 out of 5 stars SEnsational!
I love this movie. I literally watch this film 4 or 5 times a day! This is a special spinoff of the cheeky little characters from Return Of The Jedi. It will make you laugh and cry at the same time! I also got a little scared when the ewoks went into the haunted village.

2-0 out of 5 stars Scary Magical Ewoks
This cartoon focuses on Ewoks and their magic. It is more fantasy than Sci Fi. I found the episodes which are strung together without separate titles hard to follow and a bit inane. I think Lucasfilm could do better in the Star Wars universe. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Caveat Emptor
I thought I was watching a special feature when I started this movie, and was surprised that it was the feature. This is not a sequel, this is one of the worst DVDs of all time. Thankfully, I only rented it and am only out the rental cost. Everybody, be warned, you barely see anything of the actual Boogeyman sequel, just scenes in fast motion. There should be some kind of law because this DVD is slickly packaged and is a complete and total rip-off. Everybody involved with the making of this DVD should feel ashamed. Those who bought it deserve their money back.

1-0 out of 5 stars " YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED "
If i could give this a 0 i would, i'm not even going to review in full as everyone else has already done so.

All you need to know is that it is just a ripp off with old footage from the 1st movie.

DO NOT PURCHASE.

1-0 out of 5 stars BOOGEYMAN 2 IS A RIP OFF!
I got all excited when I saw this DVD sitting on the shelf so I picked it up and read the back of it. I figured that since I had Part 1 that I would add this to my collection. What a rip off! All this movie is is Part 1 with the stupid director-in home video form-talking, trying to convince you that Part 1 was based on a true story. You can even see him smiling while he is trying to act serious. I think he knew that he probably screwed alot of people out of their money because when I tried to take this back for a refund I was told that since it was unwrapped that I could not return it. Well Ulli, or whatever the hell this so called directors name is, here some advice-read up on FALSE ADVERTISEMENT LAWS because I have a feeling that after this crappy stunt you might be getting into some trouble.

1-0 out of 5 stars Confusing Mess
This is not the original Boogeyman 2, but rather a 'redux' version of the first Boogeyman. It is a very confusing 'Director's cut' that interjects scenes of the director being 'questioned' about the second film's murders. All of it is very confusing and for the most part it is only the original Boogeyman movie with fast motion gore scenes from part 2 put in. I loved the original Boogeyman2, and although blasted by fans as terrible(so okay, it was'nt all their)i thought it at least an interesting take. Mr. Lomell the director claimed he hates horror movies and is mostly an arthouse director. But their was gold in them horror films so the result was the cool 'Boogeyman', a great low budget horror. Boogeyman 2 he claims was forced on him by many who wanted a sequel. So the result was an odd quirky semi-autobiographical thing with the director playing himself(an Arthouse filmmaker) But Lomell seems to really want to bury Boogeman2, and it shows with this unbelievable dvd redux version. In it he is read his rights and questioned over part 2's bizarre murders. We see the original Boogeyman film play in it's entirity intercut with his being questioned by the authorities...but then also intercut are the gore scenes from Boogeyman2 in fast motion style. Honestly it's all very confusing and more strange then the original Boogeyman2. So if your like me and a diehard horror completist, then you might find interest in this. Or if you don't have a copy of the first Boogeyman, you might want to get it for that reason alone. BUT if your not into the experimental stuff or movies messed around with after the fact, then i really can't recommend this version at all. By the way i wonder if this whole dvd production is a joke in itself. Their are trailer/clips for future Boogeyman films that bogle the mind. For example Boogeyman 5 looks like an extreme cornpone version of 'Close encounters of the third kind'...go figure.

1-0 out of 5 stars Boogeyman 2 is NOT Boogeyman II - Don't buy it
If you're buying this thinking that you are getting the sequel to Boogeyman, you're wrong!!! This is the original Boogeyman with scenes cut, the director's irrelevant babblings interjected between scenes and an occasional clip from Boogeyman II(in fast-forward mode). So, if you want to add Boogeyman II to you're cllection this not it. ... Read more

No commentary from Moranis and Thomas? Why buy a DVD that has no commentary, especially 20 years after the fact, especially for such a rip-roaring film? I'll just keep watching my lame VHS until a worthwhile DVD is released. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites
This is one of the funniest Ernest movies ever made. In it, Ernest is a university janitor who befriends a history professor with a preposterous idea. Preposterous that is, until Ernest stumbles upon the physical evidence that proves the professor is right. But of course, a wily, rich, and ruthless antiquities collector wants the stuff for his own collection. And the professor has only Ernest to help him save the treasure.

In this movie, Ernest puts academics in their place, quite a few notches below where they think they should be. If you have any connection to academia, this movie will keep you in stitches- -believe it or not, Ernest really does understand how the inhabitants of the ivory tower think. Despite appearances, Varney must have been a scholar at some time to meet characters such as these. The movie starts with the Makita Warriors scene, an all-time Ernest classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE FUNNIEST "ERNEST" EVER!
"Ernest Rides Again" is the funniest of the Ernest films! Absolutely hilarious! A don't-miss! Grade: A+

4-0 out of 5 stars Stopped by apple maggots again!
This movie has to be the pinnacle of Ernest's movie achievements. It has the perfect combination of Jim Varney's silliness, outrageous situations and great bad guys.

It's also the most likely Ernest movie to be able to appeal to both adults and kids. It's a real showcase for Varney's comic talents. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Seinfeld with a heart
Sometimes movies just work better on television then on the big screen. Bruce McCulloch's Dog Park is one of those instances where without the expectations that paying 10 bucks brings to a movie, a small film's charm can come through.

The story here is really not much of one. Guy gets dumped, girl takes dog, guy walks around complaining about girl who gets dog, and guy then starts falling for another girl with other dog. Yet without an over-bearing plot, the fun of Dog Park comes through, as the characters are given the leverage to express whatever feelings they have about their dating lives. Luke Wilson brings a down to earth quality to his role as Andy, the down-on-his-luck romantic. Wilson gives his character a believable bewilderment about his continuing troubles with the opposite sex. The big surprise here is Natasha Henstridge, making her character Lorna someone who you could actually meet in a bar. Even though she's a knockout, the leggy blond is actually able to fit in nicely to the day-to-day quality of the film.

The dialogue is very sitcom like, but on the boob tube that's not a problem. Wilson's and Janeane Garofalo's characters, chat about relationships in almost the same way that Jerry and Elaine talked about dating on Seinfeld. The only difference is the characters are far more endearing. Garofalo's natural likeability for example, is able to shine through in her small, yet very key role.

Dog Park has more sweet then funny moments, there isn't per say a laugh-out-loud instance in the movie. But Dog Park does have a brisk lightness to it with characters who you don't mind spending 90 minutes with. Think of it as a nice sit down with friends movie, that is much better than what is normally on TV.

2-0 out of 5 stars Simply put, a "B" movie
I would like to say that the Mark McKinney scenes make renting the video worth it, but there simply aren't enough of them to justify such a statement. The messages behind the film are a little too transparent to call it clever, the plot and dialogue are a little too trite to call it well-written, and the characters (with the exception of McKinney's dog psychiatrist) are too thin to be interesting. I loved Kids in the Hall (including Bruce McCulloch), but this movie left me as cold as all the rest of McCulloch's post-Kids work. If you like McCulloch's stuff, you may like this movie. Otherwise, there's not much point in seeking it out.

5-0 out of 5 stars subtle and clever spin on love stories
for those who need explosions, julia roberts, or buses that can't slow down in order to enjoy a film, this one is not for you. Dog Park is a smart romantic comedy, brilliantly directed and with a great soundtrack to boot (esp. rox sexsmith). the viewer is treated to the added bonus of the chemistry between bruce mccolluch and mark mckinney and between the brothers wilson. not a character is wasted in this film-- rare for a genre that thrives off superfluous "best friend" roles. there are no mere "best friends" in this romantic comedy that not only amuses, but makes subtle assertions about the the human heart. mccolluch's visionary direction makes great use of his talented, all-star cast. mccolluch won't spoonfeed the viewer. if you're not willing to think while viewing, you best watch buy yourself a mainstream american comedy, perhaps something starring david spade.

3-0 out of 5 stars MOVIE IS ONLY SO SO, BUT THE MUSIC IS INCREDIBLE!
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THE SOUNDTRACK, IF THERE IS ONE?
I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE!

1-0 out of 5 stars This movie is the pits.
The movie has no point and its so boring. If you are soooo tempted to see it, rent it before buying it. I'll assure u, u won't like it. ...

Buy or rent this today! ... Read more
