Description
Another of Zalman King's steamy diary entries, this one featuring sultry model and O.J. Simpson ex Paula Barbieri.

4-0 out of 5 stars This one grew on me. It's now one of my favorites.
Red Shoe Diaries 05 -- Weekend Pass.

Being repetitive, because in some respects the same can be said of every Red Shoe Diaries story, if you want only eye-candy go elsewhere and enjoy. If you want eye-candy (always), mind-candy (often), skilled actors (always) and easy-to-hear music, try one. Then try to stay out of bed.

In the stories in this movie, I see people dealing with strongly-felt needs to face life alone.

Early in the first story, Double or Nothing, you hear the words "Risk all to gain all." A woman who'd chosen between hustling her body or hustling pool battles her own past and a male pool hustler to find self-respect. The first time I viewed it I wasn't prepared for its intensity and disliked it. It's now my favorite of these three.

In the second story, Bounty Hunter, a woman is hired to find a fugitive. She finds him and both a contest of wills and a surprise ending follows.

In the third story, Weekend Pass,...gee, I could say more than that in the military (the U. S. Army here) some things have changed since my time in the then-all-male Navy and some things haven't. View the movie. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars DEFINITELY A KIDS MOVIE
If you're an adult, you will probably find this movie pretty bad. But if you're kid you probably will enjoy its cast of younguns and the silly things that go on. After all you get:
*A Brooklyn family relocated in the Witness Protection Program to a town called Cactus Flats, Arizona, population 1985.
*Two aliens who take on the form of country western singers, buy out a pet shop and bring along four cute little aliens which can transform into ordinary pets..object: take back four human kids in their place.
*Two bumbling beefcakes posing as mafia hitman who are very stupid but not funny.
*Terry Kiser as the dad Brooklyn accent and all.
*A wife who remodels their home to look like the Ponderosa, replete with a Manhattan skyline on their garage door.
*Four darling little kids who have not gone on to bigger and better roles.
*Cheap special effects straight out of H.R. Pufnstuf.
And more of the same.
Kids will love it--that's why I gave it five stars.
Adults, be warned: it's not one of those movies you can love along with the kids!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The coolest video!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nightmare on Elm Street
Very scary movie that first introduced us to the skillful guy who kills you in your dreams, Freddy Kreuger. This movie was the film that launched many stars' careers, including Johnny Depp who does an excellent job here. The script is written for absolute maximum suspense and terror. The killings were very original and neat, although many of them were quite graphic. However, the graphic violence is something that perhaps made the film what it was - a fright film that wants to scare you as bad as it can, and for the most part it suceeds. Like alot of people have said, this and NEW NIGHTMARE were pretty much the only decent films in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars great scary movie from wes craven!
I find this movie very well done, it has a lot of scenes that would probably at least make you a little bit scared. This film has good acting by Heather Langenkamp(Nancy Thomson) and Johnny Depp(Glenn) and by Robert Englund(freddy). If you are in the mood to watch a horror film then this is one film that you should not miss

5-0 out of 5 stars This flick began one of the 80's greatest villians
While Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees went around killing and slashing their way through horror, Freddy Krueger took a different approach. He's a phantom, ghost like apparatus that is all too real. The ultimate BoogyMan. When you fall asleep, he stalks you. If he kills you in your sleep, you never wake up, cause your dead. This original idea went over well and audiences ate it up. The sequels were hit and miss, but always there was the razor glove, Freddy's classic one liners, and kill scenes that would do Jason and Michael proud. This is the flick that started it all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome + Excellent.
This movie rocked!! It was quiet scary and did show lots of blood. No doubt one of the best "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies. If your looking for a good night in to watch scary movies, definetly watch this. The acting was great and even the special effects looked good for its time, so this is the plot: Nacy Thompson, a teenager of Elm Street has begun to have terrible nightmares, one with a mad man with blades at the end of his fingers and horribly burnt skin. Whats even wierder is her friends are having them too. Soon Nancys friend Tina dies a gruesome and misterious death, so Nancy tracks it right to the source: Fred (Freddy) Krueger. Now the psycho is after her and the rest of her friends, no parent believes her so she is the only one who can stop him.Can she keep herself awake just in time to formulate a plan to stop Freddy? or is she and her friends doomed? Buy it or rent it, which ever one just do it and do it now!!.

5-0 out of 5 stars A legend for its time--STILL pretty scary
This was a breakout film in its day and scary scary scary... A villian who gets you in your sleep??? In your nightmares!!! Tremendous premise, great performances and awesome suspense. Scary scary... even today ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Zero Tolerance - A Lesson in American Filmmakery
Once in a great while, a certain will fall through the cracks for years and years until finally it will be discovered for its inherint greatness. Zero Tolerance is just such a movie. From the opening body-bag limit breaking shootout, to the exciting finale, this movie delivers, and does so with an exploding shotgun.

T1000 plays Zero Tolerance (I forgot his real name... It really isnt even important), A man whose had enough of heroin cartels killing his family, and trying to kill him. So he does what any man who up until 5 seconds ago was a cop would do. He loads up for some double-barreled action, systematically taking down each of the 5 members of The White Hand. The Hand may have an army of goons, a vast array of high powered assault rifles, and enough heroin to kill mick jagger, but the one thing that they dont have, are Zeros magic handguns which have the stopping power of a runaway train, and the accuracy of the worlds finest sniper rifles. Combined with his shotgun that is constantly loaded with grenade rounds, there isnt a heroin dealer left standing by the time Zero gets through with things

In conclusion, this isnt a movie you should watch. It is a lifestyle you should strive to achieve.

Thankyou, Zero Tolerance

5-0 out of 5 stars A great action film ..
If you're looking for an action movie then look no further, with high-adrenaline action scenes from start to finish, Zero Tolerance is the ultimate action flick. Robert Patrick has the starring role as FBI agent Jeff Douglas and yet again he shines. I am always amazed by the emotion he is able to put through in any character he plays and Jeff is no different, you really feel for him and what he's going through. Watching Robert in this film is actually almost like watching a young John Doggett (his character in The X-Files), some familar mannerisms can be spotted, as well as his trademark intensity. The supporting cast is also good, particularly Kristen Meadows as Megan, and also keep an eye out for Barbara Patrick (Robert's real-life wife) playing his wife Wendy in the film. I must admit that I originally hired this film purely because it starred Robert, who is my favorite actor, but I enjoyed it so much that I had to purchase my own copy. If you're a fan of Robert or just action movies in general, I highly recommend checking this one out. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars fire bad
mesmerizing and great. I fell for this movie because the story was interesting, people, arsonists, setting fires and Liotta and Leguizamo have to find out who is doing this. from start to finish its grand and well directed. for fans of the 2 stars or who like fire movies. based on actual events

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Story that caught me off guard
I knew absolutely nothing about this story before seeing the movie. The film began and when it said that it was based off true events, I almost turned it off. What caught my attention was the visual protrayer of the arson investigation... after that it was the story and the performances of the actors themselves. Ray Liotta stars as arson investigator John Orr. He, along with John Leguizamo, are trying to figure out who is starting all these arson-based fires. John Orr is well regarded as the chief arson inspector and if anyone can find out, he can. So the film plays out like a cat and mouse game. You are trying to figure out what is motivating the person who is setting these fires. What makes the story a bit more compelling is that, during the 90's, at least three firefighters were arrested for arson. After watching the DVD, I found myself going over the film again. I figured, since it was based on a true story the DVD would have some interesting extras. I was disappointed, therefore could not give it a 5. Nevertheless I did find the story fascinating. ... They have deathly needs which Chase is now compelled to act out. I really enjoyed this movie. It has a great storyline and is written in MY favourite genre - movies to watch in the dark! ... and ladies... the best parts of all are when Robert Patrick takes his shirt off. 5-0 out of 5 stars A True Terror Classic
When the onslaught of 80's slasher films was in high gear, most ripping off "Halloween", and "Friday The 13th", there were hardly any original frights in the bunch. " A Nightmare On Ellm Street" came along and changed that. This movie, like "Psycho", and "Halloween" before it, and "Scream" after it, changed the world of horror. Good horror films can still happen. A bunch of kids are having nightmares of a ghastly looking killer with knives for fingers. Is he for real?. Will they die if they sleep?. That is such a great, ingenious premise. The movie has several heart pounding scenes that will leave you holding on to your seat. It's that good. Robert Englund, as Freddy Krueger, helped create one of the most memorable and incredible cinema villains of all time. The movie always has that eerie feel and pull of a horrible, sweat soaked nightmare. Wes Craven is truly a master. Heather Langenkamp, as the heroine Nancy, is one of the all time great Scream Queens. This movie is frightening. If you don't like it, you must be an alien. A brilliant, legendary classic. Don't fall asleep!.

5-0 out of 5 stars One, two...Freddy's coming for you....
Horror films usually have the reputation as being mindless slasher movies filled with half-naked (and invariably stupid) bimbos. I mean just how many times can someone trip over nothing just to be slashed to bits by some masked axe/knife-wielding maniac? Is "Nightmare On Elm Street" an exception to this rule? In a word, YES!

Wes Craven's masterful creation known as Freddy Kruger is more than just a disgruntled maniac looking for sex starved teens. He is clever and dark and witty and horrifying and well, creepy as hell. There is actually a story line to this movie. Freddy was once an actual person...a monster in his own right, that was destroyed (burned to death, no less) by the good people on Elm Street. An eye for an eye? Well, Freddy's not finished yet...he re-emerges as a nightmare for Nancy, the daughter of one of the people who burned him years ago. Only Freddy's more than just a bad dream as Nancy (wonderfully played by Heather Langenkamp)and her friends (keep an eye out for a very young Johnny Depp) soon find out. He has gained power through their dreams and has very real consequences in the waking world.

Make no mistakes, this is a horror film, but the thinking person's horror film. You want to unravel the mystery of this creepy nightmarish figure that seemingly can do or become anything. Craven keeps it real, while managing to keep it fascinating...something few horror movies can claim. Freddy himself, is never really revealed or completely seen until the very end. This adds a great deal to the overall darkness of this movie. This film is gory but somehow that is not the focal point. It also explores the characters, especially Nancy, who emerges as the unlikely role-model/heroine.

"Nightmare On Elm Street" is a good flick, period. It is smart, clever, creative, witty, creepy, dark and down-right SCARY. Kudos to Wes Craven and his most-original masterpiece. Freddy is a force to be reckoned with!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good night, Sleep tight, Don't let Freddy Kreuger bite!
I must say that this is by far the most...Incredible thing I have ever seen!!! A lot of people didn't approve of it(when I was 6 I didn't approve of it but more on that later.) Because this movie had a low body count.(Find out wich one did on www.freddyvsjason.com) But even thought the BC was low, the Blood Count was phenomenal. Remember the scene where whatsherface was wrapped in that sheet with blood all around it? what about when that dude got pulled through the bed?(I hate to admit it but to make a long story short I didn't sleep in my bed till the next time I saw it!) But I wont spoil the movie for you 'First Timers'. But If you are a first timer, watch this movie by yourself in the middle of the night, door locked, lights off, (And maybe some rubber pants and a blanket! If you think it's that scary) Good night, Sleep tight, Don't let Freddy Kreuger bite!

5-0 out of 5 stars Freddy Krueger was the Boogeyman...
Wes Craven provided the final truly great film of his directorial career with A Nightmare On Elm St, initiating yet another successful horror franchise that deteriorated quickly but made Freddy Krueger a viable part of North American horror film iconography.
In this film, the teen residents of Elm St. are tormented by recurring nightmares of a razor fingered, fedora wearing maniac horribly scarred beyond recognition. When the teens begin to meet untimely and gruesome deaths, it would seem that their nightmares have become reality. Child molester and murderer Freddy Krueger has returned from the grave to wreak vengeance on the offspring of the vigilantes who burnt him alive many years previous.
The film benefits from a great cast of notable actors such as John Saxon (Black Christmas, Cannibal Apocalypse), Robert Englund (Eaten Alive, Tv's V mini-series) and a pre-stardom Johnny Depp (Donnie Brasco, Pirates of the Carribean). Heather Lagenkamp is also terrific as the main protagonist Nancy, who takes it upon herself to stop Krueger's murder spree. Lagenkamp would return in Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
The film offers a surreal tone that consistently blurs the line between dream and reality making for a unique and terrifying experience, the viewer never knows what to expect, quite a departure from the usual predictable slasher film.
In Krueger, Craven and Englund have fashioned a completely hideous and unforgettable villain. Far removed from the ridiculous caricature that Krueger would later evolve into in the many sequels that followed.
The film will also please gore fans as a plethora of gruesome effects are employed that far surpass those in either Halloween or Friday The 13th. The murders are very imaginatively orchestrated and original.
A Nightmare on Elm St. is a fast paced and very effective horror film that deserves to be seen. Too bad the myriad sequels failed to live up to the promise of this first outing. After this Craven would move on to more mainstream material like the mega-failure Deadly Friend and the hugely successful teen horror parody Scream.

5-0 out of 5 stars Revolutionary Modern Classic
Director Wes Craven was inspired by a series of newspaper articles to create "A Nightmare on Elm Street." Children were suffering terrible dreams and in desperation, told their parents they were frightened of dying. Then, one by one, the kids started inexplicably dropping away.

And what better foundation to create a horror film? Craven decided that his generation's horror films weren't up to snuff, and tended toward the "slasher" genre that was becoming very popular after the release of "Halloween." He upped the ante by attacking vulnerable young people the only place they felt safe: asleep.

This is an effective and unsettling idea, and is executed with masterly precision. Craven knows how to create suspense while building strong, endearing characters the audience will actually care for. The dream sequences are put together very well, and while the special effects seem dated as compared to today's high-budget Hollywood standards, it is perhaps their gritty, slimy quality that enhances the fright factor.

Overall, the acting is fairly decent. Johnny Depp isn't quite the Johnny Depp we know and love yet, so don't get moist in the panties when you see his name. Heather Langenkamp is convincing as the innocent, virginal girl caught in a web of parental lies and secret cover-ups. But it's Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger who steals the show. Later in the "Nightmare" series, Freddy became a comedic character, and all the scariness was lost. Sure, his face became more mangled, and his style of slaughter grew sophisticated and detailed, but the true allure of the Freddy character is portrayed only in this film.

"Nightmare" revolutionized the modern horror film, and brought science fiction and horror one step closer to each other. This allowed writers and directors to take more challenging projects and demand an imagination of their audience. Like all good things, though, Freddy was sucked in by Hollywood and New Line Cinemas and turned into an absolute joke. It wasn't until the final addition to the straight-up Freddy series, "Wes Craven's A New Nightmare" that the fright and creativity was redeemed, as once again Craven took it to the next level of horror and surreality.

Not only is Craven masterful in his directing, the film is an enjoyable hoot. It's a fun and scary journey into the black heart of a ruthless serial killer -- and cultural phenomenon -- you cannot escape. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining
First off I'm a big fan of Jason London. I've loved him since "Man On The Moon". I also love Todd Field, he is so talented. Then my fiance got a movie to watch (it was his turn to pick) and he got this movie called Broken Vessels. I had never heard of it and he was like "It's really good". We start watching the movie and I see the names Jason London and Todd Field on the screen. I was thinking, "what, how could I have missed this one." Anyways, it really was a good movie with some fun charectors. The people who say this movie is realistic are morons who are into the whole heroin chic thing. This movie centers around Tom a EMT from P.A. who moves to LOS ANGELOS NOT NEW YORK. He's trying to get away from his past and make a fresh start (why the hell would you move to L.A. to do that). Anyways, he gets a job riding along in an ambulance being partnered up with a Paramedic named Jimmy. Well, Jimmy is what you would call a functioning addict (because a lot of people who free base heroin have no problem functioning in society, this is were the so called "realism" is voided). Up until a certain point Tom has been painted as a goodie goodie kind of guy and he is, but he does have a past as I said. Jimmy introduces him into a world allowing him to embrace his old demons. You know, this movie was really funny. It was funny to see a guy smoke a balloon of heroin and then save a mans life (isn't it ironic, don't you think?). Jimmy's charector was wonderful, he was an out of control together guy who was heartless and caring. Now remember kids the moral of this story is that it's better to smoke heroin then shoot it. Jimmy and Tom learned this lesson the hard way. This movie is great, it's entertaining, funny, intense, and in your face. It is by no means realistic or set in New York and has nothing to do with "Bringing Out The Dead". Enjoy kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars EMT's get trashed
This is a cool movie about these two ambulence drivers and one totally corrupts the other. When they get a 9-11 call to save an old lady, one guy helps whilst the other guy robs her house. Pretty good movie if youre into heroin junkie movies and you like to see two people get trashed. I totally recommend this film.

5-0 out of 5 stars correction
I totaly agree with everybody elses opinion of this movie, but there needs to be a correction. Tom....the guy from PA he moves to L.A.,...not New York. They are paramedics in L.A. County. Bringing out the Dead was in N.Y.

5-0 out of 5 stars broken vessels
Great movie. Plots are as real as it gets.

5-0 out of 5 stars Deeply Disturbing, yet moving movie
I first saw this movie on cable, late one night when I was sick and couldn't sleep. I was not prepared for such a impactual movie, thinking, this plot has been done more than once now. I don't know how I missed this movie when it was first released, but I did and even though it has been on cable already, it is such a great movie I had to buy it on DVD, to watch it again and again. I know they say the movie was based on true events, however, some scenes seemed too far out to be real. Real or not, it packed a powerful message about drug abuse, and about being a follower and wanting to fit in. The main character is a young, naive man who moves to the Big Apple from a little small town in PA, and he gets a job as a paramedic. He is teamed up with the "Black Sheep" of the company (no one wants to be his partner) and as the "Black Sheep" character unfolds, you quickly find out why. He is a major drug user, totally unreliable and a extremely cynical person. His attitude is, he has seen it all and has done it all. Of course he immediately starts to educate his new partner on the ins and outs of live as a paramedic. Mainly he teaches him how not to work or care about your fellow man. Very disturbing for someone who is supposed to be helping people for a living. I will twice about the next paramedic I have to rely on:). Our shy, inexperienced hero (if you can call him that) from PA becomes totally mesmirized by his new partner and his wild, crazy, drug using lifestyle. This movie really shows you how one human being can be so easily influnced by another. And as these two go deeper and deeper into drug abuse, I felt myself being totally dragged into this world as if I was really there also. That is due to the great acting and the intensity of the story. It grabs you from the start and keeps you there to the end. If you like movies that don't sugar coat, is fast moving and very graphic, than this movie is for you. I personally love black comedies/intense dramas and I rate this movie to be one of the best of it's kind. Yes, the plot is familar and even some of the scenes may be familar, but the two stars really do such a believable job that the script starts to seems brand new. I found it totally captivating to watch how our hero starts to lose all his morals, goals and decency that he had, as the drugs, and his partners influence take over his whole life. I would highly recommend this movie if you can handle graphic scenes and the dark side of life. However, it is not for the weak or easlily offended and definitely not for the younger crowd. But I would recommend a parent watching this with a teenager that may be falling into a life of drugs. This movie may make someone think twice about going down that road. I also found the photography to be brilliant. I am not sure what the style of photography is called, but a lot of the scenes were shot very different than most of the movies on the market. Obviously, I am not professional critic, not knowing all the correct terminology to use to describe what I mean, but watch the movie for yourself and I think you will understand what I mean.

Highly enjoyable with a deep message. A must see film. ... Read more

It's a fun and scary journey into the black heart of a ruthless serial killer -- and cultural phenomenon -- you cannot escape. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars FUN Nancy Allen film
Low budget cheapie starring Nancy Allen. At 46 Allen still looks good but there's a bit too much collagen in those lips - check it out! PS - forget that ugly DVD cover. Allen gives an OK performance. Best line Indian to Allen:This land filled with evil spirit. Allen to indian:No argument there! Good DVD print and GREAT sound.Opening scene with Allen on the run is the best. A must for all Allen fans

1-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably bad......
The incredulity of the plot is only exceeded by the ineptness of the acting. Stay away from this one. Terrible. The only redeeming feature: the daughter's name in the movie is Carrie. (For you Nancy Allen fans out there.....) The only reason it gets one star is because the review page does not allow anything lower. ... Read more
