5-0 out of 5 stars Lundgren's Best
This is by far Dolph Lundgren's best movie. He has often came across a bit stiff in his movies as Arnold Schwarzenegger did in some of his first films like Commando. In this movie Lundgren seems comfortable and it shows. I think Dolph Lundgren and Brian Benben were a good match up here. The chemistry is like putting Devito with Schwarzenegger in "Twins". Add in Lundgren's love interest, Betsy Brantley, one really mean alien played by Matthias Hues, and you have a great cast. This movie has an excellent story line, good direction, and super sets and music. There is plenty of action and the movie has a nice pace. Add in some really cool weapons, and lookout. When two aliens that look human land on the planet there is never a dull moment. One of the aliens extracts endorphines from humans as a drug for other aliens. The other alien that has landed on Earth is a lawman and was sent to track the drug dealer. He will need Lundgren's and Benben's help to catch him. Throw in the fact that the alien drug dealer takes on drug dealers on Earth and you have non stop action. Don't miss this movie. Any fan of the TV series "Miami Vice", or the movies "Predator" and "Blade Runner", should like it. It's like they combined some Police versus drug dealers with some strange aliens thrown in to the mix with some great supporting roles. I love Caine's friend at the University, but he needs to switch to decaf instead of all that Jolt or whatever he's drinking. I can't believe they haven't put this on DVD yet. I will snap it up when they do.

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Lundgren doing what he does best kicking.......
Dolph lundgren and Brian Benben star as two cops on the trail of an alien killer who is harvesting endorphins using them as drugs,This is a cut above Alien invasions thanks to wit and nifty action scenes. I Come In Peace was directed by Craig R. Baxley (A former stuntman) and he directs ICIP with panache and style and the action setpieces are fun to watch as Dolph Lundgren and Matthias Hues stalk each other in a landscape of urban hell.........the title is for a follow up of one of Lundgren's best lines...........And you go in pieces..... I Come In Peace is one of those movies to watch on one of those rainy days where nothing is on TV. I Come In Peace's humor is so refreshing and the action so well staged you'll be glued to boobtube!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome!
I think this movie deserves an Academy Award for science fiction action drama(if there was one).I mean, why should a stupid film like Chicago get an award and not an awsome movie like this one.I've never seen a film about a drug addicted alien that comes to Earth in search of a fix and a kill until I watched "I Come in Peace" back in the early 90's.It's very well acted and you get to like the characters very much.Forget about all of the negetive comments that are given to this rare sci-fi movie and add it to your collections as soon as possible.

I saw this movie when it first came out in the theatres in around 1990. I was only eight years old back then. My brother's friend who saw the showing before me said that it scared him and asked if i was sure that I wanted to see it. Well, i saw it and was glad that i did. When i was growing up, Dolph Lundgren was a movie star. I remember his movies like Red Scorpion, Master of the Universe, The punisher, A view to a kill, and this one. This movie is the best out of the bunch for sure. Brian Benben and Dolph have really good chemistry, but Benben should be smart enough to trust Kane(Lundgren) rather than his shady FBI superiors. Mgm always makes out of this world, entertaining movies and this is one of the great ones. Make this a DVD. I love the part where Kane goes into Warren and the whiteboys' office building and kicks the crap out of three punks who try to stop him from interrupting the bad guys meeting. 4-0 out of 5 stars "Complainers? We don't need no stinkin' complainers!"
How can you resist a movie where they throw poodles out of windows, let kids drink from fire hoses, where Conan hacks people apart because some people turned a book in late? The movie does have its slow parts, but the spoofs and skits are absolutely hilarious. I won't tell you all of them because then you won't go and rent or buy this great movie. This movie is really good if you are a Weird Al fan, like REALLY off-the-wall humor, parodies, something that can make you laugh. Some people hate this movie, but I think it's because they're trying to see it as a movie. UHF is not really trying to be a movie, it's trying to be more of a collage of parodies. Anyway, see it for yourself. There's no telling how many stomach muscles you'll burst watching this hilarious film.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK?? What's the point?
~80's music and movies always scare me but this movie has a SMALL exception. This movie is about when George Newman, a teenager with no job, ("Weird Al" Yankovic) gets permission from his uncle Harvey (Stanley Brock) to run a television station with his friend Bob (David Bowe), the really weird janitor Stanley Spadowski (Michael Richards), the television reporter wannabe Pamela Finkelstein (Fran Drescher), and a laboratory scientist from another planet named Phllo (Anthony Geary) while trying to avoid another television company owner (Kevin McCarthy) from taking over his company U-62, and turning it in to a parking lot . This movie is what I like to call a "slapstick movie" which is a move with nothing but mere jokes and gags. Many of the zany programs on the station that George runs are called "Wheel of Fish" (A cross between "Lets Make a Deal" and "Wheel of Fortune"), Raul's Wild Kingdom", "Stanley Spadowski's Clubhouse", "Fun with Dirt", "Ghandi II" and "Strip Solitare". A lot of these things just don't make sense! This movie is rated PG-13 and has Language, Adult Content, and Rude Remarks. It's kind of weird but kind of funny in an odd kind of way. Raul's Wild Kingdom was hillarious when Raul (Cliff Stephens) shakes up an ant farm and says "OHHH! They're really mad now!" and when he throws a poodle out of a three-story window because he thinks he can teach it to fly. Ghandi II was also quite funny along with "Conan the Librarian" and "Spatula City". This movie is overall in my opinion, ALRIGHT but next time MGM/UA makes a movie, don't put Weird Al in it!~

5-0 out of 5 stars Cult Classic
If you are a fan of Weird Al's parodies, this is the DVD for you. I know some people don't get it (a.k.a: Roger Ebert and some other critics). Yeah, the plot is a tad weak, but the main focus of this project was to give Al an outlet into doing parodies of movies and TV. There are many priceless gags in the movie ("Raul's Wild Kingdom" and "Ghandi II" come to mind). There is also a fabulous performance by Michael Richards (a.k.a.: Kramer from "Seinfeld") as the station's janitor turned TV star. There are also appearances by Victoria Jackson (SNL) and Fran Drescher (The Nanny).
The audio commentary is fantastic. You get to hear about what inspired some of the scenes and also what was not included in the movie. You also get to find out why the DVD wasn't released until June 4, 2002! There are deleted scenes on the DVD in the bonus material including a fantastic one of Michael Richards ad-libbing an entire scene!

3-0 out of 5 stars weird al
if you liked weird als music, youll like this movie.its very silly but loads of fun.the kids will like it.if you are worried about how cool you are all the time and cant relax then dont watch this because its a movie for people who likewhat they want.individuals and dreamers.the bad guy is this old man from a tv station who is als rival when he has to run a tv station.this movie is very very funny.the bad guy is a real pain in the ass.its definately worth watching!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST of random humor!

2-0 out of 5 stars The Ugly, the Bad, and the Good
When you buy one of those DVDswhich include several films for acheap price, you often get whatyou pay for; PRAY FOR DEATH is anoutstanding case in point. THE UGLY: One reason why I gotthis one is NIGHT OF THE DEATH CULT, which is the fourth of theBlind Dead series, and I'm sorry to report that the picture qualityis atrocious. It clearly came froma substandard videotape source, and is full of the sort of hideous artifacts that plagued budget VHStapes. Let's hope for a bettercopy of this title someday soon. THE BAD: The prerelease infoindicated that the notorious MARKOF THE DEVIL PART 2 was part ofthis package, but if you orderedit for that reason, you're goingto be bumming, as DEATH CULT is the only announced title which isactually included...come on, guys! THE GOOD: As to the movieswhich ended up being included,THEWEREWOLF VS THE VAMPIRE WOMAN is acampy Paul Naschy vehicle which isentertaining in its goofy fashion.SISTERS OF DEATH features an oddperformance by 1950s Sci-Fi heroArthur Franz as he menaces, amongothers, the ill-fated Playboy model Claudia Jennings...this oneoffers better acting than usuallyseen in such low-budget fare. Andlastly we have the ubiquitousSATANIC RITES OF DRACULA in apretty decent letterbox print. Iguess that Hammer must really notcare about this title, judgingfrom the number of cheap DVDs onwhich it can be found. All threeof this group are watchable, if not exactly DVD demo material. VERDICT: All in all, it's OKfor the price, but I'll be morewary in the future.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent martial arts action. Villains are evil.
This movie is a classic martial arts gem. The fight scenes are well done, and the main villain is extremely evil which makes the ending even more appealing. This is a must see, if you like good martial arts scenes, and like to see really bad villains get theirs in the end. ... Read more

The darkest of the filmic trilogy that unites husband and wife DennisQuaid and Meg Ryan, Flesh and Bone is a grimly affecting tale of two lonely lives, one unexpectedly, dramatically affected by the other. Quaid is the tragic Arlis, condemned to running away from memories of his horrific childhood. His is a life on the road, replenishing vending machines including one with a live chicken and predictions of the future. Ryan's unhappily wed Kay fears a past that Arlis is inextricably tied to. Still, they're drawn to each other. Then Arlis's father, theamoral Roy (an appropriately frightening James Caan), shows up and interferes and intervenes. Joining Roy is the benignly malevolent Ginnie (a sharp Gwyneth Paltrow in her first significant role). The film is written and directed by underused Steve Kloves, who wrote the lovely Racing with the Moon, and who wrote and directed The Fabulous Baker Boys.

For Flesh, Ryan is at her throaty, dark best, and Quaid's pain is etched on his face. The couple works very well together in this film, theirfirst as a married couple (Innerspace and D.O.A. were made pre-nup). It's not the romantic light comedy both Quaid and Ryan had later success with, but it's a very effective and compelling film, despite its devastating tale. --N.F. Mendoza ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Magnificent
This is perhaps Meg Ryan's best role as she delivers a truly emotionally scarred and self-forgotten Kay. Ryan's portrait of her character is so real it's scary.

Dennis Quaid is also on one of his best performances, though at the end seems a little off, but not by far. Excellent work.

Gwyneth Paltrow is memorable as she blends into the story so naturally and sharply that eventhough her character is vague in the storytelling, she shines like a true star.

James Caan is scary. He acts so naturally that you wonder if the guy is really like that. He is a solid good artist.

Bottom line: everything comes together (acting, story, photography, pauses) to produce a unique and rare jewel of a movie. If you like movies that make you think and reach deep into the soul, you gotta see it (and probably own it, I know I do).

4-0 out of 5 stars ...
What I like so much about "Flesh and Bone" is that it's so unlike most other Thomas Newman scores but it also predates the movies we have came to love like "The Green Mile", "Shawshank Redemption", "American Beauty". Up to that point Thomas had not quite formed a style that we could distiguish him with, that would indentify him with the movies he scores. He beautifully captures the mood and atmosphere with melancholy and sadness and at the same time disturbing and haunting. Not a typical Hollywood score when instruments such as autoharp, bowls, bells, mandolin, marxaphone, bowed string, processed dulcimer, steel guitar, rod and plate assembles, birds, insects and vehicles along with the orchestration are heard. There is a ambience within the music that blends so well with the setting of the movie, the wheat fields of Texas.

3-0 out of 5 stars uneven, but watchable
This tale of murder and mayhem sat in the backwoods of texas isnt always easy to follow,. For starters, the two lead characters played by then lovers ryan and quaid, seem oddly mis-matched, he like he isnt really into the role at all, and she is just plain not gritty and hardened enough for this film.

James Caan is deliciously evil in this film, and viewers might get a kick out of a younger Gwyneth Paltrow as Caans young girl friend and companion. She has a small semi- nude part as well.

There is a nice shot of her and Mey Ryan out in a wheat field towards the end of the movie with their blone hair waving in the breeze.

But for all it could have been the film just never comes together fully. Still, thats just my opinion you may like it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for "some" occasions, especially if you're a writer.
This music was perfect for the dark film that embodied it, yet, it is not quite the Thomas Newman we've all come to love and admire. I remember watching the film and somewhat becoming enchanted with the score, not knowing it was Newman but having a pretty good guess that it was. After I found out it was him, I decided to buy it(and I see I might have been in the minority on this decision). Word of caution, I could not find a place on the net to sample this music so you'll have to go by the film alone. If I were to compare this score to other Newman films, I'd be hard-pressed to find a suitor. One score that comes to mind is the Green Mile. If you like music that makes you think, tracks #6, #10, #11,#18, #21, and #23 will do. All in all, though, this score is not for those folks who fell in love with other Newman scores like How to Make An American Quilt, Little Women, Fried Green Tomatoes, or Meet Joe Black. It is, to put it plainly, The Green Mile on a very bad day. Even so, I gave it 3 stars because although hard to hear at times, it is very influencial music, especially for a writer like myself who gets inspirtation from music, and this score does just fine for my more morbid writings. If you're brave enough to buy this cd, I wish you luck but don't be surprised if you fall in love with it or throw it in the nearest trash can. It's that kind of score.

1-0 out of 5 stars Boring & Stupid!
Why are people saying this movie is a thriller? It was so boring and pointless I had to make myself stay and watch it to the end. I'm not going to waste my time and write a detailed account of the movie. I'll just say that it was VERY dissapointing and Gwenyth Paltrow (or however you spell it) is UGLY and OVERRATED! ...
