The title episode features the band of strange-haired 9-year-oldsfrom the Nickelodeon series sorting out the familiar giving-versus-greeddebate of Christmas. Consumer-minded Helga searches for the perfect present to impress Arnold while he searches for the lost daughter of his friend,Southeast Asian immigrant Mr. Hyunh. Helga gets some "really boss" snow bootsas an early gift, while Arnold strikes a deal with a government official whowill search for the daughter if Arnold can find a pair of... you guessed it--snow boots. This double episode crams a lot of goodwill and redemption into its brief 26 minutes. Also included is a bonus 11-minute episode, "Snow Day,"which features a dutiful Arnold helping out his landlord grandfather whilehis friends frolic in the snow. Will Arnold get a chance to have fun before the snow melts? Just leave it to Grandpa. The themes are aimed atgrade-schoolers, but preschoolers will enjoy watching animated big kids inaction. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... Read more

I am not one for too much mush, but Arnold's Christmas episode is touching. The subtle undertones in this cartoon are great, especially the love-hate relationship Helga has for Arnold. I think adults will enjoy this as much as kids. The episodes on this VHS are some of Hey Arnold!'s best work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet
This was a very sweet episode. Gosh, It seems like it was just being released on TV for the first time. It is a very nice Christmas Special that the whole family will enjoy. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to see this one, it's awesome!
Ok, I just wanted to say that this was absolutely the most touching Christmas video I have ever seen in my life. It was right on the mark, and it truly did grasp everything about Christmas that is important. When the kind, warmhearted Arnold's quirky family plans their annual "Secret Santa" project, Arnold ends up picking Mr. Hyunh's name. Unsure of what the quiet and somewhat secluded Mr. Hyunh wants for Christmas, Arnold decides to have a talk with him and gather some clues as to what he might want. That's when Mr. Hyunh tells Arnold the story of how he was separated from his daughter Mai in a war many years ago, when Mr. Hyunh was trying to raise his child in a dangerous country. Believing that Mai must be living somewhere in the city, Arnold and his best friend Gerald go on a quest to find Mr. Hyunh's beloved daughter. Meanwhile, Helga Pitaki, Arnold's secret admirer, is trying to find the perfect gift for Arnold. No matter what she finds, it always ends up being the wrong thing. As the video progresses, Arnold and Gerald make a bargain with a businessman who may be just the person to help them locate Mai. Unfortunate circumstances cause Arnold and Gerald to leave empty-handed. After overhearing a conversation between Arnold and Gerald, Helga takes matters into her own hands. She searches deep within her heart, makes some sacrifices, and ends up helping to locate Mai. On Christmas morning, Mai shows up at the doorstep, and she and her father share a very emotional reunion. Arnold and Gerald never find out that it was Helga who was responsible for all this, and that was what made me want to cry! Considering Helga is usually a headstrong, angry little girl, this is pretty touching. This episode profiles a very sensitive and sacrificial Helga. It will touch your heart totally! Everyone learns the true meaning of Christmas in this heartwarming holiday special. This is a beautiful episode and I recommend it to everyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars My fav Hey Arnold! Episode!
This is my fav Hey Arnold! episdode! In Arnold's boaring house, they do Secret Santa's every year. And when Arnold get Mr. Hyunh he finds out that all he wants for Christmas is to see his daughter, who he was forced to leave during a war in his home country. So Arnold makes a deal with a rich buisness man who can find anyone. Arnold and Gerald will do all the Christmas shopping if he finds Mr. Hyunh's daughter. But he can't find one thing, boots. Which Helga just happens to have a pair of....

If you like Hey Arnold! I reccomend you buy this tape. It really has "the christmas Spirit." ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Love Stinks
The video was really cute and had some of my favorite Hey Arnold! episodes, but the quality of the tape was poor. It was in 6 hour mode so it wasn't as clear as on normal TV, but it was still good. The only other disappointment was that the episodes are restricted to only 1st and the beginning of 2nd season, so there was no Lila (not that that's necessarily a bad thing :) Luckily though, the Valentine episode is from 1st season so it's on there along with some other favorites. All in all, it's definitely worth the money. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars "FOOTBALL HEAD" a little deflated...
I will start with the negative part of my review first (because I think it is better to end on a more positive note). I have two problems with this movie. First, it seems a little 'dark' for a film aimed at a younger audience. And second, it seems specifically directed for all the people already familiar with ARNOLD and his friends. A little more back-story for a less ARNOLD-educated viewer would have been nice (but he/she will catch the basics).

Okay, let's move on to the good stuff. The movie has everything. A decent story with an awesome cast of characters always makes me happy (even if I'm behind). Arnold and all his friends face (what appears to be) their greatest challenge ever-they have to save the entire neighborhood from a development tycoon. (Okay, the plot isn't too original, but it is done in a refreshing way.) After they confront the guy directly is when things get truly interesting...and the adults in the audience can chuckle at the subtle rip-offs of movies I hope younger viewers haven't seen yet. So parents who dread taking their kids to see an intelligent enough movie can sit back and have some fun too.

Appropriately rated PG for its rather intense climax.

5-0 out of 5 stars I saw it at the film festival!
It was a wonderful movie! It was in a premiere in the Film-Festival here in New York! there was no empty seats and everybody enjoyed it to the max even our on Craig Bartlett creator of "Hey Arnold!" was there I had a blast and when it premieres in June 28 all the fans will have the time of there lifes with this romantic-action-packed-humorous-woderful movie!!!

Incase you don't know what's about it's about Arnold has to save his neighborhood from a man named Sheck who wants to destroy it and build a "mall-plex", Helga finds out that his dad (Big Bob Pataki) himself is involed in the building and he is planning to build a new bigger Beeper Store right where Arnold lives. Helga must choose or Love or beeing rich with his love's house tron down and is up to Arnold and his Friends along with a mysterious Deep Voice to save his neighborhood! A totally AWSOME MOVIE!

1-0 out of 5 stars A good show... horrible movie.
This movie was all around dull. The only good scene was when Big Bob is fighting Nick Vermiccili and he falls against the refrigerator and pickle juice spills on him and turns him green and he stands up and growls and rips of his shirt like the Hulk and beats the snot out of Nick... Aside from that and Helga sighing blissfully about bulldozers at the end when she confesses her love to Arnold this movie sucked.

The animation was better than the TV show, the music wasn't there... the plot wasn't there... This movie was a dud.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's Okay.
This movie was alright. It could have been a lot better without the constant use of the word "Neighborhood." Hearing that word over and over again is just irritating.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Hey Arnold! The Movie"
I watch "Hey Arnold!" everyday and every episode makes me laugh. I like Aronald's grandparents because they're very funny. I went to the theaters to see "Hey Arnold! The big-screen version of the hugely popular 1970s television sitcom takes an original angle: instead of simply re-creating the old series, the film spoofs it by presenting the merged family as blithely unaware that fashions and customs have changed in the '90s. Shelley Long and Gary Cole are hilarious as the ultra-square yet libidinous Mr. and Mrs. Brady, Christopher Daniel Barnes is an ideal Greg, and Christine Taylor seems practically cloned from the original Marcia. But director Betty Thomas (Private Parts) shifts the emphasis away from comparisons between old and new Bradys and concentrates on quasi-surreal parodies and set pieces featuring the Brady kids doing their spirited, singing thing for a disbelieving public. Smart, sharp, and happy to share its conspiratorial mood with an appreciative audience, The Brady Bunch Movie is a kick. --Tom Keogh ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Come on Home with the Bradys.
When I first watched this movie, I really wasn't looking forward to seeing it. I enjoyed watching the television show when I was a kid, but it wasn't one of my favorite shows. However, this film really surprised me and turned out to be the funniest movie I've seen in years.

The movie is hilarious. It parodies everything that made the Brady the Bradys (Cindy's lisp, Mike's family talks, potato sack races, etc) . All the actors have a dead-on impersonations of the original characters and make the spoof totally believable.

The major plot of the film is fairly simple. The Brady's owe $20,000 in back taxes and their beloved home is going to be sold if they can't raise the funds. Their next door neighbor is a greedy developer who wants to build a shopping mall in the Bradys neighborhood. All the other homeowners have sold, but the Bradys won't bite. The desperate developer seems to have lost, until he finds out about the Bradys' back taxes. Then things get messy. There is also a subplot revolving around Jan's struggle with being a middle child and always being overlooked by Marcia. Jan's "struggle" is one of the most hilarious things I have seen on film in a long time. You'll never think of hearing voices the same again (or Jan Brady for that matter).

Overall a hilarious film that parodies the original television series. The movie has the blessing of the Bradys creator (he wrote the screenplay). It is a delight for anyone who remembers the original series and even if you don't, you're sure to have a few laughs with this 70's family living in a modern world.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Movie - Disappointing DVD
I remember watching this movie in the theatres. The audience was packed and I LOVED every minute of it. Shelly Long made an outstanding Carol Brady, loving wife and doting mother to six (count 'em six) children. The movie captured the classic camp of the television show perfectly down to trademark episode storylines inter-woven into a bigger story. The real stand out actors though has to be Christine Taylor as Marcia and Jennifer Elise Cox as Jan. The dynamic duo really set the stage with not only their remarkable resemblance to the characters but the way they captured even the inflections of the blonde Brady girls. It was almost like being taken back to the series. And speaking of which, several original series cast members make cameo appearances in the film, such as Florence Henderson as Grandma Brady, Barry Williams as a music producer, Ann B. Davis as Shultzy (named as an homage to her character on the Bob Cummings Show), and Christopher Knight as the school coach. And you can't miss the ever talented Jean Smart or RuPaul as the drunk next door neighbor and school guidence counselor. The drawbacks of the DVD release though is that Paramount skimped on any bonus material. We are benefited with seeing the movie in crystal clear widescreen and in Dolby sound, but there are no behind-the-scenes clips added though such material was shown on television when the movie was just released. There are no character/actor bios. There are no photo stills. There are no Brady song montages. There isn't even a movie trailer of the movie itself. There is just simply nothing added to make this DVD as special as it could have been than just the movie standing alone. In my mind, the purpose of releasing a movie on DVD at all is to provide the audience with a higher level of product than you would recieve on a standard videotape. Because the movie wasn't released with any of these I have to grudgingly give the DVD a three out of five stars. Not because the movie isn't good, because it is. It's one of my favorites. No, I gave it three stars because companies such as Paramount and others like them really should know better. The word 'cheated' comes to mind.

3-0 out of 5 stars Classic Bradys
This is a show I grew up on. And I watched all 6 Brady kids grow up on TV as well, so to see them (well not all the original kids) on the big screen had to be a must see. Two decades later the Brady's still have a following, judging by the commercial success of this film and a whole new generation is introduced (though probably don't understand) the wholesome white bread image the Brady's portrayed. Stuck in their 70's world while everyone around them has progressed? to the cynical 1990's, Mike, Carol, Alice & the Brady kids face the problem of a disgusted neighbor (Michael McKean, Lenny from another 70's favorite sitcom, Lavern & Shirley)trying to get rid of the bell bottom wearing Bradys as neighbors. Fans of this show, will recognize many familiar themes from the Brady Bunch's successul sitcom run such as Greg as Johnny Bravo, Cindy's tattle tale, and my favorite Jan's envy of Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. By the way Marcia really looks like a twin Maureen McCormack (the original Marcia). Florence Henderson (the original Carol Brady makes a guest appearance as the grandmother and so does the original Greg (Barry Williams). But the new cast, who look nothing like the originals except for Marcia, do a great job of mocking the Brady sitcom I grew up watching.

1-0 out of 5 stars Why oh, why does Hollywood want to ruin icons?
Why do they insist on making a mockery of television shows we all loved? Brady Bunch, Scooby Do... there have been others. They make a movie that serves SOLELY to make the characters and premise look dumb. It's irritating and stupid.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best comedy!!!
If you are looking for a hilarious comedy that will have you rolling on the floor for hours and hours that isn't too bad for the little children? Well if the answer is yes, then this movie is the perfect movie for you. Then after this movie won 6 Emmy's they came out with another sequal that earned 4 Emmy's, and then, the final and the best sequal(The Third) is the most funny, it is where Greg Brady becomes President. ... This second ironic send-up of the old Sherwood Schwartz sitcom is even funnier than The Brady Bunch Movie. Shelley Long and Gary Cole return as the married heads of the merged family known as the Bradys, and Christopher Daniel Barnes and Christine Taylor reprise their roles as eldest stepsiblings Greg and Marcia. As with the first film, the clever premise finds the Brady clan caught in a kind of '70s time warp, while the rest of the world has moved well into the '90s. Greg is still looking for a "groovy girlfriend," Mr. Brady thinks the idea of a cable that sends 50 channels to one's TV set must be a joke, and Mrs. Brady spends hours at the beauty shop only to look exactly the same as she went in. There's a plot involving an imposter (Tim Matheson) who claims to be Carol's long-lost husband, but the real charge in this comedy comes from the way these pseudohip characters deal with sexual taboos (is there any real reason that Greg and Marcia shouldn't get it on?) and the incredulous reactions of other people. --Tom Keogh ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Far out, man! Groovy flick!
A Very Brady Sequel isn't exactly what I'd call Oscar material, but it's good for just a few (actually, many) laughs with your best buds. Shelley Long and Gary Cole are back as the always cheerful, let's-work-things-out-together kind of parents as Mr. and Mrs. Brady. The kids from the first movie are also back as their original characters, and so is Alice.

In this hilarious sequel, everything is just perfectly normal in the Brady household until a man comes to the house claiming to be Mrs. Brady's first husband. But secretly, he's really after a valuable horse statue in their home. Of course, the Brady gang believes him and invites him to stay for awhile. Then, when they are really starting to get to know each other, the man reveals who he really is, kidnaps Mrs. Brady, and takes her out to Hawaii where he is supposed to sell the horse statue! And of course, the rest of the Bradys go after her...

I think this is just as good as the first Brady movie. Both were pretty good. There is a smarter script to the Brady sequel, too. And Jan gets a boyfriend! Greg and Marcia also start feeling affection for each other, too. This is wicked funny and I recommend it for anybody who loved the TV series or the first movie!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Brady Bunch Review
A Very Brady Sequel is a funny spoof of the shows premeired on television in the 70's. It features the bradys living in the 90's, but stuck in the 70's. Such as when a soliciter calls up offering the family cable service, Mr. Brady says: "So, you're saying I can connect a wire to my TV and in will come 50 channels? I don't think so, good bye." The main event of the movie is when Mrs. Brady's old husband comes back. Really, he is an imposter but the bradys do not notice. When he whisks Mrs. Brady off to Hawaii, Mr. Brady decides to teach him a lesson on kindness. This is a funny movie and good entertainment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Barbara Eden Plays "Jeannie" in the movie
The Best scene is with Barbara Eden playing "Jeannie".Although uncredited in the credits her scene is the Best. The scene has Jeannie arriving at the Brady's anniversary party looking for Mike Brady.Jeannie tells them he is her husband. The Best movie based on the TV show.Better than the original movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars very funny
i saw this a long time ago when i was younger and after just watching it recently i realized how many jokes i missed cause i didn't get back then. this movie is soo funny. the bradys are like clueless and hopelessly stuck in the 70s while the world around them is so modern. its funny to see how they act compared to everyone else around them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good!
This was a very enjoyable collection of "Hey Arnold!" episodes about Helga. "Arnold" is a great show with great characters. It most certainly has more depth than other animanted shows (not that a cartoon has to have much depth to be considered good). The only problem with this collection is it's only the earlier episodes about Helga so they don't have some of the best ones like MARRIED (where Helga imagines being married to Arnold), and HELGA ON THE COUCH (where Helga reveals her deepest fears and concerns to a phsycologist). All in all it's a good collection but I come they come out with a HELGA STORIES 2 with some of the later episodes!

4-0 out of 5 stars A barrel of laughs!
I was never a fan of the 70's Brady Bunch sitcom perhaps because I didn't grow up then or, more suitably, because the idea of a happy family in today's modern world seems just to good to be true.
However, when creator Sherwood Schwarz made a movie, I was very impressed. Rather than rehashing the mawkish sitcom in where one member of the family encounters some minute mishap of which inevitably is solved at the end of the episode, Scharz decided to turn his classic sitcom into a spoof and what better than to transport the zany family into the nineties.

Most of the hilarity in the film eminates from the fact that the Bradys' innocence, naivity and perfection against the harsh world of the 90's is no match. All characters are practically cloned which makes the film even more impressive.

The plot is wafer thin but who cares? Mike Brady's house is up for repossession and it is up to the family to save it. The question is how? A very funny solution ensues. The sister rivalry between Jan and Marsha works very well and again contributes to most of the laughs within the movie.

To say anything else would ruin the movie so sit back and enjoy. You won't be disapointed!

4-0 out of 5 stars The Brady's Meet Rocky Horror
The movie is funny! It is risque, but not crude, which is nice. Above all it has great writing. The actors are fine (but it is painfully clear when an original cast member takes a cameo that they do not have the talent of the orignal cast, which is surprising. Who knew the cast of the Brady Bunch was talented? That is no doubt one of the reason's behind the tv show's success.)
Lots of comedy about sexuality, but no where near the gutter level of post "Something About Mary" comedy.
Even though I said it is a good comedy and well worth seeing, I have to warn you that it also left me feeling sad and empty. The premise was funny - the Brady's are stuck in the sunny 70's the rest of the world is in the cruel 90's - but the postmodern cynicism is bleak.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE MOST EXCELLENT MOVIE EVER
Sha na na ! Those are the three words I have to utter. I think that A Very Brady Sequel is one of the most hilarious movies ever to hit the cinemas. KEEP IT! Im telling you, youll never want to throw it away once you own it, its like a plate of amazing spaghetti, and nothing says lovin like a tummy full of alices spaghetti! But seriously guys, Marcia, Jan and Greg are the main characters in the sequel and they are so incredibly hilarious, there is no other word to describe it. Jan Brady is completely insane and psychopathic, worst than the original movie and this time around she doesnt have multiple personalities like Sybil. Marcia knows exactly what to say to everything Jan does, lines such as "Ill go first cause' im the prettiest" and "oh honestly jan" will have you and your families busting a gut (or two) (or three) at this cinematic classic. DO NOT GO ON WITH OUT THIS FOLKS it is once in a lifetime movie! Forget about watching your figure for your new boyfriend, forget out dillydallying, now is the time to get this treasure before it dissapears like bobby and cindy with a magic kit! IT IS EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
The Brady Bunch movies were extremly funny! I couldn't stand the TV Show but the movies are great! There not TO "bad" for minors. I highly recommend this movie who loves a great laugh once in awhile.

5-0 out of 5 stars ARNOLD IS DA MAN!
I JUST CAUGHT ON TO THIS HEY ARNOLD SHOW BOUT A MONTH AGO & HAVEN'T BEEN DISSAPPOINTED YET & THIS TAPE WAS NOT A LETDOWN NEITHER AS ME & MY DAUGHTER LOVED IT! WE WILL DEFINITELY BUY MORE & RECOMMEND YOU BUY THIS ONE.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but they didn't release the best episode.
All the Hey Arnold episodes are good, but they didn't release the best episode. The one called "The Pigeon Man" is probably the best episode of the whole series. But since they didn't put it on tape, you'll have to watch it on Nickelodeon until it come's on.The episode on this is about the freindship between Arnold and Jerald, and though a little rocky at times, they always pull through for each other. It's the kind of friendship everyone wants but is very rare. "Pigeon Man" is about a man that Arnold meets on the top of the roof who takes care and watches over pigeons. Arnold learns that the man always stays with the pigeon and never keeps in touch with people. The reason is that society rejected him because he was different. And while Arnold is taking him out to places a couple of kids tear down his pigeon area. He then leaves to another place. But what he tells Arnold is probably the most true thing i've ever heard. You'll have to watch Nickelodean to see it but it's worth it. It show's that even if society rejects you there will always be someone out there who cares. But remember, this episode is not on this tape. You'll have to watch Nickelodean to see it.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!!!!!
The "Hey Arnold! Partners" video was just great! These five cartoons describe how Arnold and Gerald get along together when they're friends. I should expect more "Hey Arnold!" videos to come out before the end of 1999. I think they are: "Hey Arnold! More Urban Adventures", a sequel to the "Hey Arnold! Urban Adventures video; and "Hey Arnold! School Days". ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Another great Hey Arnold release
This tape of Hey Arnold! cartoons was very good, and it included the favorite "Pigeon Man". I was very dissappointed with the quality of the tape though... not nearly as clear as television. The music was superb though- hopefully someone will release the Hey Arnold! soundtrack- the jazz is great! ...

The Movie" and I cracked up on every scene because it was cool. My mom and dad didn't like it very much but who cares? ... Read more
