In a departure from L.M. Montgomery's book series, this third TV moviejumps ahead to World War I and puts Anne and her beloved Gilbert smack in themiddle of it. Instead of marrying Gilbert after her teaching days--as she doesin the books--Anne spends a disillusioning year with him in New York City, andthen the couple quickly marries before the good doctor ships out to France. (Inthe book Rilla of Ingleside, Anne's sons go to war and her youngestdaughter is separated from her sweetheart.) Impetuous as ever, Anne joins theRed Cross and crosses the pond to track down her husband when his letters arereturned unread. What follows is an adventure that takes her through battlezones--where the bodies pile up faster than you can say Saving PrivateRyan--and on to London with a half-orphaned baby, her best friend's injuredhusband, and a tangle of international intrigue. Fans of the 10-book series maybalk at the divergences and the fact that very little time is spent on PrinceEdward Island. But the book's unrestrained romanticism and unapologeticsentimentality remain intact, as well as the surviving cast of the prior twomovies, most notably Megan Follows as Anne and Jonathan Crombie as Gilbert. Thismovie, produced in 2000, clocks in at 185 minutes and is suitable for ages 9 andolder. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A bitterly disappointing finale to the story of Anne Shirley
Having listened to Kevin Sullivan's commentary on the DVD versions of the first two "Anne of Green Gables" series, I was forced to conclude that despite the excellence of those productions he really has a very poor conception of L. M. Montgomery's stories. That certainly helps to explain the travesty of "Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story." As co-writer, Sullivan totally abandons Montgomery's Anne books to spin his own overly melodramatic tale of World War I, even though the author's "Rilla of Ingleside" deals with that same time frame. Of course, Anne is almost fifty years old by the time of that novel and it is a pair of her sons who go off to fight in the Great War. Montgomery's novel was published right after the end of World War I, making it a uniquely contemporaneous work which richly deserves a film treatment. Maybe Sullivan objected to the novel's politics, in which the characters supported the war and the Empire, unlike Anne in this film, but who knows. Clearly they waited too long to get around to making this third part, since Anne and Gilbert should have been married long ago. Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie are basically twice as old as the characters they first portrayed in the original "Anne." But while it is great to see these two playing Anne and Gilbert again and there is nothing to fault with either one of their performances, the story told here is just plain awful. There is no reason to tell the tale of a wife who goes looking for her husband in Europe using L. M. Montgomery's characters and if you want to do the struggling writer routine they could have turned to Montgomery's Emily books.

The first two "Anne" series were filled with warm and wonderful moments that you enjoy viewing again and again. The only moments that stand out in this sorry affair are when Anne finally finds Gilbert and when she goes back to the train station where Matthew first found Anne so many years ago to give us a sense of having come back to where we started. Of course, a lot of our disappointment comes from the heighten expectation of finally getting to see our beloved characters on screen again. I know I am not the only one who has read everything written by L. M. Montgomery after seeing the first "Anne of Green Gables" program, so I know I am not alone in being bitterly disappointed by this production. Even worse, the storyline here effectively kills ever returning to Montgomery's original stories, unless we are to suddenly believe Anne's kids end up being old enough to fight World War II. Watching this is just such a depressing experience that you have to go back and read again the best parts of Montgomery's novels or watch the first two series again. This is not something Anne's fans will ever treasure, even if they are compelled to check it out. When they see the ruined state of Green Gables, the aptness of the metaphor will be palatable.

2-0 out of 5 stars worth missing
Unfortunately I saw this movie on the shelf and just grabbed it up, thinking it would be just as heartwarming as the other two. WRONG! The acting is terrible and the story is depressing. Not recomended at all!

1-0 out of 5 stars awful...dreadful...disappointing...
...and I have never read the books - this mess is inexcusable and should never have been made. The 'plot' is incredibly unbelievable, the worst sort of cliche melodrama, and the virtues that were so evidenced and detailed in the earlier films are swamped under. This is one movie you can afford to miss - I can think of nothing good to say about it.

2-0 out of 5 stars BIG Disappointment
"Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story" is a huge disappointment. This continuing story, sequel or whatever you want to call it should never have been made. Megan Follows' performance as Anne Shirley is horrible. This is not the Anne I remember from "Anne of the Green Gables" I am sorry to say. Her face and voice have changed radically. Megan Follows really did not age well. Her voice sounds like she's a "two-pack-a-day" smoker. It really is sad. As for the actual story I can only say that it borders on the ridiculous and ludicrous and reeks with mediocrity. The World War I sequences are foolish and laughable. The several coincidences that occur throughout this story are beyond all credibility. Sequels like this often destroy the original. I hope this does not affect "Anne of the Green Gables." "Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story" will be an eternal disappointment for many of us who loved Megan Follows in the original.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth having in your collection
If you love anne of green gables. I too was dissapointed at first. Mostly because i read the books and the differences in it were huge, also there is not much of the movie actually set in avonlea. But once you get over that it is still a great movie. I just felt that anne and gilbert after all the time they had to wait in the sequel to hook up would have married sooner (they did in the books) and the movie is so much later made than the first two, anne looks considerably older. making it seem as if they waited WAY too long to marry. but the story is a good one and full of emotion and adventure. In the books anne and gilbert marry and are happy and have loads of children. but as far as the movie goes i think it was still a great movie. ... Read more

When it comes to an expressive set of lungs for horror, it's hard to match Jamie Lee Curtis, who set the standard for nonstop screaming in Halloween. She built her reputation as a scream queen in such subsequent outings as The Fog, Terror Train, and this similarly themed and relatively subpar horror outing. A progenitor of I Know What You Did Last Summer, this film focuses on four high school friends on prom night who are being stalked by a masked maniac seeking revenge for a death that occurred six years earlier. 3-0 out of 5 stars Prom Night not bad but not for everyone
The only reason i saw this movie in the first place is because i saw jamie lee curtis was in it so i thought it couldnt be that bad because i loved halloween and terror train. I also thought it was funny that leslie nielsen was in it. I saw wrongfully accused not long before that so i though it was funny seeing leslie try to do a serious role. The plot of this movie is about a group of kids who accidentally kill a fellow classmate while playing a game and then make a pact never to tell anyone about it. Years pass and then its time for the kids senior prom. Leslie Nielsen plays the schools principal he is also the murdered girls father. Jamie lee plays the girls sister and Leslie's daughter. While at the prom an on looker of the murder years back is there to seek revenge and one by one murders the victim's killers. Good who done it kind of movie. Mostly recommended just for fans of jamie lee or a good slasher flick.

1-0 out of 5 stars I have to admit it...(* 1/2)
No matter how many times I try to like this movie, I always can't help but think it SUCKS. And the thing is, I SHOULD like it. It's from the early 80's, it's a slasher movie, AND it has disco in it! But I CAN'T! It's not scary at all, and the action doesn't start till 20 mintues 'till the end! The prom part is boring, but everything leading up to the prom is VERY boring. The only good thing about "Prom Night" are the clothes, hair, and music.

4-0 out of 5 stars Prom Night
Prom Night is an 80's horror flick that is a great example of a guilty pleasure. This is probably one of my favorite eighty slashers. The acting is pretty bad, but I enjoyed the plot and thougt that it gave a great ending. The dialogue is cheesy which is acceptable since it's a horror movie.Jamie Lee Curtis does a good job as always with a not so well known cast.I also enjoy these movies were the killer is a red herring.Anyone who is in to the genre will definetly appreciate this film.If you not a fan of the genre though you may not enjoy it as much.I've been looking all over for this DVD and can't wait to get it!Make sure you check it out.A girl plummets to her death while fleeing from the taunts of four vicious classmates. Years pass: it is now prom night for the children who survived the incident, and someone -- or some thing -- is taking vengeance against them for their childhood sin. One by one, they drop.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jamie Lee Curtis Is....... DA BOMB!!!!!!
Prom Night is a verrrryyyy great Horror Flick!!!
Jamie Lee Curtis isn't Afraid to Fight in this movie!!!!
I can't tell you who the Killer is, but.... Ahh just watch the Movie, you'll see....
a little hint: it has a sad ending...

2-0 out of 5 stars Not The Worst Movie I've Ever Seen But Close To It!
After seeing the movie Halloween also starring Jamie Lee Curtis I naturally thought I would like Prom Night but I was really disappointed with this movie and think we wasted money going to see it and wonder why Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielsen even agreed to be in this movie. I will rate this 2 stars because I have seen worse movies but it's pretty bad. Just my opinion. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Dreamers
This is a lovely life-affirming movie. It has everything: lovely screnery, poetry and great characters who are at once vulnerable, intelligent and courageous. It is the story of love between a husband and wife, and the dedication of a doctor to his patients under difficult circumstances. There is a triumph of goodness here that makes this movie very special.

5-0 out of 5 stars an on-screen poem

what a great movie. not only does it portray the subjugation and liberation of the female spirit but also a love and vitality for life that bridges traditions, systems and prejudices. great movie. i have it on laser disc and would like to get it on dvd and video.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, heartwarming
I've been looking to purchase this movie (on VHS or DVD) for a long time, but it always seems to be out of print. This is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful movie; FANTASTIC DVD!
Detroit Rock City is not about KISS--It's about real guys who will do almost anything to achieve a goal--and discover much about their own independence as they attempt to reach those dreams. MUCH lambasted by the critics, this film perhaps is best left to DVD viewing--and the DVD has wonderful features, including 3 different commentary tracks. Sam Huntington (Jungle 2 Jungle) and Giuseppe Andrews (Independence Day) stand out most as the "star" actors -- and they do a great job. Huntington's mother in the film, Lin Shaye, was amazing. The film is a bit tacky on occasion, but I must say from one whose late junior and early senior year was 1978--this film truly captures the obsession many of my friends had with KISS. Unfortunately, many young people look at this and think it's too dated as a movie about KISS (it's not); and many my age will think it's just another teen flick (it's not). But it's much more, a film with heart. Now if they just didn't use the "f" word so much........

5-0 out of 5 stars Snide, sexist, fun...Man, we need more movies like this!
Awesome. I'm a longhaired teenage metalhead and I hate KISS and I love this film in extremes. Just the most fun you can really have with a movie in years, and so much better than boring comedies like American Pie and Austin Powers 2. And you can't go wrong with Lin Shaye's performance as the mom, absolutely wonderful, reminds us all of the things we hate about our parents perfectly potrayed together. This film also contains what I feel is the greatest bathroom scene of all time, got to love that low brow humour at work. The DVD is packed full, with 3 audio commentaries loads of behind the scenes stuff, music videos, script on DVD Rom and on and on, more loaded than any other DVD I've seen. Best DVD for 99, better than Matrix without a doubt in my book. Sure the movie would be heaven if another band was the center piece, something like set in the 90's with a bunch of dudes going to see Strapping Young Lad and beating up korn fans on the way, with a death metal soundtrack...or don't change the setting and make it Black Sabbath as the band, a minor gripe....but hey I'll take this anyday as it is, just glad it was made. We need more movies like this that are completely politically incorrect, sexist, snide, mean-spirited, over the top funny and won't make any apologies for it by teaching us some boring morals lessons (Ala American Pie). Definately a great long-haired stoner film, and great film for all. Look for yourself, not one negative review for it on Amazon yet. Screw morals, let's rock and roll and pass the bong.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Soul Of Rock n' Roll
"Detroit Rock City" is a film that is excellently staged and acted. It captures well the atmosphere of the time period. It also captures excently the true soul of Rock n' Roll, and what it really means for people. With perfect actors for the characters, vivid imagery, and just the right amount of quirkyness, "Detroit Rock City" is a fun movie that you will never get tired of.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic and average, but enjoyable
If you're a Kiss fan -- and I am -- this is a freaking GREAT movie. But as a movie on its own merit it's at best an average attempt at the coming-of-age tale of four boys on their way to capture the Holy Grail. I'll get the bad stuff out of the way first...

The script has a good story, but the dialogue is mediocre most of the time. Having the script polished up by a veteran writer would have made this a fantastic movie. There's not enough character development and too many predictible "Oops-there's-another-easily-avoided-circumstance-bound-to-cause-our-heroes-problems" scenarios. Of course, these circumstances are the basis for the whole movie, but they could have been made a bit more plausible.

The "bad guys" - notably the anti-Kiss mother, twisted schoolmaster and Catholic priest - are cardboard cutouts of the worst possible stereotypes and are almost impossible to watch. Growing up amidst the hieght of the anti-Kiss crusade, I'll be the first to admit there were some pretty strange folks out there picketing concerts. But they were more frightening than funny.

Now the good stuff.

The boys are funny. Their exploits - no matter how stupid - are pretty humorous. The scene with our heroes practicing as a Kiss copy band in the basement will certainly tug at the hearts and minds of any Kiss fan. How many guitars have been purchased and played by no-talent fans just because of Ace Frehley? These guys exemplify that spirit in a wonderfully entertaining manner. The accuracy of the period references is another thing that really "makes" this film. From the opening scene where mom is sifting through vinyl (!) recordings of Manilow, the Carpenters, etc., the film is full of tidbits all too familiar to those of us who grew up in the seventies. My personal favorite is the gold Trans-am full of decked-out disco enthusiasts driving down the highway singing and "acting" to David Naughton's tragic "Makin' It." I laughed out loud and any chiold of the 70's will too.

The final scene, wherein the boys get into the show (hardly a spoiler here) is good if only for the accuracy of the Love Gun stage show. A great deal of attention to detail obviously went into this scene and it pays off. And Peter Criss actually gets a dramatic moment elusive to his bandmates for a change!

The DVD is worth getting for Kiss fans mainly because there's a multi-angle version of the song "Detroit Rock City" in the "Cutting Room" section of special features. With fire-breathing, smoking guitars, and the whole bit compressed into one song, this one special feature does in three minutes what the poorly edited "Kiss Symphony" DVD was unable to do in two hours - capture the magic of a Kiss show from the fans' point of view.

Three stars - one for the special feature multi-angle song, one for capturing the true spirit of the average Kiss fan, one for the tasty pop-culture references.

5-0 out of 5 stars supa rad movie, supa rad dvd...wat more can i say?
This is an awsome movie!! If you haven't seen it go out and rent it or, buy it w/e i don't care, today...it really is one of my all time favorite movies (the others being dazed and confused, almost famous, adn fast times) This movie is kickass! The soundtrack is great too. This movie makes me wish i lived in the 70's. and all the main characters are hotta!! Anyway you don't have to be a kiss fan to watch this movie, but if you are it won't dissapoint you...Ok well um i'm gong to stop writing now...so go out to your local video store and get this movie you won't regret it...well at least if you have any taste in movies you won't. ... A film adaptation of the famous play by Peter Shaffer, Equus starsRichard Burton (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, 1984) asMartin Dysart, a psychiatrist who takes on an unusual case: a youngstable boy (Peter Firth, The Hunt for Red October) who, in a frenzy, has blindedsix horses. Their sessions reveal that the boy has aquasi-religious fetish for horses and he rides them in the dead of night, experiencing an ecstasy unlike anything Dysart has ever known. Dysartbegins to question: Is the pursuit of normalcy worth the loss ofindividual passions? Equus features a lot of hokum--its therapyscenes are absurd crescendos of revelation and insights. But its centralquestion has substance, the direction is energetic, and the performancesare powerful; Burton, handsome and haggard, brings a complex self-loathingto his role. 5-0 out of 5 stars POWERFUL PSYCHOLOGICAL DRAMA....
Absolutely stunning film version of the Tony-winning play. Richard Burton is fine as psychiatrist Dr.Dysart who tackles a disturbing case involving a young stablehand, Alan(Peter Firth) who has inexplicably blinded six horses. Alan has become obsessed with the mythological horse god Equus and secretly worships horses in religious/sexual frenzy. Dysart (who has problems of his own) tries to uncover what led up to the mutilations and discovers the boy's parents were aware of some of his strange rituals but coldly did nothing. Joan Plowright is excellent as the mother who reveals too late her own shortcomings. Beautiful Jenny Agutter is also fine as the girl whose seduction of Alan in the stables leads to the tragic occurrance... but Peter Firth is simply fantastic as the mentally fragile Alan. His performance carries the film and his role requires him to be nude through much of it. But titillating this is not. It is a wrenching film and the blinding of the horses is almost unbearable to watch. This is the kind of film that challenges the viewer and leaves much open for discussion. On that level alone, it is recommended highly. Others beware that the bizarre subject matter may put some viewers off. Nonetheless, it's an excellent film and an unusual journey into the psyche of a most unusual (and sad) young man. Excellent direction by Sidney Lumet. Rather "bare bones" DVD but it looks and sounds great. A collector's item.

2-0 out of 5 stars Something Went Horribly Wrong!
Directed by Sidney Lumet, creator of Network, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon and The Pawnbroker; with the screenplay written by Peter Shaffer, the author of the original play, which is one of the great plays of the Twentieth Century; and starring Richard Burton, one of our finest dramatic actors; the movie version of EQUUS should have been both a thrilling visual and emotional experience. Something, however, went horribly wrong in translating the play to the screen. Nothing seems to work. For example, the blinding of the horses in the stage production is totally believable and so overpowering. Using men wearing metal horses' heads works completely. The similar scenes in the movie with actual horses are so brutal as to be almost unwatchable. The nudity is not at all gratuituous in the play but seems unnecessary in the movie adaptation. The spare set complements the acting in the play and is so effective. That is all of course lost in the movie version. Martin Dysart's talking to the audience is so moving in the play; in the movie it comes off simply as both artificial and boring. (It doesn't help matters that Burton has three volumnes: loud, much louder and too loud.) The psychiatrist's musings as to whether the young man should be "fixed" and brought into the mainstream but never be able to "run" free again are at the heart of the play; here they just appear trite.

Not every great work of art can be translated into another medium. I'm not sure this great play could ever be made into a good movie. Maybe a film should have been made of a good stage production in order that this truly great play could be seen by a larger audience.

4-0 out of 5 stars Doctor must help a teenage boy with a horse and sex.
Richard Burton narrates to the audience and stars as a psychiatrist who is to help an english teenage boy, Alan (Peter Firth), who seems to be out of touch of reality. He loves horses and dreams of horses. Alan must see the psychiatrist every day and make progress or he will end up in a mental hospital. He is not allowed to watch television according to his parents, but remebers specific jingles and repeats them often. His behavior at times is erratic. Dr. Martin Dysart had odd dreams of his own and must get to the root of Alan's problem. Alan will relay to Dr. Dysart his own memories as a child and his obsession for a horse. ADULTS ONLY! Includes full frontal male and female nudity and sexual situations. Cast also includes Joan Plowright, Colin Blakly and Kate Reid. Richard Burton and Peter Firth were both nominated for an Academy Award.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Dialogue and The Experience of Therapy
"Equus" restored my faith in Sidney Lumet after watching a few of his films that bombed. Lumet transfers the stage play beautifully to the screen, exploring an interesting case of a boy who has blinded six horses. Richard Burton is magnificent and one of the only actors that can carry on long-winded dialogues with conviction. Equally able is the deranged boy (played by Peter Firth) who cross-examines Burton, knocking him off his feet in a similar manner to Matt Damon in "Good Will Hunting."

"Equus" explores what it means to be normal. Burton's character realizes that being normal, to a certain degree, is having abnormalities. Peter Firth's character has a worship that is more passionate and alive than most human beings ever feel-certainly more than Burton's character. Burton longs to have the boy's passion and yet realizes that he is trying to free the boy from these feelings as he is doing so. He muses over the meaning of his life and the therapy he gives. If he can never understand "why" a child acts the way it does, is there any point to therapy?

While this movie starts out with a completely absurd and twisted plot, it eventually fades into a very believable plot line. As Burton pulls the information from Firth's head and we witness the boy's instable home life and threatening religious background, the plot becomes normal and we come to understand the boy's situation. The movie becomes clear as the boy's troubles become clear. The effect of this is that we experience the therapy along with Peter Firth. This is masterfully done and Lumet should be applauded.

My only complaint about the movie is that it is a little long-winded. However, the dialogue is top-notch and the acting is incredible. If you're a fan of Richard Burton and his monologue performances driven by a play-adaptation, get this film.

1-0 out of 5 stars Equus = no good...
The stableboy is
a monster who should have been put to death for his acts. The film is a horrible waste of time, and yet another example of the worst of the '70s attempts to show how a film adaptation of a novel and stage play can be put to the screen and still manage to rope in suckers and even win some awards. These types of films generally suck plain and simple, but this is among the notoriously worst of its kind. Would you care about the boys psychological make-up and rehibilitation if he had done this cruel act to a group of children? I think not. Richard Burton is better served in films such as 'Candy' and 'Bluebeard' - Stick to comedies, horror films and period pieces and forget this bogged down, heavyweight crappola! Sentimental poop! God rest Richard Burton's soul for this one!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Christmas Wife
The Christmas Wife has been one of my all time favorite movies for over 10 years now and I never get tired of watching it.
As a matter of fact I watch it at least 3 times every Christmas season and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes good sentimental movies.

4-0 out of 5 stars Understanding loss
This short drama was satisfying to watch even though there wasn't much action. It was almost like a two-person play. It tells how an apparently strong person copes with the dramatic change in his life caused by the death of his dear spouse. Christmas traditions are not the same, so the widower adapts by renting a companion. Jason Robards and Julie Harris are delightful to watch, so professional.

3-0 out of 5 stars sweet
The acting is good, however it does leave one guessing.

The actors are a delight and they do maintain the viewers interest. HOWEVER; The ending of this picture leaves one suspended above the play.
To me, this film is a fill in the blanks movie that leaves the viewer wondering if this is all there is. Still I found it a delight to watch and a very wholesome picture.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fix some hot chocolate and start a fire in the fireplace...
This is a surprisingly good drama for a lazy, frosty, Christmas-season evening. It's well-acted, well-written, and well-crafted -- definitely sentimental, but without being fluffy or soppy. The cast is led by veteran acting greats Jason Robards and Julie Harris, which in itself should make the movie worth a consideration.

Robards portrays John Tanner, a recent widower who doesn't quite know what to do with the changes imposed upon his life. When the annual family trip to the cabin for Christmas is jeopardized, he attempts to rescue his traditions in a radical way: he finds a dating service and "hires" a woman to be his family and spend the Christmas weekend with him. Julie Harris is the sad, perceptive, and mysterious woman, Iris, who agrees to be his "Christmas wife" - but only if he will ask her no questions about herself.

This is a quality "G" movie (at least, the version shown on television). At the risk of sounding sexist, I would say this is a woman's movie, but some men may find it not objectionable. Children may not be interested in a character (as opposed to action) movie about middle-aged people, but if they are, their parents won't have to worry about what they're watching. Adults who have some experience with age or loneliness may discover a tale striking quite a responsive chord.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Over 50", Life 101
If you're over 50 this movie will be a great rainy afternoon delight. It is NOT a comedy! It is a hard look at life and what it brings. Jason Robards and Julie Harris are two of the classic actors of the last century. Just to see them act together is enough, but the sweet story of how life throws rocks in our path and the way we remove them is great! Treat yourself to perfection! ...

This short drama was satisfying to watch even though there wasn't much action. It was almost like a two-person play. It tells how an apparently strong person copes with the dramatic change in his life caused by the death of his dear spouse.

4-0 out of 5 stars Clever story, good actors
I enjoyed this 4th installment of the Apocalypse series. It shows a little more character depth than in the previous movies. It also has a wonderful story that can show that God can truly change a man's heart.

In this movie, the Anti-Christ played by Nick Mancuso uses the law to sway more people to follow Satan. While the defense attorney play by Corbin Bernstein deals with his own conumdrum sitting on the fense between God and the Anti-Christ while defending a Christian in court for nothing more than being a Christian. It is a powerful interpretation of the possible events to come in the End of Days.

5-0 out of 5 stars A scary look at the not too distant future.
Judgement, another film by Cloud Ten picture, continues the story of Helen Hannah and her band of freedom fighters and their battle against anti-christ. This one also stars Corbin Benson and Mr T!!

The christians, who are labelled as haters, are set-up by the ungodly government of the time as being terrorists and are tried in court for their hate-crimes. The trial soon takes a turn when the anti-christ decides to put God on trial! The film then becomes a court room drama and is very interesting to watch.

What really strikes me about this movie is the way the christians are labelled as "haters" and how this resembles the world we live in today. In my country there is currently a court case in progress where some ministers are being labelled as "haters" because they are preaching the gospel and managed to offend some people. This is only happening because of a "religious tolerance law" that has been passed here of recent times. It seems that tolerance only goes one way though, be tolerant of all religions except christianity is the order of the day. We don't have to wait for an anti-christ governmment, it's on our doorstep already.

Enjoy this movie and let it lead you to learn to think for yourself.

Thanks for reading.

4-0 out of 5 stars I liked it!(Didn't expect to)
It's an end-times movie, at least, it qualifies as one. There's the antichrist(portrayed by Nick Mancuso on par with left behind's Gordon Curie), there's the Christian Minority, and then, there's the rest of the gullible world. Although, it doesn't exactly stick to the biblical endtimes, it projects the same message, the man of sin rules the world for a period, therefore this is an entirely feasible plotline. You also have the person who is on the fence and who witnesses the miracle of faith(Corbin Bensen).

It has a charm that's all its own, the trial is the highlight, watch it for that.

4-0 out of 5 stars when 2 + 2 = 5
As we find ourselves tumbling into an upside-down world, where misinformation is "news" and truth is in scarce supply, this is a thought-provoking film, well acted and scripted, with a few action scenes thrown in for good measure.
It is a B movie with A+ entertainment value, and doesn't leave you with that "why did I waste my time on that dribble" feeling afterwards.

Some of the acting is exceptional; Leigh Lewis is excellent as Helen Hannah, who is jailed for "crimes" she did not commit, and Nick Mancuso is marvelous as the slithery and suave Anti-Christ, Franco Macalousso, ruler of the ultimate tyranny, a one-world government, who with his velvety-voiced delivery says the qualities he admires in a man are "self-centeredness, self-pity, pride and vengefulness".
Corbin Bernsen is convincing as the defense attorney, who has to decide which master he will serve, and get off the fence he has been sitting on all of his empty life, with a bottle for comfort.

Throroughly enjoyable is Mr. T, as a man who realizes that one has to confront the wicked, at whatever cost ("all is takes for evil to prosper is for good people to do nothin'"). Though not a "master actor", his charisma fills the screen when he's on camera.

With a fine score by Gary Koftinoff, and well-paced direction by Andre van Heerden, who also co-wrote the clever script with Peter and Paul Lalonde, this is a low-buget film that gives us viewing value, with something to think about while we watch. Total running time 1 hour and 40 minutes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best in the series!
"God vs. Man" is the basic premise of this story. Set in the near future, humanity has experienced a devestating incident--millions of people suddenly disappeared worldwide. The chaos that follows unites the nations under a global government led by Nick Mancouso.

The government line is that those who disappeared were reactionary religionists who served to retard humanity's evolution toward spiritual unity and enlightenment. Anti-government rebels claim that the global leader is the biblical anti-Christ of the New Testament book of Revelation, and that those who disappeared were Christians, whom God had taken up to heaven, just prior to a period of great judgment.

Accusations are tossed back and forth, and ultimately Helen Hannah, the leader of the rebels, is captured and put on trial for treason against humanity. However, her defense attorney says Hannah is not to blame--that she is a deluded follower of God--and that it is God who should be on trial.

The dialogue and plot are much crisper than previous ones in this series. The attorneys are passionate, yet cool and persuasive. The protaganist is both vulnerable and resolute--a powerfully nuanced combination that is most believable.

A subplot, in which those in the rebel camp argue over how much violence they can use for their cause, proved a messier storyline. It might have helped the overall product to drop this element, and enhance the main battle a bit more.

Overall, this was an excellent product--the most professional of the set. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars an on-screen poem
sometimes i question if all films aren't just a form of escapism & a sad distraction from life... then my very essence swells & soars when encountering such beautiful & inspirational works as this! go ahead & rent it the first time, i can't imagine you won't be checking back here hoping to find a copy of your own to cherish & share with others.

5-0 out of 5 stars A DAY IN THE LIFE ... A GREAT TRIP !
This movie will touch the hearts of any Beatles fan. The two actors who portray Lennon & McCartney really nailed down the personaltities, if not, on some occasions ... their appearance. Going back to '76 .. a time when there was still that possibility of the Beatles getting back together .. we still had John, we still had George. This infamous meeting has been mentioned in books .. All throughout the '70s .. we never even saw a picture of John & Paul together! This movie is a real treat .. it's like taking that trip back in time & never wanting it to end. You want to go back & spend another day with your heroes ... you want history to be changed .. you want to GET BACK to where you once belonged!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It really feels like you are witnessing John & Paul together again in a chance meeting in '76.

5-0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING
This movie is exceptional in every way. The actors are completely committed, and I fully believed I was watching Lennon and McCartney interact. Furthermore--and something people have yet to mention--the screenplay is loaded with details of these two men from the period in which the movie takes place and written with a palpable warmth and love for John and Paul without being syrupry, cliched, or sentimental. As a die hard Beatles fan who has read more than 40 books on these two geniuses, this was the movie I had always wanted to see. The experience stayed with me for days. I waited for a long time to see the release of this film on DVD.

Michael Linsey-Hogg, the director of Let It Be, weaves fact and fiction into a compelling movie about two of the greatest personalities of our generation.

McCartney comes off a bit too warm in this but its hard to see that as a flaw. Reputed to be a 'cool' person at the best of times perhaps we see through to the real Paul. Lennon on the other hand is accurately portrayed from the clowning to the acid wit he was so well known for.

While the actors don't physically resemble John and Paul that well they certainly come across as them if you just squint your eyes and pretend a little.

Best moments in the movie:

McCartney in a heartfelt moment telling John how during the break up of the Beatles he felt as though he was losing his best friend. Lennons acid response. "We were never that close mate".

A scene in Central Park with the two of them in disguise. Reminiscent of A Hard Days Night is the exchange between them and two mounted police. We laughed out loud at this one and the scene just felt right.

A scene in a restaurant when an elderly couple finally get there nerve up to approach John. They make the gaffe of requesting that he sing a few bars of Yesterday (Pauls song). Lennons response again had us laughing out loud and again it felt as though it really was John saying it.

The best moment of all is one with John and Paul on the roof of the Dakota. I won't attempt to describe this one but it brought tears to my eyes and confirmed to me that the chemistry between John and Paul was truly magic.

This movie brings back a little of the joy the Beatles brought to the world way back when. A celebration of John and Paul and the real world magic of Beatle music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fooled me!
When I first heard about this film, I thought, "Harris and Quinn?" How will they pull it off? For one thing, there was the item of physical non-resemblance. But with the addition of a little nose putty, I was suprised to be able to see Lennon quite easily in Harris. Quinn's physical resemblance to McCartney is even more remote (you can add putty to a nose but you can't perform rhinoplastic reduction with makeup!), but factor in the clothes and hair and he comes closer. But it's the body language and speech which make him convincing. I didn't notice in the credits if there was a vocal coach, but if there was, he/she knows his/her stuff. If the actors developed their own accents and cadences, that's even more to their credit. They obviously studied these men assiduously. In some scenes I found myself feeling horribly sentimental, being of a "certain age." The picture is nicely staged, paced, and photographed. Entertaining start to finish.
