Except for feature-length animation, the musical has gone the way of the dinosaur. The Walt Disney company took a stab at reviving the live-action musical in 1992 with Newsies, a throwback picture with a curious subject. In 1899, the pint-sized newsboys delivering the New York papers go on strike against the unfair practices of news magnates Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst. The production is heavy on kiddie humor, although Christian Bale (the child star of Spielberg's Empire of the Sun) is charismatic as one of the older leaders of the revolt. The adult stars don't fare as well, with Robert Duvall doddering around as Pulitzer and Ann-Margret and Bill Pullman doing decorative duty. The film was not well received when first released, but hindsight reveals its charm (and allowed the young target audience to catch up with the picture on video). The first-time director is Kenny Ortega, the choreographer of Dirty Dancing, who brings plenty of energy to the action. --Robert Horton ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply in the wrong place at the wrong time
The world was not ready for a return to the days of the movie-musical when "Newsies" was released in 1992. A box-office flop, it has quickly risen to cult classic status with fans everywhere. Newsies is based on the true story of the New York newsboys' strike of 1899. Granted, Disney is guilty of "improving the truth a little", but doesn't any musical, where people break out in spontaneous song and dance, require one to put reality aside for a while? This film tells the tale of the newsies, led by tough, street-smart Jack Kelly (Christian Bale) and intelligent, reasonable David Jacobs (David Moscow), who form a union when Joseph Pulitzer (Robert Duvall) ups the price of newspapers from fifty to sixty cents a hundred. The street children - with names like Racetrack (Max Casella), a compulsive gambler who steals many scenes with his wisecracks - are aided by a newspaper reporter named Brian Denton (Bill Pullman). Together the unlikely company endures many troubles, including run-ins with the police and their leader's betrayal, throughout the strike. The actors are believable as poor orphans and runaways during the turn of the century, and one look at any of them shows that they've poured their heart and soul into this movie. The lack of depth in some characters - especially Sarah (Ele Keats) and Medda Larkson (Ann-Margret), roles that serve no discernable purpose other than sex appeal - is my only qualm with the film. Looking past that and the many continuity errors (some of which are actually quite amusing), this is a highly enjoyable movie for the entire family to share. Not a masterpiece, but plenty of entertainment!

5-0 out of 5 stars Extra! Extra! See All About It!
An uplifting story portraying the greatest accomplishment children have made in our entire lifetime. Well directed by Kenny Ortega with amazing choreography (Kenny Ortega/Peggy Holmes) with amazing music by Alan Menken and creative lyrics by Jack Feldman. This motion picture has a wonderful cst including stars such as Robert Duvall (Joeseph Pulitzer), Ann-Margret (Medda Larkson), and Christian Bale (Jack Kelly). Other actors in this film include David Moscow, Aaron Lohr, Max Casella, Gabriel Damon, Luke Edwards and many more.
Set in 1899, this courageous group of newsboys from New York City, organize with other newsies from all to take on the most powerful man in New York City, newspaper giant Joeseph Pulitzer, to make their dreams come true. Through all the difficulties, the boys stay srong and become unlikely heroes by challenging the powerful.
After seeing it in my history class, i soon became a big fan and have researched everything from the actors to the acrual story. this motion picture gives accurate information and is fun for the whole family.

Wow. This movie has got to be one of the best ever. I was visiting a friend in St. Louis who had gone to a musical camp, and they watched it there, and she made her mom go out and get it for us. We watched it 5 times! It really is that good. It's got great singing and dancing, an awesome story line, catchy songs, and plus it's based on real events. And Christian Bale is sooooo cute! If you haven't seen it yet, go rent it NOW!

5-0 out of 5 stars NEWSIES IS THE BEST!!!!! I love this movie!
Well, if you didn't already read my title NEWSIES IS THE BEST! And I love it. It's a great story about friendship and sticking up for what you believe in. Plus, it's Christian Bale and David Moscow...how can you go wrong with those two! I love the singing and dancing too. If you love the music as much as I did I suggest you buy the soundtrack because it's awesome! I'm telling you girls, if you have a bad day, pop this movie in and watch it. I mean it's a bunch of cute boys singing and dancing...it works everytime. I recomend this movie to anyone who likes musicals, boys, and great Disney magic. Watch it...trust me. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Movie, Bad DVD
First of all, the previous reviewer is mistaken, this is NOT a Disney movie but a Don Bluth movie (the one who also made An American Tail). This is a great movie, like An American Tail, and has a great score composed by James Horner and played by the London Symphony Orchestra (with the King's College Choir). The animation is pretty decent, some of the scenes (like the one near the end where Spike and Ducky slide across a shallow pool of water) are very nice. The story is pretty basic, but enjoyable for kids and adults (I saw this as a teen in the theaters). The characters are mostly very cute and charming, especially Ducky and Petri.

And YET, this DVD sucks really bad and no one should buy it. This DVD is NOT widescreen or anamorphic at all. It's pretty shameful when EVEN Disney is making their DVDs widescreen. Furthermore, there are absolutely NO extras on this DVD. I would have especially appreciated to have trailers, tv spots, audio commentary by Bluth (or others), making of feature, etc. At the very least, widescreen and a trailer. Yes, this is a children's movie, but that doesn't mean it has to be fullscreen! It doesn't take much to put in both full and widescreen versions either. The same goes for "The Secret Of NIMH," another Bluth film given the fullscreen treatment.

BOYCOTT THIS ANNOYING DVD AND DEMAND THAT THEY RELEASE A WIDESCREEN COLLECTOR'S EDITION OF THIS REALLY GREAT MOVIE!!

You'll be happy you did!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST!!
The first Land Before Time will always be the best. To me, Part 4 was the best sequel.(I only saw Parts 1-5). This movie descends from being a "family dinosaur" movie. First of all, it tells the simple story of a baby dinosaur being left alone in a touching and vulnerable way. The hatching scene is still memorable. Then, it transits into a whole different thing. Different dinosaurs of different species come together to make the track to the Great Valley. They all had different personalites: a likable pterdactyl trying to learn to fly, a happy-go-lucky water dinosaur, a dominating triceratops, a simple spiked dinosaur, and a brontasaurus who brought out the best in everyone. Also, it seemed to be interesting of how they would trap Sharp-Tooth, and how they had names for all the dinosaurs like"long neck". It's so, how do I say, cute? They have all different kinds of adventures, and a great lesson in friendship.

I still can't understand how so many sequels were made. What's so different about them? Sequels 2-4 were good, but after that the plots were all just deja vu. It's always about dinosaurs, or change, or metoers, or whatever. It sounds like they just teach the same lessons over and over: the benefits of friendship. If you liked this movie, you might want to see Parts 2,3,and 4. See, the sequels just ignore the plots of the last, and start a big cliche all over agian. I hear they'll be a part 8. It should be called The Land Before Time: Enough Already!

So, please see the land before time, one of the most decent animated films I've ever seen. It'll be worthwhile. I guarentee.

4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent adaption!
It amazes me that none of the previous reviews mentions the comic by Winsor McCay! This is truly one of the most faithful adaptions to the ideas of any work that I have seen. Winsor McCay would be proud.

Mickey Rooney does a fine job as Flick, the shifty and miscievous imp. I have read that French artist Jean Giraud (aka Moebius), and Ray Bradbury are both involved with this film. It shows.

This movie has an interesting plot, fascinating characters, and beautiful animation. As with most good films, there are occasional scenes which may frighten younger viewers (anyone remember the witch from Disney's Snow White?) but do not let this dissuade you from giving this film a try if you can find it.

My only complaint was the superfluous character, Icarus. At least this time the "cute animal" was relatively low key and did not distract from the rest of the film.

I hope that it is re-released post-haste!

4-0 out of 5 stars why isn't this on dvd?
this was one of my favorite films when i was a child. it's hard to believe i'd forgotten about it until just a few hours ago... long story short, i may not remember names, but i remember everything else. the king's train, those creepy tree monsters, flip, iccarus, how could i possibly forget all these wonderful images of pure animation bliss? when i was a little kid, and this movie was on tv all the time, i'd get up early to watch it. it had everything an animated film need to achieve handdrawn entertainment nirvana. why don't the make movies like this in america? And why isn't this on dvd? I would pay anything you asked me to if someone would please tell me where i can get one? I need to relive this fantasy again

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite animated film of all time
When I was small, I was completely obsessed with Disney cartoons.I had them all, and still do, although, its been a while since I've popped one into the player. But to this day, and I think even when I am 40,60,80 I will NEVEREVEREEVER get tired of this miraculous animated gem! This film proves that animation can be more than just a way to keep the little kids distracted.Little Nemo transports you into a whole 'nother magical world-you feel the dazzling atmosphere of the places Little Nemo visits all the way through. The animation is brilliant, and unique, making the journey all the more delicious to watch.

Little Nemo is an animated film like no other. It takes you to a world you have never seen before. It is dazzling, and atmospheric and miraculously pleasurable, and I urge any person out there, whatever your tastes in film to curl up with this delightful animated gem for the heart, soul and senses.

*I don't care how corny my review just was because I love love love this movie.I loved it as a small kid, and I still love to curl up to it now. It's genius

5-0 out of 5 stars It Seemed So Much Longer
This has to be one of my favorite kids movies of ALL time. The last time I saw it I was 4 probably and i could remember (almost everything) it like it was yesterday. almost none of my friends had seen it and i went around asking them telling them how wonderful it was so my girlfriend bought it for me for my 15th birthday :) and it is wonderful Everyone should buy it. Young or old

2-0 out of 5 stars 35 million dollars can't turn crap into Gold.
You'd think a 35 million dollar anime would turn out a bit better. I was very surprised at how bad this movie was. I saw this for the first time when I was 8 and I thought it [stunk]. I saw it again recently and it didn't get any better. It's just another example of a movie that tells too much story in a short amount of time. They should have used that money to make this into a standard 26 episode T.V. series or an OVA series. On top of that, Nemo and the Princess's recording sessions must have been done in one take or something because they sound HORRIBLE!! The poor sound quality didn't help either. I will give it some points for the great looking animation and the good music. This is what happens when you put all of your money into making the movie look good and not paying attention to anything else. Not recomended to anyone. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a movie sequel
Most sequels to great movies aren't very good, but "Robocop 2" is an exception. Robocop (Peter Weller) returns to rid the city of criminals. In this sequel, he's ultimately after the drug lord of the city, Cain (Tom Noonan). But the road to finding Cain won't come easy, especially not after Robocop gets torn to pieces by some of Cain's people. However, Robocop does finally meet Cain face to face, except that Cain isn't human anymore, he's a cyborg just like Robocop himself, and an evil one at that.

I don't see how anybody could give "Robocop 2" a bad rating because it's a great sequel. It has a little bit of dark humor such as a commercial where a woman puts on blue suntan lotion that has a caution reading: "Using this too much can cause cancer." And best of all it has spectacular action sequences, especially after Robocop and Cain finally meet and start fighting each other. The special effects are great, and Robocop 2 (Cain as a robot) is especially well done with all his weapons and the computer that acts as Cain's brain.

If you like great action movies or if you liked the first "Robocop," I recommend getting "Robocop 2" without thinking twice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic sequel.
Many people hate this movie. I didn't. It is just as good as the original and 1000 times better than #3. Set about one year after the first one (listen to the Old Man"s speech before he introduces Robocop 2), RoboCop is back and this time he's up against druglord Cain (Tom Noonan) and the young Hod (Gabriel Damon). The cops won't do anything because they are still on strike, but RoboCop and his partner Lewis (Nancy Allen) are still in business. RoboCop captures Cain eventually, but OCP, who created RoboCop, creates RoboCop 2 and puts Cain's brain in the machine. Now RoboCop must fight Cain one last time in the building OCP gave to Detroit as "a gift."

This was a good movie, not as bad as some people give it credit for. Peter Weller did a fantastic job as RoboCop. Tom Noonan and Gabriel Damon did just as good. This is one of the best sequels of all time. So remember to buy this and the original and avoid #3 at all costs.

3-0 out of 5 stars Robocop 2 REVIEW
Worthwhile sequel to Verhoven's smash hit, "Robocop" has Weller reprising his role of Alex Murphy, a deceased cop brought back as a machine to fight crime in futuristic Detriot. This time around, Motor City is at war as a dictator-like drug dealer is using his new designer drug, "Nuke" to gather a group of followers. Meanwhile, most of the police force is on strike while Robo's manufacturing company, OCP, wants to take over the bankrupt city. OCP decides to create a newer more stronger "Robocop" but rather than use an actual field officer like they did with Murphy, they turn to the very drug dealer who has turned the city into a war zone. The usual violent mayhem ensues before the two Robocops battle their way through the city in an anti-climatic grudge match. "Robocop 2" is even more violent than the original but it does still feature a lot of the over-the-top humor displayed in its predecessor as well. Fans of the first will enjoy but most others will proably be unimpressed.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fun movie...until it starts taking itself seriously
The first hour of this film was actually kind of fun, but in the middle of the second act the dark humor and self-satire soon gets replaced by violence. And lots of violence. And that means loads o' killing. So if you like bodies getting flung around all over the place, this might be your kind of movie. I think even Joe Bob Briggs would lose count on how mean "dead bodies" this movie has. I don't know if it's action so much as a string of massacres put before the viewer.

And hey...what does every one see in Peter Weller? Saying he's a great actor and all - how can you tell? Most of the time his face is covered save the mouth, and his role calls for no expression in his voice. (...)

And were we supposed to feel bad the bratty kid got killed? You know...the kid who tried to strangle the female lead with wire, killed a few policemen, and then tried to start a drug ring. I don't care if he's 12, you live by the sword you die by sword. Don't play that sad music and have Robocop be all sympathetic! Blech. Puuuuuh-leez.

You know we need more movies where kids die...especially the annoying ones. I'll give this movie that. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars cross at the traffic lights
This TVM directed by Larry Elikann isn't as exploitative as the title suggests. Based on the presumably true life story of Beverley Slater, it has a teleplay by Audrey Davis Lenin based on the book by Slater and Frances Spatz Leighton. Slater played by Lindsay Wagner here suffers brain damage with "permanent personality change" after being in a car accident, with Wagner's change being presented by a butch haircut and colorful wardrobe. The resulting amnesia effectively wipes the 15 year history of her marriage to Armand Assante and their 2 children. The treatment includes some positive aspects to the change by mentioning faults of Wagner's past life, and also Assante's resentment of Wagner's loss of memory as his problem. It's actually an interesting study of what it takes to prolong a long term relationship, to keep the other partner interested and not take them for granted. Lenin can be fogiven for the occasional cliche like "They marched into hell and back", there is a Hallmark touch when Wagner has to choose between two gorgeous men who both want her, though her being able to drive comes across as odd when otherwise she needs process cards to complete tasks. Elikann uses a beautiful music score by Laurence Rosenthal to add poetry, psychological depth and emotion to proceedings, as well as a clip from William Wellman's 1937 A Star is Born. In spite of his standard pigeon-macho acting, Assante is a model of patience and consideration, his yelling contextualised, and plenty of his beef on display. The scene where he strips for Wagner has a camp quality as we wait for her approval. Occasionally we are aware of how Wagner is lit - it seems she has a Dietrich key-light - but Elikann doesn't ask too much of her. Although she doesn't have the skill to flood her role with feeling or technique, her likeability helps her play someone in a reflective state. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Capturing an Era Perfectly
For those of us who went through high school in the early 1960's, or the service in that decade or the decade after, this is a wonderful, wonderful, film. Craig Nelson -- much, much, better than in his later "Coach" role -- captures a human decency, patriotism and, yet, sophistication, that shows how servicemen can be devoted to their country and yet not be jingoistic or overly simplistic. His family members -- particularly Cindy Pickett, who plays his wife -- live his military life but also lives of their own, and are perfectly human. The film also captures the news events of the era, particularly the Cuban Missile Crisis, by showing us again what we saw on TV, in large, black & white TVs, at the time.

For those who love flying and airplanes, this is great video -- my young son loves it -- but it's a lot more. This was the pilot for a TV series that lasted about one season. My family have many, but not all, of the TV episodes as well, and we watch them over and over again.

I can't say enough good things about this film, or the TV series that followed it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Iron Maze - Who?
The time - the late 80s.

The place - a Pennsylvania steel town in the grips of a recession.

Against this less-than-pleasant backdrop is set a story of jealousy and violence. Who did what to who? Why did who do what to who? Who is telling the truth about what who did what to who and why who did what to who?

Although this movie should have been good, it comes across as mediocre. The acting is so-so, some sections of the movie seem to wander, it leaves you with the feeling that it should have been better.

Not recomended to anyone. ... Read more

Tequila Sunrise is one of the few action movies that you can watch until the end without ever getting tired of the fast-paced plot involving crime, drugs, money, etc. The dialouge is intense, the actors are great, and the plot doesn't drag on.

Robert Towne is one of Hollywood's most celebrated screenwriters, but because his directorial efforts have been few and far between, anticipation was high when this star-powered crime story was released in 1988. Critical reaction was decidedly mixed, but there's plenty to admire in this silky, visually seductive film about a drug dealer (Mel Gibson) whose best friend from high-school (Kurt Russell) is now working for the Los Angeles sheriff's drug detail. Their personal and professional conflicts are intensified by their love for the same woman, a waitress (Michelle Pfeiffer) at the Italian restaurant they both frequent. There's a big deal going down with a drug lord (the late Raul Julia), but as it twists and turns, Towne's story is really more about personal loyalties and individual honor. And even if it doesn't quite hold together, the movie's got a fantastic look to it (courtesy of the great cinematographer Conrad Hall), and the three stars bring depth and dimension to their well-written roles. --Jeff Shannon ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good Thriller Mel Gibson looks tooclean cut for drug dealing
A Well done film with a somewhat twisted storyline about a a reformed drug dealer Mac,(Gibson)who is trying to get away from the drug life but his longlife best friend Nick Frescia(Russell) who happens to be head of the Narcotics divison of the L.A.P.D is persuaded by a crooked FBI Agent(Walsh) to manufacture evidence agaisnt Mac To put him away for good. Romance Is brought in to the film by the ever so beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer who plays Jo Anne, the ... Resteraunter who is caught between Mac & Nick. The villan Carlos Played by the late Raul Julia did a fantastic job in portraying a sinister villan adding just a touch of humor to the role. The story is often times confusing but the chemistry between the leads makes up for it. This story is more about personal loyalties and regaining indivdual honor. With all the roles well written TEQUILA SUNRISE Is a film that should not be missed.

4-0 out of 5 stars A master piece among crime movies
Tequila Sunrise is an excellent crime/action movie. It has suffered a bit from bad press, which in my opinion is totally unjustified. People have said, that the actors were wasted on this kind of movie. This is nonsense! Tequila Sunrise is one of the best movies in its genre BECAUSE it was made with good, instead of the usual mediocre actors. It shows clearly, that with good acting and a somewhat complecated script a rather unasuming movie can rise to unexpacted heights. Mel Gibson and Kurt Russel are particularly well suited to their respective roles as sympathetic ex-crook and not so sympathetic police officer. Michelle Pfeiffer in a somewhat unusual role as the woman in between these two lends a depth to the part which females in this kind of story usually lack. Finally Raul Julia as a mexican dope smuggler is a very enjoyable sight. You can never really hate him even when he starts issuing execution orders. A pleausre to watch.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Movie
If you looking for a movie with talented actors at acting this is the movie you got to see. If you want to watch a movie with some comody mixed with crime and action with a touch of romance this is the one for you. I am not a huge fan of action movies that always have to have love in the air but this movie isn't bad with the plot it has that the action and romance fall into. If I and other reviewers give this movie five stars you should believe and say so yourself.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST MOVIE EVER
I EXTREMELY HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS MOVIE!! It has everything in it to interest both guys and girls. Mel of course and action. Its also and interesting film that makes you think and pay attention.
MEL IS HOTT!!!!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars waste of talent, time, and money
I had the unfortunate experience of spending money at Blockbuster and renting this dud. With such big name stars, I expected at least a mildly entertaining movie. What I got was one hour of lifeless, drab, big-budget flick. I couldn't bear to watch another minute, thus "Tequila Sunrise" became the first rental I stopped watching since that fateful day I rented "Last Action Hero". The actors seem to be stumbling through their scenes, lending not one iota of believability to their characters. I'm sure Michelle Pfeiffer, Mel Gibson, and Kurt Russell all look at this horrendous piece of garbage as the down point of their careers. I hope the actors had fun making this production; I sure as heck didn't have any fun watching it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars All too RARE! This one IS a Journey to Spirit!
Isn't that what you were looking for? Bright Spirits? Beautiful scenery? Fresh Air? Isn't that why we watch movies in the first place? This movie is truly a blessing, not lending itself to the latest fashion fad in music or dress, it stayed true to the sacredness of life, and that sacredness triumphed all the way through, as it does in real life when we keep that sacredness in tact, without over worrying or fearing. It left me with a good feeling to see people concentrating on the important things for once in a movie without a care, and not the usual teenage "Oh I want to lose my virginity and drunk junk." This one has culture and sacredness in tact, and yes it's an ADVENTURE! Not to mention fun! Especially when you consider that when you learn to listen, Miracles DO happen, and happen WELL. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the best of the 4 Prime Directives series
As a huge Robocop fan, it is easy for me to overlook the flaws and cosmetic blunders and enjoy the meat of the movie: Action. There is lots of good action featuring my favorite character, Robo himself.

In this movie he faces "Robocable," his replacement, and the ensuing battles and chases are excellent.

Don't set hopes too high, but this is worth a look.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tech specs update
It seems that everywhere you look on-line to fine the DVD tech specs you get different answers. Well, I'm here to set things straight.

This R1 release is issued in Anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1) with English Dolby 2.0 Surround. Surprisingly it's a good strong surround mix. Dialogue, despite some negetive reviews of the broadcase version, is strong and easily understandable.

The R2 release however appears to be in Dolby 5.1, which is ashame because the R1 could have benefitted from a 5.1 mix. But anyway...

Picture quality? Pretty good for a TV show. The only issue is with out-of-focus background lights. They have that digital compression "dot crawl". But other than that, all live action and special f/x look extremely sharp and clear.

Just recently bought this series in geer up for the new release of the Robocop Trilogy. Now, I'd like to see the mid-'90s Robocop series released on DVD. The only thing lacking in this series is the lack of use of Robo's automated targeting grid system. I always found that aspect very cool about the theatrical movies.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is NOT Robocop 2!!!!
This is the third of the three made and it is just AWFUL.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not vintage...
Since there were three of these Robocop things and the first one was great and the last one was bloody awful, one might be forgiven for assuming that the second one might not be that bad. But one would be wrong. Avoid.

1-0 out of 5 stars IT'S SAD TO SEE HOW LOW THE ROBOCOP MOVIES HAVE REALLY GONE
IN THE 2ND INSTALLMENT IN THE PRIME DIRECTIVES SERIES, ROBOCOP GOES CRAZY AND STARTS TO WREAK HAVOC ON DETROIT. BUT TROUBLE FOR ROBOCOP SOON COMES WHEN HIS SYSTEM STARTS TO BREAK DOWN ON HIM AND EVEN WORSE IS THE FACT THAT OCP HAS MADE A NEW ROBOCOP TO STOP HIM, WHICH IS MODELED AFTER ROBO'S MURDERED PARTNER, JOHN CABLE. THIS IS VERY VERY BORING AND IT'S VERY VERY POINTLESS. I MUST SAY THAT PAGE FLETCHER IS BY FAR THE WORST ROBOCOP TO EVER APPEAR ON SCREEN. HE MAKES ROBERT JOHN BURKE SEEM LIKE PETER WELLER. WELL, SO FAR, THE 1ST 2 MOVIES IN THE PRIME DIRECTIVES SERIES HAVE BEEN BOTH EQUALLY BORING, I STUTTER TO THINK WHAT PART 3 IS GONNA BE LIKE. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Realistic Movie!
I just rented Social Misfits recently and I would like to say that this movie is powerful, emotional, and moving. The cast was great! And the story line was well thought out. There are not many movies like this, It was one of a kind! Many people can learn from the experiences that these young adults went through. It was realistic and the cast was great! Gabe Damon, Ryan Francis and Tyronne Tann did a wonderful job!!! Good luck to them and the rest of the cast from Social Misfits!!! It was a great movie!!!! Two thumbs up!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing, wonderful, awsome!
Those were just some of the words that came to my mind after seeing Social Misfits. It was deep and made me think, and kept me interested. Tyrone Tann, Gabriel Damon, Ryan Francis, and Elizabeth Huett all did fantastic jobs, as well as everybody else in it. I was literally stunned by the end. It's so well written. I love this movie!

1-0 out of 5 stars A Cheesy Movie
After seeing the movie "Social Misfits", you can definitely tell why the movie never made it big. The actors all look as if their reading right off scripts. It was a low-budget film, but i believe if they would have gotten better actors and a better revised script, it would have had potential. The character (Elizabeth Huett, who I attended school with) Mitsy, who thinks she can fly & says the cheesiest lines) is one of the worst actresses I've ever seen. I'm very sorry, that I can not say much about the movie, but again I will say the movie might have potential! If you want a summary of the movie feel free to email me!

4-0 out of 5 stars good movie, could've been better
This movie portrays the world's problematic teenagers very well to some extent. some of the speeches were unrealistic for your average teenager to actually be expressing to strangers, however, thanks to great acting by Francis, Tann, Huett, Damon, and the rest, the movie's quality was dramatically increased. One problem I personally had with the movie was the ending when all the kids were talking about what they were thinking. If you ask me, it was kind of cheesy. Overall this movie was well-written, had great actors and actresses, and had all the drama needed to keep a movie viewer inrigued throughout the film.

3-0 out of 5 stars At least it has Charlie Talbert.
Social Misfits is a movie you can pretty much enjoy if you take the characters into account individually. I say this because, in general, the film's pretty stagnant. The writing was dull (even awful at times); some of the acting was questionable; the motives of the film are rather contradicting; the music was terrible and could have done better.

There are some good points, too. Some of the other acting, in particular by Damon, De La Fuente, Tann, and Huett, was wonderful. However, it is Charlie Talbert's short "moment" that truly saves this film. He plays Kyle the Klepto in this film and his performance, though short, is magical to watch. His starring role was in "Angus" (1995), of which he was terrific in, and he's just as terrific, charming, charismatic, and tender as he was in this film... perhaps better. This should be appreciated since Talbert is very rarely seen in any films.

The concept of having a smorgasbord of misfit kids shipped off by their parents and locked up in a room for two days is quite intriguing in itself. However, I'm not sure if the behavior the writer intended to show was really the appropriate one. There's no real closure; there's no real sense of ambiguity, either. It is implied out of little that these kids do in fact change. Even though their behavior is undeniably relevant for today, the writer fails to deliver it in a credible manner.

All-in-all, it's a decent film to rent. If you have any favorite star in this film, like Charlie for me, then go ahead and buy it. Otherwise, spare yourself. ... Read more

Ah well, that's show business!!! ... Read more
