5-0 out of 5 stars All time Classic
"In order to be the best you must lose your mind" If you want to be the best you have to party with the best" This movie is full of great quotes. Ski School is a guys ski vacation fantasy. The characters are entertaining and mischievous. The skiing is great.

If you are a person that enjoys skiing and you don't take yourself very serious then you will love this movie. The movie makes you want to grab your sticks, a six pack and hit the slopes.

If you like movies that are well done full of good acting then stay away from Ski School. If you like stupid movies and just want to laugh a lot then this is your movie. Just sit back and enjoy.

Originally titled The Killing Box, George Hickenlooper's surreal Civil War movie recounts a gruesome (and fictitious) episode in American history in which a phantom army of Confederate and Union soldiers attacked and crucified armies on both sides.Adrian Pasdar plays Captain John Harling, a Union soldier assigned to investigate the Alabama 51st, a Confederate regiment his superiors believe survived a deadly battle and have made strange bedfellows with a group of Union soldiers.Harling enlists the help of former mentor and current POW Colonel Nehemiah Strayn (Corbin Bernsen), the only member of the 51st to have actually survived the attack, in helping him find and deal with his former soldiers.Assisted as well by an African clairvoyant (Cynda Williams) who escaped one of the massacres, Harling and his men search for the ghost brigade, and when they find them, they learn their terrible secret. Lushly photographed and well acted, Hickenlooper's film sustains a spooky atmosphere even though it never provides any truly scary moments. But what makes the film engaging is the mystery behind the murdered soldiers, the underlying issue of racism, and scenes of injured soldiers suffering in a time before anesthetics. While Pasdar's somber narration has more than a passing resemblance to Apocalypse Now (ironically Martin Sheen makes a brief appearance), Brigade has its own merits and is worthwhile entertainment.Fun trivia game:try and spot soon-to-be-famous Billy Bob Thornton, David Arquette, and Matt LeBlanc. --Bryan Reesman ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GHOST BRIGADE GOOD SCAREY CIVIL WAR MOVIE
This is a good civil war horror film soldier's that are taken and then changed to the evil side and then they can't die and later on in the film a confederate vetern helps a union colonel and a union regiment to help stop the evil vampier ghostly soldiers and also Martin Sheen and Billy Bob Thorton are good actors in this movie and good music to.

3-0 out of 5 stars WHERE IS MATT LEBLANC?
I bought the movie for the brilliant Matt LeBlanc and I saw the movie 2 times but, where is Matt?Someone can say to me in what part of the movie appears.
Thanks and I am sorry for my bad english

4-0 out of 5 stars A little bit of everything..
I was surprised at how much I liked this movie. A mix of ghostlike zombie vampire (that's the best I can do as far as description) soldiers tossed in with a battle. I liked the cast very much. Martin Sheen, Corbin Bernsen, Adrian Pasdar, Cynda Williams, Billy Bob Thorton, and to my delight Dean Cameron, with a somewhat silent but violent role. The acting is amazing, set, costumes, dialogue, everything was fantastic. The thing I liked most about this film is the attention to detail. Each time you watch it you'll notice something you didn't notice before.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gettysburg Meets Apocalypse Now Meets Dawn of the Dead
Take the movie "Gettysburg". Add in a Martin Sheen narration a la "Apocalypse Now". Sprinkle in a few zombies from "Dawn of the Dead" and you get "Ghost Brigade". This movie is so dang cheesy it's great. It's certainly become a cult favorite among Civil War reenactors--right up there with both "Glory" and "Gettysburg". Interestingly, Martin Sheen reprises his "General Lee" accent in a brief cameo as a Union General. It almost makes you wonder if this movie was part of his contract when he did "Gettysburg". If you like the lighter side of the Civil War, this movie is a keeper.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Touch Of Bram Stoker and Joseph Conrad
A surreal journey into the heart of darkness of the American Civil war. Blood and vampires haunt the proverbial Kurtz compound at the end of the road in this story directed by the guy who brought us that amazing documentary on the making of "Apocalypse Now." Its influence is definitely there. ... Read more

A weak, lazy comedy about an easygoing teacher (Mark Harmon, whose movie career never had the kind of trajectory that his TV work did) who is forced to teach--you guessed it--summer school. What's worse, he gets exactly the kind of kids you'd expect: the losers and slackers who are forced to make up the work they didn't complete during the year. He tries to duck work and let them fend for themselves. But in this mushy Carl Reiner film, the teacher offers some life lessons to his band of delinquents and--surprise, surprise--the kids impart a lesson or two to their teacher, as well. Harmon coasts through the film on his good looks, which are considerable. --Marshall Fine ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I can watch it over and over again
This is one of my favorite movies. I have watched it infinite times. This movie is funny and entertaining. I never get bored watching it. It's a story of a gym teacher who gets to teach summer school, and in order to get a tenure for next year he has to make the students pass their english tests, but they are students lacking motivation and skills. On the way to the test the story has a lot of sub plots, and very funny and memorable moments, with great characters like Chainsaw and Dave who love horror movies, Denise a dislexic girl, Larry an underage stripper, Pam (Courtney Thorne Smith) a surfer, and of course Freddy Shoop (Mark Harmon) and Robin Bishop (Kirsty Alley).

4-0 out of 5 stars Harmless Fun
1987's Summer School is an underrated comedy from the 80's. The plot revolves around reluctant summer school teacher, Freddy Shoop (Mark Harmon), who is forced into the job after the original teacher hits the lottery. Shoop is a gym teacher and he must deal with a classroom full of typical high school misfits. Throughout the summer, Shoop's unconventional teaching methods get him trouble with the school's vice principal, but wins over the kids. The film is carried by the immensely likable cast. Mr. Harmon reactions to the student's quirks and miscues are perfectly timed and the students provide genuine laughs. Dean Cameron & Gary Riley are hilarious as shock meisters Chainsaw and Dave, Richard Steven Horowitz plays the perfect geek as Alan Eakain and a young Courtney Thorne-Smith is alluring as Pam House who develops a big time thing for Shoop. Kirstie Alley shows up as a love interest for Shoop. Summer School is a great, lightweight movie that is small on plot, but big on laughs and fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Single Funniest Movie Ever
'Summer School' is truly the funniest movie in the history of film. You've gotta get past the 1987 styles and fashion, but once u do that...this movie is the great. Dave, Chainsaw, the pregnant surfer...ahh, you gotta see it to know what I mean. A cinematic classic. Its about time it came out on DVD. Go buy it now.

Brilliant and sooooooo underrated. I'm a huge fan, and I'm so glad it's finally on DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!!!
Fun 80's movie. Good acting. Good directing. Favorite line from the movie: When the high school gym teacher (Mark Harmon) is told he has to teach summer school he says, "...but I'm not a real teacher!" The principal replies, "That's okay, they're not real students." ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars What's up homebrew? ------ "..Everybody Felix!..."
What's up homebrew?
Hilarious dialogue! "..Everybody Felix!..."
It's a movie of conversations and very little action.. It's hilarious. I can't describe it.. Everyone is just so goofy! It's subtle....FELIX steals the show...And as a fan of Galaxie 500 and Luna, It is cool to see Dean Wareham in a movie and doing the music for it.. He does a cool version of "Frankie And Johnny". It's a real low-budget film shot in just 6 days! I don't know about the DVD, I only have the VHS version but it's a good movie for the people with a weird sense of humor! "How did my birthday boy spend his birthday?".... "NOTHING." this is for the people who like irreverent comedies. Support indie films. It's goofy, it's New York, it's indie, it's Rae Dawn Chong, Ally Sheedy, Justine Batemen and more! Same apartment...3 parties.. a birthday party, a halloween party and a New Year's party. "Everybody Felix! It's Felix's birthday! Everybody Felix! He's old in the best way!"

3-0 out of 5 stars Bizarre, but quite funny
I'm a big NB fan. THis movie, with it's awful edits, still manages to be entertaining. It isn't nearly as good as his other two films, but still kept me glued to the TV for 75 minutes. The guest shots are fantastic, particularly the Ally Sheedy ones. Christopher Eigeman, my favorite actor, deserved a better part, but Carlos Jacott is terrific. Baumbach himself gives an enjoyable performance. THe movie is all about dialogue and much of it is inspired. If you are new to Noah Baumbach's work, go get Kicking and Screamin and then Mr. Jealousy. This film is really best for fans, and curious viewers. I'm awaiting Noah's next film with great hopes.

2-0 out of 5 stars subpar versus Kicking & Screaming and Mr. Jealousy
Perhaps predictably, this movie suffers from not having the same kind of time and money invested in its production compared to Kicking & Screaming and Mr. Jealousy. Those two films had a uniquely beautiful combination of literate dialogue and humorous ensemble interaction. While Highball had many of the same actors from the first two movies, the overall dialogue and themes were totally different. The first two movies had irreverence mixed with the sympathy of nostalgia and the difficult emotional transition to adulthood. Highball had no direction at all.

While I no longer remember all the details of Highball, I felt that the characters were poorly defined and the plot less meaningful than Mr. Jealousy and Kicking & Screaming. The movie seemed incomplete and hastily put together.

If you like literate, witty ensemble comedies, you should definitely see Kicking and Screaming, then Mr. Jealousy, then the Whit Stillman trilogy (which also features Chris Eigeman): Metropolitan, Barcelona, and The Last Days of Disco. All 5 of those being among my favorites.

4-0 out of 5 stars Quirky, crazy comedy
Interesting comedy told through the course of three parties in one apartment: a birthday party, a Halloween party, and a New Year's Eve party. Basically centered around the couple who's apartment it is who first are together (birthday), break-up (Halloween), and then are married (New Year's) and all their weird and strange friends they join together for each occasion. For anyone who can remember times like these or are going through times like these, there are plenty of moments to laugh at. Like the boring awkward birthday party magician?! Or the hideously costumed drunk hostess at Halloween?! Or a friend coming out on New Years Eve?! It's all there.....strangely and sadly so. You will recognize so man actors in this I don't know how the director got them all for this nothing of a movie but he did, from Stolz to Sheedy to Bogdanovich and more. You'll have fun guessing who's who, but there's plenty of who's not in the film too. Quirky, strange, but enjoyable.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the most clever scripts written!
It came upon accident i even saw this ridiculously funny movie. The editing sucks, the plot goes absolutely nowhere, but the undertones of great humor fullfill this movie even through the closing credits. If one is looking for a movie with flat out jokes please don't waste your time. To those with a sense of humor, on the other hand, this is one of my all time favorite movies. I've recommended this movie to most of my friends and have never had a negative comment. I have since purchased Mr. Jealousy and Kicking and Screaming by the same director, Noah Baumbach, god lets hope they are remotely compared to this outstanding work of art. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars From a patient's perspective
I first saw this movie when it came out on cable TV and thought it was terrific then. This movie is a MUST for anyone thinking about going into healthcare or those teaching students in healthcare. The majority of the movie is portrayed from a patient's perspective, down to filming the ceilings while a patient is lying on a guerney in the crowded emergency room. It is a fast paced, enjoyable film though at times there is strong language used. As a registered nurse with many years experience working in emergency rooms, I highly recommend this video. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Sometimes cheesy is GOOD!
I liked this film! Honest! It was great fun, and quite exciting too. Okay, so I liked most of the actors, such as Wil Wheaton as Rodney and Terry Farrell as the scientist Allison

It reminded me greatly of the film The Core in various parts, in fact I think that The Core took a great deal from this low budget sci-fi than people are willing to admit.

The plot is quite simple, it's a save the from destruction movie, with your obligatory bad guy who finds his conscience at the last minute and saves the others by sacrificing his own life, the gruesome death of a likeable crew member (Rodney) and the exciting ride in the bowels of the earth by the survivors trying to make it to the surface in one piece!

Of course there are other baddies in that the Deep Core Machine they are using has been built and funded by the Chinese who want to use it as weapon at some point and the sleazy American bad Daryl guy played with gusto by the dead pan actor James Russo gets his just deserts at the end.

It is nothing spectacular but it is good fun to watch! The special effects aren't all that brilliant though they do have their moments, the finding of a huge diamond cavern is one of them, the lasers on the Deep Core machine another, and I thought the lava flow was pretty good too!

All in all this is quality cheese, and I really enjoyed it and I'm not ashamed to admit to it online!

2-0 out of 5 stars Cheesy, But Worth Watching
Deep Core is one of those Sci-Fi movies that you almost wish they didn't make. The premise is good, about half of the actors are good, there are even some interesting scenes of the ship that aren't half-bad. That's about all that can be said for the movie.

Deep Core is based on the same basic premise as 2003's The Core - Man has screwed up the earth and has to tunnel down into the earth to fix it. The Core is clearly the better of the two movies. Deep Core, on the other hand, has all of the same elements: a ship (The Core's is a lot better looking), a crew, a few nuclear warheads, a person that gets killed by lava, and a person that sacrifices themselves for the rest of the group. Once you get passed those basic similarities, Deep Core is but a pour precursor to the later film. It has three good actors: Wil Wheaton, Terry Farrell and Bruce McGill; the rest are generally overly dramatic.

There are a few special effects that don't look all that bad (such as the cutting scenes). All of the earth-quake-type scenes look rather fake and the ship looks poorly suited to the type of work that it was designed for. Overall, its not a bad film, but if you have a choice watch The Core, not Deep Core.

5-0 out of 5 stars How can you NOT love this movie???
This is the ultimate sci-fi geek movie... we have Ms. Terry Farrell of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Jadzia Dax) and the infamous Wil Wheaton of Star Trek: Next Generation (Wesley Crusher) and current Internet fame. I can't honestly believe the trekkies can stay away. This one scores WAY higher for me than Free Enterprise.

It was recommended by Wil on his site (see url below) yesterday so we hopped down to the video store and rented it. It's cheesy and fun and a great movie.

Nice death scene, Wil....

3-0 out of 5 stars Awesome - if you're a B movie scifi or Terry Farrell fan
Anything with Terry Farrell in it rates Five stars in my book, she is one of the,(if not thee), most beautifull and sexy women alive, not to mention a very intelligent, talented actress, I wish she had the confidence (she has the talent) to do more quality movies. (she'd be awesome in a romantic comedy) What can I say I'm a fan. But to be honest this is a Sci-fi B-movie action adventure, Probably low budget, but the special effect are good. I gave it 3 Stars for having Terry in it, her acting is very good (considering the script). If it had a bigger budget, a better plot and script it would earn the 3 stars or more. But still it is a fun movie to watch and I enjoyed it. But you have to be a B-movie, SCI-FI fan to really enjoy it. (or a Terry fan) I'm both. The cast is good and the acting, I think they had a lot of fun making it, and some of you will watching it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Meanwhile, back in the 60s.
This is just like an updated B movie from the sixties and I enjoyed it. It's real comic book stuff. The effects are not bad, the pace hardly flags and the cast seem to be enjoying themselves so it's easy viewing. I enjoyed this more than big budget films such as Evolution or Jurassic Park 3. But I think the absence of big names will put people off, not that it matters because the cast here do a fine job. And if big names don't matter to you then you could do a lot worse than watch this. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Jennifer Rubin is still having...'Bad Dreams'
The beautiful Jennifer Rubin is back in familiar territory a year on from being drugged to death by Freddy Krueger in 'A Nightmare on Elm St. 3: Dream Warriors'. This film is so very familiar to 'Nightmare 3' with it's hospital setting and Freddy-like Boogeyman. Also eagle-eyed viewers may recognise one doctor in this film who played a dream doctor in the original 'Nightmare On Elm St.
I personally enjoy 80's horrors like this even if they often seem chessy or uber-gruesome. 'Bad Dreams' is an under-rated gem of a horror film and the effects are NOT bad despite what Mr. Professional critic at the top of the page may say. Only you can really judge for yourself. If you're a fan of Freddy, or effects laden horror/suspense then give 'Bad Dreams' a try, it also has a twist at the end which means at least some thought went into this script.

5-0 out of 5 stars Underrated Entertainment!
"Bad Dreams" came out around the same time as Nightmare on Elm Street and is very much a product of the 80s and horror filmmaking style at that time. The film tell the story of the sole survivor of an interesting hippielike commune/cult led by a David Koreshish type leader.

Yet "Bad Dreams" is a cut above for many reasons. The first being that the film is filled with surrealistic arresting images-in particular, the house where the mass suicide took place is an intriguing looking building, tragically beautiful.

Secondly, "Bad Dreams" encompasses a fascinating character in the African American female mental patient who frequently says mysterious and pseudo religious things and seems to be the only one who knows whats going on.

Thirdly, the acting by all involved is really superior to what you find in most horror films. Rubin is especially good at emoting and I am mystified why I never heard of her before I rented this film.

Lastly, I think most viewers miss an interesting touch in the film, at one point, Cynthia is sitting in the grass turned around in the exact same pose as the painting by Andrew Wyeth "Christina's World"! It was a really awesome touch that I think may go unappreciated by those not farmiliar with this painting.

In short, "Bad Dreams" is a must see, with a great twist ending also. A must for any horror fan or suspense lover.

4-0 out of 5 stars Damn good movie!
Jennifer Rubin, Dean Cameron, and the rest of the cast had amazing chemistry that really came through in the final product.

This movie is, indeed, a cut above the rest as it doesn't explain everything to the letter as other movies do. For me, that's what ruins the mystery and the chances of me watching it again.

What drew me the most to this movie was the soundtrack. Nothing like hearing The Chambers Brothers "Time Has Come Today" (during the initial suicide scene and when Cynthia revisited the horror awake and alseep) as well as "I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night" by The Electric Prunes (played as the ambulance took Cynthia away from the scene at the very beginning of the movie).

This movie is definitely worth watching many times.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Cut Above the Norm
I miss this movie. If there was a film that should be moved up on the list to be transferred to DVD this film would be it. It's not your typical horror film where there's nothing but mindless slice and dice behind motives of stupidity. The main character deals with the psychological aspects of something horrible happening to her (which makes sense since it takes place in a mental ward). But when the bodies start to fall, the "culprit" is not so obvious. No Freddy Kruger or Michael Myers. This movie also pulls you in through the supporting cast, all interesting and even funny. I love this movie! I give it five stars as a contender against other horror films and it rates right up there with the originals like NIGHTMARE AN ELM STREET and HALLOWEEN. There's death. There's drugs. There's comedy, and hey, even a little romance. Grab some popcorn and spend two hours with BAD DREAMS. You won't be disappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Movie That Affects Just Certain People
Well, the first time I saw this movie I literally became obsessed with the whole cult tragedy story, mainly because I was very young and looking for movies to satisfy me, but as I've gotten older, I can still say that this movie is one of my favorite scary, weirdy, "Halloween Mood" movies. I mean, it goes from the time this little girl was involved in a mass suicide (she survived) of course and then, it goes to 14 years later and she's still haunted by her past experiences. I guess with a movie like this, you can create your own kind of story line because it never said why she was in the cult group to begin with, so you can kind of make up a story of your own. But anyway, I thought it was a great movie, not because it was Academy Award winning acting nor did it have an extremely intellectual plot, but I liked it because it was good at a certain time of my life and now I can look at that film, and remember myself always! 4-0 out of 5 stars Finely aged cheese.
For fans of campy cult movies, this is a godsend. Toni Basil as a horny vampire mom! Thomas Dolby as a vampire-hunting coffin salesman! Bo Diddley as himself! Not to mention the simple fact that this is an 80's rock Vampire Musical!

Oh, man . . . no one would confuse this with a good movie, but you can laught at it and with it. The filmmakers were obviously going for cheese, and they hit it right on the money. Dean Cameron (with his eyebrows in a supporting role) plays a sensitive vampire who's cursed to fall in love with a girl once every century, only to have a peglegged pirate beat her to death with a hambone every time. Can he break the curse this time? Can he become the world's first rock 'n' roll 'n' rap vampire?

So much to love here. The songs, first and foremost: elaborate production numbers of howlingly so-bad-they're-good 80's tunes and even some that were *meant* to be funny and are. Cameron's wise-cracking mirror reflection, who may be the ghost of Elvis. Cameron's bat transformation -- a two-foot tall, flatulent goblin.

I could go on and on. If you're looking for Citizen Kane or Schindler's List, keep looking. But if you like Rocky Horror, Spinal Tap, and the like, snap this one up.

2-0 out of 5 stars Rockula Rocks!!
Yes, it really is a dumb movie, but so what? Not all movies are "Gone with the Wind," or "Titanic" or the like. Rockula has goofy characters and a nutty plot. However, this movie does have one redeeming thing: it has some kicking music, with a particularly wicked performance by Toni Basil called "The Night." And, for those who find humor in such things, it's worth it just to see Bo Diddley in high top sneakers, biker shorts, a tank top, a yellow cape, and wire bats on springs waving around his head.

They evidently did not come out with a sound track for this movie, and that's a shame. If there is a sound track out there, I hope someone lets me know where to find it. I've looked all over the place, and have yet to locate it.

Who cares if the movie's dopey? Watch it for the tunes!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Get this
I belive Rockula is probly one of the best 80s movies I would put it up there with pretty in pink and st elmos fire Dean camron also did another movie called ski patrol and its sequal how ever the soundtrack is nonexistant the company that put out the movie went under it was bought out but the soundtrack was thrown out So in short for thoughs that miss the 80s and dream of returning or for thoughs that only dream of the 80s this movie is for you It also has toni Basil (And shes not a bad looking woman even now)

5-0 out of 5 stars Rockula Rocks me!
Great fun-time movie with a (repeatedly) doomed love affair between an long-lived vampire and his perpetually reincarnated girl friend.

Can Rockula break the never-ending lost-love loop and find true love?

Turn the stereo up, get the popcorn ready, and start smiling.

Uh-huh-huh.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not be deceived, this is one of the worst movies ever.
This is my warning to anyone who might be considering purchasing this movie or even entertaining the thought of trying to watch it. Despite the fact that I am well aware that Mr. Luca Bercovici was also responsible for inflicting Ghoulies on the world, I let my love of Bo Diddley [pull] me into buying this monster. Unless you are curious as to what Mr. Diddley looks like in yellow spandex, I would not suggest purchasing this movie. He doesn't really perform in it at all. He noodles around on the guitar for a couple seconds, and that is it. The movie features an awful plot that was probably the result of a case of beer, a lot of nachos, and sleep deprivation. This is also one of the most dated films I have ever sat through. You are forced to stomach many badly lip- and instrument-synched eighties-style songs. Plus, as an added bonus, they totally butcher Bo Diddley's "Mona" at the end. All I can say is that Bo Diddley must have really been hard up for money back then. If you are looking for a GOOD eighties/teenage/horror/comedy movie, I would suggest either of the Teen Wolf movies, Monster Squad, My Best Friend is a Vampire, Once Bitten, etc. PLEASE, stay away from this. You have been warned. Ewwwwww. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars cheerfully cheezy, yet cleverly conceived
Miracle Beach is full of natural charm, wit, and a generous amount of good lines. This movie gets better and better the more you watch it. Filled with adorable detail. If charm escapes your memory, then Dean Cameron is a welcome surprise. -Marjoe

5-0 out of 5 stars I think this is a great romantic/comedy.
Dean Cameron and Ami Dolenz have a great chemistry in this movie. Its goofy in a way but it gets the point across and leaves you in a good mood. Ami is fine too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Let's get out the Unrated Version!
A past reviewer was right, there is a R-rated version of this film. I was lucky enough to see this rare cut of the film when it aired on HBO in the early 90s. In case your curious, the R-rated version featured nudity in one scene when the main character wakes up on the beach, and the genie has placed him in a bed with two topless women. Seeing as how this is a rather obscure film, and since it was not a huge Hollywood blockbuster, it probably will never make it out on DVD. Come to think of it, this is the type of movie that some video stores will throw in the dumpster to make room for more copies of the latest flash in the pan DVD. If you ever catch this movie on TV, tape it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ami Dolenz
This is the only movie I've ever seen that made me fall in love with the leading actress. Ami Dolenz is a goddess and this is her best portayal out of all the movies she was in. I just found a site that lists all her movies at amidolenz.com...plz plz plz release this on DVD!!

Here's another request for this exquisitely enjoyable comedy to be remastered and released on DVD. Hopefully our requests will be processed like what's been done with other great movies ("Roman Holiday" for one).... Thank you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite possibly one of the greatest pieces of American cinema
There have been great sequels like Godfather II but none have ever reached the cinamatic heights of Ski School 2. Dean Cameron reminds me of the young Tom Hanks in the classic Volunteers another awesome movie from the 80s. The skiing montages and footage are sweet and I defy you to find a better movie to enjoy with your buddies over delicious beers.

They don't make silly comedies like these anymore and thats a damn crime. I love a great art film like anyone else but plot-lite silly films that you can watch just for a good laugh just aren't out there anymore. I honestly tell my friends that this is one of my all time favorite films and I am not kidding. Give it a watch - I can promise three things: 1) lewd and silly physical comedy, 2) goofball antics, and 3) gratuitous nudity in the classic 80s style. God bless Dean Cameron and all the wacky people that made Ski School 2!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the Original but still wacky!
The original Ski School is one of my favorite films. When I heard about this film I was so excited to see what happens next. Seeing Dean Cameron come back as Dave was wonderful and he still has that flare he had in the first. While I admit the second is not as hysterical as the first, it still is wacky and entertaining. "Chicken Dance!!" :O)

3-0 out of 5 stars Ski School II
A Sequel To A Obvious Ripp Off Of Animal House, This College Party Comedy Nonetheless, Is Hilarious Due To The Comic Mastery Of Dean Cameron Who Plays The Leader Of A Wacky Bunch Of Ski Bums...Dave Marshak (Cameron) And His Entarage Of Skiing Party Animals Are Threatened To Be Thrown Out Of The Resort Due To Beth's (Heather Cambell) Sinester And Humdrum New Boyfriend...Dave Embarks To Save Them From Their Unwilling Departure From The Resort And To Rescue Beth From Boredom...

1-0 out of 5 stars A far cry from the original, not something to watch again.
After having seen the original Ski School, I guess I was expecting a little too much from the sequel. It turned out that I was expecting way too much. With the only semi-recognizable character (Dean Cameron, whom I still consider brilliant) having to carry the movie, which consisted of an awful plot and even worse acting, it really turned into a one man show. But, if you have an hour and a half and you think you need to punish yourself, then this is for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost as good as the original...
This film, like the original "Ski School" is a definate "Party Movie." The only problem is that it lacks the comedic timing of the original (due to the fact that onle one original star returns.) But I would reccommend this film to anyone who enjoyed the original. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Off-beat, funny, and poignant
Unlike the standard Hollywood romance, this movie gives us a realistic view of people. The characters are quirky, neurotic, confused, and not really very glamorous. They are also very likeable, as we can sympathize and identify with the dilemmas they create for themselves. Even as the movie pokes fun at them for their foibles, there is also a tenderness for them and the self-imposed suffering they must endure.

The plot revolves around a friendship between 2 men and a woman. When one of the men (Eric Stoltz) marries the woman (Meg Tilly), the angst and complications begin. Although the course of the story seems foreseeable (not a lot of surprises), the film escapes being predictable by having believable characters that are like people many of us know or could know from our own lives.

In addition, the structure is unusual....the different sections of this film were written by different writers, yet all parts do seem integrated with the whole. Add to this the fact that the scenes are seemingly artlessly put together, so that often there is almost a documentary effect....what you end up with is an experiment in film making that doesn't require you to have a film degree to appreciate.

3-0 out of 5 stars SWORD FIGHT !!!
O.K., maybe I was a little hard on this film originally. I recently purchased an import copy of it on DVD and watched it again. I think in all fairness, I'd bump it up a star to 3. Now, about watching it on DVD, I can now go right to Tarantino giving his Top Gun monologue. As I've said before, it's way better then his Madonna speech. Be sure to catch this movie and give it chance when it comes out domestically on DVD (or better yet, now on VHS at this nice price). Sword fight !!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Dated But Hasn't Lost Its Touch
This is no reflection on the quality of the film, but Sleep With Me loses its edge after ten years. It's full of witty, 90's style banter. This was a great film when romantic comedies were in. The actors were hilarious and I enjoyed Craig Sheffer for the first time ever. I don't watch a lot of his films but this one is entertaining. I saw it in 1994 and was hooked on it then. Since then my tastes have changed and I've gotten attached to other films. This is the perfect date movie providing a realistic, comedic look at the differences between women and men and the problems that can surface within a circle of friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars poker lovers moovie
This is one of my favorite movie. The interaction between the characters in conflict situations is so real. I love the scene in the living room were Stoltz and Tilley start getting into it. Its one of those scenes with dialogue flowing amongst a whole group of characters. The Umbrella scene seamlessly transitions from the realism of this movie into poetic romance that is absolute movie magic, with Tilley just lighting up the screen. Far all the discussion about the sword fight scene, at the end of the day, the funniest part of this movie is the poker scenes with Parker and the actress from Chasing Amy.

I haven't seen the DVD yet. Does it have any special features ?

4-0 out of 5 stars Moments of genius
This is a good movie, but the final 15 minutes are almost pure genius. the story comes to an emotional head, with some great dialogue, and superb acting, but Tarantino nearly steals the show with his cameo. Ever wondered why Top Gun is the greatest script in the history of Hollywood? If so watch this film! ...

As a registered nurse with many years experience working in emergency rooms, I highly recommend this video. ...

Jealousy and Kicking and Screaming by the same director, Noah Baumbach, god lets hope they are remotely compared to this outstanding work of art. ... Read more

Proving that a little success can be a dangerous thing, Emilio Estevez parlayed his early-'80s "brat-pack" fame into a dubious directorial career, beginning with 1986's Wisdom (in which Estevez costarred with then-fiancée Demi Moore), and resuming with this sophomore-effort 1990 comedy that benefits most from Emilio's teaming with brother Charlie Sheen. (Close your eyes and listen: their voices sound like their dad Martin Sheen after inhaling helium.) The brothers play a pair of garbage collectors who discover a body on their daily rounds, and the corpse draws them into a scheme involving corrupt politics, illegal hazardous-waste dumping, and a lovely neighbor (Leslie Hope) with connections to the dead guy. Add a wacko Vietnam vet (Keith David), an unsuspecting pizza deliverer (Dean Cameron), and a pair of overzealous cops, and you've got a comedy that lazily rambles from one lightweight scene to another. It's way too loose to have any noteworthy quality, but that's also part of the movie's low-brow appeal: Estevez and Sheen play well together, and this is just their way of goofing off with Hollywood money. With a sharper script and an experienced director, Men at Work could have paid off handsomely. As it is, these sibling antics are amiable enough, and the early-'90s fashion crimes (like Charlie's "dork knob" ponytail) offer an amusing diversion from the lamest gags. --Jeff Shannon ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Cheesy But Fun
This is a good movie if you are looking to relax, have a few laughs, and not use your brain. There are some "cringe" moments which some consider funny that I did not like which kept me from rating this higher (and almost caused it to drop a notch). But moments like "doing the nasty" and the thing Keith David's character does to some cops is seriously wrong and funny. I enjoyed watching Emilor and Charlie work together. I'm glad Amazon.com has put this back out for sale!

4-0 out of 5 stars Alot of laughs
This is a pretty funny story and has some great actors in it. Although it could be considered a little on the odd side it definitely will get you laughing. There's always something going wrong and the comedy never stops!

5-0 out of 5 stars a comedy classic
I've been waiting for this to be released on DVD. The movie is a hoot!!! Especially love the "Louis" character. "I hate cops- I hate rent-a cops too". "Now if Mr.Sneaky-man would come up here and stand next to Mr.Bone-head". I just received my copy the other day, and was wondering if anyone else has this problem.......there is no chapter index sheet in the box. Just the DVD.

And if big names don't matter to you then you could do a lot worse than watch this. ... Read more
