2-0 out of 5 stars This could have been something special....
I'm gonna go out on a limb here by saying that most people my age (20) don't watch the Honeymooner's, and might not be familiar with Smokey & The Bandit. Me however, am a fan of both... but for the first time in my life, I feel anger toward the (sadly, no longer with us) Jackie Gleason. Without his portrayal of Buford T. Justice, I must say the series wouldn't have been the same. But Smokey & The Bandit 3 was an alright film that was seriously hurt by 2 things. First being the absence of Burt Reynolds (and Sally Field, of course). 2nd being the spotlight stealing Jackie Gleason. His ego stole the show, when they SHOULD have waited for Burt Reynolds to finish his other films. Smokey and The Bandit WITHOUT the real bandit? come on. However, I did enjoy Jerry Reed getting to "Wooo Hooo, Play the Bandit!" This movie could have been a bridge to a Smokey & The Bandit 4, with The Real Bandit making his return, with Frog (Field) and SnowMan (Reed). But I give this movie a two. It has it's moments, but the end literally choked me up when I realized it WAS the end. Avoid depression and stick to Smokey 1 & 2. I'm fighting back tears to write this Review. Maybe someday they'll do Smokey & The Bandit 4, and do it RIGHT (with Burt, Sally and Jerry), and wake me up from this nightmare that I refuse to let ruin the dream.

2-0 out of 5 stars Choke and Puke
After the disappointing Smokey and the Bandit 2, there was no way to go but up... But put it to the makers of this film to find a way to bring the franchise down even further, crashing in an unfunny pile of automobiles and recycled jokes.

The franchise has gone through even more changes... Now, the jokes are more vulgar and crass with a sexual overtone that did not exist previously. (...)

This is not funny.

Smartly, Burt Reynolds has relegated himself to a brief cameo appearance. Jerry Reed is out of his league carrying the film as "The Bandit" and the late Jackie Gleason repeats every bit of dialogue from the previous 2 films, hoping to squeeze a snicker out of the audience. Even the Enis Boys, played by at McCormick and Paul Williams are given a much bigger role here and boy is that unnecessary.

Stick to the first film.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is not tiresome at all
This film is soooooo funny! I'm 13 years old and I'm a SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT fan. I liked it even though the story was bad. My favorite parts are when a man in a Tarzan suit says, "Hey mking it with a fish, Crazy!", when the lady from the hotel scene pops out of Buford T's blue car, and when she chases Buford and yells, "Beau, baby." and falls in the water. This also had a shark that looked like one from the JAWS series. Also, JAWS 3 was released the same year SATB 3 come out in 1983. I also liked it when Little Enos said, "Sorry Daddy, I lost my head."

1-0 out of 5 stars This Film Sucked
If no stars were possible, this film would get it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sixth sense, that ain't even a dime
Oh Puhleese, this movie all that bad, I mean it ain't no original Smokey and the Bandit but it's a pretty good southern comedy.
Pros: Good music, The scenes with Buford T. Justice and his son Junior, the hotel part and Junior at his dumbest.

Cons: Poor script, Cledus playing the bandit, The Enos playing mean tricks on Buford, and the new girl, man was she awful.

Overall, if you're a big fan of car chase movies, this is a must have (as long as you don't compare it to the first one).

This movie is about Buford T. Justice retiring and relaxing at Miami Beach, but his vacation doesn't turn out as well as he hoped, so he decides to come back and the Enoses tells Buford to drive all the way from Miami, FL wish the fish on top of the car to Austin, TX in 28 hours, he'll get a quarter of a million dollars, if Buford fails, his badge is going to be destroyed.
Along the way the Enos do everything they can so Buford wouldn't make it on time, and later on The Enoses call up Cledus to become the bandit and he later picks up a new girl (she's horrible compared to Sally Field).

In order to see what happens, watch this movie, although you may want to watch the original first to like Smokey and the Bandit. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars So bad it's good
This movie has become an in-joke with our crowd. How could it not? The cheesy lines, the barely-there plot and clothing, nudity at the drop of a hat (and if there's no reason for it, a dream sequence is in order!): It makes for bad movie gold. Great filmmaking it's not, but entertaining it is, unintentionally.

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Corman + Wynorski + Lords = Loads of Cheesy Fun
Roger Corman is executive producer and schlock-meister Jim Wynorski is director of 1988's NOT OF THIS EARTH, a campy remake of the campy Corman-directed classic. And in typical Corman style, it offers everything a B-movie fan could want: A goofy tongue-in-cheek plot that is barely more than a re-hash of the original; cheesy special FX, a good number of which were lifted from other Corman films; mediocre acting from some of the supporting cast; and lots of gratuitous female nudity. And also as with most films in which Corman has his hands, it is LOTS of fun to watch.

Gorgeous former hardcore adult-film star Traci Lords--here in her first "legit" starring role and the last role in which she completely disrobes for the camera--portrays a private-care nurse who unwittingly assists an extraterrestrial vampire in draining low-lifes and bimbos of their blood so that he can send the vital red stuff back to the hungry folks on his home planet of Devanna. It doesn't take long, though, before the nurse and her policeman boyfriend (Roger Lodge--yes, THAT Roger Lodge) begin to suspect that something strange and dangerous is going on. But can they solve the mystery quickly enough to save the city's remaining low-lifes and bimbos?

During the shooting and post-production of this film, there was a lot of hullabaloo about Traci Lords being cast in the lead role. Many thought that casting the former star of XXX-rated films was just a gimmick to gain publicity for the project, and while it did indeed do that, Ms. Lords' performance in NOT OF THIS EARTH is top-notch and professional and acquits her of the charges of being nothing more than shapely eye-candy. And for the most part, the other actors do a great job of supporting Ms. Lords. Arthur Roberts--looking like one of THE BLUES BROTHERS (1980)--delightfully parodies the stoic, awkward, out-of-his-element extraterrestrial that has become a sci-fi cliché. As the alien's clueless butler and chauffeur, Lenny Juliano has good onscreen chemistry with star Lords and really hams it up. And actor Ace Mask, playing the doctor who assigns Lords to work with the alien, is delightfully quirky and a real hoot whenever he's on the screen.

The only odd casting choice is that of Roger Lodge for the role of Lords' boyfriend. Filmgoers may recognize Lodge from his gig as host of TV's flaky syndicated dating show BLIND DATE. While Lords' performance in this film demonstrates why she has become a ubiquitous presence on TV and on film, Lodge's performance demonstrates why he's been relegated to hosting a low-brow late-night TV show. Traci Lords and Roger Lodge in bed together? That ineffable mismatch is like something from Lodge's BLIND DATE.

Rumor has it that this film came about as the result of a wager between Corman and Wynorski that the younger director wouldn't be able to shoot an adequate remake if restricted to the same 12-day shooting schedule and a similar budget. Well, Wynorski rose to the challenge and actually succeeded. So yes, this version of NOT OF THIS EARTH is a cheap production with lots of cheap tongue-in-cheek humor, cheap over-the-top performances, cheap FX & recycled film footage, and cheap busty bimbos--not to mention the beautiful and classy Ms. Lords--providing gratuitous eye-popping T&A. Nobody has tried to deny that the film is a cheesefest. But it's a highly entertaining cheesefest nonetheless, and in many ways it is better and more fun than Corman's original.

The DVD treatment of NOT OF THIS EARTH from New Concorde is pretty cool, especially considering that the film itself is a low-budget quickie. The disc offers a nice digital transfer of the film, generally free of filmic or digital artifacts, in what is apparently the film's original aspect ratio of 1.33:1. As for bonus material, an optional feature commentary with director Wynorski and supporting actor Lenny Juliano is a real hoot--often times funnier and campier than the film itself--and Wynorski also manages to relate some interesting and humorous anecdotes regarding the making of the film and points out a few technical errors. Also offered is the requisite original theatrical trailer. All in all, it's a great DVD value.

In short, viewers who love low-budget B-grade SF and horror movies will enjoy the 1988 remake of NOT OF THIS EARTH and will certainly want to add this cool DVD to their collections. (Fans of gorgeous Traci Lords will want to give it a spin, too.) But those who don't comprehend the entertainment value of watching well-crafted schlock should probably spend their money elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars B Movie gets A Treatment!
NOT OF THIS EARTH was a 1988 remake of a 1950s Corman film which was widely touted as the first legitimate role for Traci Lords after she was exposed having been underage in the porn industry. It's cheesey drive-in fun! Traci and the cast do a good job with what they have, and the production is fun and never takes itself seriously. It's about a space vampire who comes to Earth for blood, and he hires a nurse (Traci Lords) and a manservant to help him out. But they both uncover that he is not what he seems and they try and stop him with some help from their friends. Nudity and cheesey horror abound, but Traci does not get racier than her infamous blue bikini!

The whole thing has b-movie writ large! You can see camera crews reflected in cars, a portrait moves around the house to EVERY room, and inserted footage from other Corman classics (Galaxy of Terror, Humanoids from the Deep) stand out like sore thumbs. But for some reason its a hoot, and very enjoyable. Fans of Traci will love it, and she really shows she can act. Anyone who can make me believe she's a suspicious nurse of a space vampire deserves the Oscar on effort alone! Meryl Streep never did that!

The extra on the DVD is the commentary by Corman veteran director Jim Wyronski. He's so funny on these things - he did a similar good job on the commentary for VAMPIRELLA (another Corman produced movie about a sexy space vampire!). So pop some popcorn and get ready for a cheesey good time.

5-0 out of 5 stars a great B-movie
Truly amazing how Not of this earth' cheap story can provide such a good, enjoyable and entertaining movie!
The answer lies in the acting of Traci Lords, Lenny Juliano and Arthur Roberts. All of them contribute magnificently to the horror & suspense in this movie. More so, their acting get extra depth by the supportive down-to-earth play by Ace Mask (doctor) and Rodger Lodge (policeman). Add to this a little sex & fun (birthday girl), and the mix of it all makes Not of this earth a real great B-movie.

1-0 out of 5 stars I tried...Really-to like this movie...
I bought this dvd for 2 reasons.Monique Gabrielle and Jim Wynorski .If not for the audio commentary-it is completely unbearable.Luckily, the one actor who had character was the commentary co-host.After Death Stalker II,I know Mr. Wynorski is/was capable of much more. This was sad really.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the gouda of cheesy movies
Jim Wynorski is quite possibly the finest B movie director ever. His Sorority House Massacre II is a masterpiece of slasher horror. Deathstalker II's incredible contrast with the rest of the series pushes a good movie up another notch. Jim W. does it again with Not of this Earth.

The opening scene lasts about 2 or 3 minutes and after seeing it, you just know you are in for a treat. The credits are better than ten other B movies put together. They show an amazing array aliens, space combat, and special effects. The best part is that the credit sequence really has very little to do with the movie you are about to see. That kind of attention to detail is hard to find in big budget movie, and in a B movie it is practically unheard of!

Traci Lords plays a very attractive nurse who is hired to take care of the mysterious Mr. Johnson. Mr. Johnson is does an incredible job as an emotionless alien, and the resulting comedy is priceless (or without value, depending on your point of view). Anyway, I got a kick out of Traci's coworker, Jeremy, the surly bodyguard/driver/cook who wears leather no finger gloves and a nice looking chauffer uniform.

I recommend this movie to any fan of cheesy science fiction. It is entertaining throughout. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hard Hitting Beach fun
Arguably the greatest of work of cinematic pop culture in the last 25 years. "Hard Hunted" takes a deep look at the social impact of neglegant violence and capricious sex. This cross genre epic turns bicoastal, advantagously exploiting breathtaking sets in both LA and Molokai.

Dialogue Hemmingway would have prided his claim to is illustrated in the chilling turning point of this film when Kane is compelled to send his underling and pilot of Raven ("his mighty aircraft" as Kane so proudly endows the vicious warbird of combat) to Hawaii hot on the heels of stunning Donna Hamilton.

Director Andy Sidaris spared no expense exercising mega star power with a statley performance in the opening scences by veteran actor/sports commentator extraordinaire Jim Lampley.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pornos and action films just don't mix.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pat Morita Plays A Villain While Pandora Peaks!
Pat Morita plays the international crime boss known as Kane. He hires six teams of assassins to kill federal agents Donna Hamilton (Playboy Playmate Dona Speir) and Nicole Justin (Playboy Playmate Roberta Vasquez). Playing against type, Pat makes for a very convincing villain. Also playing against character is the gorgeous Ava Cadell, who normally works on the side of the federal agents. In this film, she plays the hottest assassin of them all, who makes putting on her clothes sexier than most strippers taking off their clothes! Erik Estrada plays agent Richard Estaban in the finest acting performance of his career. Playboy Playmate Cynthia Brimhall plays agent Edy Stark, while the super sexy Carolyn Liu is Silk, Kane's lover and partner in crime. The biggest kudos go to Pandora Peaks in her movie debut, acting under the name Stephanie Schick, who plays agent Atlanta Lee. Her love scene with some dude under the world's smallest waterfall is undoubtedly the film's highlight. The majority of this movie involves the successive teams of killers, as they track the agents from Hawaii, to the desert outside of Las Vegas, to the bayou country in Louisiana. While this film strictly adheres to the Andy Sidaris formula of "bullets, bombs and babes," the stellar cast makes it the best movie Andy ever made.

2-0 out of 5 stars Campy Playmate long feature film
Campy, fun Playmate long feature film with a great variety of settings - Hawaii, Vegas, Texas...AND a great variety of Playboy playmates. Sidaris tastefully and aesthetically has the most incredible love making scenes. Plots are fun, sex, espionage, electronic toys and B movie dialogue. These same actors are often used in other Sidaris movies...did I mention the playmates!

2-0 out of 5 stars Campy Playmate long feature film
Another fun, campy Sidaris film. Great Playboy playmates in a beautiful Hawaiian setting, Vegas, Texas long feature. The esoteric playboy love sessions are really in keeping with the genre. Sidaris uses many of these actors in other of his films with similar story lines...sex, espionage, electronic toys...fun! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars SHAE MARKS HAD THE GREATEST BODY EVER!!
I have seen this film and read other reviews of this movie as well. The film itself is pretty bad, but I think it's supposed to be cheesy and the whole point of the film is to see some cheap action, bad dialougue and some extremely sexy, gargantuan sized breasted women...and on that subject...
I have to say that Shae Marks (during this time period) had the most incredible pair of breasts I have ever seen! The reason I qualify that statement by saying "during this time period" was because this film was made just shortly after Shae had her breast implants put in. She was a natural 34D cupper before the surgery, afterwards she was an astounding 36EE. Now, other people (including Shae herself) have said they disliked her look during this time, saying things like her breasts were "grotesque" in appearance, that they were "too big", etc.. I cannot disagree more. I think that not only were her breasts incredibly sexy, but they also had a nice shape to them. Sure, they were enormous and almost too big for her petite frame, but they hung nicely and her nipples faced opposite directions the way real breasts do. Most women with fake boobs have nipples that face forward, right in the center of their breasts, and they look totally fake. Anyways, Shae Marks had the greastest pair of boobs ever during this time period.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good hot stuff
This is a brilliant film...some may give out about the nude scenes etc but it certainly adds more spice to the plot. The entire cast may not be great actors/actresses but they certainly look good and get the jobs done. The plot itself is fairly easy to follow and quite interesting. Great film to watch if you need to chill out and relax.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very bad in a good way
Wow what a funny movie. Some of the worst acting ever, which makes it a very fun watch. ALso the women in the movie are great, especially Shae. You'll see what I mean when you see it. Definitely worth buying if you like huge-breasted women and terrible acting, and very silly action.

3-0 out of 5 stars BABES, EXPLOSIONS AND MORE BABES
Sidaris movies are typical: women, corny plots and action. ShaeMarks-Tiger and Carrie Westcott-Sofia are two of the most beautifulwomen on earth. This movie has everything gorgeous women, buff guys for the ladies, action, explosions. What ever your interest this movie has it!

4-0 out of 5 stars buff + random nudity + random explosions = money!
Buff Bagwell truly is the stuff. He gives the most awesome performance I have ever witnessed. As though Buff's comedic (not intentionally) presence is not enough, there is random nudity, and explosions that are even more random than the nudity. This is the movie that every college student dreams about making. Two thumbs up. ... Read more
