3-0 out of 5 stars Ok, Felice Schatcher is in it, so it must be good.
Felice Schatcher stars in this 1980 spoof of Carrie. Everyone remembers 16-year old felice from her role as Nancy on The facts Of life. Scott Baio also stars. Some people remember him as Chachi on Happy Days, or on Joanie Loves Chachi. willie Ames is remembered for his guest appearences on Charles In Charge. Heather Thomas is ugly. Scatman Crothers is always silly. Sue Ann Langton plays the principal, who is most known as nothing in the movie world. Everyone says that there is Nudity in this film, but it is all brief. She is blocking them with her hands. And that photo shows her cheerleading?????

5-0 out of 5 stars I Really Liked This Movie!
I don't know why critics are so hard on this movie, sure Zapped may not be a movie that you could picture getting an Oscar for best picture but I still think it is a good movie and I have a lot of fun watching it and I think Scott Baio, Willie Aames, Felice Schatcher and Heather Thomas all are good, there is nudity in this movie but only briefly and anyone who says that there is no nudity probably saw it edited on TV, I have the movie unedited on video and there is indeed brief nudity especially near the end of the movie during the dance, I am rating this cute, funny movie a 5 and I wish it would get onto a wide-screen DVD.

3-0 out of 5 stars Needs to be Released on DVD!
I originally saw this movie whenever they first started showing it on cable and I thought it was funny and I happen to like Scott Baio who I watched on Happy Days and Willie Aames who I watched on Eight Is Enough. I had this movie on tape and I'm waiting for it to be released on DVD!

4-0 out of 5 stars DVD?
I know this isn't the greatest movie of all time but I would like to add it to my DVD collection.

Writer-director Alan Parker's feature debut Bugsy Malone is a pastiche of American movies, a musical gangster comedy set in 1929, featuring prohibition, showgirls, and gang warfare, with references to everything from Some Like It Hot to The Godfather. Uniquely, though, all the parts are played by children, including an excellent if underused Jodie Foster as platinum-blonde singer Tallulah, Scott Baio in the title role and a nine-year-old Dexter Fletcher wielding a baseball bat.Cream-firing "spluge guns" sidestep any real violence and the movie climaxes cheerfully with the biggest custard pie fight this side of Casino Royale (1967).

Unfortunately for a musical, Paul Williams's score--part honky-tonk jazz homage, part 1970s Elton John-style pop--lets the side down with a lack of memorable tunes. Nevertheless, Parker's direction is spot on and the look of the film is superb, a fantasy movie-movie existing in the same parallel reality as The Cotton Club and Chicago. A rare British love letter to classic American cinema, Bugsy Malone remains a true original; in Parker's words "the work of a madman" and one of the strangest yet most stylish children's films ever made. --Gary S. 5-0 out of 5 stars A classic discovered all over again! Bravo!
I first saw this film as a child at the matinees. For years I held on to random memories of what I had seen knowing for certain only the title of this picture, Bugsy Malone, and that the cast was all kids. One day two years ago, I found a copy in the store and had to buy it. Previously, I had never seen a copy anywhere and hadn't seen it since the original viewing. Watching it for the second time was an experience I can't even discribe. It brought back scenes I didn't know I remembered. This movie is one of my favorites. When I've worn the tape out, I will rebuy it. My hope is that it will be released on DVD soon.

4-0 out of 5 stars Adorable Movie
Totally cute, all actors around the age of 12, scott baio is at his prime, it's easy to see why jodie foster becomes so big later in life, cute songs, extremly well done for a childrens musical but great entertainment for all-A must see for drama majors

5-0 out of 5 stars DVD Version
One of the best movies I saw this year.
If you want it on DVD, you can order it from www.amazon.de as I did (but check shipping costs).

4-0 out of 5 stars A really fun movie...
Just watched this again yesterday. What a great movie. My son, 11, watched it with me and wanted to watch it again today. It's cute, fun and, as much as I don't care for Paul Williams, the music is infectious.

My only problem is that it portrays the kids in very adult settings and costuming and roles. Fat Sam's is a speak-easy, and though they're running sarsparilla instead of whiskey it's still an adult setting. Jodie Foster's almost alluring when she sings "Tallulah", and considering she's about 12 when she did the song I'm a uncomfortable with that.

Overall I would recommend it. From the proper perspective it's innocent and memorable.

4-0 out of 5 stars This movie is great!
This movie needs to be on DVD. It is essential and underappreciated. I saw it when it first came out when I was in 8th grade and never forgot it. It is a late 70's/early 80's decadent SoCal teen slice of life. They even throw in Scott Baio in Adidas shorts on a skateboard for versimilitude. Jodie Foster is awesome, Sally Kellerman is neurotic and self-centered, Cherie Curie is unforgettable. That party scene-I dug it when I was a kid but today it's every adults nightmare. The soundtrack is perfect--only thing missing is some Cheap Trick!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest films of all time!
I can't believe people are only giving this film two stars. In what other film can you see Jodie Foster , overwhelmed with teenage angst, come home from a night on the town and turn up "More than a Feeling" while she sulks on the couch. THIS IS A CLASSIC! Not to mention one of the greatest high school party scenes ever. The song "On the Radio" would mean nothing to me if it weren't for this film. Oh yeah, one more thing The Band "Angel" live in concert, performing their hit "20th Century Foxes"- you've got to watch for yourself, that's all there is to it. Don't rent it, buy it, believe me you'll watch it again & again. You haven't fully exprienced the 70's until you've seen this movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars Still Relevant Coming of Age Story
This film is an excellent coming of age drama that teens and young adults today will enjoy despite the fact that it was filmed in the late 70's. Jodi Foster has a mom who dates casually and lets her pretty much do what she wants to do. It's obvious her moms house is the cool house because all of her friend "hang" at her house. Each one of the girls has some serious issues that they are dealing with. These girls are going through some of the same things teens today are going through. This movies succeeds where a lot of current films like "Thirteen" fail. It shows, it shocks and there are serious consequences. The DVD doesn't have any extras and the film quality isn't much better than the VHS. What I love most about the story in the film is how the friends really bond together to try to help the one friend who needs help the most.

"We raise our children in love and they grow up in love" is a quote from one of Jodie Fosters instructors at the beginning of the film and it's very fitting to the lives of the main characters.

5-0 out of 5 stars powerful teen drama
I loved this movie from the moment I saw it for sale at my video store's discard rack ten years ago. I recently received the DVD as a gift and the sound quality is a big improvement over my old vhs copy. I recommend it for performances, the story and the photography. Jodie Foster's monologue toward the end of the film is particularly memorable. Each girl's story line is realistic and the film itself does a good job of capturing teen life in the late 70s before yuppie values took hold. This is NOT a John Hughes film and is a refreshing change for anyone who was subjected that director's teen films in the 80s.

1-0 out of 5 stars Was it ever good? I think not.
Trials and tribulations of Jodie Foster and her 3 twenty-something year old high school friends...

Jodie gives a fair performance, but the others were substantially less than average. Sally Kellerman as Jodie's mom was pretty good. Laura Dern ("Jurassic Park") was interesting in her small scenes. Randy Quaid as one girl's boyfriend was mediocre (see "The Last Detail" for his excellent role in a good movie.)

Due to music and cultural references, plus the clothes and hair styles, the movie is pretty dated, but that is not a contributing factor to its badness. False dialogue and some typical cliches are factors, however. The partying scenes are also unconvincing, as everyone smokes joints like cigarettes, drinks a lot, and never appears intoxicated.

Director Adrian Lyne has made some good movies ("Jacob's Ladder", "Lolita"). Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars this is a great movie and might help kids today to see it
I saw this movie when it was made and really enjoyed it but besides that it showed me what drinking can do as i had a friend at the time who drank. i think it is a great movie and would hope that if any kid today could see it they might be helped by it. Today about 18 years later i still abstain from drinking and my friend is a heavy drinker.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good movie for the time.
I may be little biased about this movie as it was filmed at my high school in Madison, WI during the Spring of 1979. I was a freshman and and classes basically were all skipped during filming. They had the trailers out front, and would wet down the streets with huge water trucks. Some of my friends were used as extras and one friends house was used for Lance Kerwin's house.

The movie is good overall, really telling the story of the times when everybody was drinking and smoking too much, even our star athletes. It's worth a look. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected
I expected this movie to be a joke, and while it certainly was not the best movie I've ever seen, I was very impressed for a low-budget film. Scott Baio carries the film very well, and his underestimated talents shine in this film. The acting of the supporting cast is spotty, but anyone who is a fan of Baio will be impressed, as long as they are not expecting to see little "Chachi Arcola" from "Happy Days." Of course the lighting is not superior, but this was a low-budget independent film, so that is understandable. The bottom line is that for the type of film and the type of budget it had, it's very impressive. It is just a shame that Mr. Baio cannot seem to get a part in a mainstream feature these days. This film proves his acting talents are far too good for the types of movies he has been able to get parts in.

5-0 out of 5 stars Does Baio put this one on his resume?
After watching this film you may ask yourself if the "film makers" intended it to be as funny as it is! The sheer amount of flash backs is sure to amaze anyone! Don't pass up this gem!--please file under direct to video satire--

3-0 out of 5 stars What if Ed Wood were making movies today?
This no budget American re-make of "The Professional" is hysterically (unintentionally?) funny. Pointless flashbacks of scenes we just saw, actors improperly miked, bad lighting, over the top performances, stock explosions from other films, may very well make this the modern day "Plan 9 From Outer Space". If you love bad film, this is a must own masterpiece.

2-0 out of 5 stars Scott Baio Fans
Scott Baio is playing a "tuff guy" role, which of course is very different from the fun, light hearted charecters we are used to seeing him play, whom is trying to rid him self of a past he regrets. He has a "dream" for which he will do whatever it takes to acheive, even if it means continuing to face a past he is running from. For those Scott Baio fans-it's not his best acting, but the "rugged" look looks good on him. I enjoyed the film simply because of being a fan of his. Others would view the film as being generic. It's definatly a "B" movie. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars wish they made more like this
My daughter, now 10, loved this video. This great video for 2 to 6 year olds will get them up and moving around. get your bean bags ready and your excersizing shoes on as Scott guides your child through a half hour of wiggling, balancing and dancing fun. One of my favorite songs on this tape is when the kids count to 10 and make the number shapes with their bodies. My daugher loved the bean bag song and tried very hard to balance the bean bag on different parts of her body. They also talk to the children about drinking water and wearing good exercise shoes.I wish they would make more movies like this.
