The famously inept crimefighter stumbles through three animatedadventures in this full-length video, rescued--as always--by his cleverniece Penny, her dog Brain, and those ingenious gadgets. In "The CapemanCometh," the inspector teams with Capeman to fight Dr. Claw's team of ninjas and hoodlums over a mint of gold. Thenit's on to Romanovia, a Bavarianesque enclave, in "Prince of the Gypsies." Gadget's assignment: retrieve the royal seal from MAD agents posing asgypsies and return it to the grateful king. But the inspector faces hisfiercest challenge in "Gadget's Gadgets," when Dr. Claw's hired gun Dr. Noodleman abducts Gadget and Capeman and puts them through a battery ofexercises designed to remove all gadgets. The pair cooperates, believingthey're participating in an official test. Is Noodleman successful or doesPenny rescue the oblivious pair? Let's put it this way: Gadget and GetSmart's Maxwell Smart don't share the same voice (Don Adams) for nothing.Ages 3 and up will give a rousing cheer of "Go Go Gadget!" to this 64-minutevideo. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great time for families and the kids, fans will love it too!
The animated series on the video is just 3 or 4 episode, with Gadget explaining stuff in between the segments. The series is no violent,no swearing anf it's better than Disney's lacklister try last summer! This is the original Gadget folks so you dont get to see Dr.Claw! But if you like Penny and Brain(Penny's dog)saving her uncle gadget from the forces of MAD you will love this video! I'm a fan of the series and I love this video! please Disney bring back the whole series to video /DVD for all fans of this classic series from the 1980's and DIC animation! Thanks Disney for at least putting together this video! it grreat for families and kids and it's not like the violent cartoons on Saturdays, weekday afternoons
Where is this title on DVD?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun for Kids!
This video offers over an hour of great children's entertainment. It is essentially 3 full episodes of the classic 80s series linked by a few minutes of silly, new animation. The linking bits are awfully stupid, but the three shows are fantastic. Inspector Gadget videos were all over the place in the late 80s and early 90s, but recently, they have been scarce. Thankfully, now that Disney owns the rights, we may see more great videos like this one in the future. Lots of fun.

3-0 out of 5 stars Gadget! Good Clean Fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars Deep, thought provoking, a must see
This movie was a serious eye opener. It's an HIV/AIDS wake up call. This movie IMHO is a must see!!! By the end of the movie if you have been "irresponsible" with your own life, then this movie will hopefully make you change your ways. SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars IM FROM CHICAGO SO MAYBE I AM BIASED
I thought the movie was very thought-provoking. I spent another hour or so after watching this just imagining being in the predicament of the main characters. It inspired lots of conversation and I guess thats a good thing. You wont recognize anyone in the film unless you are from Chicago *wink wink* but it had an equal share of laughs, irony, realness and seriousness. It made me think of the movie Kids on another level but the message is still there in black or white.

4-0 out of 5 stars Remarkable and Educational
This movie is an excellent way to show young teenager the reality of AIDS. This movie shows the two sides of the African- American culture. The so-call player and working black man and their decisions for their life. This movie demonstrates no one is invisible from AIDS.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
If you have anyone who feels that HIV and AIDS is not a serious issue, well, you need to get a copy of this movie quick, fast and pronto. I have heard of this movie, but wasn't able to see it until last week when it came on Cable, and despite the cussing, despite the rawness(which is needed)it was a great flick. It should be in everyone's library.

4-0 out of 5 stars You Gotta Have This One In Your Collection
Excellent and thought-provoking movie. Superb dialogue. This movie definitely keeps it real and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The actors are believable, and the movie doesn't come across as preachy like most films about HIV and AIDS. With the right budget and backing from the major industry players, this could have been the "Boyz in the Hood" of it's genre. This movie should be shown to every teen/young adult and used as a public service. See this movie and then give it to a friend. ... Read more

The evil Dr. Claw has thrown Santa down a manhole and hypnotized theelves into breaking the very toys they've just been making. It's a job forInspector Gadget (voiced by Don Adams in his irrepressible Get Smartmode) with a big hand from his whip-smart niece Penny and her brainy dog. Thetrio heads up to the North Pole to rescue the big red guy, cheerfully butcher aChristmas song or two, and restore Yuletide order. Kids ages 3 and older willenjoy the hijinks as the bumbling inspector arrests the real Santa forimpersonation and uses his jet propeller hat, spring legs, and other gadgets togreat effect in Santa's workshop. This 23-minute video won't teach the kidstheir ABCs, but it's a lot of fun and there's something endearing about Penny'sefforts to help her clueless uncle. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not like the old TV series
I had seen Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas and I was rather embarassed by it. For one thing, the animation here seems like it was targeted for really small kids. The old animated series was done in the Japanese anime style (fact is, all the animation was made in Japan). With Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas, it looks like all the animation was made right here in America and it comes across as being surprisingly childish, while the original series was anything but childish. I guess the point here was they were trying to target this version of Inspector Gadget to the same kids who watch Barney, totally forgetting that there were plenty of people at that time (1992) who remembered the original series (simply because Nickelodeon was airing it on regular basis at that time, and still did until recently, now ABC Family, formerly Fox Family airs it). While Dr. Claw still sounds like his old self and you still don't see his face, and Penny and Brain is still doing Gadget's real work, I find this really dumbed down and really lacks the charm and appeal of the original series. To me I think this is a disgrace to the Inspector Gadget name, but I can be only thankful it's not quite as bad as the non-animated Disney made in 1999. ... Read more

Yes, it's true; Don Adams's Maxwell Smart act is little more than shtick, but marvelous shtick it is, and on Get Smart! with its half-hour doses of high-tech hooliganism, straight Bond parody, and uproarious slapstick, he made his mark as one of the more memorable comic figures of 1960s television. You wouldn't necessarily bet that Adams's trademark moves--deadpan mock-seriousness, smart-alecky catchphrases, and elastic faces--would translate well to the big screen; truth is, though, he's no more irritating than Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Murray, or any of the other comic leads of the early 1980s. In The Nude Bomb, the first (and only) Maxwell Smart movie, our secret agent 86 battles a mad KAOS scientist who possesses a fiendish weapon: one which will destroy the world's supply of clothing. Joined by several attractive compatriots (not, alas, Barbara Feldon, whose ultra-hip Agent 99--the crucial foil for the hyperactive Smart--is sorely missed), the hapless spy has 48 hours to confound the evil plot. Several hilarious premises, including a plan to render the weapon ineffective by wearing food, are adeptly exploited through winning and well-timed sight gags. Recommended not only to fans of Get Smart! but to those who appreciate high-spirited '80s comedy as well. --Miles Bethany ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars UNMEMORABLE (IT'S BEST POINT)
What the movie MISSION IMPOSSIBLE did for the TV series of the same name, THE NUDE BOMB does for (to) the TV series Get Smart. This film is absolutely irrepentable! It is actually saddening to watch this "sequel" to the TV series GET SMART. In it, the evil empire prepares to detonate a bomb that shall destroy all fabric (clothing). Hence, THE NUDE BOMB. That way the bad guys, whose clothes must be bomb-gaurded, can blackmail everyone lest they stay nude forever. Only the re-enactments of the crazy spy equipment from the TV series, and brief cameos from original cast members, offer a nominal enthusiasm for this petty disheartening tripe. No wonder 99 stayed home!

2-0 out of 5 stars I misssed rating it a 1 by ___ this much
Oh what a horrible movie. Soem parts where funny, some where recycled jokes from the TV series, but this movie of the return of Maxwell Smart was badly concepted. For starters, I think the worst thing was that Max's wife 99 is not in this movie at all! And it is not in the agent 86 charactor to play a James Bond type of Charactor, flirting with every woman, beeing every womans dream, and having a completly new love interest "get the girl at the end" type of thing going on. It is very painfull to watch that when you love the TV series and love that Max and 99 are unsepreable, and then this movie blew that up.

So Kaos is back, the bad guy is a guy with a stocking over his head, he has a bomb that destroys clothing... I dont give it a total 0 or 1 vote, there are a few chuckles here and there... I mostly rate it down because of the sexual inuendo thing goin on and ignorning that Barbra Feldon was Max's wife. If this movie was portrayed as a prequal to the TV series, it couldve worked for me... but it just didnt feel like Max, it was more a James Bond adventure!

I know many of you are unpatiently awaiting the release of the TV series on DVD, but till then, I recomend the movie that was made after this one called "Get Smart Again" which Barbra feldon returns as 99 and as Max's long time wife.... which is what you have to have to make Get Smart work.

This is a movie you might , well... not buy, not even rent, just forget about it, and if its ever on TV, and theres nothing better to do? then give it a glance..... but fans of the TV series will understand what I mean when I say it just dosent work without 99!

1-0 out of 5 stars Painful
This film was not funny. It was not campy. It was just bad. Stay far away from it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Where'd she go?????
...I absolutly love Get Smart, but please stick to Get Smart Again!(1989 film). At least that one has 99(Barbara Feldon) in it. After reading all the other reviews you can probably tell what the story is about. Kaos creates a device that makes clothes go bye-bye. Maxwell Smart(Don Adams) stops it. There it is in a nutshell. Now I've told you the story (if you call it a story), so I've saved you the misery of seeing this movie. I warned ya...

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Quite Smart
Do yourself a favor. If you are familiar with the 1960's spy spoof "Get Smart", keep your happy memories of that show intact and skip this movie. Some of the same creative minds that were behind that show were involved with this movie, but not many of them. The catchphrases are still here, but the effort is hollow. Agent 99 is not in this one, nor is she mentioned at all. Max is shown as a playboy who grins at his new female sidekick. Most of the jokes you can see coming from miles away, and when they arrive, they're still not funny. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A great start but frustratingly short!
This is an altogether too brief review of the great performers who graced the stage at The Hollywood Palace during this TV show's 7 year run. The TV special is hosted by Bing Crosby. Although the performances are great and we are treated to some funny outtakes and bloopers, this video review is just too short. The clips are often as short as 30 or 45 seconds and thus the TV show on this tape seems hurried. The video quality is surprisingly poor for a 1970 TV show; the lighting could have been better at least for the scenes with Bing that I assume were taped in 1969 or 1970! The sound quality is perfectly fine, however. In short, I recommend this video either for complete beginners who wish primarily to have a brief introduction to general vaudeville types of acts or for those die hard fans who yearn for a nostalgic view of The Palace performers in a brief 52 minute time span. A great introduction or review; but I didn't learn as much as I wanted to learn. Better luck next time! ... Read more

It's as stirring today as it was more than 30 years ago: "There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!" Once that nasally heroic cry echoes from the clouds, you'll want to sit on the floor in your pajamas on Saturday morning and eat cereal in front of the TV. The three episodes on this 40-minute video are quintessential Underdog. In "Underdog vs. Overcat," the evil Overcat steals Earth's cows when Planet Felina's milk wells run dry. Sweet Polly Purebred is kidnapped to milk the cows, but Underdog rescues her and returns the cows to Earth. Overcat challenges Underdog to a fight, with the cows going to the winner. Underdog triumphs, Overcat is banished, and Underdog plants coconut trees on Felina so the cats will always have milk. No surprises, but it's cleverly written and animated nonetheless. Just try to resist a wry smile during "The Flying Sorcerers," when King Cup and his two sons force Sweet Polly to bake them 500 cakes. Forumulaic, yes, and thoroughly enjoyable for current and former children. --Patty Stuart ... Read more

This classic 1964 television special featuring Rudolph and his misfit buddies set the standard for stop-motion animation for an entire generation before Tim Burton darkly reinvented it in the early 1990s. Burl Ives narrates as Sam the Snowman, telling and singing the story of a rejected reindeer who overcomes prejudice and saves Christmas one particularly blustery year. Along the way, he meets an abundance of unforgettable characters: his dentallyobsessed elf pal Hermey; the affable miner Yukon Cornelius and his motley crew of puppies; the scary/adorable Abominable Snow Monster; a legion of abandoned, but still chatty, toys; and a rather grouchy Santa. In addition to the title song that inspired it, this 53-minute tape is crammed with catchy tunes such as"Silver and Gold" and "Holly Jolly Christmas." Those who grew up looking forward to watching Rudolph every Christmas season will undoubtedly be able to recite the quotable quotes ("I'm cuuuute. She said I'm cuuuute." "Herbie doesn't like to make toys.") as well as any Casablanca cult audience. --Kimberly Heinrichs ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Go Rudolph! Go!
"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" is THE classic Rankin/Bass Animagic Christmas special. I could not imagine a holiday season going by without watching this at least once. Now, with this DVD, I can put away my "taped from television" copy and enjoy the complete, fully-restored splendor of Rudolph.

For the first time since 1964, the complete, unedited version can be seen on this DVD. Throughout the years, the special has been trimmed to allow for more commercial time, including the removal of a longer version of "We Are Santa's Elves", a duet reprise of "We're A Couple Of Misfits." The edits where made as long ago as 1965, so getting the complete version is a real treat. It even restores Rudolph's Elf friend's proper name, "Hermey" as opposed to the edited "Herbie."

Burl Ives has perhaps his most classic role as Sam the Snowman, singing many now-classic songs that were written for this program, such as "Holly-jolly Christmas" and "Silver and Gold." (Of course, he also sings Johnny Marks wonderful "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!")

The Animagic puppets are never more welcome than at Christmas. This is a really nice DVD, and includes extras such as an introduction by Arthur Rankin and the complete "Fame and Fortune" song that replaced the reprise of "We're A Couple Of Misfits" in 1965. What a wonderful DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Every-Year Holiday Classic!
This is one amazing show that everybody loves. The unforgettable characters and memorable music make "Rudolph" one of the videos my family never fails to watch each winter. See, I'm 16 years old and didn't grow up with all these stop-motion, "Animagic" Rankin/Bass holiday special shows, but I do love them. For the longest time I watched "Rudolph" every Christmas and "Peter Cottontail" every Easter, but didn't know the wealth of other wonderfully great shows awaiting me. Luckily just today I finished watching the Rankin/Bass marathon on TV, and was introduced to some other incredible classics that I must buy: "Pinnochio's Christmas," "Jack Frost," "The First Christmas," "The Little Drummer Boy," "Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey," "The Year without a Santa Claus" (the best one), "Rudolph's Shiny New Year," and more. I know most of the voice acting because I enjoy watching older TV sitcoms and game shows, in which all these 70's actors and actresses starred. "Rudolph" will always remain a favorite part of my holiday traditions. The characters of Yukon Cornelius, the Bumble, Clarice (Rudolph's girlfriend), and Hermey, along with the songs like "Silver and Gold" and "Santa's Elves"--oh, and let's forget the BEST part of all, those poor little Misfit Toys!--make this one video you can't afford to miss.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really great!
My mom said she watched this movie every year on TV when she was a kid and I've been wathcing it every year as well. It still makes me cry all the time! I highly reccomend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST CLASSIC FOR CHRISTMAS!!!
It took a year to put together,- each puppet, "Three Dimensional Object" cost $5.000,- over 100 technicians and craftsmen and a cost of $500.000 and the end result was a masterpiece. This is truly one of the BEST HOLIDAY films going. It's full of charm, love, adventure, and a meaning of friendship that only can come from a show like this. For me the memories come flooding back. I can remember the first time I saw this classic back in 1964, it was on "General Electric Fantasy Hour" at 5:30 to 6:30 on Sunday night on NBC. I remember running up to my room to watch it on my little black and white television. I never miss it. This DVD is a must for every home. The holidays just won't be the same without it.

Underdog, the oddball rhyming Superman of the canine world, is as enjoyable now as he was 30-plus years ago. He returns in Underdog Vs. Simon Barsinister, a 40-minute marathon of three original, eccentric episodes of The Underdog Show. In the first, "Shrinking Water," Sweet Polly Purebred shrieks helplessly for the floppy-eared dynamo after Simon Barsinister, the series' sparse-haired, swollen-eyed mad scientist, diabolically devises a way to shrink all the world's citizens into thumb-sized replicas of themselves. Predictably, Underdog swoops down to save the day, but not without a close call that requires the use of his Super Underdog Energy Pill. Polly is equally powerless in the second episode, "Vacuum Gun." Here, Barsinister sucks a crew of thugs into a magic vacuum in an attempt to form an army of criminal geniuses. Polly, inadvertently tangled up in the bad guys' barbaric scheme, squeaks a few feeble "Help--ooh, helps" and--hip, hip, hip--away Underdog goes. Finally, "Simon Says" finds Barsinister concocting yet another world-domination scheme, this one in the form of a camera that turns people into pictures. Have no fear, though--Underdog is here. He uses a mirror to bounce the picture-making rays back onto Barsinister, creating a not-so-pretty picture out of him, at least until next time. Not just nostalgic grownups but children 5 and older are apt to stay tuned to The Underdog Show. Its predictable, repetitive patterns (the airborne hero collides into a new, unforeseen obstruction at each episode's end, for instance) and simple story lines manage to never get tiresome. --Tammy La Gorce ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This is the BEST cartoon hero EVER!
I loved it as a kid...now my kid and his friends BEG to watch this.
This is a real must have!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars WOW!! MEMORY LANE!!
I have not seen UNDERDOG since it came on in the mid-60's. That theme song still gets to me.
It is interesting that Shoeshine speaks in prose while Underdog speaks in rhyme. Yes, some of the lines could have been done a little better, but who cares? This is for the children, not editors.
My youngest now want me to get copies of every UNDERDOG possible. They love the simple stories of how any underdog(aka any nobody) can win by doing the right thing.
I am glad to see these things from a little simpler childhood brought back. Things are too complex today.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yeah Underdog - fun for kids and their grownups
I actually bought this tape as a fun gift for my husband. We've often spoken of watching this show as children. He thought it was fun but it was our children who are hooked on it now. It's classic good versus evil but without the blooshed and nastiness of today's shows. The good guy wins and the bad guy loses and the hero is not perfect as evidended by his constantly flying into airplanes etc. Not to mention he takes his vitamins! The fact the a woman in the late 60s had a respected reporter job is nice too! Have fun with it and enjoy the memories!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply great!!! LONG LIVE UNDERDOG!!!!
I thought that this tape was good! The Vacuum Gun was the last cartoon of the series.. The Colors were great and the sound was crisp and clear... Underdog and Polly try to sop simon Barsinister from taking over the world.. The one where Simon was going to turn Underdog into a picture was campy at best, but I thought that it would have made a great full length cartoon. We even see Shoeshine boy 'try' to fight Simon! Seeing Underdog flying to her rescue, was the coolest thing! After turning all the pictures back into people they get blasted by 2 'baseballs!' Funny stuff!

4-0 out of 5 stars A great trip down memory lane
I was about five or six when I first watched Underdog. Until I bought this tape, I hadn't seen it in over twenty years.

The animation is bad.
The lines are horrible.
The plots are insipid.

But the trip down memory lane was priceless. If you are a nostalgia buff and want to relive a part of your childhood, this tape is for you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars UNDERDOG-THE MAD SCIENTIST CHRONICLES REPORT
Out of all the Underdog stories, The Phoney Booths was a personal favorite, At first i audiotaped it, it was very hard to do, because i never knew when it would show up, later i recorded what i could of it on Super 8 film, but today of course its availble on videotape to be watched anytime, The Big Dipper is another cartoon I tried recording on super 8 film there were inexpensive home vcrs in 1972, i also pick it as a favorite, These are said to be Simon Bar Sinisters best inventions, it finally looks like he's going to rule the world after all. The Phoney Booths would be ridiculous as a live action movie, who would believe this, flesh and blood people walking about with flashing light bulbs in their heads and nobody notices, Hollywood isnt that desperate or is it? ... There's no need to fear, Underdog is just as campy and cool asyou remember it. Underdog is the hippest of the '60s Saturday morning superheroes, the mild-mannered Shoeshine Boy who becomes the rhyming, supercharged do-gooder whenever the coy Sweet Polly Purebred is threatened. Thisis a topnotch children's show--campy, singsongy, and memorable, with theoccasional adult-directed jibe that lets you know that these writers liked to amuse themselves. In this series of episodes, Underdog battles the villainous Riff Raff and his evil doppelgänger Tap Tap the jeweler. Can Underdog's secret energy pill save the day? You won't have to tune in next week. --Brendan J. LaSalle ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars When Polly's in Trouble I Am Not Slow
Underdog was one of the great underrated cartoons of the 60s. Until recently, it was fondly remembered only in the memories of those of us who were children at the time. Now this collection is quite good. Riff Raff (never was sure whether he was a dog or a wolf) was one of my favorite villans and the "Just in Case" episode is a fond memory of mine. Good choice. I just hope that other forgotten cartoons of this era (Courageous Cat& Minute Mouse, Deputy Dawg, Go Go Gophers, Klondike Kat, Groovy Goolies, Everything's Archie, Tennessee Tuxedo, King Leonardo, etc. ) will someday see the light on video. As the great Wally Cox (voice of Underdog) used to say-"When Polly's in Trouble I am Not Slow-It's Hip Hip Hip and Away I go!"

5-0 out of 5 stars Underdog Wins Again!
Golden video did JUSTICE to Underdog be restoring these to their original brilliance... Best of all NO FILLERS or in between bits.. The one about the Hopeless Diamond was one of the first cartoons that introduced me to Underdog! This tape also includes the short where Tap Tap makes another Underdog costume, slips out of Jail, barrows some handcuffs, buys a bomb and threatned to blow her up if Underdog did not do what he said... These tapes should have been released like this a long time ago.. The ones from United American Video were Terrible... GREAT JOB GOLDEN HOME ENTERTAINMENT!!!! I hope that you release all the cartoons on VHS and DVD soon....

5-0 out of 5 stars If at first you don't succeed try,try again
Underdog on video. It was available on video before right?. Unlike those out of print videos released by UAV years ago these episodes are UNCUT AND DIGITALLY REMASTERED making them the definitive version of these cartoons on video and on DVD. If you remember the courageous canines adventures from Saturday mornings in the 1960's and '70's or on Cartoon Network before it disapeared these cartoons will bring a smile to your face be you young or old. If you like Rocky/Bullwinkle you'll love this. ...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Christmas TV Special
A Great Christmas TV special.Great songs and Great story. One of the best scenes is with the song "There's Always Tommorow" is romantic with the animals singing.

Air dates for the 60's are as follows:
12/6/64 Sunday, 5:30 - 6:30 NBC
12/5/65 Sunday, 5:30 - 6:30 NBC
12/4/66 Sunday, 5:30 - 6:30 NBC

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it more then the series, would you beleive it?
ok, well how about; i love it more then "the nude bomb?"

This is a great movie, and at a great price! This movie may contain a few of the old gags seen in the TV series and recycled a few of the old jokes aswell, its still classic Get Smart material!

After the years have passed, Max and his wife 99 have retired from the spy buisness. Only to discover that there old arch rival Kaos is back in buisness, and with the new spys of the day not equiped to handle taking them on, they find Maxwell Smart to come back and help them!

And the goofyness of Max is back in black and hitting the sack as good as ever before! Alot of the original cast of the TV series have returned and it is very much a film that was worth making! Almost like a reunion for a show that never got a final episode!

This movie is great and contains all your favorite Get Smart lines and antics except maybe one? but they only missed it by __that much! err, sorry about that chief!

But the hillarious goofyness of max and the team is as great as ever, tho they may have all ages, this is a great flick!

If they ever release "the nude bomb" on DVD, i strongly recomend you do not watch that one! It pretty much had nothing to do with the tv series and went more James Bond style, it wasnt funny, it completly screwed up the knowledge of cast and freinds of the TV series, and 99 wasnt even anywhere in sight, and seeing max as guy scoring with all the chicks was not a good idea! Max and 99 are ment to be together forever, and this movie revived that crappy movie they made before this one!

4-0 out of 5 stars "Missed it by that much!"
This should be the standard for which all made for TV reunion movies should follow! "Get Smart, Again" aired on ABC in the early 90's to very high ratings with good reason, It's good! Would you believe, Great! Yes, Great!
CONTROL is back in business to fight the evil forces of KAOS!
The old gang is back Agent 86 (Don Adams), Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon), Hymie (Dick Gautier) to stop the sinister Sigfried (Bernie Kopell) Besides most of the original cast returning many of the series original creative team has returned. Leonard B. Stern, Mark Curtiss & Rod Ash wrote the script and Gary Nelson directed. The movie preserves all of the flavor of the comedy of the Get Smart series yet makes it contempoary enough for today's audiences something the makers of the dreadful 1980 feature film "The Nude Bomb" also starring Don Adams did not do!
The reason my rating is not 5 stars is because of the DVD itself!
The picture quality is very poor. The color is washed out, there is no sharpness or brightness every scene looks as if it were filmed through gauze! The DVD package says "Digitally Mastered" but mastered from what, a VHS tape? Don't let the poor quality of the DVD discourage you. The excellent quality of the movie, the script and all the performances are worth the price! A must have for all "Get Smart" fans! Until we get the complete orginal series on DVD or even a better print of "Get Smart, Again" this will have to do!

2-0 out of 5 stars Get Smart Again - OK, But Where's the Original Series
As many who have created reviews here have said, when's the original series coming out? Probably the political correctness crowd would have a cow over this series, but who cares? It's got the Mel Brooks stamp on it.

As for this remake, yes it's got some of the old jokes in there. But instead of the cone of silence, they tried to one-up the original series by introducing "hover cover" and the "hall of hush". While these were good tries, I miss the Chief and Max trying to talk under the cone of silence. I also miss the original hallway Max walks down with all its doors. In the new version this hallway is out of commission. Boo!

Also, all the old characters are there, but they seem stale compared to the original cast, and of course, there's no Chief. Also, they try to get cute with Siegfried's character by giving him a double role. It doesn't work.

IF the execs get their heads screwed on straight and come out with these DVDs they should just skip the first year and go straight to year 2 when the series was in color. For the afficionados they can offer year 1 later, but to draw a better response they should just issue year 2 if they're going to do anything at all.

I agree with a lot of the comments made already regarding this series. With all the garbage available nowadays on DVD I can't see why they haven't already issued this series. But maybe the studio execs can't figure out how to tone down the original without ticking off half a dozen ethnic groups.

Some years ago I happened to see an episode of Get Smart on either TV Land or Nickelodeon. I thought it was a scream. It had one of those 60's comedy hacks on as "da craw" (the claw). Of course, Max didn't understand that he was trying to say claw, so the villian says "not da craw, DA CRAW!" And it had the same jokes in it about "get your knee off my chest" and the cone of silence and Max's claims to having "10 agents with dobermann's outside, would you believe it?"

Maybe it'll just take a little more time and buyer interest to bring this excellent series back.

5-0 out of 5 stars The DVD mentioned below is an illegal bootleg - Avoid it!
Get Smart has never been released legally on DVD and anyone selling them is selling illegally made copies. They claim to be selling the "complete show of 96 episodes," but there were 138 episodes, not 96, so you can see right at the start they're not reputable dealers. Remember, anyone selling bootlegs is inherently dishonest, as they are committing a crime by making and selling these bootlegs, so why would you expect them to be honest and fair in their dealings with you? Don't support piracy and I think it's pretty disgraceful that Amazon allows reviews that let people sell illegal bootlegs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very intelligent approach
Don Adams paints a landscape in this video from start to finish. He clearly explains and shows what to do at each step. The script is intelligent, clear, and to the point. The production standards are quite homemade, but the photography is sharp and excellently illustrates the message. My only complaint is that I could not find a similar video by Don Adams on another oil painting topic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Learn Oil Painting the Old Way
An excellent video for beginners. Very clear and easy to follow instruction. Ability to complete a painting while watching. I wish the artist had more videos available.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the price
I liked it. It illustrated how to put paint onto the canvas (or other)with as little effort as possible. The lack of info on the carton didn't bother me as I can CLEARLY see in the ad that the artists' name is Don Adams. I enjoyed his Bob Ross approach to paint for the fun of it and worry about the details later (or never).

1-0 out of 5 stars Amateurish and Poorly Made
The quality of both the content and production of this video is VERY poor. Unfortunately, I can't recommend an alternate video for oil painting; however any of the following books would be a much better choice: "All About Techniques in Oil," "The Oil Painting Book," (Cheevy), "Oil Painting for the Serious Beginner," (Allrich) or any of the artist books published by Watson-Guptill or North Light.

1-0 out of 5 stars I Can't Believe I Actually Paid Money For This Film
I feel I'm being generous in giving one star. This is one of the poorest videos in my collection. If you're a beginner, please don't start here. It will teach you bad habits that you will just have to "unlearn" when you finally do start painting. ...

To me I think this is a disgrace to the Inspector Gadget name, but I can be only thankful it's not quite as bad as the non-animated Disney made in 1999. ... Read more
