5-0 out of 5 stars Lundgren's Best
This is by far Dolph Lundgren's best movie. He has often came across a bit stiff in his movies as Arnold Schwarzenegger did in some of his first films like Commando. In this movie Lundgren seems comfortable and it shows. I think Dolph Lundgren and Brian Benben were a good match up here. The chemistry is like putting Devito with Schwarzenegger in "Twins". Add in Lundgren's love interest, Betsy Brantley, one really mean alien played by Matthias Hues, and you have a great cast. This movie has an excellent story line, good direction, and super sets and music. There is plenty of action and the movie has a nice pace. Add in some really cool weapons, and lookout. When two aliens that look human land on the planet there is never a dull moment. One of the aliens extracts endorphines from humans as a drug for other aliens. The other alien that has landed on Earth is a lawman and was sent to track the drug dealer. He will need Lundgren's and Benben's help to catch him. Throw in the fact that the alien drug dealer takes on drug dealers on Earth and you have non stop action. Don't miss this movie. Any fan of the TV series "Miami Vice", or the movies "Predator" and "Blade Runner", should like it. It's like they combined some Police versus drug dealers with some strange aliens thrown in to the mix with some great supporting roles. I love Caine's friend at the University, but he needs to switch to decaf instead of all that Jolt or whatever he's drinking. I can't believe they haven't put this on DVD yet. I will snap it up when they do.

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Lundgren doing what he does best kicking.......
Dolph lundgren and Brian Benben star as two cops on the trail of an alien killer who is harvesting endorphins using them as drugs,This is a cut above Alien invasions thanks to wit and nifty action scenes. I Come In Peace was directed by Craig R. Baxley (A former stuntman) and he directs ICIP with panache and style and the action setpieces are fun to watch as Dolph Lundgren and Matthias Hues stalk each other in a landscape of urban hell.........the title is for a follow up of one of Lundgren's best lines...........And you go in pieces..... I Come In Peace is one of those movies to watch on one of those rainy days where nothing is on TV. I Come In Peace's humor is so refreshing and the action so well staged you'll be glued to boobtube!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome!
I think this movie deserves an Academy Award for science fiction action drama(if there was one).I mean, why should a stupid film like Chicago get an award and not an awsome movie like this one.I've never seen a film about a drug addicted alien that comes to Earth in search of a fix and a kill until I watched "I Come in Peace" back in the early 90's.It's very well acted and you get to like the characters very much.Forget about all of the negetive comments that are given to this rare sci-fi movie and add it to your collections as soon as possible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Where's the DVD version?
This is a cult-classic sci-fi movie. Suspenseful, clever and action-packed. It needs to be immortalized on a DVD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Jimi Hendrix with a dryer full of TI-DIYED shirts
I saw this movie when it first came out in the theatres in around 1990. I was only eight years old back then. My brother's friend who saw the showing before me said that it scared him and asked if i was sure that I wanted to see it. Well, i saw it and was glad that i did. When i was growing up, Dolph Lundgren was a movie star. I remember his movies like Red Scorpion, Master of the Universe, The punisher, A view to a kill, and this one. This movie is the best out of the bunch for sure. Brian Benben and Dolph have really good chemistry, but Benben should be smart enough to trust Kane(Lundgren) rather than his shady FBI superiors. Mgm always makes out of this world, entertaining movies and this is one of the great ones. Make this a DVD. I love the part where Kane goes into Warren and the whiteboys' office building and kicks the crap out of three punks who try to stop him from interrupting the bad guys meeting. SEE THIS MOVIE IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars International Religious Intrigue
Amid the backdrops of London, Paris, Rome and other beautiful cities, Steven Randall, a PR man, uncovers intrigue relating to a controversial religious discovery -- a new NEW TESTAMENT. He's on the trail of the truth, finding murder and mayhem along the way. David Janssen is slick, cool and confident until put on trial for the theft of an important religious artifact which will prove his case that the controversy is a hoax after all. Beautiful scenery and cityscapes, an all over mellow mood with appropriately romantic score.

3-0 out of 5 stars Another more complete version
There is another version of this video. It is called "The Word" by USA Home Video, and it has two tapes in a pack with 188 minutes in a full length feature film (according to the box).

3-0 out of 5 stars NOT the complete series!
This edition consists of 3 50 minute tapes. With 3 tapes, you'd think they would feature the complete mini-series. But many character scenes have been cut, especially those by John Huston! Still worth seeing until a better version comes along. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars WHY ISN'T IT ON DVD
I would rate it as a five if the whole TV mini-series made it on the tape. It was a very well done, made for TV movie. Bette Davis is excellent, but then isn't she always great. Rosanne Arquette was young, but gave a very good performance; So did the actors who played Nick Constantine and Worthy Pettinger. Worth producing on DVD with commentary by the author of the book, director and the living actors and actresses. Ask them what it was like to work with Bette Davis.

The evil role Davis played in "Harvest Home" was as good as her performance on "What Every Happened to Baby Jane?"

Everytime I travel to Maine I can picture the harvest home festival. Makes you a little afraid of those New Englanders and the secrets they may hold. If you liked Harvest Home you may also want to buy Dead and Buried with Jack Albertson and James Firorentino. Another New England chiller, alot like something Stephen King would write. (Reminds me of Monhegan Island, Maine "Spooky")

Don't buy Harvest Home on tape demand a full DVD Version.

NEED THE WHOLE THING ON DVD NOT JUST PARTS.

2-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A FIVE STARS MINI SERIE
I purchased the VHS version and was extremely disappointed by the extensive cuts performed on the tape. Where is the Worthy story, he is an integral part of the story....what was left was
not worth watching. I only watched the tape once, when I received it. Bring the entire story on DVD

3-0 out of 5 stars DARK SECRET OF HARVEST HOME
DISAPPOINTED IN THE SOUTH
I cannot begin to explain how disappointed I was with the VHS of this movie that I purchased for too much money then to realize that I did not have the entire miniseries. Please put this movie on DVD so many people would like to see the whole thing as it was shown on TV originally. All in all I loved the movie but if someone is seeing it for the first time an they've already been told about it. It really can't be appreciated with the hachet job thats been done on it. Entire miniseries On DVD PLEASE!!!!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Give us the FULL SERIES on DVD!!!
Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of outrage at the hatchet job that was done to this VHS release of this classic horror TV mini-series.

I really hope somebody out there in DVD-makerland pays attention and hears that there are many people out here waiting for this to come out (uncut, with the picture cleaned up and remastered) on DVD.

And while you're at it, how about the TV mini-series of Stephen King's "The Shining", another exceptional TV effort that definitely merits DVD release.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHERE'S THE DVD OF THIS CLASSIC TV MINI-SERIES?
I remember watching this on tv when it first came out, and later reading the book. Excellent adaptation of a very creepy and disturbing story, kinda along the lines of The Wicker Man. Have been patiently (not) waiting for the whole mini-series to be released on DVD, and not a chopped up version that is almost impossible to find on vhs that is overpriced! PLEASE, I IMPLORE SOMEONE TO FINALLY RELEASE MOVIES THAT ARE REALLY ENTERTAINING AND MAKE YOU FEEL SOMETHING, AND NOT JUST THE SAME MOVIES RELEASED IN SPECIAL VERSIONS, EXTRA LONG VERSIONS, SUPERBIT VERSIONS, DIRECTORS VERSIONS, ETC. 5-0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming family Christmas movie
I love this movie. I am from the Smoky Mountains and now live in SE Georgia. I love to watch this movie to remind me of home, or what I call "God's country".

This movie is a little hokey in places, but all in all, a nice family movie. It is a totally safe movie to watch with your children. No obscene language or violence.

I wish it would be released on DVD. I try to watch it on TV every year. This year (2003) CMT is airing it several times. Go to www.cmt.com to see air dates and times.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Christmas Movie for the Holidays!
This is a warm and funny movie for the entire family. A lot of hijenks and a little bit of funny whitchcraft that makes you just want to laugh yourself silly! Dolly Parton and Lee Majors give great performances along with the rest of the cast. I love this movie! And you will too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fairy Tale with a Twist!
This rehash of an old fairy tale, Snow White, is lively and fun! OK, so it won't win a lot of awards, but it doesn't matter! This is a tale of Holiday depression turned into love, with a lot of bumps along the way! Some of the "mystical" moments are far-fetched, but that just adds to the fun! I LOVE this movie and it is a tradition for me to watch it EVERY Christmas! I would recommend this to any family or single! It's just an all-around nice movie, especially for Christmastime!

My only regret is that the soundtrack is not available on CD!!

4-0 out of 5 stars "There's an art to being incidental."
An artful little film. The plot isn't original -- estranged father and son reconciling in the nick of time -- and has been done before and since (Jack Lemmon, "Tribute", "Dad"; Paul Newman, "Harry and Son"; Jackie Gleason, "Nothing in Common"). But director Henry Winkler keeps "Memories of Me" happy-poignant rather than tragic, and earns big kudoes for keeping the runaway talents of Billy Crystal and Alan King on-track as much as he does. Where the film shines are the incidentals that make life good.

Crystal plays the straight man, for the most part (only a few runaway moments), Dr. Abbie Polin, a New York heart surgeon who suffers a coronary while working on some nice lady's heart ("Kansas?"). JoBeth Williams, playing his shikse ladyfriend, Lisa ("Dr. Christian"), goads Abbie into reconciling with the father he'd led her to believe was dead. So Abbie is off to California, where Pop, King as Abe Polin, is "the King of the Extras".

Williams' performance is easily overlooked, but she also has one of the best lines in summing up Abbie's aloofness, "You are great in bed, but then you don't know how to hold my hand." And King hasn't often carried a film to this degree ("Just Tell Me What You Want" being another), but he and Crystal are magic together.

Some highlights: Abbie's trumpeting. Abbie keeping up with the pink-clad jogger. The history of the courtroom wawlah. The singing impression/telegram. Abe calling for a hora on Olvera Street, with mariachis ("Have a tequila!"). Abbie standing in as Abe's agent, and Abe's casting interview. Abe rehearsing his death scene ("You will notice that the picture is slightly askew.").

The DVD transfer is anamorphic but otherwise nothing special. What artifacts and graininess remain aren't distracting. Includes the original full-screen theatrical trailer along with pitches for other MGM releases. A blooper reel, if such could be unearthed for a future repackaging, is for now, alas, sorely missing.

Even so, as Abbie says, "This is an interesting collage."

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't listen to the naysayers -- this is a gem
Billy Crystal and Alan King turn in memorable performances as an estranged son and father confronting past hurts, who finally learn to appreciate one another and thus, get on with living -- just in time. As you would expect from such comedic giants, the timing, humor and chemistry are excellent. A poignant film that balances a heavy subject with humor and thoughtful perspective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Commical Yet Dramatic
Looking for a Dramatic movie that has some laughs in it?? No...they don't do dumb things like bumping eachother over the head with bricks...it's the funny things they say. If you are into good commedy, you'll love this movie. Lines such as "My gosh i'm shrinking....when i die you can burry me in a shoe box" is just an example of the laughs and tears this movie has in store for YOU!

3-0 out of 5 stars A realistic reflection of life as a movie extra and more.
Sorry all, my opinion is jaded as I played a bit part in the film as the TOMATO, yes the tomato. They covered my face with green makeup, my legs with green tights and of course a giant round red tomato suit. Going to the lunchroom (sans the tomato suit) was embarrasing but funny too... Hollywood! Also not that anyone will read this but, Sean Connery was in one scene and off camera he and I were checking out a penny on the ground, I looked at him like "no, you take it" so he did! Said Connery "a penny is still money, right?" Why do I remember this stuff?

So Memories of Me will always be a memory for me. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars UNFIT FOR FAMILY VIEWING
I was disappointed with the contents of this movie. The story was entertaining but the vulgarity and swearing was uncalled for. I am sure that the Mountain Men's language left little to be desired but I believe that in this movie it was not needed. There were a couple of sexual oriented scenes that made this movie unfit for family viewing. The era of the Mountain Men is a period in our history that we should be proud of and we should be able to share it with our families. It is hard for a parent to want our our kids to expierence the beautiful scenery and adventure of this movie and not be worried about the next scene. I own other movies of the Mountain Men era and this is the first one that I can truly say is not for family viewing.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Beginning of Accuracy
The Movie "The Mountain Men" was a great beginning in trying to display some form of Accuracy of the way life was during the fur trade era. I would like it remade with actual Indian actors, and with a longer story line. I agree it could have been made without the swearing even though the Mountain Men of old probably had a foul mouth. However, for home entertainment, it's not necessary. The movie is great at this time for anyone's collection, and until it's redone, or another of better quality is released.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Sit down, flatlander."
Hawken muzzle loaders. Plugs of chewing tobacco the size of your fist. Buffalo robes. Beaver pelts. Jugs of whiskey.

But enough about last night's party.

Director Richard Lang's THE MOUNTAIN MEN is a rough-and-tumble yarn depicting the fur trapping industry's final days in the pristine splendor of the northern Rockies. Even in such a remote region, the demand back East for top hats made of beaver skin resulted in the virtual extinction of the buck-toothed rodents in their mountain habitats; on top of that, silk hats were rapidly becoming the fashion craze, creating even more of a hardship on the gritty mountain men who trapped along countless streams and rivers, searching for what remained of the elusive beaver population.

It was a hard life, predicated on an individual's ability to survive in a harsh environment based on his wits and his bare hands. Interaction with other people was rare--the need to get along with neighboring Indian tribes a must. And infrequently, perhaps once every two or three years, the trappers would unite at a "rendezvous" to trade their pelts for cash and let off a little steam. To say that such a gathering was rowdy and violent is kind of like saying turtles have shells.

Charlton Heston "shines" (a little mountain man lingo, there) as fur trapper Bill Tyler, a quiet man who only wishes to be left alone so he can find that last valley just teeming with beaver. But there's a problem: while fighting off a band of Blackfoot bent on stealing his horses and supplies he attracts the company of a young squaw (Victoria Racimo) who happens to be married to a chief with a very serious attitude (Stephen Macht). Thus Tyler and his new companion are forced to run, and run, and run some more to escape the warrior's wrath.

While Heston is solid in his role, Brian Keith absolutely steals the show as crusty Henry Frapp. Henry, a friend of Tyler's, is a cantankerous, foul-mouthed, fun-loving old coot who vividly breathes life into the mountain man persona. Keith dominates every scene he's in, and he's fun to watch.

Heck, THE MOUNTAIN MEN is fun to watch. The screenplay, incidentally, was written by Heston's son, Fraser, who obviously did his homework concerning this fascinating aspect of the Old West. Grab a plug of tobacco and enjoy.
--D. Mikels

4-0 out of 5 stars Baudy and Entertaining
This show has a fairly good story line, fine acting and stunning scenery. I saw this show when it was first released and the one aspect of the picture that I think I loved the most is the dialect. This was the first time I ever heard 'Uncle Bill'(Brian Keith)swear! The movie might not be historically accurate, or maybe it is...I don't really know or care. I grew up in Wyoming, and the way Tyler and Frapp carry on as the grumpy, mangy, grizzled old farts that they are just seemed natural to me. The one scene when Tyler happens upon Frapp in the middle of a frozen lake(Tyler has written off Frapp after seeing him 'killed'and subsequently scalped by Indians) and remarks on the scalping "Well, it sure must have smarted some"...Frapp agrees and displays a broad patch missing hair...Take me Bill Tyler..Take me!!! HEH!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining and Instructive....for Muzzleoaders
This movie is very entertaining and very instructive for muzzleloading enthusiasts, who participate in shooting and tomahawk throwing contests at annual rendez-vous. It shows several crucial aspects of that rough life of independent, freedom-loving, beaver trappers, or mountain men. This movie may also help to promote the sale of St. Louis Hawken rifles (Heston = Chairman of the NRA) and to raise the interest in a relatively unknown historical era towards the end of the fur trade, between, say, the Lewis and Clark Expedition by the Corps of Discovery in 1803-06 and the Fall of the Alamo in 1836, a simpler historical period, clearly far before the Civil War and its gutwrenching questions raised by the abolition of slavery, and the following unreal "cowboy" wild west fights between ranchers and settlers, as portrayed by John Wayne. The somewhat flat story of this movie "Mountain Men," of "bad indians" versus "good (white male) beaver trappers," partially fighting about an indian squaw, plays out in the Rocky Mountains near the Grand Tetons (Jackson Hole, Wisconsin), just south of the border between Canada and the USA. Some individual special fights and flights are quite well executed, e.g., a jump from a cliff in a foaming river and the portrayal of very old, but still lascivious "Jim Bridger" in his suit of steel at the rendez-vous is priceless. But, don't go to see the movie for the story, but go to see it for the bawdy and rough life style of these free-spirited mountain men, their muzzleloaders and tomahawks and their acoutrements. That life is far less idyllic and Arcadian than the 1837 drawings of Alfred Miller. See it for the spectacular scenery and vistas of the Rocky Mountain. And, of course, see it for Charleston Heston, as a fairly credible 50-year old "Lion in Winter," who, initially reluctantly, but soon convincingly, hooks up with a "trophy wife" in the form of a pretty indian squaw. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Slammin' Jonny Quest
This is the best cartoon of all time. Being a major fan since I was two years old (that was back when the lesser known 1980's Jonny Quest came out) it was an excellent change to have a reaccuring female characture in the show (besides Jezebel Jade). Personally they should bring back this show. It shows excellent team work and it does discuss some everyday themes hidden in a realm of action and adventure. An amazing combination. Plus this video actually shows the Quest team in shorts (minus Dr. Benton C. Quest, he's in kakie cargo pants) All in all, this is an excellent show...

5-0 out of 5 stars The first episodes
Jonny Quest: The Real Adventures is my favorite TV show, so of course I like this tape. But these are the show's very first episodes, so it's worth to have it. Although it doesn't explain anything, I mean, about their origins or the new character, Jessie Bannon, who was introduced in the movie released before (which might be a problem, if you didn't watch it), there's a lot of action, and the quality of the animation is one of the best. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars i have never forgotten this movie
the first thing i ever saw sally struthers in after all in the family...she was great...absoloutely. i have not forgotten how terrifying this movie was to me...and like i said i still think of it as far as being raped in your own home...that's why i bought it.
i watched it with my mom...and just bought it. though surprised i found it anywhere...but glad i did...cause i want my daughter to watch it with me...

5-0 out of 5 stars Sally Struthers at her finest!!!
Should be more than five stars!!!... While this movie did not receive wide acclaim, it struck me when as a 12-year old so many years ago how incredibly dramatic and versitile Sally Struthers was as an actress. Up to that point the only thing that I'd seen her in was "All In The Family" and then there was this movie; totally blew me away. I don't have a copy of it, yet, but I'm in search of one, and once I find it, I'll never let it go. It's one of those classic's that belongs right up there with "Gone With The Wind", "Auntie Mame", "Imitations of Life" and "The Manchurian Candidate"

This HBO docudrama depicts the notorious 1971 prison revolt at the Attica State Penitentiary in upstate New York. One can sense the mastery of veteran theatrical feature director John Frankenheimer in the movie's gripping suspense and gritty, hard-hitting realism. The semifictionalized narrative is told from the point of view of young Michael Smith (Kyle MacLachlan), a newly recruited prison guard.(The real Smith worked as a consultant on the film.)When Smith arrives at Attica, the place is a revolt waiting to happen. When riots break out and the inmates take command of the prison, Smith and several other guards are held hostage. In this powder-keg climate, a relationship develops between Smith and the rebellion's wise, cool-headed leader, Jamaal (the superb Samuel L. Jackson), a political prisoner representing the African Liberation Movement. The insurrection at Attica became emblematic of protests taking place all over the United States at the time."We've got a civil war going on in this country," says one prison guard, "This is where we hold the line."Against the Wall illustrates in no uncertain terms which side won this particular battle, and at what tragic cost. Then it goes one step further, becoming a platform for contemporary prison reform. The film's terrific performances include Clarence L. Williams III as a wild-eyed, malcontent prisoner, Frederic Forrest as a rabid prison guard, and Anne Heche as Smith's stalwart wife. --Laura Mirsky ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Cool!
It's an excellent and shocking film about a dark event of an American prison. The actors are fantastic. It's worth seeing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kyle Gets Out Alive--Without Shoes!
Action packed with lots of violence and moral messages about prison rights, this one'll grab you. Maclachlan as the newest guard tries to do the right thing initially, only to be thwarted by his superiors. Once the prisoners have taken over, politics keep things from being resolved effectively; meanwhile, Micheal Smith (Kyle) gives a speech about prisoners' mistreatment to TV reporters but won't accept shoes!! Anyway, he lives. Not everone else does. Pretty intense flick.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't be mislead
For those of you who have read arielera's review of this movie I would just like to clear up some things. There are some discrepencies in this movie as with all Hollywood films about real-life events. There was no bar owned by my grandfather in which my uncle Mike would visit after work - by the way he is not an alcoholic. Sometimes movies need to include parts that didn't really exist because the story can not get the point across without a little embellishment. However, this is a great movie which depicts a lot about what really happend during those days.

4-0 out of 5 stars Justice Done At Last
I am a native Attican, living elsewhere now, but truly
an Attican. I was 17 when the events of this movie occured.
As acted and the accuracy of events written, this movie
captures as close to the truth as I've ever witnessed. All
of the actors have now gone on to do excellent work, but
to date, none can do a better thing than the truth they told
in this piece. There are small and great stories that beg to
be passed on. I am not the arbitor of which category Attica
falls in. But it needed to be well told----and so it was.

I wish someday that someone would tell the truth of the
tenor of the town itself. Though there was a local "watering
hole" represented, I fail to know which it was ------or
a compilation of them all-----all five or six in a village
of, at that time, 2,000-----plus or minus a few. The truth
is, the real census records INCLUDE the population of the
prison. Part of what every lexicon of the riot excludes is
the real danger posed by the town's people. There are few
I knew that weren't expecting a deluge of inner-city
"blacks" to invade the town with the intent of holding
hostage the "innocent" residents. Not a man with a gun failed
to have it parked by the door. Actually, man or woman.
A village, economically depressed and relying on the sole
industry of warehousing human beings is a strange little
society. The film was effective and faithful in representing
the secrecy or "don't ask" policy of the guards and the
town. The direction to alcohalism the rookie headed was
true. It may be true or not now. Then, it was a fact. The
degredation of the prisoners was a fact. The feeling and
unacknowledged fear the guards felt every day was true.
The notion they were never armed is NOT true. Most had personal
or State issued side arms. Fact.
The movie is a great endeavor well done. Same players,
from front to back lines------finish the story.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly brutal but undeniably powerful!
A very under-rated tv movie that deverse a lot of praise becasue it is one of the most brutal and gripping movies I've seen! The cast including Samuel L Jackson and Kyle Mclauhlan were really good and the direction of John Frankenheimer really added a lot of punch to this powerful and brilliant movie. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Why was this film necessary?
This is one of those movies that turned up on cable and I couldn't help but watch simply to make fun of. A terrible, predictable, poorly acted, horribly scripted carton of eggs dropped on the floor excuse for a film.

Yes, I can accept it's in the action genre - typically many are challenged - but this used every cliche possible at least twice and was completely uninteresting the whole way through. Yes, there's a handsome male lead who happens to have a gorgeous girlfriend despite the fact that he has a horrible job... and yes, he is an ex-solider trying to hide his past. Yes, they have perfect sex (you know... slow, showing only breast, both looking DEEPLY into each other's eyes... pheh!) Yes, his morally bankrupt former commander comes out of the woodwork (despite being thought dead, oo!) and makes him face his past.

I don't want to give anymore of this less-than-thrilling plot away lest you have any inkling to watch it... but try to find a copy of Boondock Saints (from Canada) or get I Come In Peace with Dolph Lundgren and Brian Benben... they at least have a sense of humor.

4-0 out of 5 stars Violent, shocking and fast movie!
In 1997, Burt Reynolds was at the peak of his finance troubles, and, taking every role offered, he did five or six movie just that year. Boogie Nights was one of those films he did just for the money but that, by fate's irony, saved his career and made him a movie star again (Reynolds is now finishing an action flick with Richard Dreyfuss, The Crew, produced by Barry Sonnenfeld). Anyway, the other ones are not bad movies. The Hunter's Moon, for example, counted with Reynolds' powerful performance, and with a great cast (including Keith Carradine), Crazy Six had a lot os style and plenty of cool scenes (Albert Pyun, the director of this one, is known for having his own way of making films) and Pups, not yet released in the United States, is an interesting hostage drama. Raven is a low-budget action movie. Jerry Katz, a .k. a . Raven (Reynolds) is a cold and cynical mercenary who has to lead his men into enemies' lines to recover a decoder for the Pentagon. They are betrayed by their bosses, and the mission is damned, a complete fiasco. But Raven scapes, and he wants to set scores. He will do what it takes (including blowing up buildings) to have his personal revenge.Russel Sohlberg did few action movies as a director, but the ones he did as a stunt director were impressive. He is responsible for the stunt scenes in the Die Hard series and many others, so, at least, Raven has pretty good adventure moments. From the begining (where Raven's team have to recoved the decoder and get involved in a gun shooting) to the end, the film is a "tour de force" marked by the extreme violence. Burt Reynolds is terrific as the cynical and violent Raven, he has memorable lines and, although Raven didn't helped to rescue his authority back (what was reserved to Boogie Nights), it is a uncompromising entertainment.

4-0 out of 5 stars good movie!!
burt reynolds' character was very calculating, but matt battaglia's performance was great. would love to see matt playing the lead in more action/adventure movies.

4-0 out of 5 stars Burt Reynolds and Krista Allen keep this movie interesting.
If it were not for the talent and beauty of Krista Allen, this movie would be a bomb. Burt Reynolds as the evil commander, makes this one of his best roles in recent memory.

2-0 out of 5 stars "They smile in your face...."
Skinny leads who confuse sadomasochism for a meaningful relationship double-cross one another along with John Lithgow, until everyone, by default, is double-crossing him- or herself, not to mention everyone in the phone book whose surname starts with the same letter as theirs.  If this is your idea of entertainment, seek this one out.  I'm thinking of feeding mine to the dumpster.  Two stars, and only because the brilliant John Lithgow can make anything worth watching while he's on the screen.

A stylish keep 'em guessing thriller with top-notch talent and clever twists and dialogue. The writer-director really knows his stuff and keeps the pace moving. Roberts is excellent as are many of the secondary characters. Unfortunately, the girl isn't very good. Five stars. Better than anything on TV and much of what's on the big screen.

4-0 out of 5 stars LC$S review
A tight noirish thriller with some surprising twists and turns. Definately a cut above the usual fare. I especially liked the acting and the look of the picture. Writer-director Curran gets high marks for his stylish direction on a shoe-string budget and his imaginative plot and snappy dialogue. A top recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars ERIC ROBERTS' BEST MOVIE
Eric Roberts probably deserved an award for his performance in this flick. Roberts plays a convicted bank robber who was set up and sent to jailby his ex-wife who he discovers has since married a rich banker in California. . Roberts breaks out of jail, kills 2 guards, promptly bangs a girl he picks up at a landromat and then proceeds to find his ex-wife and make her life a living hell. I don't want to give the whole movie away, but it's worth the buy. The whole cast is pretty good (John Lithgow, Madchin Amick, etc.) Eric Roberts is a sinister sociopath and this is a vintage performance for him. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars her greatest fear is
Who would have guessed from her 1991 Victim of Beauty that Jennifer Rubin could steal a movie? But steal this one she does, even outshining usually stronger performers like Christine Lahti and Dylan McDermott. It probably helps that Rubin's role as the new tenant of agoraphobe Lahti's house and girlfriend of McDermott is a psychopath, but Rubin is very funny and as physically free as she was stiff as the model in the Paul Lynch film. At times she reminded me of Sharon Stone, and I liked her screaming that she does what she likes in Lahti's face. The screenplay by David Birke doesn't give much explaination for Lahti's phobia. She tells McDermott that is a progression of her panic disorder but we're not told of the incident that pushed her to this extreme, and we know there had to be one because at one point Rubin reads from a psychology book, and of course makes fun of the pseudonyms used for patient testimony. Lahti remains housebound to make her an easy target for a pair of criminals seeking refuge, with a house that features Caligali-like narrow hallways with tiny doors. Director Leon Ichaso uses either a golden brown tint to show how homey the location is or a blue phospherous lighting state for nightmarish ultraviolet atmosphere, and eventually any kind of truth Lahti tries for is dwindled away by the endless reincarnations and the increased meaninglessness.

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting movie
I enjoyed the movie, somewhat predictable, but worth a look.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not Great
It was an okay movie, but I don't think I would want to watch it over and over again. Obsessed with writing a report on sexual fantasies, decent and charming writer, Mark Demetrius, (played beautifully by Vincent Spano) goes about it the sexy way--by doing phone interviews with ladies with erotic stories to tell. His obsession goes from the office to real life and before he knows it, he is entangled in a web of lies, sex, and murder! The plot is fast-paced with one enchanted bad event leading on to a sizzling worse event. And when you think things couldn't get any more twisted, the conclusion blows up in your face.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of mystery and intrigue
I thought this movie was intriguing. Just when you think you know whats going to happen, another twist is thrown your way. It keeps moving, and has an unpredictable ending. I really liked it a lot. Spano, as always, is a great actor and highly underrated. Wish we could see him in films more often. If you don't like intrigue, you will like the "sex" scene. He still has what it takes ladies.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Complete Waste of my Time
This video was rented to me for free on DVD. It looked like a hardcore, riveting film, but I was sorely disappointed. Why must all of these movies be about sex??!! It wasn't good, it didn't have a very good plot and I almost fell asleep trying to watch it. ... Read more
