3-0 out of 5 stars Ok, Felice Schatcher is in it, so it must be good.
Felice Schatcher stars in this 1980 spoof of Carrie. Everyone remembers 16-year old felice from her role as Nancy on The facts Of life. Scott Baio also stars. Some people remember him as Chachi on Happy Days, or on Joanie Loves Chachi. willie Ames is remembered for his guest appearences on Charles In Charge. Heather Thomas is ugly. Scatman Crothers is always silly. Sue Ann Langton plays the principal, who is most known as nothing in the movie world. Everyone says that there is Nudity in this film, but it is all brief. She is blocking them with her hands. And that photo shows her cheerleading?????

5-0 out of 5 stars I Really Liked This Movie!
I don't know why critics are so hard on this movie, sure Zapped may not be a movie that you could picture getting an Oscar for best picture but I still think it is a good movie and I have a lot of fun watching it and I think Scott Baio, Willie Aames, Felice Schatcher and Heather Thomas all are good, there is nudity in this movie but only briefly and anyone who says that there is no nudity probably saw it edited on TV, I have the movie unedited on video and there is indeed brief nudity especially near the end of the movie during the dance, I am rating this cute, funny movie a 5 and I wish it would get onto a wide-screen DVD.

3-0 out of 5 stars Needs to be Released on DVD!
I originally saw this movie whenever they first started showing it on cable and I thought it was funny and I happen to like Scott Baio who I watched on Happy Days and Willie Aames who I watched on Eight Is Enough. I had this movie on tape and I'm waiting for it to be released on DVD!

4-0 out of 5 stars DVD?
I know this isn't the greatest movie of all time but I would like to add it to my DVD collection.

3-0 out of 5 stars Phoebe Cates is the only paradise in "Paradise"
I'm not gonna lie, I rented "Paradise" and the only reason I rented it is because I heard that it showed Phoebe Cates nude. And it does show her naked several times, even more times than I was expecting it to. Unfortuanately, Phoebe Cates is just about the only good thing about this movie and it's definitely the only thing I'll remember from the movie. The only other possible good thing about the movie is that the monkeys can be funny.

"Paradise" isn't a 100% ripoff of "The Blue Lagoon," it's more of an 80% ripoff. The differences are the monkeys, that the two main characters (Phoebe Cates and Willie Aames) are consistently chased by an enemy, and they're stranded in the desert instead of on an island. Like "The Blue Lagoon," both of them discover sex and fall in love with each other.

I recommend anybody who just wants to see "Paradise" to see Phoebe Cates nude to buy the film because it's well worth it. However, if you're looking for a great movie to watch, I wouldn't recommend getting "Paradise" because it's only a mediocre movie, if it's even mediocre. For the movie, I give Phoebe Cates 5 stars and the movie itself 2 or 3 stars.

1-0 out of 5 stars My first review was revoked!!!
My initial review of this movie was so harsh and damning that I'm sure that is why it was not saved. So, here I go again. I will try to contain the bile rising in my throat when I remember all the ridiculous things in this ludicrous film. The direction is laughable, the acting is horrible, the plotting...I won't go there for fear of saying something foul. Anyway, Phoebe Cates gets naked. That may be enough for shallow males but not for any man with depth of character. Avoid this film like the plague. The only use I can see for this movie would be a time slot on "Mystery Science Theater 3000."

1-0 out of 5 stars A Desert of the Mind
This is a truly dreadful film, on a par with "Blue Lagoon" (the remake with Brooke Shields, not the rather decent original version with Jean Simmons), to which it bears more than a little resemblance. In "Paradise" Willie Aames replaces the equally callow Christopher Atkins of "Blue Lagoon," while Phoebe Cates replaces the equally vapid Brooke Shields. It would not be inaccurate to say that the principals in both films are equally talented actors and actresses. You remember Phoebe Cates, of course, who gave the most astonishing jaw-dropping dating advice to Jennifer Jason Leigh in the wonderfully goofy "Fast Times at Ridgement High." Both "Paradise" and "Blue Lagoon" have some common denominators: (1) the heroines seem to learn the facts of life from old Victorian medical books--never be stranded in the desert or on a desert island without them; (2) the heros become frantic from raging adolescent hormones; and (3) these woefully ignorant youngsters seem to become remarkable architechs when it comes to building comfy cottages from palm fronds.

The moronic excesses of this film surpass all expectations. Only in "Paradise" are the oases of the Syrian desert home to chimpanzees and Damascus a coastal city. Despite these absurdities, I would still give a slight nod to "Paradise" over "Blue Lagoon" because of the greater exposure given to the female lead in the former. The 15-year-old Ms. Shields seems almost chilly in "Blue Lagoon" compared to her antics at age 12 in "Pretty Baby." Ms. Cates has a rather more enticing smile and figure, which she displayed gladly in lieu of acting talent. (To her credit, her acting has grown since.) Most memorable in "Paradise" is the shower scene in the cave. I have visited this cave, located not far from Ashkelon in Israel, and I am sorry to report there are no showering maidens in it, nor even a stream of water cascading from the ceiling. Nonetheless, Ms. Cates' glistening display almost makes me forgive the studio these glaring inaccuracies. In fact, it is rather fortunate that they have put it in. Otherwise the film would have had nothing at all to recommend it.

3-0 out of 5 stars movie fan in denver
This movie had all the real potential of being another "Blue Lagoon" but the execution is quite weak. It's a shame to gather all of the right stuff to do the film so poorly. While some of the scenery shots are really good the film quality is really grainy. The music soundtrack is interesting but comes off as herky/jerky (probably really bad recording equipment). The two main actors Aames and Cates have very good visual appeal but the film quality doesn't lend itself to quality viewing. Also, the entire acting crew should have had better coaching before attempting a full length feature film. Still the movie is fun and if you like movies like Blue Lagoon you'll probably like this one. Unfortunately the cinematrography and music don't match Blue Lagoon at all (hint, hint to the director and producer). Anyways just rent or buy this film for the fun and don't expect much more.

2-0 out of 5 stars it is NOT Phoebe, BODY DOUBLE
Just to let all of the reviewers know who are going crazy over the beauty of Phoebe Cates, sorry but most of the time it is a body double! The two stars I gave this movie are for the few scenes that are actually her, namely the shower scene in the cave. The close-ups during love scenes and the swimming are indeed a body double, garunteed unless you can CLEARLY see her face, it is not her you are drooling over. You can look this info up in any book that talks about celebrity skin on film, such as the "Bare Facts" Guide to the movies. Sorry to dissapoint, but the movie is really stupid, and half of what makes it worth watching is just wool being pulled over your eyes. Once again, too bad. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pleasant Surprise
This is what I called a buried treasure. I recall seeing it during my middle school days. I found it hyysterially funny, and outright enjoyable.
This all-star cast fights for the estate of the deceased Mr. Parker (played by Vincent Price). The goal is to win the scavenger hunt. They must fetch items like toilets, cash registers, microscopes, and ... ostriches--just to name a few.
The cast incluces Richard Masur, Dirk Benedict, Willie Aames, Richard Mulligan, Cloris Leachman, Cleavon Little, Roddy McDowell, Tony Randall, Scatman Carouthers, Richard Benjamin ... and even a few great cameos by Meat Loaf and Arnold Schwarzeneggar before the Termiantor days.
One of the best things about this movie is the ending. The way it plays out makes it both unpredicatble, and enjoyable.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my all-time favorites !
The first time I saw this movie I ended up laughing so hard mystomach hurt. The part where the chauffeur, the butler and the cooktry to steal a cash register from a convenience store (as one of the items needed for their scavenger hunt) and James Coco puts a pair of panty hose over his face with the legs hanging down in front(so he wouldn't be recognizable) was absolutely hysterical. Georgie (Richard Masur) is another winner as the spoiled and malicious son of Cloris Leachman. This entire movie was fun from beginning to end and it's loaded with great movie stars. This movie reminded me a little of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, World" (my absolute favorite movie of all time ) Do yourself a favor and buy this movie. It will have you laughing until you cry !

5-0 out of 5 stars Scavenger Hunt
Very funny movie!! I didn't get to see it in the theaters but I have watched it on TV many times and laughed all the way through it!! I especially couldn't get enough of Avery Schreiber's character (the zookeeper)!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Scavenger Hunt
I love this movie. It is by far one of my favorites. I can't watch it enought. No matter how many times I see it, it never loses the humor. I really wish they would put this on DVD. I can't believe they haven't yet. I have had 3 copies of it and I have worn out all 3, and am trying to get a 4th. I can't even think of a movie that can come close to Scavenger Hunt. The actors are great.

5-0 out of 5 stars A true overlooked classic
This has got to be one of my all time favorites movies. I remember watching it as a kid on TV and recently found it at a used book store on VHS. I have watched it several more times and hope my tape holds out until the decide to put this on DVD. It really is a shame that it has not been put on DVD yet. ... Read more

It was the most coolest movie I have ever seen and it told god has not gave us a spirt of fear. TED DUFFY,

5-0 out of 5 stars A video your kids should see!
If you have a pre-teen, they should not miss this video. It teaches kids how deal with their fears and doubts. It begins with young Curt Cooper, star of the school basketball team and Bibleman, a sort of Christian Batman superhero serving as spokespersons for the "Clean is Cool" anti-drug campain at the local school. But the evil bad guy "Dr Fear" starts a evil attack Curt and Bibleman find themselves crippled by anxiety and fear. Curt quits the basketball team and Bibleman is plagued by nightmares. But what Doctor Fear is about to discover is that no one can frighten GOD, the source of a Christians strength. If your tired of your kids seeing the garbage on TV this is a great alternative. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Talk about Relevant!
Everyone likes to feel good about themselves, but when we fail to listen to our parents, teachers and most importantly, God, we feel miserable.
Bibleman made it so easy to understand, without talking-down to kids. He helps kids understand that when we make mistakes, when we fall short, God is ALWAYS there to forgive and to help us do better next time.
Bibleman is so caught up in getting ready for the Live show, he forgets to pray and to read God's word. This weakens him and he is attacked. His Scripture memory is fuzzy and he just can't seem to focus on God. Trouble is right there, ready for action. Biblegirl is tempted not to listen to God, but because she is memorizing Scriptures on obedience, she is strong and doesn't give in to temptation. Biblegirl and Cypher help Bibleman remember what he needs to do to maintain his Spiritual strength.
My kids LOVED it! I have 4kids under 4years old and as any mother knows, obedience is always an issue. Bibleman reminds kids of the Peace they will have when they do what's right in God's eyes. Thank You Lord, for giving us a friend like Bibleman. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Be Not Afraid
Ahhh, Bibleman, at last we meet! My children LOVE this series! They were actively watching and learning by speaking back to the TV, "teaching" Mommy and Daddy about what is happening on-screen.
I wasn't sure if my 4 year olds would be put off by the masks and costumes, they weren't! This series HELPS to strengthen the lessons and spiritual growth of our children. They are empowered!
It's so wonderful as a Christian Parent to actually see the Spirit of The One True God manifesting in such a small child. My kids KNOW who the bad guys are. Bibleman cuts no corners while helping families avoid the wrong path. Thank God that He has brought about his plan for Mr.Aames and the rest of the Bibleman crew! We need more imperfect Christians to work for God's Perfect plan!

2-0 out of 5 stars not quite just innocuous
I thank the Lord above (and I'm sure that Bibleman is nowhere near her - or at least I hope not) that my younger relatives who were big fans of this series finally grew up and over it. While Willie was entertaining to me as one of the kiddos on Eight is Enough, it became nauseating to see him entertaining a fresh crop of youngsters with this dreary and surreal modern day Bible superhero motif. I'm not quite sure about the quality and quantity of strange drugs that must go into the reshaping of a brain like his, but I hope that it is never readily available on the streets to tempt today's youth. Imagine everyone flying around in colorful gowns preaching morals! Wait a minute, we already have that with the televangelism networks. It's too late!

Then again, perhaps cheeseball corny retellings of Bible stories and morals within the megalomaniac ex-addict perspective of a terminally lost child star is an acquired taste, or merely subjective.

Maybe if he was in better shape, like Superman or someone, it would be easier to follow; but this is oh so sad.

If the children I care about are going to be brainwashed, I wish it was in the form of something a little more artistic than this hogwash.

Thank God for the Harry Potter empire. ... Read more

I am very glad to see that Pamplin has re-released these video's. My son played Mickey Masters. Brian is getting a theatre degree, at Pepperdine University. I can only hope that he will be as fine an actor as these two men. I hope you all enjoy these film as as much as I do! God Bless you all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Vidio!
This vidio, produced by the same people who did "Bibleman" is among the best I've ever seen.

When Mickey and Grant get assigned to make a daring rescue, there attempts to find someone who will help them result in a close brush with death that makes Mickey question wether God wants him to even be an Agent of Truth. (...)

Asside from the fact that it's rather predictable in some points, it's and exclent movie. Some things can easly be predicted if you're at all fimmiler with spy movies. Needless to say, it's high-action, but it's the kind of action you can just kick back and watch while eating popcorn fresh from the micorwave.

3-0 out of 5 stars Three and a Half
Here's something a little new, yet a little different. Yes, it's Ruggero behind the camera again with his buddies, the cannibals. Ths time around he decided to use his flair for the gruesome to make an 80s Cannon-esque action flick. You can tell this film had a so-so budget; It looks and plays out like on old Charles Bronson/Chuck Norris type flick. It's not bad. Richard Lynch(still unable to escape playing a crazy villian) does a good job though he can't have more than ten minutes of screen time. The plot seems awfully similar to Apocalypse Now(watch it and you'll see), but Italian directors have never been the mark of originality. Michael Berryman (as usual) is great to watch, I wish we'd seen more of him. The other actors are nothing special, though it is cool to see Eriq Lasalle as a pimp. Check it out, but don't spend too much.

3-0 out of 5 stars reasonable film and DVD
Although I always found the movie a little on the dull and plotless side, I do have to admit that it has enough well-edited good gore scenes to warrant a couple viewings. The cast is pretty good too, but it doesn't seem like any of them are used to the best of their abilities, especially Berryman, who needed much more of a dramatic exit than he gets at the end of the film.

The DVD is a mixed bag. They erroneously claim that a lot of the dialog was never dubbed in English, but I have the European uncut version on tape and it has all the dialog in English. This makes watching the DVD an infuriating experience as actors constantly switch from using English to Italian and back at random. Also, the DVD often looks quite shabby, such as the scene where Steiner gets ripped in half by the jungle trap. It's obvious that they took that scene from a video source and unsuccessfully tried to mix it in with the film. It's distracting, and with the dubbing thing only reflects laziness on Anchor Bay's behalf.

However the rest of the DVD looks good with bright, crisp colors, good sound, and a silly introduction by Ruggero Deodato in which is literally brags about the fact that he was dating Valentina Forte at the time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Violence Is Fun!!!
Anchor Bay's 'Uncut and Uncensored' release of Ruggero Deodato's (Cannibal Holocaust, Jungle Holocaust,
House on the Edge of the Park, Body Count) CUT AND RUN (1985), is a brutal kick in the face, to say the least.

Previously seeing the butchered version a few years back, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this 'hard' version of the film.
The man being torn in two is quite inventive and should quench most gore freaks blood-lust. There are a couple of graphic rapes that had me wincing, so you've been warned if that ain't 'yo cup 'a tea. Be prepared, this movie is only for people with strong stomaches and an appreciation for gory special effects.

Also, the cut scenes from this film were never dubbed into English on initial production (there was no point), only Italian,
and are therefore restored into this version in Italian with English subtitles.

The story in my opinion, was lacking, focusing on two news reporters trekking to the Amazon in search of a renegade Colonel (Richard Lynch) in charge of a drug cartel, yet also to find the long lost son (Willie Aames) of their boss, who just coincidently happens to be caught up in the whole mess. Come on!

It's obvious Richard Lynch put his whole heart into this role as the evil drug lord and is quite convincing as a man totally in his own world from too much Blow. The biggest downer to this film is having to sit through the scenes with Willie Aaames
(In the featurette of the DVD 'Uncut and Run', Deodato explains he was having problems), who pretentiously acts as if he could have received an Oscar, HA!

The DVD itself is great, though, with a cool interactive menu, containing a fifteen minute featurette 'Uncut and Run', the original theatrical trailer, a lengthy Ruggero Deodato bio, and an introduction from Deodato himself at the beginning of the film.
Good work Anchor Bay.

On a final note, if you are considering purchasing the film from Amazon.com, and have not yet seen this uncut version,
avoid watching the featurette first, as they expose all the cut scenes from previous versions. Watch the film first. Enjoy!

3-0 out of 5 stars Average euro-cannibal thrills
Deodato's semi-follow-up to his notorious "Cannibal Holocaust" is pretty much a mess of clashing genres. It's all over the place and doesn't really make a heck of a lot of sense, but there's enough graphic violence to satisfy the more patient gorehound (that is, if you can take watching Willie Aames running around the jungle in a Mickey Mouse t-shirt for 90 minutes). This DVD presents the uncut "hard" version of the film for the "first time ever in America" (what about the uncut bootlegs that have been floating around for 10 years???). Ya, all the beheadings and the complete man being ripped apart scene are now available to see in digital glory. How fun. All of that was edited from the original R-rated cut of the film, of course, thanks to the MPAA censors. It was cool to track down uncut boots of the film years ago, but now after all these years, the gore just doesn't have any impact and looks fake...especially after all we've seen since as well as the film itself just being so unbelievable. This ain't no "Cannibal Holocaust", that's for sure.

The DVD looks great, though. Fantastic job all the way. Extras include a featurette called "Uncut and Run" which is somewhat interesting. Deodato talks about working with the various actors (Willie was "having problems at the time") and discusses his disinterest in making "Cannibal Holocaust 2". He made this instead. Whatever. Also included is a neat trailer for the original New World release of "Cut and Run" which definitely makes the film look better than it actually is. But the funniest thing on the DVD is Deodato's brief introduction before the film itself where he basically brags that he was dating the voluptuous actress Valentina Forte at the time. Who cares? Oh, those crazeeee Italians!

If you're a cannibal junkie, this dvd is essential, of course. Others would be advised to skip it and run.

4-0 out of 5 stars from Fringe Video Fanzine Issue #005
This eruo-sludge film is the closest thing to a splatter and gore Cannibal Holocaust (1979) sequel that you are ever going to get from director Ruggero Deodato. After losing all mainstream respect by releasing the nasty cannibal films, and House on the Edge of the Park (1980), he decided to tone things down "a little" after taking over this project from soon to be Hollywood super director Wes Craven Nightmare On Elm Street (1984). I would consider this film to be Deodato's best work. Close to Joseph Conrad's Hearts of Darkness tale that was touched upon in Apocalypse Now (1979). A South American jungle cocaine operation is brutally shut down by Indio tribesmen, under the command of a mute assassin [played by Michael Berryman / The Hills Have Eyes (1977)]. After killing everyone in sight, nailing some women to the floor and raping them, our eyes are now awakened to the brutal world of the drug trafficking. A Miami reporter hot on the story somehow connects the drug murders with a Colonel Horne, seen in an old news clip of Jim Jones. The reporter flies to the jungle to interview the Colonel, make the connection to Jonestown, and help save the kidnapped son [played by Willie Aames / Eight Is Enough (1977)] of the owner of the network. Broadcasting "live" from the drug manufacture's camp, among hundreds of corpses (The result of an ongoing drug war), Horne is determined to carry on in the footsteps of the cult leader. Much like Deodato's previous Cannibal Holocaust (1979), this film also use's the documentary type style, and film within a film technique. The director places actor [Richard Lynch / God Told Me To (1977) / Invasion U.S.A. (1985)] into real stock footage of a Jonestown news reel, then also places himself in the same scene. Many thanks go out to Anchor Bay for restoring this film from many vault collections. The censored scenes can now be seen (in Italian with Subtitles), finally giving North Americans the chance to see the "hard" version of this film. Complete with disembowelments, beheading's, and a guy being ripped completely in half. Feature contains clips from director Ruggero Deodato, Writer Dardano Sacchetti, Star Richard Lynch and Music Composer Claudio Simonetti / Goblin. ... Read more
